Word pagination not correct in converted files

We use word 2007 pagination in headers of documents, but sometimes when these docments are converted to pdf they don't paginate correctly.  For example the word doc is 20 pages so the pagination say X of 20.  But when converted each page says 1 of 1, 2 of 2 . . . all the way up.  Any one else seen this or have this problem?  Any solutions to try?

We try printing and usually it prints it on paper correctly.  Do you know if there is a "fix" for the bug or is it just something that we have to deal with and work through?
Thanks!

Story does not correctly export fdx file with scene numbers? Bug needs to be fixed.

Okay, Even if i remove the scene numbers from Story and export the file to Final Draft 8. The format in incorrect. The "transitions" ex. CUT TO:  are not in the correct allignment. Also there are numbers on each of the dialogues
Pretty much alot of the formatting is not the same. Spaces  that break dialouge and action which are there in Story, are not converted over to Final Draft.
Please fix this as soon as possible.

  • MS Office 2004 reports "Word could not create the work file."

I have searched the world for the solution and apparently nobody else has this problem. When opening any document (.doc) Word will report "Word could not create the work file. Check the amount of disk space on your start up drive."
There are 40 gigs free. There is 2 gig of memory. It's the only app open.
Is there a solution to this problem other then not using Word at all?

I'm learning more about the doc file in question.
Evidently it was created on Windows about 4 years
ago. If I Save As... the file and click the
Compatibility button it complains about a missing
"linked" file. While this might be the cause of the
problem there doesn't seem to be any way of fixing it
short of finding a time machine and wacking the
creator before they wrote a word. If I go ahead and
save the document Word crashes and corrupts the
original file (err the back up of the back up of the
    original file).
I think you may have to give up on this one.
A "linked file" is a reference pointer within the main word document that tells word to locate another file and incorporate it into the document by reference (but not include the actual contents of the linked file)
Since you say "If I Save As... the file and click the Compatibility button..." you can get into the document.
So try turning on invisibles, and find the reference to the linked file. You may also be able to find it by turning on Document Map.
Delete the link, and that should take care of the crashing problem.
Of course, your file will not be 'complete' but thats a differnet problem.

  • Previews not correct in open file dialog

    Hello all,
I am on CS4 Photoshop. The previews of files in the File>Open dialog do not update or show the correct picture. Files with various layers often only show one layer instead of the whole picture, or layers are shifted wrongly over one another. Where are those previews kept and how can I force Photoshop to update them correctly? IMHO it has nothing to do with bridge, I tried purging the cache etc, but all that does not help. This seems purely a Photoshop or Mac thing, at least I think so. Any help greatly appreciated.
    Cheers, Bob.

    Hi, thanks for your reply.
When opening the folder containing the images in the finder they look perfectly OK both in list view and in icon view. It is just in the open file menu of photoshop.
    Cheers, Bob.

  • Why can I not download a converted file (xl from pdf)?

I have a converted file (XL from PDF) but I cannot download it. Never before had a problem. What am I doing wrong?

    Hi Peter,
    I'd like to assist!
What is happening when you try to convert from PDF to Excel? Are you receiving a specific error message? Was the file an Excel doc prior to being converted to PDF?
Looking forward to hearing back from you.
    Kind regards, Stacy

  • When I try to back up my hard drive to an external hard drive if an alias is not correct or a file is not recognised it fails and I cannot tell the sytem to ignore the file. Anyone know why and how I can get around the problem?

    Hi
I have a Mac PowerBook G4 running OSX and a Hitachi external HD.  When I try to back up the data from my Mac to the HD it copies much of the data across but some files such as incorrect "alias' files and some other files do not copy.  The messages I get indicate there are problems but when I click the OK button the backup stops.  I then have to either delete these files or copy other files with correct alias details to overwrite the existing one. I then have to start the backup all over.
I have been carrying out a bfull backup so have been copyiing the hard drive of the Mac an pasting it into the external HD.  Is this my problem? If so how do i carry out the backup function. I have been informed by Hitachi that I should be using the Mac's own "Time Machine" software but I don't seem to be able to locate this.
I have been told that there should be the option to either cancel the backup or skip the file but I don't get that.
Any ideas as I am running out of patience.
    vic

If you are running Tiger, you don't have time machine.
You need to get something like SuperDuper! or Carbon Copy Cloner (sorry, I don't have a handy link for CCC but you can Google it to get their site) to make a clone of your drive on the external and then do incremental backups.  The free versions do a lot and you can upgrade to the full-service versions for small change if you need more.  The one time I used SuperDuper! for cloning a volume it worked just fine.
(My backup application is the last PPC capable version of Retrospect, which does a credible job, or has over the past ten-twelve years.)

  • Hyperlinks in Word 2007 not appearing in PDF file

I am not sure if this is more of a Word problem, or an Acrobat problem.
However, I have a document in Word that contains a table of contents and several cross-references that are hyperlinks to locations in the document. In the Word file, you can CTRL + click and you will be taken to the destination of the hyperlink, for example to a topic in the Table of Contents.
I used to make these a couple years back and they worked fine.
I am using Word 2007 on a PC with Acrobat 8.1.2. I have tried both the Standard and the Rich Content PDF job options and neither of them seems to give me hyperlinks in the finished PDF file. Am I missing something?

I've also had problems carrying links over from a Word file (I'm using Word 2002). External links in footnotes are not carried into the PDF file unless, using Change Conversion Settings - Settings, the 'Enable Accessibility etc.' box is ticked. Even then, in a 2mb file, with a lot of footnotes, whether the links are carried into the PDF file seems to depend on which computer I use. OK with XP and 1.5gb; but with Vista and 3gb the links do not appear in the PDF file. In either case its a 10+ minutes process.
If you don't tick the box, links in footnotes are carried over only if the actual URL appears in the text. However, the process is much quicker.

  • Page numbers in Word TOC not correct; have to open doc and update

I'm using RoboHelp HTML 9 and Word 2010.
I generate a Word doc (.docx) as one of my outputs. The Word TOC works -- that is, if I Ctrl-Click one of the items in the TOC, I'm taken to that item.
A user just came up to me asking why the page numbers are off. Here's what I see.
I use SSL to generate the Word doc.
In the TOC, I look for the topic "Setting Up Comments." It's listed as being on page 30.
I Ctrl-Click that TOC item and it takes me to the topic, but when I look at the footer, it says this is page 28.
If I go back to the TOC, right-click, and choose "Update page numbers only", Word updates the TOC, which now shows the correct page number, page 28.
In other words, generating my printed doc is now a multi-step process:
Use SSL to generate the Word doc.
Open the Word doc and update the TOC.
    Save the Word doc.
Shouldn't the TOC be right the first time around? Am I forgetting to do something?

Your example was not the best, many chapters have such a topic. However, I am seeing issues there.
In another project I am finding the page numbers correct so I will need to do some more digging.
Meantime, given the problem can be recreated using the sample, you should report it as a bug.

  • UtSrServerBus - Driver was not correctly signed or file is corrupt

We have a Windows 2008 R2 Server running on VMware ESXi 4.0 with RDS and I don't get the USB redirection to work properly.
SRSS is 5.2.1 (latest). Sun Ray Components are 2.4 (bundled with SRSS/SRWC).
First of all, the driver of the utSrServerBus Device is not installed correctly (it seams to because of the Windows Driver Compatiblity Check). The Device hast a yellow warning "!" in the Device Manager and says (Code 52).
The driver was signed wrong or the file is corrupt. I've reinstalled it several times now. Watching the driver file (inf) properties I see that it is signed by Oracle (and by Versign).
I think this also leads to that the utSrServerPort is not installed.
As a workaround I installed the SR Components from SRSS 5.1 (version 2.0.12.0) which seem to work correctly.

This has been reported previously. And seemed to be specific to VMware installations running 64bit guest OSes.
It was found that having a virtual USB stack in the guest VM settings would trigger this problem. As thsi is not needed for the SRWC windows components to provided USB redirection, we were able to resolve this by simply removing the virtual USB device stack in the VM and reinstalling the SRWC Windows components software.

  • I can not open any converted files.

I cannot open any files I have converted to PD. Each time this message is displayed " there was an error in opening this document. It cannot be found"  What??

    Hi tomv77353474,
What are you using to open the PDF files? Acrobat/Reader? What version? Are you on Mac OS or Windows? And where do those files reside? Are they on a network server?

Using the DBA tab in sql*developer, I got the following errors:

    How to do ?

I'm not clear on exactly what your are doing or what the error is that you are getting.
    1. Can you describe the steps that you are taking exactly?
    2. Is there a stack trace or any more details on the error you are getting?
I will be more than happy to dig deeper once I clearly understand the issue.
    Thanks,
