Word to Acrobat Pro X picture conversion problems

Why do some of the pictures I convert from MSWord to Acrobat Pro X display on the new pdf doc as a black square? I have tried adjusting the contrast and brightness on the original as well as the text wrapping. On some images adjusting the contrast corrects the problem and on some it doesn't - even when they are on the same page.

It is possible that an update, patch, etc. that you have for MS Word is causing the problem.  I vaguely remember a similar issue before I switched over to Word 2010.  A fabulous change to 2010 is that you can "save as" a .pdf file now and no longer have to worry about converting or printing!

  • Acrobat Pro 11 2nd Display Problem

iMac 2013 version running OSX 10.9.4 and Acrobat Pro 11.0.7 - both are the most current version.
The iMac has a 27" display and I use a second monitor next to it in the portrait orientation, a 23" NEC E231W so I can view fine print documents more easily. Everything worked fine until some months ago, it may have been when I upgraded from Acrobat 10 to 11 but I am not sure. It was an irritation that I thought someone (Acrobat or Apple) would fix but they did not. Apple support (I have about 5 AppleCare products under warranty) does not support Acrobat problems.
When I open or move a PDF document to my second monitor using Acrobat, the document on the second screen does not display properly; either the right half is all "whited out" or the text is weirdly scrunched up. See embedded image taken with Grab. Anyway, I discovered today that if I am using Preview (instead of Acrobat) I don't have the problem, so have belatedly discovered a much needed workaround, but of course I cannot use the Acrobat editing functions if the document is displayed on my second screen; all works fine on the iMac display.
The image included shows the same document displayed on my second screen; the top image is using Preview (showing page 1 of 7) and the image below it is using Acrobat.
Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Inserting Videos Without MS Word In Acrobat Pro 9 Extended

I've been experimenting with inserting videos as native content using Acrobat Pro 9 Extended. For my ebook publishing this is such an ideal situation, but I don't use MS Word, and there doesn't seem to be any real facility in Acrobat 9 to do simple formatting of the video object (like center it, for example.)
I do have an older version of Word (2000) but it doesn't have the menus listed that seem to inserted into newer versions.
Does anyone know what version of Word is required for this functionality?
Furthermore, is there another way to do this using some other program? I use OpenOffice typically, but could try others if need be.

If your using a Mac Locate the following PDF Browser Plugin by Schubert go to google.
It works better than the included AdobPDF Plugin. It works with any Web Browser except Internet Explorer.
It allows setting to do smooth scroll or page by page.
You must remove the AdobePDF plugin because the two plugins clash.
Why Adobe removed Support for All Browsers as previous to Acrobat 6, I'll never know.

  • Acrobat Pro 7 self-heal problem - 10.4.x standard account admin permissions

    Hi,
Installed Acrobat Pro 7 as part of Adobe CS 2 - one brand-new G5, and one erase-and-new-install of Tiger 10.4.6 and all apps on a G4 eMac. Same problem on both.
When in a standard user account, repeatedly on launch (apparently during the install/heal step) Acrobat requests administrator password. It fails there without it. And if you give it, it is required again the next time you launch. Permissions repair, etc., and re-install did not help. Nothing came up at the official Adobe support knowledgebase.
Found http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20060224083356302 which suggested manually editing the Root/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat/CS2ENUProSelfHeal.xml file (changing instances of "Bib" to "BIB" in some .frameworks).
The Adobe User-to-User forums at http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?[email protected]@.3bbede30 discussed editing additional files inside the Acrobat application package (Adobe Acrobat Professional/Contents/MacOS/AcroENUProSelfHeal.xml and /CS2ENUProSelfHeal.xml), as well as others that the Acrobat installer puts inside of Safari - once again for Bib/BIB.
All this apparently to prevent some sort of cyclical self-break/self-heal that needs admin permission on every launch of the app - the problem appearing to be (with OS X case sensitivity) that app looks for and (re)writes individual files by "different" names in various places (i.e. "AdobeBibUtils.framework" vs "AdobeBIBUtils.framework) in this app.
These edits didn't work in my case. I wonder if any other files might also need to be changed - in fact I saw Bib/BIB use inside of some other CS2 app related files as well.
Would rather not permit general admin access to public machines. Would rather not edit application files. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

  • Why can't I input text (from MS Word, Adobe Acrobat Pro PDFs, etc.) into/onto a certain page?

I have been having great difficulty inserting or inputting any sort of text or other information onto page 2 of an InDesign document.  (So far, I have 13 pages on seven spreads, and the other pages have been fine.)  Further information:  Page 1 is one type of master ("A-Master" applied), while page 2 (and all pages following) are a different master ("A-Document Master" applied)....  I used a second master for pages 2 and onward, as I wanted to import preferences from another document, to establish a relative degree of uniformity.  I am a relatively new user of CS5.5, but haven't had any major problems thus far with everything else.  My guess is that the text frames for page 2 are somehow embedded above the actual page, and this is affecting import abilities.  However, I can't figure out how to change this.  Any ideas?

Jongware:  That seemed to work.  There was an extremely small thread I couldn't see before--perhaps simply because I didn't magnify things--that I didn't catch.  (This was left over from the original master creation process, when I imported things from another InD document.)  I took care of the problem.  Thanks to you and everyone for your kind advice and assistance!  Best wishes, JS

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro - Saving Signed file Problems

  • Combine supported files... problem (Word 2007, Acrobat 9, Windows 7)

    Windows 7; Word 2007; Acrobat Pro 9
Print > Adobe PDF within Word produces pdf file that faithfully reproduces the Word file (that is, this process works as expected).
RClick context menu 'Combine supported files in Acrobat' produces output characterized by incorrect letter spacing and incorrect typeface (font) output among other issues.
Various possible resolutions have been tried with no success (PDFMaker option changes, output resolution (dpi) changes and so forth).
The same results are obtained when using the combine feature from within Acrobat Pro.
Thanks for any and all help.

Footnotes in tables were the problem with my doc as well.  I tried the option of saving the doc as a Word 2003 file, but it didn't help.  I chatted with Adobe Customer Service and was provided this fix:
In Word 2007, click on the Acrobat ribbon
In the "Create Adobe PDF" panel, click on "Preferences"
In the "Settings" tab, under "Application Settings," UNCHECK the box next to "Enable Accessibility and Reflow with tagged Adobe PDF"
After that, I was able to create the PDF, and the table of contents and external hyperlinks all worked.  The footnotes were no longer hyperlinked, but since they're on the same page as the items they're referencing, that's not really a problem.  Cheers,
    JG

  • Reinstalling Acrobat Pro Add In to Word 2010

I had to reinstall my office 2010 on my computer.  I am also running Acrobat xi Pro which was fine and did not need to be reinstalled.
When the installation and updates to Office 2010 were completed I noted that my Acrobat xi Pro add-in for word was gone.
I need to reinstall it.  How do I do that without reinstalling the enite Acrobat xi Pro application?
    Gordon Jacobson

Sorry but your response is incorrect.
One does NOT have to reinstall Acrobat Pro to fix this problem.  I figured out that all one had to do was run the Repair tool which can be found in the Help pulldown menu.
BTW, the add-ins were NOT disabled.  They had been removed.

  • Acrobat Pro Freezes completely so I need to Force Quit

I hope I am posting in the right place.  Please let me know if I should move this.  I am so desperate-- I have tried everything I can think of and I hope someone has another idea I can try.
I am using Acrobat Pro.  When the problem started I was using Pro X.  I tried upgrading to the trial Acrobat XI to see if that fixed the problem, but it didn't.  I don't care which I use as long as it works.
The program starts up, but I can't click on any of the choices on the "splash screen" (where you can choose Open a Recent File or Select a Task).  When I roll over the choices I see the rollover highlight, but nothing happens when I click.  I can open a file from the FILE menu, but when I do I can't do anything with it.  None of the tools on the window tool bar work.  Then the whole thing freezes and I have to Force Quit to close the program.
I am on a Mac running Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.5 with a 3.2 GHz Intel Cose i3 processor and 12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 memory.  When the problem started I was using Lion 10.7.5, so I tried upgrading to Mountain Lion, but it didn't fix the problem.
Here is what I have tried:
    > Uninstalling and reinstalling Acrobat Pro X numerous times
    > Installing, uninstalling, reinstalling Acrobat Pro XI
    > Installing in Safe Mode
    > Uninstalling every other Adobe product I had (After Effects Trial, inDesign 5, Adobe Reader)
I also tried various things I found in the Forums-- so many that I can't remember now.  One had to do with moving certain preference files and opening the program again, one was the fix for a CS6 conflict problem.
When the problem first started I discovered that my Time Machine backup was not working because my backup disc was full and Time Machine wasn't deleting the old backups.  I didn't have a recent backup so I didn't want to do a system restore to before the problem.  I got a new 4TB external drive for Time Machine, and got a 3TB external drive to clear a bunch of large documents off my main hard drive.
I am willing to try anything.  Please help!!!
    Katie

Well, after two weeks of pulling my hair out I finally figured it out last night!  The problem was a bad mouse driver.  I use an Evoluent mouse (which I LOVE) but it is an older model and I suppose the update from OX 10.7.4 to 10.7.5 just kicked the driver into incompatiblity.  I had tested the mouse a week or so ago and my Mac wireless mouse worked but didn't solve the problem because when I did the test I didn't actually unplug the Evoluent mouse.  Once I did that last night, and used only the Mac wireless mouse, Acrobat went back to working properly.
I just ordered the newest Evoluent mouse which is compatible with OS X.  I can't wait for it to arrive tomorrow!!
Thank you to everyone who viewed this question and tried to think of a solution.

  • Acrobat Pro 9 freezes when trying to edit preferences

    I have Acrobat Pro 9.3.4
When I try to Edit-> Preferences, the application locks up.  It eventually goes to 'not responding" and I have to kill it using Task Manager.
I found this problem when I was troubleshooting a customer's issue where he could not Extract pages from a PDF document. The Extract window would come up, he would put in the pages he wanted and start the process. It would act like its going through the motions but nothing would happen and he would have to open task manager to stop the Acrobat process.
I was able to duplicate the problem with my Administrator account.  I also found the same problem when I tried to go to Edit > Preferences.  Acrobat went into a not responding state and I had to kill the process using Task Manager.
I have verified that the problem is not document specific:  It happens on multiple documents. If I copy the document to another machine with Acrobat Pro 9,  I have no problem Extracting pages.
I have uninstalled Acrobat Pro 9.  That included removing c:\program files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\acrobat* and c:\program files\common files\Adobe\Acrobat\*  I rebooted the computer and then reinstalled  Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.    Same problem for both my regular and my administrator accounts.
I have compared permissions and registry entries between this machine and one where its working but have not found any differences.
Any suggestions on what else to try would be greatly appreciated.

You would think.  However, repairing Adobe, uninstalling (including deleting registry entries,  c:\program files\common files\Adobe\Acrobat\* and c:\program files\Adobe\*  , etc) did not resolve the issue.

  • Linking multiple textboxes in a form Acrobat Pro 9?

    Hi all,
I'm making an electronic form with Acrobat Pro 9.
The setup was made in Indesign CS3 after which the form boxes were detected by Acrobat Pro 9. There is a larger text area which consists of multiple lines of text (to be filled in by the user).
For this area there are 2 options:
1- Have multiple textboxes linked together so the text flows to the next box automatically when the current one is full.
    or.
2- Have 1 multiline textbox with a larger linespacing.
The problem with 1 is, I can't seem to link multiple boxes together in Acrobat Pro 9. The problem with 2 is, I have no idea how to increase the linespacing.
Does anybody have any idea how to accomplish either 1 or 2?
    Thanks in advance,
    Bas

Linking the text boxes is not really possible, at least in a seamless manner. I've seen a few approaches using JavaScript, but none that are very well implemented. My usual suggestion is to redesign the form to get rid of the lines and just use a single multiline text box, perhaps with a faint border to indicate to the user where the field is.
If you need the lines because the form might be printed and filled by hand or some other means, then you can set up the field with a bit of JavaScript to set the background color to white if the user enters any text, and transparent otherwise. That way, when the document is printed, the lines won't appear if any text is entered, but will if not. You will not need to be concerned about the line spacing of the field matching up with the lines.

  • Acrobat Pro X Won't Open, please help.

I have Creative Suite 6, which I purchased last summer.   I mostly only use Photoshop and Illustrator.  I have used Acrobat Pro X before without problems, however I have not used it now for several months.  But today, I tried to use Acrobat Pro X, and at first, it opened for maybe 20 seconds, and then closed.  I tried to reopen the file again, and on this, and all subsequent attempts, Acrobat Pro would not open at all.
A few minutes ago, I looked at the Acrobat Pro forum, and someone named TMoellman had the exact same problem as I did, with his question being posted earlier today.  The moderator told TMoellman to go to the CS forum.  I hoped to find his question here, and an answer.  But I found nothing.
I have Windows 8.1.  I used an application that checks all of my programs for updates, and it told me my Acrobat Pro X was up to date.  I also re-booted my PC a couple of times.
What do I do?  Thank you, Chuck

Hi Lisley56, I found the solution there is a Plug in for Acrobat X Pro that came with Adobe Suite CS6... I downloaded it and that did it!!! It's called "Acrofix". Try looking it up in the Adobe website!!! I hope it works!!

  • Samsung Kies 3 and Android-Sync download turned all program icons to Adobe Acrobat Pro 9

I recently installed Samsung Kies 3 and Android-Sync on my laptop running Windows 7 Pro. As soon as the installtion was completed, all my program icons turned to Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, which is one of the programs loaded on my computer, and all my programs tried to open with Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, which of course failed. I uninstalled Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, and the problem cleared up. As soon as I tried to reinstall Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, the problem reappeared. I uninstalled Acrobat 9 and installed a trial version of Acrobat XI, and the same thing happened. Any ideas aso to how to correct this problem?
