Word to pages....and staying the same

I have downloaded a form which appears to have been made using Microsoft Word. I do not have Microsoft Word but do have Pages however when Pages opens the file it comes out slightly different.
Is there anyway to ensure it will come out exactly the same, other then resorting to getting Microsoft Word for my Mac?

The only app able to render a Word document exactly as it was in the app used to create it is this used app.
I'm not sure that every documents created with Word on PC will be rendered exactly by Word for Mac.
Most of the times, free clones of Office give a result more close to the original than what Pages do.
Happily, Pages was not defined as a clone of Word. It's an app of its own which give you the ability to read documents created in Word without any waranty of an identical layout.

No, I am using the crop function, and the directions say after I press done it will fill the frame, which worked a year ago. Now when using th Crop function, the black area stays black and the cropped video stays the same size. I even shared it to a Master file to see if it would process during sharing, but the black area remained black and the cropped video remained the same size. Still a bit frustrated.

When I sync my photos to iPhoto from my iPhone 4S it like saves about 200 on my phone. I really don't like that because they're like really old and stay the same... Can you take that setting off? Or just make it you most recent pictures instead?

it had to do with Maverick/Aperture not supporting the same date formats as before in Smart Albums when I upgraded.
Smart albums based on dates have always been problematic, if you use smart settings that require a date string to be entered. How the date string will be interpreted, will depend on your settings in the System Preferences > Language&Text > Advanced > Dates formats and the "Region".
It is much safer to use "Calendar" rules in Aperture instead of "Date" rules with date-strings. Calendar rules will remain valid, if the region settings are changed in the System preferences.

Why do my Horizontal and Vertical page views stay the same?

When I'm setting up a document, I want to view my pages vertically, not in a horizontal spread. When I go to View Pages and click Vertical, and then go to Panel Options and click Vertical, the view should change, but it doesn't. Is there anywhere else I need to check? I uninstalled the program and then re-installed it, but that didn't fix it.

OK. There's definitely a problem. In the screen shot I don't see brackets around the page numbers, but let's verify that page shuffling is enabled. Click on the leftmost pae in the pane, then hold the shif key and click on the rightmost page, so they are all selected, then right-click on them and make sure that BOTH Allow Selected Spread to Shuffle and Allow Document Pages to Shuffle are showing checkmarks.
If shuffling is alread enabled (checkmarks show), then yes, you do need to trash the preferences. Here's the link again: Replace Your Preferences
If you haven't done a lot of customizing, the keyboard method is OK, (you're going to lose customizations with either method, but you don't get to restore the old ones if it doesn't work when you use the keyboard). How do you get the home page to stay the same when you reload your firefox after changing homepage

We previously had google as our main home page then tried a page called bearshare. Now we want to change the home page back to google. I have tried numerous times typing in the new home page under tools, options then general tab and when we close firefox and then reopen the page it loads bearshare again so we go back to tools option again and it has automatically changed back to bearshare. We are running windows xp on our system and prefer google but bearshare is annoying as it doesn't find alot of kids games sites that we can get through google. Please help what do we do to stop it from changing back all the time?

Reading the How To page in Pages, it states that to find out the meaning og a word, Double tap it and then tap Define but Define never appears, only Cut or Copy or sometimes Speak. Most annoying, the Ipad is for fun or Email on the road but as for using it s a laptop, a waste of money.

Is it possible for automator to convert all word documents in my dropbox folder to apple's "pages" on iCloud and keep the same folder organization? I am a teacher and want to switch from using microsoft office on my macbook pro to using pages/number/keynote. I am hoping to get an iPad next year and go "paperless" with lesson plans and gradebooks and I heard that pages/numbers/keynote are great on the ipad. I'd like to write an automator script (workflow?) to convert all my documents in dropbox to pages and have them stored on iCloud, then be able to access the files on my macbook pro and ipad. Thanks!

Create an AppleID under different email addresses for each family member at http://appleid.apple.com
If they don't already have their own email address just setup a free one with Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail or whoever you prefer.
Then on each device sign into iMessage with the users own AppleID in:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Tap AppleID at top > Sign Out, then sign back in again with the correct AppleID.

Color and style settings won't stay the same.....

I'm trying to get my type to stay the same color and style each time I start a new email to send to someone. I can set it each time I start a new message, but I want it to stay the same automatically when I open it up. Is that possible to do in mail?

I have had this problem.
It seems that iChat is more sensitive to small breaks in the network link. Web Browsers and Mail just don't show them as they make new connections each time they download mail or change pages.
If wireless try it wired for elimination purposes.
Check the time any DHCP server renews the leases.

New page to stay in same position as the page user is leaving

Hi,
I don't know if this is the right place to ask. I'm guessing it's a javascript issue but any forum I find hasn't had a question answered in weeks.
I'm looking for a script that tells the new page to stay in the same position as the page the user just left. Example....If the user is in the footer section and clicks a link, the new page opens up in the footer section of the new page.
I figured I'd be able to find something to achieve this but no luck so far. Any assistance would be fantastic.

I can't cap the number of active downloads (via persistent-connection-to-server cap) AND still be able to load pages hosted on the same server, *because*...?

I'm aware that, by setting "network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server" (in about:config) to 1, I'm effectively preventing myself from being able to download a single file from a server AND load a page hosted on the same server simultaneously.
My question is, why can't Firefox tell the difference between a file download and loading a website?
The reason I ask is that I feel I should be able to create a download queue and have my browser download one file at a time (to minimize the impact downloads have on available bandwidth and my own downstream, while allowing me to set up a long chain of sequential downloads), YET still be able to browse websites hosted on the same server.
I do not want to use an add-on or a separate download manager to solve this problem. I think that's stupid. Firefox should be able to tell the difference between a request to load an html file and a request to download any other type of file.
After all, I can already configure Firefox's file handling behavior for each type separately (I have, for example, previously set PDF files to prompt me to "Save as...", in order to prevent exploits from triggering when I click on a link, by preventing Firefox from opening them in-browser).
There is no reason I shouldn't be able to do what I have said I would like to. I should not HAVE to limit the number of max server connections in order to ACHIEVE filling a simple download queue with a 1-file-at-a-time limit.

Recentley printing most documents in firefox print on 1/4 of the page and not the complte document. When I print the same thing in safari it prints fine. Please advise how I can get proper printing in firefox

When using Firefox to print most documents ( boarding passes, mastercard statements,genealogy documents) the printing only shows on 1/4 of the page, is in the lower left quarter and does not print part of the right side of the information. When I go into Safari and print the same documents within 2 minutes they always print fine. We like Firefox and would prefer to continue to use but if we can't print we will have to use Safari more often

I have the same problem with cutting of the page since installing the new version. If you manually zoom out the print it only shows 1/4 of the page on a whole page of paper. Something is wrong here.
I have done all these steps and it still does NOT print correctly!
I am a IT professional and something is not right with the new firefox browser. Please supply with fix or we will have to permanently switch back to Internet Explorer, which works perfectly.
