Word to Pdf conversion - Margin diffeence

Hi,
I am in the process of converting some word documents to pdf, but the top margin is not consistent b/w word and pdf i,e pdf have greater margin than the base word document. could any one help me in getting the pdf with the same margin as of wrod document after converting.
I'm using Acrobat Disteller 7.0

I am not sure why you are talking about using Acrobat Distiller 7. But let me get back to the issue.
1. Select the Adobe PDF printer in the print menu. Then go back and check your document (WORD will reflow a document to best fit).
2. Check the paper size of the WORD document versus the PDF document. I suspect that you did not select the proper paper in the Adobe PDF printer properties. Maybe you are trying to use A4 and the paper in the printer is Letter.
3. You should either print to the Adobe PDF printer or use PDF Maker (the Adobe icon in WORD) to create the PDF. Do not print to file, just print to the printer and the conversion process should automatically be started.

  • Word to PDF Conversion = Different Color on Paper

    Hello All,
I created a bunch of forms in Word 2010. Converted them into PDF and made them fillable. On screen Word doc and PDF doc colors look the same, but when I print PDF documents their blue turns intor dark purple. Any suggestions on how to keep colors consistent with the Word doc? I read about software and screen collibration, but I believe that there must be a simplier way to synchronize colors. Again, on screen colors looks the same....  Thank you very much.

  • Word to PDF conversion does not retain left margin (for thesis submission to a university)

    Hi everyone,
I've searched through the more recent margin issues posts and haven't found anything that exactly matches my problem.  I'm currently trying to convert my thesis from Word to a PDF (I'm using Word 2003 in Windows XP and Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional) as required by my university and the left side margin is changed from 1.5 inches to 1.25 inches during the conversion process.  Since this is for submission to a university, the margin has to be exactly 1.5 inches.  I've already tried to change the paper and page layout settings in case was an issue related to scaling (if only at this point) and I've reconverted the file in case it was a fluke (obviously it wasn't since I found my way here).  I also tried to just shift the margin in Word over an additional 0.25 inches to see if that would put it at 1.5 instead of 1.25 in Acrobat, but somehow it was still at 1.25.  It doesn't seem to matter what the margin is set at in Word, it ends up at 1.25 in Acrobat.
I would very much appreciate any input- it would be nice if now that I've finished all the work on my thesis I could actually get it submitted properly so that I can get my diploma!

What method are you using to generate your PDF from Word?  What version of Word are you using?  (edit:  sorry, I see now you mentioned Word 2003)
Are you using the Word's PDF convert-to icon or are you using Print>Adobe PDF ?

  • Word to pdf conversion failure

Hi I cannot get ms word document to convert to pdf, either with ms word plugin or using acrobat file-open. It appears to get someway through the conversion then disappears without error message when using the plugin or gives an error failure when using the file-open option.
    I and running windows 7 sp1 64bit. ms office word 2003 sp3. acrobat X pro v10.1.13
Acrobat seems to work fine with existing pdf files, opening, combining, adding/deleting pages etc. it just wont create a new pdf from ms word or for that matter, cobalt solid modelling program either.
I had to install and use bullzip pdf maker to get me out of this problem just to finish a huge job the company had undertaken. But bullzip doesn't create bookmarks from internal document hyperlinks, which is essential for my current work.
How can I overcome this quite essential problem of not being able to simply create a pdf? Admittedly the ms word file is 180mb but that surely cannot be the issue

    Hi richardstansfield,
I could see that you are using a very old version of MS Office which is actually not compatible with Adobe Acrobat XI.
For details, please refer this link:
Compatible web browsers and PDFMaker applications
I would suggest you to install the supported version of MS Office and check again.
    Hope to hear from you.

  • Weird problems of figures with word to pdf conversion

    Platform: Windows Vista
    Word 2007
    Acrobat 9
Q: I have some wmf format vector figures inserted into word file. When I convert the word file into pdf format using the built-in pdfmaker button in the word menu, the vector graphics all become bitmap type. If I use print to pdf commond, the graphics are still vector format. Because I want to retain the Heading markers and other bookmarkers in the converted pdf file, I prefer using the pdfmaker for the conversion.
Does anyone know how to fix it? it used to work in my old computer with acrobat 8 and word 2003. Not sure whether it is a compatability issue.

You may want to be open to issues of WORD 2007, particularly if using a docx format. It may not be the issue you are having, but I have found problems with WORD itself for graphics. In some cases, it will take a nice graphic and split it into parts when creating a PDF. I am not sure what all the issues are, but WORD 2007 seems to be part of the problem, not just Acrobat. In fact, I have seen WORD take a vector graphic and change the fonts to a graphic, rather then leave them as a font in such a graphic - that was with a docx file. I am not saying WORD is the problem, but be open to alternate explanations of what is going on.

  • Word to PDF conversion gets stuck at 10%. Acrobat 8 Professional.

I have Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional on Windows 7. I cannot convert Word Docs (office 2003 Professional) to PDFs. The conversion gets stuck at 10%.
    What should I do?

Are you saving your MS Word doc as a PDF from within Word?
Try doing that, also some versions of Word had a PDF Maker button.
Once you have the Word file saved as a PDF, you should be able to open it in Acrobat 8.

  • Custom Footer not showing in Word to PDF Conversion

    Hi All,
I created a 14 page word document with a custom footer.  The custom footer is a gray textbox with the page number feature inserted.  When I convert the Word 2010 document to a PDF (using Adobe Acrobat XI Standard) the gray text box shows, however, the page number is not visible.  Everything displays fine in Word.  Any ideas what settings I need to change to fix this issue?
    Thanks in advance.

As mentioned to output "interactive" (links, bookmarks, etc.) PDF from MS Word you'd use Acrobat's PDFMaker.
PDFMaker compatibility "matrix" can be viewed at: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/333/333504.html
Acrobat's PDFMaker from Acrobat 7 is not compatible with Office 2007 applications.
    Support started with Acrobat 8.2.
    Be well...

  • Ink annotations get lost during word 2007 - pdf conversion

    Hi,
I am trying to convert a word 2007 document into a .pdf using Acrobat Professional 9. The problem is, the ink annotations get lost in the process. A colleague does not have the same problem. I an very sure that I have never changed any preferences.
    Thanks for your help, Bruce

You did not give all of the information. The current version of AA9 is 9.4.7. If you have 9.0, you should do the updates until you get to 9.4.7. Also, I assume you are not using a 64-bit machine, an appropriate comment at this time.
That being said, I did run your DOCX file in WORD 2007 and AA 9.4.7 on a 32-bit Win7 system. With PDF Maker, I got the same result as you. With a print to the Adobe PDF printer, I did get the markup that you wanted. If bookmarks and tags are not of concern to you, then using the printer might be the best route for now. There appears to be a bug in PDF Maker that has not been noted before and you have brought to the front. I am not sure how the annotations are done, but apparently PDF Maker did not catch them.

  • Word to PDF conversion problems

When I create a PDF from a Word document, several files are generated (instead of one) before and after landscape pages within a large document.   How can I avoid this so that only one PDF is generated?  I get an error saying that the footers are outside the printable area, however, I don't have any problems physically printing the document and the print preview looks fine.

One way would be to use Apple's way (instead of Microsoft's way) of creating a PDF file from Microsoft Word.
    Try creating it this way:
While in Microsoft Word, when ready to create a PDF, go to File > Print and instead of printing, click the "PDF" button in the lower left, then click "Save as PDF" from the resulting dropdown.

  • Word 2007 to PDF conversion

    Hi,
when I save a MS Word 2K7 document to PDF, it opens in PDF with a yellow background. Has anyone else experienced this, or know what the problem/solution is?
    thx.

    > What is the difference between acrobat distiller and acrobat distiller server?
Licensing. If you want to run Distiller processing on a server, or
otherwise to produce files for more than one end user, the normal
    Acrobat license does not work.
    >And also need the trial version installation for distiller server.
I don't know if there is such a thing.
I notice this topic is about Word to PDF conversion. If you want Word
to PDF conversion on a server, Adobe's LiveCycle PDF Generator might
    be more suitable.

  • Batch conversion of Microsoft word to PDF?

    Hi Gang,
I'm not sure which forum to put this in, but I've been all over google and can't find a solution. I'm hoping someone here has a suggestion.
Does anyone know a way to do a batch conversion of MS word to PDF? I installed adobe acrobat pro, and it looks like it will do batch conversions, but only of post script files, not MS word. Which is a waste, because if I can save the files as post scrip, I might as well just save as PDF.
I also tried acrobat distiller, but it tells me it can not read the file type.
I know how to print, save to pdf for a single file, but I'm trying to streamline this process.
I'm not familiar with command line or scripting... I was hoping for an app.
    Anyone have ideas?
    thanks
    Ethan-

    Hi Ethan
Have a look at creating a WorkFlow with Automator which comes with your Mac.
You should be able to modify one of the batching routines in Automator to open folders of Word files and print to .pdf.
Get onto the Automator forum and see what specific assistance they can offer:

  • PDF conversion from Word - WMF display

I have created a PDF from a word document. It has WMFs inserted in the document using BuildBetter WMF.  The document displays correctly in word.  I have used the preset of "high quality" on the PDF conversion.  The document print quality is correct but I am having difficulty seeing the WMF drawing when displayed on the computer.  If I zoom in I can see the drawing fine.  Obviously it is a pixel problem.  How can I fix this?

You should be able to print to the Adobe PDF printer, but nothing else probably will work with OFFICE 2010 as Adobe told you. You probably can just wait until AA10. There are no current expectations of AA9 being updated to work with OFFICE 2010 (at least the PDF Maker part.).

Impossible to say without knowing full details about how you made the conversions before and what happens when you try now.
