Word trial is AWOL

I was told (in the store) that my new macbook was going to come with a trial version of MS word, but after installing everything, there is no icon for Word...does anyone know if I missed some step? thanks so much! This is my first mac.

Were you doing a custom install? You might have missed checking it if you did. Everything comes pre-installed. You could stick your 1st install disk while in leopard and when the window pops up choose install bundled software. Do a custom install and you should find it there. If not go to Microsoft and download a trial version from there.

Appleworks Icon opens Microsoft Word Trial Instead

Hi all. I'm sorry if this issue has come up before and I just didn't see it (I searched but didn't find anything).
I just bought a brand new 12" Powerbook (oct 31/05). I was looking for a wordprocessing program that comes with the OS (Tiger) and I am under the impression that this is Appleworks.
I searched for Appleworks on my computer and it pulled up an Appleworks icon. When I click on this it opens the Microsoft Word for Mac trial on my computer.
What is going on? I tried this straight out of the box, right after setup (registration, etc.).
I haven't used a Mac in quite a few years, but I'm pretty sure Appleworks isn't Microsoft Word.

Select an AW document's icon
cmd + i to open the Show infos window.
From the pop-up menu, choose "Open with application"
select "AppleWorks 629"
click on the button entitled "Change All".
After that, every file stamped with tha AW icon (the ones whose creator is named BOBO) will be open by AppleWorks 629.

RoboHelp 6 for Word Trial Version

I downloaded and installed the trial version of RoboHelp 6. I
am able to run RoboHelp HTML but can not run RoboHelp for Word.
After I select the desktop icon for RoboHelp for Word, I am
prompted to open one of the sample projects. I select a project and
click OK. I then receive a Windows error stating that the
application must close. Once I click Don't Send Message, RoboHelp 6
for Word closes.
I am running Windows XP sp 2 and Word 2003. I do not have any
prior versions of RoboHelp installed on this computer. The computer
meets the system requirements for RH 6 installation.
Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.

Did you install with your login and does that have admin
rights? If not the install will fail.

Convert PDF to Word Trial Offer

I signed up for the above to try before I buy, but it just keeps taking me to a buy now page. Please advise, as the trial period has not ended from the date I signed up for this.

Hi using free trial,
There is not, actually, a free trial of ExportPDF. Did you perhaps start an Acrobat 30-day trial? If you have Acrobat, you can save a PDF directly to Word format by choosing File > Save as Other > Microsoft Word > Word Document.

Robohelp 8 for Word: Problem with the Hotspot Topic

Hello Everybody:
I'm a beginner user of Robohelp 8 for Word trial version. My project is a WinHelp 2000, imported from a version X3, and I have a problem with Robohelp when I save the value "Topic" of the property "Jump" of the tab what is called "General" at the window "Hotspot Properties". This Hotspot is part of a Shed Image (accesible from Help Image Properties > Shed ... > Image Workshop > Properties button). After edit the topic, I press the "Aceptar" (OK) button (note that I use a Windows XP SP3 Spanish Version and some buttons are located) and close the Hotspot Properties window, and I close Image Workshop window too.
If immediately after I open the Image Workshop window and the same hotspot property window edited before, Robohelp lose the new value "Topic" and only it puts one letter. When I make the compilation they are multiple errors like this: HC3025: Warning: ESTA0058_2.SHG : Jump to undefined Topic ID: "A".
Please, help me. Thank you very much.

The licence you bought was for RoboHelp Office which includes both the RoboHelp for Word and RoboHelp HTML applications. Each of these three has it's own installation file so I suspect that they have installed just the RoboHelp HTML application. They should have the details for the RoboHelp for Word application, or better still the RoboHelp Office application which gives you the options of what to install according to your needs.

Keeps repeating "trial" on playback?

So I recently started streaming on twitch and using this program to filter the noise out around and amplify my voice some. It works perfectly except for the fact that when I stream it repeats the word "trial" every 5-10 seconds. I am using the trial at the moment, but this is pretty inconvenient as the trial doesn't really let me fully test it. D:
Any one else ever notice this? Or can anyone help? Or am I just stuck having to buy it just to get it to stop saying trial over and over?

Yeah I know. Ehh, maybe if I just try closing it and creating a new track in it with the same settings. I have no idea why it is, but some friends and I kept hearing it on a stream last night. Was weird.
I'll just keep messing with it.

Deleting Templates from My Templates

I have inadvertently saved things to my templates which I don't want and can't figure out how to eliminate them from My Templates. They include document information I want to keep out of view.

After much messing about (I should have looked here first!) I have deleted some pages Templates - and then found your post. I'm not sure if I should be posting here or somewhere in System, but neither Spotlight nor Google Desktop could find the template - or 'My Templates' in any iApp (though it would in the M$Word trial).
What puzzles me is that there is nothing deselected in the Spotlight Prefs that would (or even could) account for this behaviour.

Saving and opening files in textedit

i am a brand new macbook (and mac) user and saving my files for default opening with microsoft word, but also want to work on them as textedit as i haven't bought windows for mac yet, and am still on the trial period. until today i have had no problem reopening files as textedit again, in spite of having saved them as word. but today when i tried to open as textedit and was informed by a popup that i couldn't because it wasn't in the right format, and could have been corrupted or truncated. Can anyone help me understand what is going on? cheers

- Can you make a new file, type a couple of sentences, save as a word document, and open in text edit ?
- Are the files you can't open all old files?
- No matter what I do, I can't open a word file in Safari. I am assuming, "new to mac" means you were a Windows user. Were the files you are trying to open from your PC, if so, how did you get them on to the macbook?
All of this could have a bearing on your issue. Especially see if you can just create new file in your mac word trial program, type a couple of sentences, save, then try to open in Text Edit. If that works the legacy windows word files, or how you got them to the mac, could be the issue.

Printing a small picture without 3rd party software

Girlfriend bought a new mac (I convinced her), and wanted to test her new printer. I pressed appleshift4 to make a small picture clipping.
Normally, I would drag the image into Microsoft Word for Mac, and reshape, position, and resize the image there. But since her computer is new, this was not an option. Also, there was no Pages Trial version on her computer either for some reason.
Preview seems to be useless, but I may be wrong. When I print in Preview, it automatically makes the tiny image as big as it can get without going off of the paper. I couldn't find any other way to change the size of the image. I tried iPhoto and it seemed to me that it had limited ability in the resizing and positioning and such.
I'm probably missing something obvious, but is there a way to freely choose position and size of the printed picture on the page without downloading more software?

Does anybody know how to scale and position? I'm going to try iPhoto some more. Something as simple as positioning for printing shouldn't be this hard to find.

AS3 script to detect spacebar press and score using incremented var

Based on kglad's script there, I am trying to add scoring by detecting a spacebar press when a specific text item is displayed. If the user presses the spacebar while the text is in the text box, then it would increment a variable by +1 (++).
The script I've written to test this (using 1 var for one type of correct "hit" and a second var for a second type of "hit"), when added to the other script, doesn't work. The Flash debugging player freezes. A trace does not show anything, including incrementing of the variable.
Here's the script:

By way of explanation:
If the user sees a specific correct "target" word displayed during the 1000ms that it is displayed in the text box, and they press the spacebar, they would receive a +1 added to a score var (targetHit).
The exercise also needs to score/keep track of incorrect hits: when the user presses the spacebar when a specific distractor word is displayed during the 1000ms that it is displayed in the text box. This spacebar press would add +1 to the var distractorHit.
Substituting "if" seems to work.
Now, with the practice blocks of 16 each working sufficient (can tweak them later), need to move on to a slightly more challenging part of the exercise: the 70-word trial blocks.
Will close out this posting as "correct" and post a new question related to the more challenging 70-word versions.

Scanning Slides for Printing by 3rd Party: Maximum Print Size Wanted

I am wanting to license a series of vintage slides via my Zazzle.com store. The images scanned from the slides would be printed on the various products that they sell. Ideally I am looking to obtain the maximum resulting image size in the hopes of offering some of the designs on smaller sized posters. Some of the images were taken with everyday cameras while others were taken with expensive cameras such as a Zeiss Contarex so am guessing the film grain quality is going to vary although all are mounted in standard slide frames.
I wanting to scan slides, or have slides scanned, into a lossless format such as tiff for archiving purposes, which would then be copied and opened inside photoshop and illustrator. I also have negatives from box cameras and similar older materials, but want to tackle the slides first.
From reading the posts here the two main strategies appear to be:
1. Do it yourself:
I've read various posts that say this may take a specialized scanner costing $2,000, while others claim a Epson V500 does just as good of job - of course I wondering if the person using the Epson is wanting to print commercial products from the designs.
What machines are recommended for use with Lion?
Also there appears to be a debate about the best software, such as Digital Ice or VueScan? Any suggestions?
2. Hire a 3rd party service:
One main concern here is the items could get lost.
The other major concern is how good are the resulting slides going to be. I've looked at various 3rd party sites that offer scanning and each appears to offer a differing opinion as to what dpi should be used. I understand that at a certain point a higher dpi setting is not going to obtain any further helpful information from the slide, but what exactly is the maximum setting that I should be shooting for? I see services offering 4,000 dpi, yet some of the dedicated slide scanners can go much higher so I am wondering if these services are just wanting to use the lower dpi to save on the resulting image size as opposed to obtaining the maximum print size?

What software is included with the MBP 2009?

Hello All,
Am setting up my new MacBook Pro which I brought home from the store yesterday. I used Migration Assistant to transfer my data and existing applications. iLife apps appear to have been replaced with newer versions, but I've found no trace of an iWork trial, MS Word trial, Comic Life, Omni Outliner... no Quicken, games, demos, etc.
So I'm wondering what's included and where it's located...
The computer came with 2 DVDs: Mac OS install DVD and Applications Install DVD.
On the Applications DVD, if I select customize install, I see:
-cpu help files
-iPhoto (grayed out, cannot be selected)
-iMovie (grayed out)
-Garage Band
-iWeb
-iDVD
Should there be another DVD?
Where is the complete iLife restore software located?
Should there be a remote unit to use with Front Row, as is the case with the iMac Intel, or is that not included with the MBP?
