Word Web App can't open a document (corruption) but Word Desktop can

Hi,
My team and I are currently working on integrating a custom WOPI-Host and everything is going pretty good. While testing out different documents that will be used in the system to see the supported features and the reaction of Word Web App we found
a document that is problematic.
First things first, we took a document that was in Word 97-2003 version (.doc) and converted it in Word Documents (.docx). We had to actually use the Word Desktop Convert functionality because using "Save As" wouldn't work. We found
out that the document had Custom XML Data which was the reason that the "Save As" didn't work. So we did 2 version of the document in docx version. One that kept the Custom XML Data and one that didn't have it.
Now when we try to open the documents in the Word Web App, both trigger the same error: "Sorry, Word Web App can't edit this document because it appears to be corrupt.". What I don't really understand is that I can open them in the Desktop
version of Word without any problems. Also, if it was simply the Custom XML Data that would prevent Word Web App to open the document, how come the version of the document without these Custom XML Data is still considered corrupted by the Word Web App.
If needed, I can send the documents in question (probably by email since I don't see an option to attach them to this question).

I understand you can't open the Word documents from Word Web App, but may I know how you converted them? What is that "Word Desktop Convert functionality"? Would you please detail the steps of the conversation?
When you try the "Save As" method, any prompt or error? Can you keep saving just ignoring the error?
Before the conversation, I suggest you try removing the hyperlinks in the original .doc document, then convert the document to .docx format, check if then it can be opened from the Word Web App.

Office Web Apps don't open documents stored on Sharepoint server

We have Sharepoint Server 2013 installed on a AD domain controller and Office Web Apps installed on a machine in the same domain and configured for internal-http WOPI zone. Discovery XML works fine. When opening a MS Office document, Office Web Apps show
its label for a minute or two, and then display the message "Sorry, Web App can't open this document because the service is busy. Please try again later" or the message "Web App cannot open this document due to an unknown error."
Network logs show repeated requests to Docdatahandler.ashx to which Web Apps server each time responds with some XML saying it's busy, and to Reshandler.ashx to which the server each time responds with 404 status.

What went wrong, any suggestions?

Have you checked that by using normal user account or system account? Check by using normal user account,if error is still there then Office Web App server may not be configured properly,plz check the link for one of the causes of the issue

Project Online - web app does not open

Today my Project Online web app does not open. Error message is

Web Part catalog
I've not changed any web part. Can you please help out as I cannot access anything in project online.

Agree with Hrishi that you should open a service request, and if you can't log into your tenant, then use this URL to log into the administrative portal to log the service request:

Using MS Access Web App, can you set the tab order of the fields on a form? Doesn't appear to be a property. I don't see a programmatic method. I saw someone suggest using goto control on the after update event trigger but what if the person
doesn't edit the field? No event would be fired.

I am afraid you could not. In Web applications, the tab order is set automatically and cannot be changed.

The goto method is a workaround, but it should be triggered by a specific event. What I can figure out is changing the order of the fields.

As far as I know the language of the two stores on the iPad (iTunes and the App Store) can't be changed - they should be in the language of the country where your account is based (if they aren't correct then try logging out of your account by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and then log back in).

From the error message, I recommend to check the things below:
Check if Word Viewing service is started in Central Administration. If it is started, stop and re-start it.
Check if the Word Viewing service proxy is created.
Check if the Word Viewing service proxy is associated with web application with issue.
If above cannot work, please check the ULS log for further research.

Hiding the MS Word Web App toolbar in SharePoint Online Document Library

Hi Guys!
Badly needed your input on this scenario. I've created a document library in SharePoint Online but when I add a document I wanted the MS Word Web App toolbar to be hidden as I didn't want to have the document printed and downloaded. Just
want to have the file in read only mode.
I've come across subscription to IRM of Office 365 as a solution but it's kinda expensive for this need.
Any idea on how to resolve this scenario would be greatly appreciated.

Hi!
Even if I give a view-only permission to the user, still the print button is available and the document can still be downloaded to PDF file.
Also, the permission rights given to the users of the document library is contributor. But after routing for approval and the content is approved. It should be read-only even to the one who authored the document.
I've checked also IRM for a solution but unfortunately what we have is E1 package so IRM is out of the option.

Cannot open email in outlook web app. cannot re-open firefox because it doesnot completely close. uninstalled and re-installed several times.

I cannot open emails in my university's Outlook Web App. I cannot re-open Firefox after I exit because it doesn't really close down (parts still in Task Manager which I have to end before firefox reopens.). I have downloaded installed and re-installed. I run a desktop with Windows 7 ultimate and a 64-bit machine.

Do you have the Firefox icon on your quick launch? Right click

App for Office -- Opening a document -- Default behavior and options

I have created a simple App for Office with a task pane. After launching the application, when I open another (existing) document, it opens a new window. The new window does not have the task pane open.
Is there any way to open the new document in the same window as the original document? The task pane should also remain open.

According to the description, you want to keep the apps for Office inserted automaticlly when you open a new document.
As far as I know, this is not supported. Based on my understanding, when we insert the apps for Office into an document, there are some settings about apps are inserted. And since these settings will not inserted when we creating an new document, the apps
will not be inserted automaticlly.
If you do want Excel to support this feature, you can try to submit the feedback by click the "smile face" at the top right corner of Excel.

Deployed web app can't be server default?

hey folks.
i've deployed a web app (i can see it in the console under "web
apps").
i want to make this web app the default for my server. i went
to the "target" tab for the web app and made my server the target.
however, when i go to my server's HTTP page, there's nothing but
"none" in the "default web application" pulldown.
anyone have a clue? if you have this working, can you show me
the xml from config.xml? i will just enter it manually if all
else fails.

Check with support. Switching the default webapp by modifying config.xml is
more compilicated than I descripted in my post. I wish support could address
this regression ASAP.

I created a web app for iOS, when I add the web app to the home screen and launch the web app it loads correctly, my issue is when I tap to go to another page within my web app the page is then opened in Safari. Is there anyway of getting the page to display within the web app? Thanks,

How can i paste text from a web site to an open office document as rtf?

i'm running firefox under windows 7. i'm unable to copy text from web pages to the clipboard as rtf formatted data. tried pasting into ms wordpad and open office 3.3 writer. ie allows pasting as rtf text, but i'd prefer using firefox. why is rtf not an available format?

Can't open Reader V9. Says part of suite (CS4 Web Design), need to open other module. but getting error message 148.3

I'm running Windows 8.1. I had to create a new account identity because of some corrupted files. Now I can't open Reader V9. Message comes up saying it's part of a Suite (CS4 Web Design) and I need to open other module first. I tried opening Dreamweaver, got error message 148.3 and program closes, says to contact customer support. My CS4 Seb design suite is old and I've since gotten PS Extended CS5 and PS Extended CS6, but not a whole Suite. Perhaps the license needs to be re-entered but the program closes before I can do anything. Please advise.

Why does "There is no default app specified to open the document.."pop up

Hello. I'm still getting used to my iBook (I only had it for like a month now) and sometimes when I try to open different applications this message keeps coming up. It gives me the option to cancel or to choose an application, but just about all the application are in the light gray color and it won't let me select it. Help please! Thanks in advance

What kind of file is dir.data? What program do you think should open it? A .doc file is a Microsoft Word document. You could use AppleWorks or even TextEdit to open it. If you click on the file once to select it, you should be able to choose "Get Info" from the File menu. In the next window, you should be able to select AppleWorks or TextEdit to open the file.
