Word2007 to PDF conversion FONT issue!
I converted My 181 Page Word Document to PDF through the
PDFmaker(acrobat 9 pro)embeded into word2007. Everything Went
smooth almost a 1:1 replica.
The one issue I am having is that I noticed the PDFmaker did
not convert my Font properly, as I will explain in more detail
below.
My document has a total of 4 different fonts used. Below are
the 2 fonts, 1 of which did not convert properly.
PalladioURWTOT-Medium
PalladioURWTOT-MediumItalic (conversion Problem)
(side note these are open type fonts)
You see the main text used in my document is
"PalladioURWTOT-Medium" all the text files in that font came out
100% fine the problem occurs with the Italicize ones. in M$ Word
when you want to Italicize that font you click the "Italic icon".
When you do this word uses the "PalladioURWTOT-MediumItalic" font .
So in other words technically there are 2 different fonts, as the
Italicize version gives the font a very different look cause it's
using a specific font.
Now here is where the problem lies when I converted the PDF,
it seems the PDF maker looked at all the
"PalladioURWTOT-MediumItalic" fonts and instead made them
"PalladioURWTOT-Medium" and then adobe went and slanted the font
trying to iItalicize it. It therefore does not look at all like the
original "PalladioURWTOT-MediumItalic" and now I am at a loss as to
what I can do in order to get Acrobat to recognize this.
Here is what I assume is happing. I noticed in word when I
have a the Font selected in it says "PalladioURWTOT-Medium" as the
selected font, of course as you can see below i have the Italic
icon selected as well. Word2007 does not allow you to selected the
actual name PalladioURWTOT-MediumItalic since it already
understands that when you hit the icon that it will automatically
use the italic font.
Example
in WORD
here is a
"PNG
Image" I made to illustrate the issue i am having with the
fonts used and what supposedly happened
ANy help or suggestions would be very much appreciated as
this Issue has really cause some serious problems for me.

Smartform to PDF conversion having issue with Russian address
We are having a business situation we are the invoice in English language and the the address of ship-to party and sold-to party in Russian.
The issue we face is.
When the smartform is converted to PDF the Russian specific characters are missing in the PDF output. The same are perfect in the smart form print preview.
we are using CONVERT_OTF function module and we are getting the Russian characters correctly in the table parameter OTF.
We are using "SX_TABLE_LINE_WIDTH_CHANGE" and " SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1"
function module to attach and mail the pdf.
In the PDF we are missing the Russian specific characters .
For Example in "Sedláčkova čč" the output is "Sedláčkova " means "čč" is mising
Thanks in advance

JobyHi,
As described in note 999712 - PDF conversion for Unicode, there is a new unicode PDF converter PDFUC.
It depends on the SAP Version if you have to install the device type or not. You can check also via SPAD -> Full Administration -> Device Types -> Display.
You can pass the device type in the output options. I used:
SSFCTRLOP-no_dialog = 'X'.
SSFCTRLOP-getotf = 'X'.
SSFCTRLOP-langu = 'EN'.
SSFCOMPOP-tdprinter = 'PDFUC'.
If you specify a device other than printer in the control options like SSFCTRLOP-device = 'TELEFAX'., above will not work as
SSFCOMPOP-tdprinter is only evaluated for printer.
You have to check in SCOT -> Settings -> Device Types for Format Conversion.
You can make a general entry or for a specific language:
PDF SAPscript/Smart Forms PDFUC
PDF EN English SAPscript/Smart Forms PDFUC
Let me know if you get this working.

2014 Quark conversion font issue
I am having issues with the new 2014 Creative Cloud Indesign software. It might occur in other programs, too, but I haven't experienced it, yet. I have old Quark documents that I have to open in InDesign. They opened fine in the version before 2014. However, when I open the quark documents in the 2014 version, some of the Spanish letters and accents are replaced with weird glyphs. So, I have to open these Quark documents in the older InDesign software. It's annoying b/c Adobe seems to have made it very difficult to open a file with the previous version.
So I'm not sure what to do. I can't even find that much information about it on Google. Are other people experiencing this problem?Hi,

Font issues exporting PDF in Keynote 6.5
Is anyone else experience font issues exporting PDF's in Keynote 6.5?
My entire team has been having issues specifically exporting the font Merriweather. It's been fine in the presentation itself, but in the PDF - it's spaced out aggressively and the font weight/type/size is always wrong.
It's been a real hassle, as our brand body copy font is Merriweather and we've never had a problem with it.The conversion issue seems to be tied to OTF fonts. Converting Merriweather to TTF, deleting OTF versions from Font Book, and/or System Font Folder worked for us. Clearing font cache and restarting can further flush out any legacy conflicts.

PDF Format Oracle Reports font issue
My process is generating the batch oracle Reports.
Their key map is:
Key1: %* server=server1 userid=xxxs/xxx@xxxx report=D:\sample.rdf destype=file desformat=PDF
My process is calling IAS server to generate report. IAS ser is generating and saving the report in the specified location.Reports are running on the server locally and DESTYPE=FILE. So the Oracle Reports output is saved on the server itself. Whenever i open the report on my machine/server i have font issue. Some of the reports has very tiny font. It seems the reports generated by using oracle reports which is Arial Unicode font type is causing the problem. If any reports other then Arial Unicode font like Arial Westrn, those reports are fine. We have 1000s of reports. So we don't want to change each report font type. For me it seems the issue is with the font on the server. Is there anyway to ask App server use Arial Westrn if Arial Unicode not found. How to make these configuration changes in the server. Any suggestions please.Maybe this helps or at least points you in some direction ...
Have a look at font aliasing when configuring Application Server : http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/bi.1012/b14048/pbr_font.htm#i1006140
If your Application Server is located on Windows I would suggest to install the fonts there.
In Unix, this a more complex task. -
I recently added some new fonts to my directory. Since then, I have had font issues with my pdf's and previews where the characters are illegible. I have tried using disabling fonts on Font Book for pdfs, and tried using Font Finagler and FontNuke to clear all font caches. The problem only seems to effect pdf's. I am operating on OSX 10.6.7. Does anyone have any suggestions that might fix this problem.
I was getting a "Missing Font" message and the explanation on the forum is that a bug in 10.6.7 caused the OS to UNEMBED fonts in PDF files!
Don't know who said that, but it's incorrect.
I built a simple text document with three lines of text. Opened three fonts not on the system, applied one each to a line of text and saved a PDF using Apple's built in PDF generator.
I then disabled the fonts and deleted them. With no fonts to find and the comment being true that fonts are not embedded, the PDF should display incorrectly. It didn't. I looked exactly as it should, meaning the fonts had to be embedded in the file. -

Font issue in exported PDF from indesign
Font issue in exported PDF from indesign:
In Indesign file we have kept a sentence in “Univers LT Std” (San serif font) with all caps style that was orginally in lower case. Refer below
When we selected the sentence in exported PDF some of the characters are not selected. Refer below.
If we enable “create tagged PDF“ in export PDF setting, then the problem is solved. Refer below.
Can you please check why this problem happened? In another project also we have faced this same problem but different font “Frutiger LT Std” with all caps style. Here also same San serif font. Please check and advise to solve this issue permanently.Without tags a PDF is a silly amount of letters, images and lines, with tags all itams a kept in their semantic context. So work with tags as it is the only way to get correct selections and export to other file types like Word DOCX.
Without tags InDesign reads from left to right from top to bottom and the font geometry might influence the correct order of letters.
Why should anyone work without tags today? If you open a tagged PDF in Acrobat DC it is much faster than without tags. -
Converting a PDF to a SWF Font issues
Hi,
Maybe somebody out there has seen this and can guide me in
the right direction?
I am trying to convert PDF files into a flash book using the
flashprinter product.
Here is an example of the PDF I am trying to convert. (you
should see it is using the
following fonts PostScript Fonts - HelveticaNeue-HeavyCond,
HelveticaNeue-LightCond, HelveticaNeue-LightCondObl,
NewsGothic and NewsGothic-Bold).
http://www.sendd.com/~webdrop/htdocs/200704/FontProblems.pdf
When this gets converted to the Swf (LOOK at the file ZOOM+
Mode)
http://www.sendd.com/~webdrop/htdocs/200704/EZBlue_v11t.swf?RRDid=aFC3tehrg1VGCUIylKIQ
Once I saw what was happening I thought it was a font issue
and I made up a page with all the fonts used by using the ATM
sample viewer.
http://www.sendd.com/~webdrop/htdocs/200704/AllFontsUsed.pdf
(Look at the SWF file in the ZOOM + mode view - looks great)
http://www.sendd.com/~webdrop/htdocs/200704/EZBlue_v11t.swf?RRDid=6J5LSHAZKnf9qPXa1VGk
If anybody out there can help that would be great,
thanks,
Swf_tryingHey Joseph,
Please tell me whether you are able to convert any other PDF file to excel format or not?
What exact error message do you get?
Are you trying to convert a scanned PDF document?
Hope to hear from you.

PDF Conversion for Ukraine Fonts.....
Hi all,
Thank You very much in advance....
I have developed a Smart form having Ukraine Fonts (Letters in Ukraine Language). If I give Print preview or Printout to local printer, I am able to see correct Ukraine fonts.
In my Driver Program I am using the FM CONVERT_OTF to convert to the smart form to PDF.Finally If I open the PDF, Ukraine fonts are not getting printed correctly but english fonts are getting printed correctly (As my smart form contains some english letters as well).
Can you please help me on this...
Regards,
K.krishna Chaitanya.Hi for my new smart form, I am using a smart style in which Font is Courier ........
Same smart style I am using for one more smart forms which contains Russian fonts...But PDF is correctly printing Russian characters..............
So is there any patches I need to install for the PDF reader......... -
hello,
we send a sapscript form via FAX. there are traditional chinese characters on it. when the form is printed through fax, the traditional chinese characters can not print correctly. all characters with font TWSONG become some small dot.
the output format of FAX is PDF(configure it in tcode SCOT)
the device type of PDF conversion for language ZF is TWPDF.
if we send the same form via email. we will get a PDF file as attachment. when we open the PDF file, the adobe reader will tell us some font missing, then download the font. if we don't download the font, all characters with font TWSONG will also display as small dot.
for mail case, we can ask our users to download the font package. but for FAX case, how can we solve this issue?i think it's also caused by font missing.
by the way, Simplified Chinese form works well in this FAX case. it can be print correctly through same FAX machine.(devcie type CNPDF,font CNSONG)How about this issue ? We have meet the same issue and I don't know how to corret it ,please give me some suggestion

Hello, I have an issue when performing the Spool to PDF conversion. I am using FM CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF to convert an ALV list to a PDF file. When I run my report in the foreground, everything works correctly, the PDF file is attached and then emailed to the appropriate recipient. When I schedule the job to run in the background, the contents of the attachment that is created is truncated on the right side cutting off half of the report (the font is also larger). I am out of ideas on how to solve this issue. Any help would be appreciated.
