WordPress, Contribute and XMLRPC

Hey All. I am having some issue with Contribute connection to
WordPress on my server.
Error: Please make sure you have sufficent permissions...
Well i am the Admin, so i have gave XMLRPC CHMOD 777 to be on
the safe side, along with the root folder, buts its not worked.
The url to it is

I am using this as the access point to my blog,
the page says Forbidden, i have visited the main wordpress
website and used this extension on some one elses blog and you get
a very different response...
XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only.
Bingo, the problem must be that file. But i have no idea how
to sort it out, in the contribute user name i am entering the Blog
user name and password, is this correct or should it be my sevre
username and password?
I have tryed it with a manual and cpanel install of
wordpress, does exactly the same to drupal too, any help would be
very appreciated, thanks all

I am having a similar problem. I can't connect to a blog
because of insufficient permissions. But I've changed the
permissions everywhere I can think to , and keep getting the same
result...
"Error: Please make sure you have sufficent permissions..."
Is this a common problem, something new? I've connected to a
number of blogs with contribute, and this is the first time I've
seen this.
Any suggestions?

Contribute and Dreamweaver

I was wondering if it is ok to work back and forth between
Dreamweaver and Contribute, also, I was wondering if I need to
change my ftp connection do I just need to make a new connection
key in contribute and also make a new connection to the server in
dreamweaver? I'm making a site for a client and they haven't
decided if they are going to host it or if we are going to host it.
If they decide to host it I'm going to have to change my whole
connection and I'm just wondering if I'm going to be able to do

I would use containers outside the editable region to help
control styles. For example, if you wanted a styled list, but
wanted Contribute to work well with it, you could do something like
the following. Tables are also useful to use because they are
easier to edit in Contribute. You could also redefine p tags, h1-5
tags, li tags, etc. per div container.

Contribute and 2 css files

I have developed a site for a client in Dreamweaver using css
for font styling. I also use Tab Bar Magic from Project Seven,
which has it's own css file. My client uses Contribute and only the
css menu. He is confused with so many style options and starts
using the P7TBM styles, which do not work right for our content. Is
there any way to hide a css style sheet in Dreamweaver or ???

If you put the PVII code in a template in a noneditable
region and then
attach the PVII style sheet to the template only ... do the
PVII styles
still show up in the Contribute child pages?

Contribute and Project Seven Plugins

I have a client that has Contribute and wants to do more
updating of their website and ultimately manage the majority of
content updating themselves. I suggested Contribute and they have
that. However, the website uses several PVII plugins, specifically
Tab Bar Magic, Tab Panel Magic and Accordion Panel Magic.
Since I don't use Contribute at all and have the full
DWCS3/Adobe CS3 Suite I am wondering:
1. Should I recreate a more "Contribute friendly" template
and website design that will be easier for the client to update
using Contribute? If so what are the issues surrounding this if I
am using PVII plugins? Should I scrap using PVII plugins
altogether?
2. Should the client invest in the full DWCS3 and purchase
PVII plugins so they can have ultimate control of adding new pages
based on the template design and so forth without any plugin
issues?

Thanks for the reply. I am going to download the Contribute
CS3 and play with it. However, I believe my client has Contribute 3
and not the CS3 version. Will that matter any?
The template for the website already has a "main body"
editable region which is where new content can be added on a blank
page from scratch.
Okay so it's confirmed my client does not need to purchase
any P7 plugins. I was not clear how that worked with Contribute. I
am assuming the plugin effects just appear as they would but the
client can't edit any of that? Maybe once I have the trial program
I can see this for myself and answer it that way.
Also, you say the P7 plugins do not mess up edit mode. Again,
maybe I can best understand this when I toy around in the
application.
My only other question is since the client has Contribute 3
and I will be using a trial of Contribute CS3, will there be a
significant new set of features I will see that they will not?
Lastly, looks like CS4 is coming or at least it's announced. Should
I recommend my client upgrade to Contribute CS3 or wait until
Contribute CS4 comes out? Please advise, thanks!

Issues with transfer between contribute and dreamweaver

Hello!
I just installed the Adobe Creative Suite 3 the Master
Collection for my macbook and I am having issues when I open
contribute and then try to edit the sites in external application
i.e dreamweaver an error message comes up saying make sure that
dreamweaver is installed and that there is enough memory.
Please help me remedy this issue!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
The usual reason for this is that you’re using a different colour space in Photoshop. Try using sRGB in both, see if it helps.

Contribute and Wordpress

Hello,
I'm trying to use COntribute to edit my own wordpress blog:-

It is working kind of ok however I cannot select a category
for my post.
I do get the following error when trying to select a category
from the new blog entry page:-
'While executing receiveArguments in

I started bloging and podcasting about two years ago and I tried more than one platform for blogging and for podcasting. At last I settled on wordpress.com for blogging and through which I started my podcast on itunes. After sometime I found that it was important to change the image as well as the description found on itunes. Here all the problems started. I have been trying for about one year to change how my podcast looks on itunes but there is no hope. I contacted itunes support and wordpress support who are both very helpful but they told me that the problem is not from their side. I tried to change my feed through feedburner more than once but nothing changed.

I sure have played a lot and I think that I messed up my blog and my feed and my podcast but really I do not know exactly where I messed things up. This is one of the mails that I sent to both itunes and wordpress support with some modifications and I am sending it now on this forum in case anyone could help me.
I have always thought that I have one podcast but on the itunes program on my computer I found two almost identical podcasts with the title "محطة كاسا مصر" (this is written in Arabic only) and another one with both Arabic and English "محطة كاسا مصر- Casa Egypt Broadcast". When I right clicked the image on the left I found a "Show Description" button in the drop down menu. I clicked it for both podcasts and I found that the image of the Arabic podcast (the upper one on the itunes image) disappeared but the description was updated unlike the the Arabic English one in which the exact opposite happened. I tried to open both in itunes store but both showed the old unchanged image and description.
I really don't know which one is the correct one for my blog as both display the same episodes. By the way, I used to have a lot of other posts but I do not know where they went. Now I don't care about those lost or hidden episodes as much as I care about the other issues I have.
This is the Arabic only one. (I want the description but there is no image here)

As you can see from both images that the url shown in both information boxes are different. I am trying to contact any one from feedburner support but I do not know how to reach them as I think that the problem is in it. However, because I modified the feed http://feeds.feedburner.com/imananddinasbroadcast and nothing changed, I redirected it to another feed and then I deleted this feed.
Is there any way to change the feed in itunes? The only feed I have now is http://feeds.feedburner.com/CasaEgyptStation
I tried to restore the feed http://feeds.feedburner.com/imananddinasbroadcast but feedburner refused.
I know that I missed things up but I still have hope in working things out.

Server definition goes suddenly wrong with Wordpress site and DW CS5

Let me explain this simply.
I install a worpdress site, normally, on my local server (xampp).
After setting up the site with the web-install thingy, I start DW.
I set a definition site with the new (not at all improved) site definition dialog-box.

Setting up names, access via network/lan, select correct local root folder, set up correct site URL (http://localhost/wp).
Everything works just fine. Setting up "advanced" "server/technology" to "MySQL/PHP is not forgotten.

I click on the appropriate checkbox (setting server as testing server).
Well, to that point, if I've made any mistake, this would surprise me.
Opening the index.php base file of my wordpress works just fine. It detects "dependant files" perfectly.
Everything is displayed in the bar. Live view, Inspect and Live code work all fine together. I'm able at this point
to start working. So going back and forth from the wp admin panel and DW I do my tunings (install themes within the admin panel,
modify their CSS inside DW, install extensions and so) everything is still just perfect. I can filter dependant files (for instance to just
have *widget* or *footer* related files.).
To that point, I'm ok. But suddenly (or when I close the main index.php file) and try to reopen it, I have a very funny message
in the bar that should display my dependant files : "well, i cannot display the files I previously displayed because there is a site configuration error,
would you like to reconfigure or to retry discovering files". Well clicking both of the options result in ... nothing...
Trying to reconfigure the server is also pointless (everything is the same). Redifining a site, setting alternate testing servers, anything :
it simply stay stuck to that silly error message.., silly in the sense that if I try to use live view, live code and inspection, the page would just display
fine. I can Alt-click on elements to have a view to the selectors that style the elements. So it works... partially... except for the files thet are no more discovered.
It's beens 5 times this "funny" event happened to me, I gave up last week. I reinstalled totally from scratch a new wp today. It crashed again 20 minutes ago.
Any idea ?

Looking for a good gallery that can be easily updated by the user in contribute. All the ones I have found are too complicated for the general user to add/edit photos

Not that I know of, but you definitely need a relational database for this, and FileMaker is the best there is.
It might be worth asking them if they already have a template for your purpose.
Of course, they also make a simpler and cheaper version called Bento:

Installing Contribute (and Studio 8) errors

The installer goes through installing all programs in Studio
8 until it gets to Contribute, then it stops and I get the message:
"The InstallScript engine is missing from this machine. If
available, please run ISScript.msi, or contact your support
personnel for further assistance."
I am logged in as Administrator, have turned off all McAfee
anti-virus programs and the XP Firewall. I called Adobe Support 3
times on Friday afternoon but they are now closed for the weekend.
I have done what support asked using the technote to replace and
reinstall the version 10 msi. I have now done this five times and
rebooted each time. I have installed all Windows XP Security
updates and have 4G ram. I can't think of what else to try.
Can anyone help?

Adobe support finally found a solution to this. For Windows
XP and 2000
(a) You need to reinstall the IsScript engine to resolve this
error. Please

(b) download Contribute 3.11 and install. (It's about 35mb in

I'm going crazy!!! Contribute and .mac!!

hey guys, its been about 10 hours now and I still can't figure this out. So here goes.
Before anyone says " do a search" yeah i did that, can't find my answer, that was part of the 10 hours. And i am running the latest of everything.
My problem, I am a small business trying to put up a website. I signed up for a .mac account and began using the templates and so for. And I decided that I don't like them and want a flash site. I bought macro studio or suite 8 whatever its called. I want contribute to take my flash site and put it to my mac account. ( i bought a flash template on the internet and then made it my own)
with contribute As soon as it pops up It can connect to my .mac site!!
I was like wow this is easy... but no.. nothing for me is easy. I have to simpliest things come the hardest.

Let me make things clear from the outset...this is not an iWeb issue. The issue is that Contribute only works with the Homepages system in .Mac. So the general URL that you are given is indeed correct...

Unfortunately, this URL is incomplete. You need to specify a valid "index.html" file that Contribute is saving to your iDisk/Sites folder.
For example, you can put any kind of html files into the iDisk/Sites/ folder and have it displayed by Homepage. Let's say that I have a website. I put all the files for this website in a folder called "MyHomepage"...and inside this folder there is an index.html file that launches the website. So what I do is to drag this "MyHomepage" folder into your iDisk/Sites/ folder. Then the URL to this website is the following...
http://homepage.mac.com/eyeswideproductions/MyHomepage/index.html
Do you get the pattern?
Look inside your iDisk right now. Go to the Sites folder and see what is in there. Maybe Contribute saved your website in a folder there. If so, you are golden. Just tack this folder name onto your Homepage URL as I've illustrated above. You should see your website show up!

WordPress, PodPress and iTunes

Egads! I've lost my feed! OK. So, I just switched over from iWeb to a brand new WordPress blog. All looked great until I tried to switch my iTunes feed over to the new page. At first, I thought it might be some kind of disconnect or error in the way that I coded the redirect, but then I tried to paste the feed directly into iTunes, and that isn't working either. iTunes is not recognizing the feed, regardless of what I try. I'm uncertain if its some kind of error in my call, or in the XML itself, but I can't pinpoint the problem.
I started off with WordPress and PodPress, but PodPress' RSS documents weren't validating well, so I installed the iPodCatter plugin, which seems to have cleaned up the XML just fine. The validator sure seems to love it.
There are a number of moving parts, so I'm not sure what's breaking what, but here goes:
Problem 1
If I try to subscribe directly to my feed by copy and pasting any of my feeds directly into iTunes, only ATOM works. RSS and RSS2 both come up with the error that the file "can't be found on the server".

Since the direct call to wp-rss.php and wp-rss2.php seem to be the failing point of both problems, I think that if I can figure out why iTunes isn't reading wp-rss2.php, both problems will fall into place.
Any thoughts?

OK. I don't actually have a true "fix" for this. I'm not sure why the RSS files are acting the way they are. I'm not 100% sure, but I think PodPress rewrites the RSS2 page and causes problems. I'll have to look at the RSS page as well and see if there isn't a problem with that, too.
I was using iPodCatter's RSS2 code, and I think that PodPress was adding code to it, so what a mess. Can't prove it. I'm an artist, not a programmer.
Anyway, I just went through the RSS2.php and started cutting out code until I stopped getting repeat feeds and the page validated.
So, that's it.
If anybody knows what's REALLY going on here, please feel free to add to this post for posterity's sake.

Contribute and Pop-Up windows

Hi there,
Offently I have user that want pop-up windows on their site
to provide enlarged view of thumbnail pics to their website
visitors. Of course with a little javascript fonction and a link do
the trick.
But how to provide Contribute Users the possibility to add
more thumbnails and a larger associated view in a pop-up window
using a javascript link?

Any idea?

I usually create some javascript/php app that calls image
files from a specific folder. In that folder the Contribute user
uploads images (menu: File, Publish file from my computer) and the
thumbnails can be created dynamically. Some lightbox scripting
would be nice to, instead of using popups.

Integrating Contribute and Lightroom?

Hi All
Is it possible to integrate a Lightroom style javascript with
Contribute? I'm looking for a suitable solution for a client, I
still run Contribute 3 but I know from v4 onwards it's possible to
upload images to a folder on the Contribute administered site. If
the later versions allow specifying a "rel" (and "title" also)
parameter when linking to an image file, then many of these
Lightroom style scripts will work perfectly in a Contribute system.
Is this possible in Contribute 4 or later?
Maybe there's a Spry script which will give the same result?
Other than that there must be php/cfml scripts which create
image galleries on the fly, but are there any which will handle
static images, flash, quicktime, and music automatically and within
the same gallery?
Any suggestions welcome.

Contribute and Dreamweaver / Network Drive!

Hi All!
Due to security limitations, the site I manage has no ftp
access (the entire site is uploaded to a remote server each time as
a zip file). Also, we have no local testing server so the entire
site is actually administered on a local network drive. I have the
site set up in Dreamweaver but we have Contribute on a second
machine in the office and I'd like to set the site up so that I can
administer it through dreamweaver while an editor would be able to
make simple edits through Contribute.
The editor can connect to the local drive with Contribute
without issue but I'd like to enable Contribute compatibility in
Dreamweaver to allow check-in/check out. In the 'site definition'
dialog in dreamweaver, under the 'Contribute' category, I checked
'Enable Contribute compatibility' but it also asks for the Site
Root URL. However, this site has to be administered on the local
network drive (I tried using the path as the site rool url) so I
can't figure out if it even going to be possible to set it up to
work.
Is it even going to be possible to set up the site,
Dreamweaver and Contribute to work together on a local drive
instead of an actual server?

Hi, Vicky,
In the site setup section there is a Contribute tab. Checkmark the "Enable Contribute Compatibility". It should walk you through the setup steps. It's been some time since I set one up so I can't recall exactly what you do. I do remember it wasn't particularly difficult. Hope that helps.
