WordPress: How often do you upgrade?

I'm fairly new to WordPress and wondering how often people actually upgrade their installation and plug-ins?  I began with 3.0 and up'd to 3.01 not long ago. Noticed today that 3.02 is available.  I'm always a little afraid of upgrades wreaking havoc on the current site.
Do you have a set of procedures in place in case the latest upgrades mess things up?
All input appreciated...
Many thanks,
Nancy O.

My opinion of WP is that it's intended for users that don't know much, if not anything about dynamic web development and just want to slap something together quickly and call it a website. The open source community is a open door for poor coding mods that require frequent updates to update the security because of vulerabilities. It's not a problem if you know of the problems that can occur. Be prepared for continuous, undocumented upgrades and countless hours working around the system to have a site that not only looks anf functions how you'd like it to, but is also secure. Fortunately I know php so I don't rely on limited solutions like wordpress for the professional sites I develop. Have fun with wordpress, but don't give up your day job.

As the subject suggests, I'm curious to know how often Arch users pacman -Syu, and more importantly, why.

  • How often do you upgrade popular/most downloaded?

I have a popular colour combo on Kuler but other colours with lesser downloads and ranking are higher on the popular and most downloaded lists. Why is that?
As I'm fairly new to Kuler, I'd also like to add that I really enjoy it and am getting slightly addicted. Kuler has been of great help! So - thanks and keep up the good work!

    Hi Adobengt,
What is the name of the Kuler theme your are seeing this behavior with?

  • Do you know where is the rules of engagement ? How often do you read It ?

    Hi,
Do you know where is the [rules of engagement|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/x/FgQ] ?
Many people know exactaly where it is, but i noted that major of SCN never read this document.
Today i noted this document link in:
Left box menu in [Community Guidelines|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/communityguidelines] on the folowing pages: [Forum|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/forums] , [Wiki|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki] and [Blogs|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs].
    [Expert Forums|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/index.jspa?categoryID=1]
    Some Forum has a locked thread like [Welcome and Rules of Engagement|Welcome and Rules of Engagement;
There people that never saw this document before. Others already saw but they never read( this is other problem ).
The SCN is a dinamyc community so the rule can be changed at any moment. How often do you check it for updatings  ? We know that the general rule probably won't be changed but new rules can be added !
Wouldn't It be a good idea if this document link stay in All Threads next to link Reply to this Thread or in any place of this page ?
    Thanks,
    Marcelo Ramos

    Hi Marilyn,
Please tell me if I'm wrong but when I see new SCN member or someone that doesn't respect the community's rules I add the one of the following phrase:
"Welcome to SDN Forum. Don't forget to read the [rules of engagement|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/home/rulesofEngagement] !" As the follow [thread|Program with Top includes;.
"Don't forget to close this thread and all yours previous when your question be answered !" As the follow [thread|ABAP or MII;.
"Lets make the SDN better we are responsible for this !" As the follow [thread|want to upgrade GUI to ECC 6.0.;.
    "PS.: Others SDN member can use your question resolve their problems, so is important you don't forget to mark this Thread as answered when your question be answered !" As the follow [thread|SAP ECC 6.0 GUI;
I noted that it's working for some people ! mainly for New SCN members !
    Best Regards.

  • How often can you use o2 refresh?

I'm just over a year into a 2 year contract and was considering using o2 refresh to get a better phone, but what if I wanted to this again in a years time? How often are you allowed to do it? Thanks

If this is your first O2 refresh, and you are already with O2 on a standard 24 months contract (ie CPW) you also get 25% on the current contract cancellation fee.If you log in to my O2, and choose upgrade, it will tell you how much you have to pay

  • How often should you do the maintenace cron scripts??

    Hi all,
As the subject suggests, I just like to know how often should you run those maintenace cron scripts???
    thanks...

    * I don't know if this is the place for this question, if not, then I am sorry. *

    macuserguy,
You may find Dr. Smoke's excellent FAQ about Running the Mac OS X maintenance scripts helpful.
The FAQ suggests approximately weekly basis (especially if your Mac is shutdown or in sleep mode overnight) though perhaps more frequently if you have a smaller HD as these log files can take up alot of room.
    Hope that helps some,

For proper maintenance of a lithium-based battery, it’s important to keep the electrons in it moving occasionally. Be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).

  • How often do you -Suy?

after searching archstats, i wonder that a lot of different versions of pkgs are being run - is this because you do not -Suy frequently? let's find out!

Then there should be a poll: "How often do you archstats -u"
if you want to use archstats, then you should also run its -u after every pacman -Suy ... else, it is not serious statistics

  • Superduper users - How often do you clone?

Just bought Superduper and am in the process of cloning my 2 internal 1TB drives. Moving forward I'd like to do this on a regular basis. How often do you clone/smart update your drives?
Can I set SD to smart update both drives when I'm done at night, on after another, or both at the same time? Also, do you automate your updates? I'm a little wary of that just in case something happens to the source drive and I don't get a chance to get to it before the clone occurs. Thanks!

Leave one backup as is for your system that you know works, so you may want
10.6.5, 10.6.6, two copies of your working system that you rotate with, a small clone of OS X from when you first install that is Apple-only, clean, nothing extra except essentials.
Data: as needed, daily or whatever
Can't run SD concurrently (shame) and one set of backups for each should be off line at any given time.

  • How often are you using the Internet on the iPhone?

I was wondering how often you guys are using the Internet on the iPhone?
Do you guys enjoy using the the Internet on it?
Also, do you like the keyboard on it?
Just letting you know that I am typing this on my iPhone!!
    Sam

I flew from PDX to DAB today browsing the internet both via wi fi (fast) and Edge (slow, but usable) at various airports and other locations. This browser is the best! I do not have to take a laptop with me anymore. The re size feature is the key, all phone browsers will have this in the future.
Its been years since I was excited about anything in the tech world (and I own a Software company) but I gotta hand it to Apple they really did a job with the iPhone.

  • How often do you use the List bar to Navigate

    Hi Ppl,
I'm trying to build a custom sequence editor. In the Sequence Editor while the executions are run the sequence file view tab is open. So most of the time I use the tab's to navigate between sequence view and execution view. However in the full featured UI the sequence view is not visible while executing. So we have to navigate using the list bar.
I wanted to know will it be better to implement the way sequence editor displays the sequence view while executing. I can use a combo box to navigate to various sequence files and executions within the respective views. How often you guys use the list bar to navigate ?
    Thanks

Of course I have no idea what "isn't so great" means. Relative to what?
Is it worse than the current user search?
Is it better that the current user search but not as improved as the new forum search?
    Is it just different?
Are the user search results better, but the interface is harder to use?
One thing could be improved. There should be a way to sort partial matches by the number of posts so inactive members don't  clutter the first dozen pages of the search result. For example, if I search for "Dennis", I want him on top of that huge list. (many, many pages!)
If I search for "Dennis K" I still want partial matches, but currently there is no result if I do that. (Why does "Dennis" return many matches while "Dennis K" returns nothing (!!?), and "Dennis Knutson" again works????)
To answer your questions as best I can, the new user search is just different. The way that it presents information is different (you can check out Lithium's community to see what I mean). When I do a search, the user I expect to show up first does not necessarily show up first - in that way, it's about the same as your Dennis example. I think the current search works better for me because as an Admin I get the ability to search more fields.
On the plus side, you get the option to sort the user results by Login name (alphabetically), rank, posts, or registration date, all which could help you with finding Dennis.
So to summarize, I think the actual results will be similar with some added sort functionality. The user interface is very different, in more of a grid view as opposed to a list.   I don't know that I would classify it as better or worse.  That's a great wishy-washy answer, right?
    Thanks,
    Laura
