WordPress page, weird display in Firefox-Mac

Hello,
My client has a WordPress blog, and he tells me that when he
view his latest
post in Firefox/Mac, he sees a "milky white overlay" on top
of the page, and
that this "overlay" prevents him from being able to click
anywhere where it
is.
He says "It does not seem to affect Firefox on Linux nor
Safari on Mac."

My wordpress page displays with elements covering one another only in Firefox. Chrome and IE are fine if IE is switched to compatibility mode

I am working on a Wordpress page, theme developed by a custom developer (not me). When we view the page in Chrome and IE it is fine - although we had to modify compatibility settings in IE to get it to look right. In Firefox, we are having the same problem we had in IE before the fix - the boxes in the body of the page are laying under the sidebar items. The page was laid out as a table to allow elements to align properly.
http://www.whoholdsthecardsnow.com/coaching-2/ is the page we are having problems with. The other pages load fine, so I am assuming that it is the table layout that is causing the problem.
I don't see any way to attach documents so I can't show you what it is doing for me.
Help please!

Adding width:100%; to that image seems to work.
max-width: 100%; doesn't seem to work in Firefox.

Newly created images will not display in Firefox 8 for Mac. Same images appear in other browsers. Why?

1. Specific new images are uploaded but will not display in Firefox 8 on my Mac with OS 10.6.8. (Does appear in other browsers, e.g., Chrome and Opera, and appears on Firefox 8 for PC.) Also, other images on the page display.
2. I have cleared cache, cookies, etc., in Recent History, and restarted both application and computer.
3. I've tried creating GIF, JPG and PNG, but none show on the page in Firefox on my Mac. I can see the offending image in other browsers such as Chrome on the same computer, and on Firefox on PC. You can use these steps to check if images are blocked:
*Open the web page that has the images missing in a browser tab.
*Click the website favicon ([[Site Identity Button]]) on the left end of the location bar.
*Click the "More Information" button to open the "Page Info" window with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
*Go to the Media tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.
*Select the first image link and scroll down through the list with the Down arrow key.
*If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "Block Images from..." then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

Looking at [http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/82591/in-powerpoint-web-app-2013-ppt-is-not-displayed-correctly-in-mac-os-mozilla-fire your screen shot] it reminds me of a problem with Flash on the Retina display not using the full area if hardware acceleration of graphics is disabled. See [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/968863 I'm only getting one quarter of a screen on Flash Player on Firefox] (unsolved).
Not sure if that's relevant but does the display of the slide change if you make sure that hardware acceleration is enabled? The checkbox is here:
Firefox menu > Prefences > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
Note that any changes take effect after you exit and restart Firefox.
To see whether Firefox actually is using hardware acceleration, you can check the troubleshooting information. Either:
* Help > Troubleshooting Information
* type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
Toward the end, in the Graphics section, look for this row:
GPU Accelerated Windows
The number will show a ratio of accelerated to non-accelerated window. If hardware acceleration is disabled, the first number will always be zero.
By the way, is the SharePoint PPT viewer using Flash, or Silverlight, or another plugin? Typically Firefox will display an icon that looks a bit like a "Lego" block in the address bar showing what plugins are in use in the page.

Restart your Mac and immediately hold down the Shift key when you hear the startup chime to boot into Safe Mode. Keep holding the Shift key until you see a progress bar towards the bottom of the screen. You can let go of the Shift key at that point.
OS X asks you to log in (you will get this screen on a Safe Mode boot even if your Mac is set to automatically log in). Let the Mac finish booting to the desktop and then restart normally. This will clear Font Book's database and the cache files of the user account you logged into in Safe Mode.
Next, close all running applications. From an administrator account, open the Terminal app and enter the following command. You can also copy/paste it from here into the Terminal window:
sudo atsutil databases -remove
Terminal will then ask for your admin password. As you type, it will not show anything, so be sure to enter it correctly.
This removes all font cache files. Both for the system and the current user font cache files. After running the command, close Terminal and immediately restart your Mac.

Firefox sent an email to me to confirm that I had asked the above question. The email had a link to click. When I clicked it from Firefox, nothing happened. Then I opened IE, signed into Comcast, opened the email, clicked the link, and it brought me here.

I cannot print pages displayed by firefox, the printing just hangs when I go to File--- Print and press print.

If I want to print a page displayed by Firefox, I do the usual, I go to file, choose Print and press Print on the print window. Then the printer just hang, nothing happens.

There's no "pages" of information, it's one long page of preferences.
'''print.printer''' will be listed multiple times, there are like 3 dozen or more preferences for each printer. If you have more than one printer there will be groups of prefs for each printer.
You can try resetting only '''print.print_printer''' and then restart Firefox, and see if that solves your problem. But chances are that you may need to reset every pref for that printer.
Also make sure that you don't have multiples of the same prefs for that printer. It is very possible that you may find duplicates like this or similar.

(2) or (3) in a pref means you have multiple prefs for the same printer ''(usually caused by installing the print drivers multiple times without uninstalling the old drivers first)'', and that can cause problems with Firefox; the "printer" driver you select probably ain't gonna be the one that is really "installed". If you see something like that, you will definitely need to reset every pref for that printer; the duplicates will be gone after the restart and won't return after you use your printer the first time after the reset.

XSQL page - rendered HTML looks weird on UNIX and Mac

The fonts are not coming out as specified when I view HTML produced by XSQL pages.
I thought there was something wrong with my stylesheet, but then I went to ws5.olab.com and saw the same phenomenon.
I'd like to make my pages look the same on Macs, PCs, and Unix boxes. Any ideas anyone?


XSL has nothing to do with fonts, really.
Your problem likely has everything to do
with straightforward differences in
how different browsers on different
platforms implements the HTML and CSS
specifications.
If you find the combination that works
for you with static HTML, then you
can use XSL to generate that combination,
but otherwise, it's not XSL to blame :-)

New favicon will not display in Firefox, but does display in Safari

I am working on a new website and uploaded the favicon.ico into the root folder (Go Daddy). The favicon appears when I use Safari, not does not appear in Firefox... I have a mac OSX version 10.5 I have cleared the history and cache too. Any thoughts?

I have this problem too. I've just loaded my favicon.ico into my root folder and it shows next to the site url in latest Safari 5.0.5, but not in Firefox 3.6.17 - neither next to the site url nor on the page name tab.
Firefox also does not show the favicon in the Tools > Page Info > Media tab, although this does list just three of the many jpgs and pngs within its folders. I've just added the favicon.ico to the folder where it does see a jpg and png, but no joy, still not displayed. See attached png.
How do I overcome this problem? Is there a plugin that resolves this issue? It would be nice to have some color in the page name tabs. Many sites, such as this one, do have their favicons displayed by Firefox...

Columns in Dreamweaver CS3 Template Pages Not Displaying Correctly in IE8

I have a site that has most pages created with a template page that displays three columns below the navbar (counting a small column to the left for the logo at the top the table has four columns). The home page (index.html - not from the template) displays the same colums as the template pages correctly, but all the pages created with the template show the first column as way to wide and the next two columns as far too narrow.
I have trawled the internet to find a solution, but as my knowledge of HTML is limited it is proving near impossible for me to even find a relevant forum topic, let alone a workable solution. All I want is for the template pages with three visible columns below the navbar to display the same widths as those in index.html.
I am working on a mac and the pages all preview fine in Safari, Firefox etc, but not in IE8 on Windows 7 machines.
I have tried rather indelicately to shove various bits of code in to fix the width of the columns and render such commands as table-layout=fixed etc, but with absolutely no effect.

Most are straightforward.
If you view the page in IE9, and click on the compatibility icon, the rendering looks right. Unfortunately, I cannot force that rendering with any of the accepted meta tag usages!

Login action buttons no longer work and some pages not displaying correctly after upgrade.

After recent update, some web pages not displaying correctly and Login buttons on some sites do not work. I've updated my plugins and restarted computer, but problems remains. Is this Java, Javascript or something else? Same pages are working fine in IE.

Pages Not Displaying In Older Versions Of Safari

Several people have told me that my new site does not display in versions 1 or 2 of Safari. It works in Window IE and Firefox and Firefox on the Mac. The Home page will display if they click anywhere on the blank page. Is this an iWeb or .Mac problem and can it be fixed or what do you see?

Your site looks great to me. I'd suggest that you try a variety of browsers. I had one of my pages (a blog home page) list about 18 recent stories. This caused people with IE7 to have their systems seem to crash. I reduced the number to 5 then it worked.
You'll want to play around with the different themes and see which one(s) work best for the widest number of browsers. I choose to use Modern because it seems to load the quickest.
