Work-around for Exchange server? Let's chat!

Hi -
I have been reading all the questions/frustrations regarding iPhone playing nice with Exchange servers. I am desperate to get my calendar and contacts on my iPhone so how about putting our brains together and thinking about some sort of work-around?
I certainly don't have the answer but I have an idea. (I apologize if this idea has already been posted and I overlooked it.) Here goes ...
How about saving our calendars and contacts as txt files or csv files (or whatever), importing them into iCal/Address Book/Entourage and then syncing that way? Yes, this would mean that every night we would have to save the file, email it home and then sync it up when we got home ... but hey, it's better than nothin' at this point.
I am no tech-wizard-computer-guy by any stretch of the imagination. I have been toying with this method for a couple nights now to no avail. Heck, I can't even get my Entourage set up correctly so I have no idea if my idea is valid at all!
Thoughts? Ideas? Brainstorms? Suggestions?

Work around for server not found problems on FF36

I have found a work around for all the people having server not found problems with FF36.
If you manually set your network adapter DNS to an external DNS server (as opposed to your local ISP) then the problem goes away. I set mine to use the two google DNS servers:
Preferred: 8.8.8.8
Alternate: 8.8.4.4
Not a clue why this works but it is 100% successful on my desktop PC, whereas before I could hardly connect to a webpage with FF36 without multiple page refreshes and much frustration, even though FF35 was fine and rolling back to FF35 was also fine.
Something has changed in FF36 and either the way it handles DNS or the way it works with some network adapters.
It is nothing to do with add-ons, profiles or firewall software as I have tried all of these things and only the DNS change made a difference. I even copied over a full working profile and the program files directory for Mozilla from my portable which was having no problems and the problem still existed on the desktop, which is why I started looking at the network adapater since everything else between the working PC and the non working one was identical.
Hopefully this will help the developers to pin down the real cause of the problem and fix it in the next release.

With the bug now fixed it would not really be appropriate to add further comment. I do now see another related bug assigned but not being fast tracked, so if all goes well that will probably land in Firefox 39.

Server 2003 R2 sp2 on IBM T42: is there a work-around for getting bluetooth to work?

I have seen a few forums here and there talking about possible work-arounds for the lack of a bluetooth stack in server 2003, and they have not worked.

Installs without compalint, but after reboot, cannot find a bluetooth device. The bluetooth service starts and runs happily.
I found a hack-around solution involving update Q323183 for tricking 2003 into installing a bluetooth stack elsewhere, it also failed to return any results.
Has anyone figured this one out?

i had this working on my T42p back in the day but that was 6 years ago. it installed using the driver from IBM and the MS BT stack. i'm about 95% sure i was using the standard version of 2003 which by default includes a BT stack. enterprise and datacenter do not since there's no logical reason for either one to be running bluetooth due to security risks.

Work around for Application.cfc

I have an Application.cfc file that outputs a header and footer page for every request. That works wonderful but if I try to open a page that is doing a <cfgrid> using a CFC file than I get an error of "Error invoking CFC /GATS/CFC/purchaseOrder.cfc : Internal Server Error [Enable debugging by adding 'cfdebug' to your URL parameters to see more information]" when opening the page.
Commenting out the header/footer include in the Application.cfc file lets the <cfgrid> populate with the CFC file. Is there a fix or work around for this?

That error is due to our application.cfm having a single HTML comment at the
start of the file. Apparently if your Application.cfm or Application.cfc file
outputs ANYTHING, binds to CFCs with AJAX (via HTML CFGRID or CFAJAXPROXY, for

I created the examples you posted and commenting out the header/footer lines in my Application.cfc displayed the cfgrid results (updating the query to a table I had). Running the same example code with the header/footer included in the Application.cfc would not show the cfgrid results.

Exchange 2010 Mailbox automapping issues after updated to Rollup 5 for Exchange Server 2010 SP3

Hi,
i have problem with Outlook Uses who have Full Access on other mailbox.
An authentication window pop up very time a user start Outlook.
If i remove the access everything is ok.
if i insert manual the mailbox everything is ok
The System was for 3 days ago updated to Rollup 5 for Exchange Server 2010 SP3
Before the update, was no issue.

Same issue here. Ever since we installed Update Rollup 5 for SP3 Exchange 2010 mailboxes that were auto mapped are not accessible. They all get the same error.
Cannot expand the folder. The set of folders cannot be opened. The attempt to log on to the Microsoft Exchange has failed.
What I have been doing is removing the users permission, then adding them back using the noautomap switch in Powershell. After doing that, the user manually adds the mailbox and all is well.
Just a note here, I suspect it may have something to do with the version of Outlook 2010. We are running an older version here. I think only SP1 with no other incremental updates. Office is up to SP2. Also, one of the users I was working with could not access
the mailbox no matter what we tried but she can walk over to another workstation and open Outlook and access the very same mailbox so that pretty much proves its software related particularly with Outlook.
I cannot reproduce the problem on a workstation (XP) with a newer version of Outlook.
This has been wearing me out and I suspected the Update Rollup all long. Now I am confident as others are having the same problem. If you find out anything on how to fix this other than the steps above, let me know.

Does Mail (3.6) work with MS Exchange Server 2003?

I'm struggling to get Mail to work with an exchange server.
Apparently, from the company's FAQs, we can hook up an iPhone, but alas not Mail.
With the iPhone directions, they talk about a "domain" field, which doesn't show up in Mail.
Any tips or clues would be appreciated.

I'm not entirely sure why this works now, but it does. Yay!
My problem evolved such that I, when I sent out through a different outgoing server, a recipient would see the address of the outgoing address, e.g. if I was using the gmail servers it would look like [email protected], and not the [email protected]
So as a work around I tested sending out messages with my [email protected] address in the Reply To field. That works.
Strangely, a Sent mailbox with for my [email protected] has appeared. Even messages that I've sent out with nothing in the Reply To field indicate that they've come from my [email protected] address.
Keys to making it work:
• Set up the exchange address as an IMAP account (not an exchange account)
• Use the above referenced source forge tool
• Partner with the company's IT people for whatever assistance they can offer
• Use a Reply To field with the exchange, if required

Work around for deprecated getIds() and getSession()

As getIds() and getSession() methods of HTTPSessionContext are deprecated I need to know some work around for them. Can anyone please help me out ?
My problem is as follows -
My application has users who can have more than one login till a maximum number. After that maximum number is reached, if same user tries to make another login system will only allow him/her to make it after removing all of his/her previous logins. As a part of that, system should also delete all the sessions associated with those previous logins. Now the methods getIds() and getSession() being deprecated, I don't know how it can be done without going to some persistent data layer (like database).
I'm using WebSphere application server and the solution need to be applicable even for a clustered environment (i.e. I may need to put both of my web tier and application tier in a clustered environment).
Any help will be really appreciated.

i don't know about handling the multi tier issue but you can easily put an instance into the ServletContext that keeps track of the associations between users and sessions and can react accordingly.

Has anyone come up with a work around for the fact that JSF cannot produce XHTML documents? Anyone know why they went this route?

Before upgrading to Exchange Server 2013 we were using Exchange Server 2010 with Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server to protect our system from virus/ malware, it works effectively. After upgrading to Exchange Server 2013, the forefront Protection
2010 does not support Exchange 2013. I know that MS added anti malware function to Exchange Server 2013 but it does not work effectively.
So the question is: does MS has any other program instead of Forefront Protection 2010 which support Exchange Server 2013.

Proper IMAP prefix for Exchange Server

Does anyone know what the proper IMAP prefix is for Exchange Server?
Currently, I have specified "INBOX". On the iPhone, I can see my inbox, and all subfolders, but I can't see any other folders on the same level as inbox. Also, the iPhone has created "Sent Items" and "Deleted Items" folders UNDER my inbox and is using those instead of the ones Exchange uses at the same level as inbox.
I tried specifying "/", which wouldn't let me access anything. There doesn't appear to be a way to leave the prefix blank (the iPhone auto-fills "INBOX" if you blank the field), so I haven't been able to try that.

You're right. It did. Using an IMAP account instead of an Exchange account allowed me to see all folders at the same level as "inbox". Thanks!

Work around for iSync and k800i calendars

Hi all,
I am using OS X 10.4.9 and iSync 2.4. On my Mac, I have to use Entourage to be able to use the email server here, so I sync my Entourage calendar with iCal by having 1 calendar in iCal called Entourage.
I have just bought a new SE k800i and when I first tried to sync, the contacts worked fine, however no calendars went across. I made sure the right calendar, in fact the only calendar, was selected in the iSync preferences but no joy.
I have no events that repeat further than June,so I'm not sure if that's the issue. Does anyone know of any work arounds for this?
Also, what's the best way to Sync, would it be via bluetooth or can I do it via USB?

I don't think slideshows (or the iPhoto library itself) is backwards compatible with earlier versions of iPhoto, but I'm not sure. If that's a concern, exporting the slideshow as a QuickTime movie might be the best option, but that's getting off the subject of the thread, so if you have further questions about that, you might want to take it up in the iPhoto forum where people more familiar with iPhoto will be able to help.

How can the users I create in Oracle be used in Exchange server instead of users being created again in Exchange Server?

I expected something like that to be honest with you, the whole point is to have the website open and at the same time use several users to work on it, apparently it is not possible, I will send a new form to request an improvement on iWeb for that.

Alternative Mail clients for Exchange server?

Can anyone suggest alternate email client software that will work with an exchange server?
i hate Entourage, and need to look into alternatives after Mail stopped communicating with works Exchange server today!
Can't find any reason for the failure (even though my laptop and desktop both are having the same problem and both worked fine on friday!).
I looked at Thunderbird, but that doesn't support Exchange servers.

Mine exchange server 2010 standard has Update Rollup 5 for Exchange Server 2010 (KB2407113) as latest update.
Can someone help me which update i can install after this, can i start with
Update Rollup 1 for Exchange Server 2010 SP1.

My recommendation will be:
Remove update roll-up 5
Install SP1 check that everything is working
Install SP2 check that everything is working
Install SP3 check that everything is working
I think it will be risky for you to go straight to SP3.
