Work Center Categories ?

Dear Experts,
While creating workcenter throgh CR01 or IR01 the workcentre categories PM01,PM02 and PM03 is not appearing in selecting criteria.Can you please tell how to customise it in SPRO.

Pls select the following path in SPRO
Plant Maintenance and Customer Service-->Maintenance Plans, Work Centers, Task Lists and PRTs->
General Data---->Define Work Center Types and Link to Task List Application
here you can select the categeory and go to application tab and select option (I) Maintenance task lists
or as per your requirement you can select the Application.

    I have a work center where i have maintained 2 capacity categories in capacity tab screen. One m/c and other labour. Now when i assign this work center to a routing.....in the routing operation details screen, i see only the formula from the 1st capacity category showing up. How/Where can i see the formulas from the other capacity category, maintained in the work center?

    Hi,
      For the capacity category say:Machine, in the "capacity header" in workcenter, you assign "no. of individual capacities" as 2. Also, you can create the capacities in CR11 and assign the same to the work center.
       In routing you can just enable the check box "Required splitting" and assign no. of splits =2. you cannot assign the individual capacities you have created in CR11 in routing.
      In Production order, in operation details, "Cap. reqmt assignment", you can assign those two individual capacities and assign qty to be processed in those capacities.

  • Creation of work center CR01 (error message in last page)

    Hi
    During creation of work center .After all the configuration being done ,in the last page the error message displayed is (ACTIVITY SET CAN NOT BE ALLOCATED TO 2009).
    Some of the major setting done in the last page is
    This is Costing Lab
    1) work Center
    2)Activity description (Like set up, Machine and Labouring)
    3)Selection of activity type
    4)Preferred Unit
    Per
    After this when i save the error message is displayed mentioned above  (Message number is KL008)
    Please help ....!!!!!

    Dear Rupesh,
    1. Please enter the CCtr categories value as "*" in the basic data tab.
    1)in KL02 for this particular activity type give as *
    2. Enter ATyp category field value ar "1" in the basic data tab.
    2) in the field A type mainatin -1
    3. Actl Acty Type Cat field value as "As in planning".
    in this field also mainatin as 1
    YOU MUST SPECIFY A COST ELEMENT FOR ACTIVITY CAT 1
    first creat a cost element in  KA01 (pramairy) & in KA06 (secondry)
    then asiign in KL02 for the required activity types

    Hi Experts,
    I hav a confusion...that is...
    Suppose that. ....we  create a work center (5111) with category MACHINE...& maintain capacity data tab with both catagories (labor+ m/c).....then after......again we create this work center(5111) with different category LOBOR & maintain " capacity data tab" with only labor  capacity catagory.....& then this w/c (5111) is assingned with in routhing of product "A"...
    Note--all relavant data formula/std value key etc is properly maintained.......
    My question is that... During .production order creation of prodt "A" .....FROM WHERE THE DATA IS TO  BE PICK FROM WHICH  WORK CENTER CATAGORY??? if possible... how..plz explain me...i  will be thnkful to u..

    the same workcenter CODE  "5111"  cant b use for 2 categories.
    But if you want to include both in one code,  decide the orientation or the bottleneck capacity in this workcenter.
    whether its Machine or labor. Out of these which is ur deciding factor in scheduling and capacity planning.
    only use that as category and in capacity tab, u can use both Machine and labor as capacity and their data.

    i have created a work center with t-code ir01, used in Maintenance order under operations tab. In cost tab, it is not showing Planned costs of the pm order. Please advise what are check ups or config settings should be done? Thanks.

    first kindly check whtether you have defined value categories, grouped the calue value categories then specified the defualt values categories for order,
    then plan for activity type and cost center specified in workcenter in KP26,
    also check whether you have specified the formula in the work center costing tab page

    One can maintain any no of Capacity Categories in the work center, provided that you have actually defined/maintained
    that no of Capacity categories in customizing.
    So while creating work center you can have capacity categories like machine, person, processing unit, lab etc. as per requirements.

    Hi,
    1) You have to activate Change document indicator in the Transaction OP40 for the Workcenter categories.
    2) And for what are all the fields you wanted to capture the changes, for those data elements you have to ensure that change document is activated in the data dictionary.
    These are the pre-requisite for getting change documnets for the work centers.

  • Capacity evaluation for internal and external workers in one work center

    Hi ,
    Normally in all Industries you have internal manpower to execute work. Say I have a work center named "Mechanical" , I will have 5 people working 8 Hrs for 5 days in a week. We usually configure this in capacity tab of work center for capacity category "002-Labour".  In scheduling tab we configure sceduling data for a capacity category "002-labour"
    In many industries , depending on load, many time, external labours are hired to give assistance to internal workers. Technically it is like adding one more capacity category "PER-Person" and adding number external labours there and in scheduling tab adding required configuration for "PER" capacity category
    Total capacity for any given day would be available capacity in capacity category -002 + available capacity in PER capacity category.
    However in scheduling Tab , scheduling basis can be either 002/PER.
    How can we add more scheduling basis to refer to more than one capacity category ?
    Any other alternative to above problem statement?

    let us say, you have a work "Pump repair" which is done partly by internal workers say 2 people and 1 external labour. Let us assume the number of people in 002-labour is 2 (internal ) and  capacity in capacity category (PER) which is external work center is 3 (Total 5 ).
    Now if I I leave scheduling basis as blank, then system will calculate scheduling based on 002 capacity category as it is "Major" . But I want system to consider both 002 and +PER .
    You are suggesting two line items "Pump Repair internal" and give 2 numbers and duration as 8  control key PM01 . Create another operation "Pump repair External" use control key PM02 (where in scheduling is enabled)  where 1 number - 8 Hrs duration is maintained with another work center.
    If I maintain 2 different work centers and two different operations, this will work. But for customer this is just one work and capacity evaluation should be based on capacity category 002 and PER .
    How to solve this by maintaining one work center , two capacity categories in same work center  and maintaining one control key PM01 in operation?

  • Pooled capacity, machine work center can have labour?

    Dear All,
    1) We have eg. a common pool of welders for Location A and Location B welding work centers.  How do we setup the pooled capacity and assign to them?
    2) We have eg. 2 CNC machining work centers (Vert and Horiz) but we have labour support to do machine setup, labour related jobs etc.  If we need to perform labour capacity planning in this machine-based work center, is this done by maintaining a separate work center for this labour support and assigned to the same Cost Center?  Or for machine-based work center, labour capacity planning is not required?

    There is no differnce between pooled capacity and available caapcity .Only thing is you can utilised this capacity pool for various work centre level.
    To do that , Goto - SPRO-Production -BAsic Data-Work center-Capacity Planning-Define Capacity categories -Create Capacity Categoery for common pool of welders  , Create Capacity in CR11 and assing them into Work cetre Capaicty tab-Pooled Capacity Catogeries and maintian No of indivuial caapcity in Capacity Header -Standard Available caapcity-Indivual Capacity ( Total Number of welders with working timing , utilisation ) .
    Quest2 : To address this issue  , you can select Setup , Labour and Machine in Defalut tab of  same Work centre with proper Standard Value Key .Now , as they are all part of the Production activity , so you can keep the same Cost Centre ( Production Cost Centre )  in the Work centre tab with Formula Key of Labour ,Machine and setup .Goto CR02-Default Tab and Costing tab .

    When i tried to use co11n , the earning appearence :
    You want to confirm a network/order of the order type FEN1. However, this order type is allocated to an order category whose confirmation is not intended in this transaction.
    You try to confirm a network using a transaction intended for confirming production orders. Since networks and production orders are assigned to different order categories, the system issues an error message.
    so i still can't use this tcode, do you have any?

  • Different activity type for different capacity category in a work center

    Hello,
    Multiple capacity categories can be created in a work center like
    Engineer
    Sr. Engineer
    Architect
    Rates for all of them will be different (obviously) , however we can only have 1 activity type as default in a work center . We intend to 'HR assignment' corresponding to each capacity category . how can we have multiple activity type for different capacities (Engineer , architect etc).

    Dear Saurabh,
    You may allocate one or more capacity categories to a work center.  Capacity categories are defined in customizing.  Examples are labor, machine, energy and so on. 
    You must maintain data to enable the system to calculate available capacity at that work center for that category.  Examples include calendar assignment, start time, stop time, length of breaks, utilization, number of individual capacities. This is maintained in the capacity header screen of the capacity category for the work center. 
    If you indicate that a capacity is pooled, then it may be used by several work centers.  An example is a setup team.  They can perform setups at several work centers but can only work at one work center at a time. 
    Routings within a routing group are used for producing similar materials. One routing group can also contain routings with similar production processes.
    The alternative sequence enables you to select alternative operations for a sequence of operations - for example in the case of different work procedures for different batch sizes or capacity bottlenecks.
    The parallel sequence enables you to process operations independently of others.  
    A routing contains the operations to be performed, their sequence and the various work centers involved to manufacture an item. 
    A routing can include the following:
    *The standard values (times) for activities such as setup and processing 
    *Work centers where the operations are performed
    *The material components allocated to the operations
    *Any production resources / tools necessary to perform the operation
    *Inspection characteristics for operations where inspection is carried out
    *Instructions of what to do at each operation
    *Skills required to perform the operation

    Maintaining Individual Capacities in the workcenter,
    Prerequisites
    Individual capacities are used in capacity planning for more detailed resource planning. For instance, you can divide a machine capacity into several individual machines and maintain an available capacity for each machine. Capacity requirements can then be distributed among the individual capacities. If you do not maintain an available capacity for an individual capacity, it is calculated from the operating time of the capacity to which the individual capacity has been assigned.
    Individual capacities have the same capacity categories as the capacities to which they are assigned.
    In order to be able to create individual capacities the CapCatPers indicator for the capacity category must not be set in Customizing.
    Procedure
    Assigning Individual Capacities
    On the header screen choose Goto ® Individual capacities.
    The Assignments to Individual Capacities screen appears.
    Define the individual capacities.
    Maintaining Available Capacities for Individual Capacities
    In the Assignments to Individual Capacities screen place the cursor on the individual capacity whose available capacity you want to maintain.
    If the Maintnd indicator has been set, then an available capacity has been maintained for this individual capacity.

    The requirement here is for me to find out if I can create a new Work Center that will contain up to 6 assignment blocks and each block having either links to websites and BW reports, or triggers to R/3 applications via the transaction launcher.
    Can I do this purely through customising or do I need to create a new view using BSPs? If I can do it through customising please could I have a few pointers to what component I would need to use/copy?

    Thanks again for taking the time to reply.
    Just so I understand, if I want to show a work center I need to link it to a component / view? I think this was the original query - do I need a developer to create the view that contains the 6 blocks with their links to reports, transactions and websites? I think when I talk about blocks I mean 1 viewset containing 6 views. There is no SAP standard view that would suit my requirements is there? Even if the work center had 8 views, I can always hide the two views in configuration.
    After the developer has created the view, I then reference that component in the target Id in the define logical links section of my work center.
    If my understanding is right, then it follows that it is not possible to create a user specific work center without some development.
    Is this correct?
