Work Center (CR01 - Create, CR02 - Change, CR03 - Display)
Using the data maintained for a work center, you can
determine which machines or people are to be used in the operations
calculate costs, capacities and dates for the operations
OP42 - Configure the default value for Work Center during the initial creation.
After creating many work center in the Routing, the users might want to check what materials and components allocation have been updated with this work center. You can used this program Work Center in Routing - Search through all the routing for the material and component allocation used.
The standard program transaction CA80, checks where the work center was used in the routing. However, it did not list the components allocation for the work center.
Pooled Capacity field - When a production order 1234567 has the capacity requirement on its work center Wxxxxx. It means it has the requirement on pooled capacity Pxxxxx. If more than one work center shared this pooled capacity, the requirement (transaction CM01) will be shown on all the work center with the SAME shared pooled capacity.
In HR system we will the cost per each Work Center level. This work center we can assing org unit leave or postion level also.
Please revet back further clarifications.

Dear guru ,
i have a work centre that always work in the same moment for 3 different production order.
If my total daily available capacity is 11 hours for my 1 individual capacity is right that I assign to the work centre a capacity utilization of 300 percent in order to have a daily available capacity of 33 hours and I can use capacity levelling in the best way ?
Or there is other better solution for solving this problem ?

Work Center
Definition:Operations are carried out at a work center. In the R/3 System work centers are business objects that can represent the following real work centers, for example:
Machines, machine groups
Production lines
Assembly work centers
Employees, groups of employees
Use
Together with bills of material and routings, work centers belong to the most important master data in the R/3 production planning and control system. Work centers are used in task list operations and work orders. Task lists are for example routings, maintenance task lists, inspection plans and standard networks. Work orders are created for production, quality assurance, plant maintenance and for the Project System as networks.
Data in work centers is used for
Scheduling
Operating times and formulas are entered in the work center, so that the duration of an operation can be calculated.
Costing
Formulas are entered in the work center, so that the costs of an operation can be calculated. A work center is also assigned to a cost center.
Capacity planning
The available capacity and formulas for calculating capacity requirements are entered in the work center.
Simplifying operation maintenance
Various default values for operations can be entered in the work center.

Creating/Copying a Work Centre,also a Production Scheduler and Cost Centre.
Hi All,
I am trying to create a new work centre based on the settings of a previous one? First of all,how I can do this?
Secondly,after I have created the new work centre (having copied being copied from another),I need to create a new production Scheduler and Cost Centre? How I will be able to do so,also?Will the Production Scheduller and Cost Centre assignments fom the old work centre be copied,too,or I will need to create/copy these from scratch?
All help greatly appreciated,will award points to all useful answers.

You can create a new work center by copying an existing work center. in the cr01 screen in the copy from column put the plant name and Ref. work center name and put enter. all the existing data will be copied to the newly created work center. no need to create new assignment to Production Scheduller and Cost Center.

Work centres for employee of more than one plant
Hello experts
I have a question regarding work centres. Our department is managing a pool of workers which consist of employee from more than one plant. Somebody had made experience concerning this issue?
Furthermore we have to manage external workers as capacity. How can I build up this in SAP?

Restricting the change of workcentre in CO11N to selected work centres
Dear PP Gurus,
I have included the following screen
0420: Personnel: incl work center and posting date in the confirmation profile, so that the user can change the work centre at the time of confirmation. However the user wants that there should be a check where in only the workcentres which are used in parallel to be allowed for the perticular operation.
Please guide how to achieve this? Can we have a check thorugh any of the user exit below:
CONFPP02 PP order conf.: Customer specific input checks 1
CONFPP03 PP order conf.: Cust. specific check after op. selection
CONFPP04 PP order conf.: Customer specific input checks 2
CONFPP05 PP order conf.: Customer specific enhancements when saving
Eg.
For operation 0020 the user may perform the confirmations on Weld1 /Weld2 /Weld 3 machine. Now the system will allow to select any work centre other than these three. That may lead to wrong confirmation. The user wants to restrict the work centres to be selected to these three only. These three machines are mentioend as parallel sequence in the routing.

How to Create New Activity Type for Assiged to work centre Costing in Acti
Dear Sir,
We have four activity type to assigned in workcentre Costing Activity. Details are as under
AIRJET 2010 AIRJET
DONIER 2010 DORNIER
SULTEX 2010 SULTEX
SULZER 2010 SULZER
in addition one more loom is comming in our unit and require new activity type.
How can i create new.
Please guide.

To create new Activity Type , you need to follow the below steps :
KA01 - Create Primary Cost Element for the new activities type.
KL01 - Create Activity Type tied to the primary cost element.
KP26 - Change Activity Type/Activity Price Planning - maintain the Variable price
Assign the activity type to cost center using T code KP26.
In the input screen of T code KP26 ,enter version as 0, from period 1 and to period as 12 and the Fiscal Year as 20xx.
Click on Overview tab on top and key in costing details in this screen.
After performing this ,while creating the work center ,this combination of activity type & cost center should be assigned.
At work centre level , you should have
1.Create Standrad Value Key -OP19 and Formula Key in OP49.
2.Create Formula Parameters in OP7B or u can use existing one to assing in the Standard Value Key
3.In CR02-Assing the Standard value key in Basic Data and select the Formula Key in Costing tab with cost centre assingement .Save

1. To assign Work Center the T-code is PO01.
2. Yes. In SAP HR every employee has to be given Personnel Number irrespective of their designations.
3. No its not possible according to me (Gurus Pls correct me too if I am wrong)

Hi,all,
I have a requirement as mentioned below-
I have certain pm work center like engineer,fitters.But under engineer i have 3 different activity type like Sr.engineer time,Asst.engineer time,Jr.engineer time.I have assigned all these 3 activity type in my work centre in cost tab page along with standard formula SAP008.Now , my requirement is when I assign this work center in my equipment or maintenance order ,in operation tab pages of maintenance order ,only these three activity type should flow from where I want to select my relevant activity type.But instead of this,all the activity type around 10 nos whatever defined by CO consultant , is flowing to my order from where i need to select.I want only those 3 activity type which I had defined in my work center.can anybody please explain how to fulfill my requirement.thanks in advance.

you can make the default cost element by creating the external profile in IMG and assigning to the order type ,also in easy access screen during order creation you can mention as default values in the menu Extras>settings>default values
As per what cost element has to be specified kindly consult with the CO team,regarding the mandatory field may be you have specified the fields as mandatory in IMG settings,kindly check

Work centre change in production order
Hi,
During creation of production order, i want to change the work centre if in the existing operation, that particular work centre is overloaded.
Could any one let me know what are the steps involved in it.

Goto CM25 & select the Overload workcenter & underload workcenter .
Inside the planning tabel select the Operation from "Order (Pool) tabel" and drag manually to the "under load workcenter " displayed in upper table (workcenter) for required date. Now the operation workcenter has become changed & rescheduled.

IW32 Auto update of profit centre when work centre is changed
Hi... we have some difficulties with PM exits. Basically, if the work centre for an order is changed in IW32, SAP does not automatically re-populate the profit centre and cost centre associated with the changed work centre. To try to achieve this I have implemented the Sap suggested exits EXIT_SAPLCOIH_005/IWO10005 (for profit centre) and EXIT_SAPLCOIH_025/IWO10025 (for cost centre). The cost centre exit works. For the profit centre exit to work (invoke EXIT_SAPLCOIH_005) it needs profit centre to be blank. Being change mode (IW32) this field is populated already and asking the users to blank the profit centre field beforehand is not practical. Tried to see if auto blanking the profit centre field as soon as the work centre field is changed is possible... but there is no exit triggered at that point to do this. It appears that EXIT_SAPLCOIH_005 is triggered before anything else. Any ideas on how Profit Centre can be updated? (I have tried previous exit suggestions here). Thanks...
Profit Centres are generally applicable only for Revenue & Expense accounts.
When you load the opening balances, it affect the Inventory Account which is an Account Account and that is why there is no Profit Centre marked in the JE. -
Difference in Main work centre and Operation workcentre
Hello PM Gurus,
In CS order, we have two work centres. One at header level called as Main work centre and another at operation level.
Why do we have two work centres. The one at operation level itself should have been enough.
There is a main work centre at functional location too ( Organisation tab). So what is the connection if we use this functional location as the reference while creating a CS order.

The work center at haeder i.e., Main Work Center is the reponsible work center(say a department). It means it takes the reponsibility of the whole job mentioned in that work order(or job given by production dept.). Now, assume , it further distributes the whole work to its own sub-dept or different work centers as per nature of job. Say, electrical related work to elec work centers etc., by ,means of assigning to different operations.
The Main work center's cost center will be copied as responsible cost center in Additional data TAB of the order.Now thus you see commercially the responsibility of doing the job lies with the responsible cost center (or say Main work center).

I need some help regarding deletion of work centre.
One of our users trying to delete some work centres, he is sure that these are no longer used. He deleted few successfully and and not able to delete few. These are never meant for time booking. How to trace those workcentres, where they are being used.
I have tried CA80 but could not get any info(object not used)
Can some throw me some light?

The way I understand it, is that the main work centre (Field name: GEWRK) in the organizational tab refers to the actual group who are reponsible for carrying out the maintenance of the object. Costing and capacity planning is carried out through this Work Centre. However the PP Work Centre (Field name: ARBPL) in the location tab is a different work centre. And I'm not sure what it controls (if anything). I think it refers to the location of the unit, but other than that I don't know what it controls. -

You can maintain two machine as one work center in the Capacities tab enter 001 (Machine capactiy) and enter the system will take to another screen, where you can enter the time ofthe workcenter and capacity utilization and number of individual capacity, there you can enter 2. So the the capacity available will be multiplied by the number of capacity.
for Ex: you have enter time 08:00:00 to 17:00:00 then for one machine the available capacity is 9 hrs for 2 machines, it will be 18 hrs, the system will calcutate andit will show the capacity as 18 hrs.
