When I plug my IPOD in on my work computer, I can see all my songs but I can not click on any of them to play. Anyone have any suggestions?
I'm assuming you mean play directly from the iPod, correct?
If so, you'll need to set the iPod to manage the iPod content manually.
That way, the iPods song list will be bold, selectable and playable.

Hello. I am trying to use my work computer with itunes to listen my my music on my itunes on my computer at home. I have signed into both. My computer at home is off, is there a way to listen to all my music on both computers by using Home Sharing or another means?
The best way I know is to sign up for iTunes Match. All your music is stored in the cloud and can be accessed by up to 10 devices.

I would like to be able to download software updates on my Iphone and Ipad at work without erasing my music. My home computer/Itunes has all of my music saved. is there a way to use two computers w/o erasing information? Or can i transfer the music from my Iphone to my work computer?
- An iPod can only sync with one iTunes library. Yu can however manage music and videos among different computers by:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers
- To change syncing computer, move all the media to compute r#2
- Connect the iPod to #2 and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
- Restore the iPod from that backup
Note tha the iPod backup the iTunes makes does not include synced media like apps and music. -
I have a Macbook and iPhone and like to back up to iCloud. However, my work computer runs Outlook 2003, which I know will not work with the iCloud. The company has no plans to update anytime soon. Since the calendar and contact list on my office computer are my primay ones, I hard sync through iTunes. The problem is that any data synced from Outlook 2003 to the iPhone from iTunes does NOT later backup to iCloud. Is there a solution?
I have the same problem with Outlook 2003 and Win XP which the multinational organisation I work for standardises on and will probably stay with forever!

Recently I can't connect to my work computer remotely and I can't print things even when I am using my desktop which is directly connected to the printer. If I go to Internet Explorer or AOL I have no problems but since I mainly use Firefox this has become a major problem.
I encounter similar problem. My TC detects my OKI printer which is connected to the TC via USB but I can't print unless I connect my printer to the TC via Ethernet. Would anyone know how to solve it. Thanks.

How do I transfer music from work computer to Home?
My main iTunes library is located at home. Every day I go to work, plug my Nano into my work computer connect to iTunes and listen to music from my Nano.

Thanks.You could try to take them off your Nano--it's a little harder to move files from an iPod onto a computer but it can be done. I can't help you with this, I don't know how to do it, but if you search these forums there are lots of threads about how to do this.
To put a song file on a jump drive, open your iTunes folder (I assume this is where the file will be located) find the file folder for the artist you downloaded, then the album the song was on, and finally the song. Copy this to the jump drive.
Then, you'll need to copy this file to your home computer. Just reverse the steps. In your iTunes folder, make a folder for the artist, then one for the album, finally copy the song into this folder. Next, in iTunes, go to File > Add File to Library and navigate to this song file. When you click on the song for the first time to play it, you'll get a popup box asking if you want to authorize your computer to play the song. (You can authorize up to five computers to play downloaded songs--so make sure you're under this limit.)
That should do it. -
I subscribed iTunes Match in the hopes that I could combine my two libraries remotely. Essentially I have two awesome collections of music, one at work and one at home. I wanted to be able to access my work tunes from my library at home, and vice versa if possible as well as from my iphone. Now that I've activated match on my work comp though, is it going to wipe out my library at home once I connect to match from my personal mac? I'm wondering if this will happen because when I associated my iphone with match, it told me it was going to replace my iphone music library with the match (work) library. I haven't associated my home computer library with it yet, because I'm worried it will wipe out the music I have there that isn't already in the cloud. How do I access what I've added to Match from my work computer, so that I can add it to my home computer, without losing what's already there?

How do I hide some synced bookmarks on one computer (e.g., home bookmarks on a work computer)?
Firefox Sync is a great feature. I only have one problem. Some bookmarks on my home computer are not suitable for my work computer. How do I exclude or hide a single folder of bookmarks without actually deleting them on all synced computers?
I've read that Xmarks has the option to assign bookmarks to "synchronization profiles". You could then have one profile for "work bookmarks" that is synchronized across many computers or even separate firefox profiles while a profile for "personal bookmarks" may be synchronized with other computers.
The closest thing Firefox synch could support is creating separate firefox surfing profiles and synch accounts for each set of bookmarks you want to synch. You could then select from your profiles using the profile manager (make a shortcut to firefox that launches firefox with the -p or -profilemanager option (both work) "C:\..... firefox.exe -p". It's less convenient, but could work.
Ultimately, I'd love it if firefox would just enable synching bookmarks with certain tags (tag a bookmark work, it gets replicated on all firefox synch accounts with the work tag). People think in folders, but tags would be even better imho. -
How do I transfer my bookmarks from one computer to another? I have Firefox Home on my phone and I can get them there, but I want to have the same bookmarks on my home computer as I do on my work computer. If I have a user name then where do I sign into Firefox, it should be that easy but I can't seem to figure it out.

This may be a very dumb question, but can I use my iPod on my home computer and work computer? I noticed that it seems to want to do weird things to my iPod if I try to hook it up on my work computer (I have all of my music on my home computer... it is backed up 1 or 2 times a week to preserve my music). My iTunes got deleted off a (no longer working) computer. I have lost all music & data that was on this original itunes. Is there a way I can transfer all content from my iPhone (music & photos) onto iTunes on a new computer? I want to update my iphone (3GS), but do not want to lose any music off it when syncing it. By design, the iphone will sync itunes content with one computer at a time. Any attempt to sync such content with a second computer will result in ALL itunes content being first erased from your phone & then replaced with the content from the second computer. This is a design feature and cannot be overridden. Because you are using a new computer, your phone will see this computer as a "new" computer. The itunes content sync is one way: computer to phone. If you have photos that were synced to your phone or music ripped on your own that were not backed up, you will first have to extract them from your phone using third party software, before you do anything else, as Apple makes no provision to do so:

Once you've done that, do the following in the order specified:
1. Disable auto sync when an iPod/iPhone is connected under iTunes>Preferences(under the edit menu if using Windows)>Devices in itunes.
2. Make sure you have one contact & one event in the supported applications(Address Book & iCal or Outlook, Windows Address Book) on your computer. These entries can be fake, doesn't matter, the important point is that these programs not be empty.
3. Connect your phone, iTunes running, DO NOT SYNC at this point.
4. Store>Authorize this computer.
5. File>Transfer Purchases(To make sure all purchased content on your phone will be in your itunes library).
6. Right click in the device pane & select reset warnings.
7. Right click again and select backup.
8. Right click again & select restore from backup, select the backup you just made. When prompted to create another backup, decline.
9. This MUST be followed by a sync to restore your itunes content, which you select from the various tabs, You'll get a popup regarding your contacts & calendars asking to merge or replace, select merge.
You should be good to go. -

I'm not sure if I'm in the right forum for this question, but I don't know where else to ask about installing on cross platforms. So, the computer I use at work is a PC. I know you are allowed to install the programs on two computers, one work computer and one laptop. My laptop is a Mac. Is it possible to install the second copy on a Mac?

Basically, you put the same itunes database file on all the PCs. This fakes itunes into thinking it is always the same PC and the ipod is OK to sync with it. It will NOT keep your libraries truly synced, though. I've just resigned myself to always buying from one PC and manually transferring the content to other PCs I want it on. -
So, the reason I decided to try Firefox Sync is that I recently discovered that when I sign out of my Google Account, it turns out that my bookmarks were still all there on Chrome on multiple different work computers (I'm an independent contractor & work at many unrelated locations, so clearly, this was a serious security problem with Chrome & they had no way to help it. None. Whatsoever. And it was happening to other users, probably unknowingly)
So, I used Firefox Sync today with a work computer & yep, when I clicked the red EXIT FIREFOX button in the settings, & then reopened Firefox to check, there were all my bookmarks. I do not see a LOGOUT option for SYNC. Just a Delete my account or change my password option under Manage Account or a DISCONNECT option under Options. The Disconnect popup says this: "Firefox will stop syncing with your account, but won’t delete any of your browsing data on this computer."
So, I didn't use the DISCONNECT or DELETE MY ACCOUNT options because when I tried the disconnect option on Chrome, it deleted most, but not all of the bookmarks on ALL of my devices & I would've lost all hundreds of my bookmarks had I not made a copy of them from my non-logged-in tablet.
NO ONE wants their bookmarks available to anyone else who opens the browser on the same computer just because they synced once w/ their Firefox account or logged into their Google account.
If there is NO way to log out & remove the USER-SPECIFIC--NOT device- or browser-specific-- bookmarks & other potentially problematic info, then this should be made CLEAR in an informative article if someone chooses to SYNC.
No one would ever SYNC if they ever used a computer that is not their own if they knew that their bookmark info were left on the browser.
Is there a SYNC logout option that I missed that makes this question irrelevant? I hope so. Otherwise, I guess I'll be emailing a bookmarks file to myself for temporary work use & then deleting it.
If I sign in to Yahoo! or Facebook or any shopping site, etc, when I logout & clear the cache & cookies, etc, like I always do, my info is gone. It doesn't show up the next time someone opens the browser.
I even changed the settings in SYNC to NOT synce the bookmarks, but they were still there when I reopened Firefox.

ChristineActually, it's not obvious & common sense would dictate that users' bookmarks would not be left stuck to random computers even once they've logged out of the account. No one wants that if it's a public work computer or if they're traveling & use an Internet cafe. As I am not the only one who has noticed this issue or had bookmarks disappear/be deleted, in addition, common sense would indicate it's not really a very good system. And carrying around a flashdrive to run Firefox off of it is a good solution? Really? Just curious why a useful feature such as being able to login & use your preferences & bookmarks & then logging out removes your preferences when you're gone hasn't been developed. Yahoo keeps my preferences when I logout (it's called My Yahoo!). Maybe a My Firefox or My Chrome solution could be developed.
