Work Flow between PP and AE

I am newB to AE and wanted to ask the following: If I am in PP and have a timeline with a bunch of clips and decide I want to apply an AE effect to one (lets say a 10 sec clip which is sourced from a 10 minute long footage file) Now I cant copy the clip segment from the PP timeline and paste into AE (wishful thinking) Using the Dynamic link from PP just creates a new AE Comp with a link back to PP. So should I render out my 10 secs in PP and use that file in AE (dont like the sound of that) or should I import the 10 min source file and manually trim it in AE (also painful) I tried to chop it down in Virtualdub - but no luck as it is a HDV mts source. Thanks Steve. When I do this and copy the clip from PP timeline OK, but when I paste into AE I get the whole source file (not just my PP timeline portion) Is that right? I can live with it but wanted to make sure I was not missing something. The actual HDV file is 9G - so AE reports media pending for quite a while. I then have find my portion and trim it in the AE timeline to find my (PP timeline part) I want to work with. Am I making sense?

Work Flow with FCP and color correction

I am looking for a decent workflow between FCP and motion when I need to apply color correction to the clips.
I have a goup of clips in FCP that I would like to send to motion, animate them and send them back to FCP. Problem is I want to use FCP for the color correction- nicer than motion's. The, all bad options I have come up with are:
1. color correct in FCP and then send to Motion- will not work because filters are not applied in send.
2. Export the clips as one QT self containned movie- I lose the clip partitioning.
3. Exports individual clips to QT then into Motion- I lose the clip ordering
4. Color correct after I get back into FCP from Motion- clip boundaries are lost making applying color correction harder.
Any ideas?

I've done this two ways - both variations on the methods you have outlined. First and simplest and one I used last week on a PSP project was to apply the color correction to the Motion clip (.motn file) after it came back from Motion. This is simple and easy, but if you've done titling, you may not want to color correct that.
The second is as you said to render and export a self contained movie, then import it and copy it onto the timeline above the original clip that produced it, thus (at least organizationally) maintaining a connection between them. I then send the quicktime to Motion.
Sorry I cannot think of another better way of doing it...

Modify Transition element in work flow using for and not attributes to restrict access

Hi,
I have TFS 2013 for my premises and I am working on changing the work flow for TFS work item. I have created a work item as per requirement and it has 3 states
Active, In Review and Closed in work flow. When developer creates a work item it is in Active state and later it is sent to In Review and then to close after successful review.
My question is I want development team to be restricted to move the work item to Close state. At present when developer creates a new work item they see Active state. At this point they can not see any other states in the work item. Later they
fill the details and after checkin they will put that work item to In Review state. At this point they can see Active and In Review states. When they save this work item and modify it again they see Close state as well. I want to design the Transition element
in work flow in such a way then developers should not be able to see the Close state at all in a work item assigned to them. Only reviewer should be able to transit the work item from In Review to Close.
I checked the for and not attributes in the transition element but I have no idea about correct syntax I should use to enforce the restriction. I would also like to mention here that I have no separate groups defined in my TFS server. Every
one is a part of contributor's group. There is no specific group of reviewers and one developer reviews the code of another. I want to design the work flow in such a way that the developer who creates (or gets assigned) the work item should
not be able to put their own work item in Close state but they should be able to close another developer's work item if that work item has his name in the reviewer's box.
I have tried to simplify my question by elaborating it hope it is not complex to understand. Let me know if you want further clarification on this.

Hi Premal,
For your scenario, seems the "for" and "not" attributes not are unavailable to make it happens. Because of the developers not in groups, and the same type of work items can be assigned to all the developers hence the attributes cannot
be allow and deny users in the groups concurrently. Please check the
page for more information about transition xml element.
Based on your situation, you can separate the development group and test group. Then you can only allow test group to change the state.

Issue with Data flow between Unicode and Non Unicode systems

Hello,
I have scenario as below,
We have a Unicode ECC 6.0 and a UTF 7 Legacy system.
A message flow between Legacy system to ECC 6.0 system and the data is of 700 KB size.
Will there be any issue in this as one is Unicode and other is non Unicode?

To add to Mike's post...
You indicate that your legacy system is non-Unicode and the ERP system is Unicode. You also said that the data flow is only from the legacy system to the ERP system. In this case, you should have no data issues, since the Unicode system is the receiving system. There are data issues when the data flow is in the other direction: from a Unicode system to a non-Unicode system. Here, the non-Unicode system can only process characters that exist on its codepage and care must be taken from sending systems to ensure that they only send characters that are on the receiving system's codepage (as Mike says above).

I checked again last night, and now iTunes matched the phone settings, saying zero space was available. I had nearly 20 gigs of "Other" data :/
So I erased all settings/data on the iPhone and restored from an iCloud backup from last week, and now everything seems fine, with over 15 GB of available space.

You get a pop-up screen, Click on "Activate SAP Business Workflow"
you get a screen "Task Customizing Overview"
For each module you have a workflows
click on Assign Agents you will find the number of Tasks for each activities or functions
Like Under Production Orders you will have "inform MRP Controller about trigger pt"
etc like wise you have to use these Tasks provided by SAP to your build or combine as per customers requiremnts with proper agent assignments

Firefox Sync doesn't sync bookmarks between smartphone and tablet.Works fine between desktop and mobiles.

I have a desktop,smartphone and tablet.They all have the latest FX35.They are all signed in and connected to Sync.Sync is the latest version and it works with email and password, instead of pins.On all devices, Sync is configured to sync all items(bookmarks,tabs etc).
When I enabled Sync on smartphone and tablet, they got my desktop's bookmarks without a problem.They appear in a folder named desktop bookmarks.All the changes reflect properly between smartphone-desktop and tablet-desktop, but, the bookmarks do not sync between smartphone-tablet.
When I open a tab on the smartphone, after a while it appear on tablet's Synced Tabs page.Vice verse is true also.So at least some syncing exists between smartphone-tablet.
Is it possible to create a bookmark on smartphone and have it appear on the tablet and vice verse,just like the synced tabs work ? I tried deleting the sync account and creating a new one, but I still don't see my smartphone's bookmarks on the tablet.
It would be even better if there was an option to choose which device can override another device's bookmarks.I don't really need desktop bookmarks on smartphone, but I'm too scared to delete them.I'm afraid it will also delete them from desktop... ?

Actual work difference between Reporting and Published (2013)

Hello!
I'm currently battling with MS Project Server 2013 to understand a difference we observe in actual work.
here is the scenario...
User submits 6 hours for a task on Dec 18
Task is accepted and updated in the plan - we can observe this in resource usage view.
Plan is then published.
We observe that our reports show 2 hours instead of 6 for this task assignment
Recheck the plan and the hours are still showing as 6 in the timephased view.
When we look in SQL we find that the Pub tables show 6 hours but the Reporting tables show 2 hours!!!!
How can this be if the Reporting schema should mirror the data in the Pub schema??
We have SP1 + Oct CU
Any advice welcome!

Work flow Document changed and saved by persons sequentially

I am novive in Portal Development and i have to implement a workflow solution that consist in a change of the document sequentially.
I would like that when someone finished that part of work a message will be sended to the next.
Is this possible? How can i do that?

Please verify from the event log (txn SWEL, use txn SWELS to activate event log) that the FIPP.Created event is being published when you park a document. If not, you need to perform some IMG activity. Please see OSS Note 548278.

Control flow between classes and a midlet

Hi All..
I have somewhat of a strange Question to ask.
Consider that I have 3 java classes: A B C that are used by a midlet M.
And the main purpose of A B C is to modify the user interface of M somehow. So maybe A causes a textbox to be displayed, maybe B creates a form etc..
Also, the midlet implements the Commandlistener interface...hence has an actionCommand method.
So I am wondering ..if one of these classes (A B C) creates a gui component that has commands, and implements the actionCommand method (from the CommandListener interface), I find that the commands execute properly, but of course, the control is never returned to the main midlet M.
I would like the classes: A B C to take care of a given representation/apprearance of the display..which may include commands, but I dont know how they can work with the main midlet.
I cant make the classes pass the commands to the midlet ..because I would like to define their implementation in the actionCommand method..and I dont want the Main midlet to know about the commands that these classes implement...
Does anyone know how I can implement this? If this makes any sense at all, please send me a reply..I would appreciate any comments.

When you click on the link, push the button, and run the applet online,
nothing happens when you click on help - about dodgesnow version 0.1, which is on the menubar above.
However, if you download the html file and run the applet again, you can see the "about dialog".
The dialog is made with the dialog form in NetBeans 5.0, and therefore uses its own layout library.
I want to know why this happens.

1. your applet does not work in IE because it tries to run your applet with msjvm. Use object tag instead of applet.
In the [jdk home]/bin directory there is a tool called htmlconverter.
Use that to convert your html page.
2. your applet tries to do something outside of the applet's sandbox security.

I am not sure what you mean by running the applet locally (appletviewer
with policy, netbeans) Or opening the html page and having a policy for
code run locally.
Why would your applet comming from blogfile.paran.com:80 try to
connect to image.paran.com:80 I guess java sees this as another sub
domain and won't let the applet do this.
3. when I open your applet it takes a full one minute after loading the applet before I see the gui.

Does not exist, I guess the jre looks for this file because it's not included
in your jar and I don't have it in my lib/ext or classpath.

Cox adds authenticated smtp, email working seemlessly between wifi and 3g

I had a problem, but it just went away. Background: I have Cox high speed internet at home (in Tucson), and Cox would not let any email go out to any smtp server (authenticated or not, ssl, didn't matter) other than their own. Which meant when my iphone was on wifi at home I HAD to use smtp.west.cox.net, but as soon as I left my email wouldn't send because I was no longer on cox over the air. So I could either optimize for home or road - either set my smtp server priority for cox, or set it for authenticated gmail, or cwmx.com, or whatever. It was sort of messy at best with a list of smtp servers and trying to get the right one into the priority slot (is that game?). BUT, my life has recently changed, although it's a sad thing when an adult prances around saying "cox has authenticated smtp now, yay!" But they do, and it works from anywhere. So what I have now on my iphone is my 3 email accounts, and just a single solitary smtp server - cox. Obviously you need to be a cox subscriber, and you need to know your cox user name, but the steps are here:

Thanks for this! I had figured out the problem on my wife's iPhone due to the outbound smtp servers not being on the cox network when on the ATT EDGE, and wanted to let Apple fix it for us by having another option on the mail account settings: If I'm on WiFi - try smtp.cox.net for outbound email, if I'm on EDGE, use ATT's outbound email.
Glad to see the Authenticated SMTP for Cox and will try that later tonight.
I don't think I'll do the prancing , but my wife will be grateful for this!
