Work flow routing - Non Production

Hi Experts,
Only production workflow notifications should be sent out to employees. Currently workflow notifications are still being sent from the various other non-production clients and causing issues. The business/HCM needs these shut off in the non-prod clients or rerouted to "dump", so that they are not mixed up with LIVE data. Work flows need to be configure.
Advice me .

1) i need to do the settings in SWU3. as production has status not modifiable i need to transport that . but in my dev settings i had given client as 100 for prefix numbers . so if i transport it to production whether it will work with that which has client 430.

But in a pinch a LinkSys E2500 will work, as it does for me.

Work flow in production order

Hi
There is a requirement to trigger a mail to a specific user id whenever the order will be Created, confirmed & TECOed (may be they add other events later on). We can make it through standard production order workflow process I think. For that I have assigned user ID to object TS0020047 & TS20000623 (agents assignment ) through TX: COWf1. In the event linkage screen I have activated with events TS20000634 & TS20000634. Still It is not triggering any work flow to the workplace of assigned user id. Where is the mistake I am not able to identify.
Or if there is any other method to achive this? Pls suggest

In CO01 > Click on Go to > Missing Parts > Missing Part list
In Nxt Page Click on List > Send to > Mail recipient
In the Recipient tab enter SAP user id of MRP Controller and Recipient type SAP Log on name and click on Send icon at Top left.
SAP Mail will go to MRP Controller SAP Work place in box.

Regarding Production order changes work flows

Hi to all,
I activated WS20000387 work flow template. its regarding the production order changes .
briefly: i created one production order, immediately assigned person will get a message in his SAP inbox.
he has to double click/execute on that mail, then system will take u directly to the production order screen. there is no need to enter that Order no.
but here, after double clicking, system is asking The Order no.
we have clients 300,500 and 700.
i executed same work flow in 300 successfully,
700 is not modifiable. thats y i did all the settings in 500 and copied the request to 700.
i am getting the problem in 700,, i compared all the settings in 300 and 700, but no use,,,all are same,,,but not executing in 700.
anybody can help me in this regard.

You Can use below FM to confirm Production order and it is very simple BAPI.
BAPI_PRODORDCONF_CREATE_HDR -> just check in where used list.

Now I want to have work flow associated with it.
Means:I want to trigger WF for the Products before it can be used in Contracts.
Please provide me input how to actiavte WF for this.

Production Order Work Flow

Hi..
I want to trigger the workflow to release the Production order .
So we want to creat the WOrk Flow using Standard Object BUS2005 when Order get created .
. With the help of ABAPER we are able to trigger the Workflow but by manullay creating the Event.
Is there any customization from PP side need to do for automatic creation of Workflow.
Please let me know.

As far as I know , in OPL8-Order Type depdent Paramater -Implementation tab -You have option Workflow -Workflo for purcahse order change .If it is relevent in this context , then you need mark the chek box.

Will iMac be efficient for Video Production Work Flow? PC to MAC switch.

Hi, I'm a long time Windows user editing in Sony Vegas for my video production work. I've been toying with the idea of seriously switching to Mac and Final Cut for about a year now. I may take the plunge this weekend. I don't think I want to go above $2k. I've been looking at the iMac 24inch, 2.8GHz model for a while now in the store, playing with footage. Nevetheless, I'm certainly nervous about making such a switch! I've been working with Sony Vegas for a couple of years now editing movies.
I do independent video production work, pretty seriously, but not for a huge movie house or anything. Will this iMac with Final Cut Studio work for me? Also should the fact that you can't upgrade specs on the iMac worry me? Will this computer be obsolete by next year.
I'm mainly interested in speed, efficient work flow, rendering times, etc. for video editing. Everything else I've seen on the mac I love.

i still do some editing on a 17" imac G4 w/ 512 MB, RAM(top of the line 5 1/2 years ago) & it shows no sign of not doing what need. it won't run FCS 2, but i'm still rolling on the home video to DVD part of my video biz w/ it-so it just got repurposed & has been online wirelessly for most of that time(so i can check e-mail, listen to radio for a break). it will run previous versions of FCE, which is how i got into using a pro-style editing app.
render speed will depend on footage format/codec, FX & transitions, RAM, etc..., but once you get used to the suite, establish a workflow, keyboard & interface layout that works for you, you should be okay.

Possible work flow Shoot(RAW)-Aperture-CS2-Aperture-output

I have Aperture installed on two machines, my 15" 1.5Ghz/1.5GB-RAM and on my PoweMac dual 2Ghz G5/2 GB RAM and the speed is acceptable on both so far.
On the PowerMac I moved the Aperture library to a second SATA drive, which should speed things up a bit.
I have not had enough time to envelope myself in Aperture, only a hour here and there.... work keeps getting in the way But so far it looks like I could change my workflow.
CS2 cannot be removed from my workflow as I tweak all final images before output(print and jpg/tiff) in CS2. Layers and the healing brush is key in portrait work.
My workflow from shoot to output with D2X has been:
-Shoot(all RAW)
-FW transfer of files into date+clientname-named directory structure
-Bridge to sort, rank, annotate, etc
-ACR to make adjustments to files, copy and paste raw settings is great as well as synchronize make for quick post processing
-Web gallery is easy enough and IMO looks better than Aperture's
-Shots selected for final output by client are then opened in CS2, tweaked, cleaned, improved, vignettes applied, etc(according to client and contract), then saved off as jpg level 10(rarely as tiff)
--If it is a big or important portrait, I will save a PSD file with the layers etc
-Bridge to annotate the finished shots
-Output to Epson R2400 or lab
-Archive directory with sidecar files to two(just in case!) CD or DVD(depending on size)
While I can see a workflow improvement with Aperture replacing Bridge and ACR, issues I see:
-Aperture RAW conversions are not on par with ACR
-Raw workflow in Aperture is a completely different animal than ACR
-White balance in Aperture is hard to use
-Plugins? Like the vignette tool in ACR to dodge(great for white backgrounds) or burn corners
Possible pluses so far:
-More control over colors, luminance, etc in Aperture, although at the cost of simplicity(yes, this will diminish over time with more experience)
-The loupe tool is great, when it is too slow on the PB, I just use the "Z" key for toggling 100%..
-Integration of the photo books, although CS2 has something similar from Ofoto
-Stacking(this could be added to Bridge though)
-Vaults for archiving
-Coolness for being an Apple application(yes it is a cult and yes I joined of my own free will)
So, when 10.4.4 comes out with tweaks to Aperture like RAW conversions being on par with ACR and white balance tool option/fix, I could see Aperture replacing Bridge and ACR in my work flow.
Given my past four years with Apple and one iBook, two Powerbooks, two PowerMacs, one Indigo iMac, all of the OS X versions, and Final Cut Express, I have faith that the Aperture team is working feverishly to get theses initial issues fixed and am certain version two will be even better, AND encourage Adobe to add more wiz to their already great product, PhotoShop.
Tonight I will try this workflow, where I do the RAW conversion, send to CS2, and save back to Aperture....
So much to fiddle with, so little time!

I'd love to hear how this works out for you as your workflow is virtually identical to mine. I haven't devoted much time to Aperture as I'm preparing for an xmas vacation and am hoping a big patch (or two!) are en route.

Aperture Work flow or an alternative

I am an amateur photographer using a nikon d70. I am now shooting in raw to get a better control on the output, but also with more pictures to process as result. I have used Photoshop elements with ACR for work flow processing. I use iview pro for file handling. Downside of ACR in the PS elements mode is that filmstrip and multiple picture handling is missing. I have tried trial version of Bibble 4, Capture one and PS CS 2 for their workflow and white balance results. I came to the conclusion that PS CS provides in WB adjustment best results with different pictures. As a Mac user I am aware of the aperture features as advertised in their QuickTime movies. I have also seen the discussion on hardware requirements and WB issue. But the aperture work flow setup is tempting (keep the work flow in the raw domain and does not change the original raw file). There are two routes to follow: A. buy full version of PS CS and stay with current hardware. B. buy Aperture with adjusted hardware. Price tags are totally different and are of my own concern. Question: advice on the road to go without price tag consideration.

You could have a workflow that is non-destructive with Photosohp CS2 by using Bridge. It's very effective and will give you more and better control that those other alternatives - except Aperture. I've been using Aperture for two days now and I have to say I'm really getting to like it. Though on my dual 2Ghz G5 (1st generation) with a Radeon 9800 Pro and 3.5 gigs of RAM it can be a tad bit slow. I'm sure some optimization will occur in the next update or two to speed things up.
Bottom line, I think Aperture's workflow looks promising. And I really like a lot of the benefits of working in a totally 16 bit environment where I don't have to manually handle the files and their locations, or the sidecar files or anything else. And I can export files directly for whatever purpose I might have.
So my first choice, for your question would be Aperture. Second choice would be Bridge and PS CS2.

SAP_ALL in non-productive systems

Hello SAP Security Administrators,
I have been searching (without success) for documentation or posts for a SAP security best practice for who should or should not have the profile SAP_ALL in a non-productive system. Is this typically left up to the individual company security policies? Is it a given that Basis will have SAP_ALL for administrative support? Are Security Admins allowed to have elevated privs in a non-productive system for research and troubleshooting?
We are trying to establish a standard for non-productive systems, so any input would be greatly appreciated!

I do not think there are real standards. Personally I consider using SAP_ALL a sign of utter lazyness because there is never a person who needs to access all functionallity in an ERP system.
The only valid occasions I know to use SAP_ALL is during upgrades but even then it's not a guarantee against surprises.
You are talking about non productive systems but that does not exclude systems with production data, something to consider.
Some thoughts:
Do you want people to influence developments and/or transports if that is not their task?
Do you want pepole to see sensitive testdata just copied from production?
Do you really think your system/landscape configuration will be safe if you have to rely on agreements? Transport routes for instance?
SAP_ALL is something I only allow in sandbox systems and only if they're being backupped at least weekly. That is to avoid heavy discussions when people destroy each others work by curiously hitting buttons and 'trying' transactions.
I am sure some others will have a few suggestions to add

DVD formatting and work flow questions

It’s been about ten years since I was involved in a DVD project. I am trying to catch up and thought a post on this forum might speed my way considerably. TIA to anyone who can help me out.
Project info: I have authored a Keynote presentation on California and the Civil War. (Visit www.bearriverbooks.com if you're interested in the content). I have two versions of the show – one at 4:3 (1024 x 768 pixels) and one at 16:9 (1280 x 720 pixels). I want to produce a DVD of the show to sell to the general public.
Work flow: The workflow is Keynote exported as QT.mov to AfterEffects, where timing is adjusted and animations refined. I then want to build a project in Encore and import my AE composition (via dynamic link, if possible). I have built the 16:9 menus in Photoshop and tested them successfully in Encore. The total Keynote show comes to 45 minutes, and the data load is light, since much of the presentation is composed of still images. Should be loads of room on the DVD. All Adobe apps are CS5.
Questions:
1) Is 16:9 the industry standard DVD aspect ratio these days? (I assume that a big slice of DVD-watching occurs on 16:9 HDTV sets. Any current stats on HDTV vs. computer-based watching?)
2) I notice that some DVDs I rent from Netflix are dual formatted (4:3 and 16:9). Any point to this now, or is the a relic of the analog past?
3) What should my QT export specs from Keynote be? I’d like to get the best resolution I can from my Keynote graphics and sound. (Sound is 16-bit 48000 uncompressed.)
4) What should my AfterEffects composition and Encore project transcoding specs be?
This is where I am really hurting. I have no idea what formats are best suited for the general marketplace. Frame resolution, pixel aspect ratio, and frame rates still seem pretty arbitrary to me after my initial reading of the Encore docs and various Wikipedia articles. Interleave? Progressive scan? I have no idea what to shoot for. Any help in this area would be gratefully accepted, as would referrals to lucid research documents.

What other options instead of QT do you have available?
QT is the only animation export option. You can kick out png.s, jpg.s, and tif.s as stills but you only get one image per "build" state (which you can think of as a kind of animation keyframe). This route would require a lot of animation & transition re-building in AfterEffects, which I'd like to avoid. (Animating in Keynote is a bit like building a ship in a bottle, but Apple has created a remarkable set of capabilities, given that there is no timeline or layer palette. Truth is, I only see some tweaking necessary in AfterEffects.)
If you want 1280x720 on a disk you have to make a BluRay disk.
It looks like Encore is equipped to do this with a minimum of fuss. Does anyone have any rule of thumb about current DVD vs Blue Ray market share? This product would be sold at historical societies, museums, and in the educational market. Probably not cutting edge technology users, but not altogether out of the loop. (I.e., no VHS tapes!)

Dyanmic work center selection in production order based on material

Hi ALL,
We’ve a business requirement to support the following functionality.
There are four similar type of milling machines say MILL1 MILL2, MILL3, MILL4, we create a single work center called MILLMC by specifying total capacity of four milling machines in the capacity header screen of work center with 4 individual capacities. And we mention work center MILLMC in the operation of routings for respective materials.
However, during production order creation, there needs to be provision for detailed planning of work centers as per the following requirements
In production order, some operations can be performed on any one of the machines MILL1 MILL2, MILL3, MILL4, so provision needs to be there to enter exact machine on which it is performed in the production order operation after the details are copied from respective routing during production order creation.
In production order, some operations can be performed on only MILL3, so system should select only MILL3 in the respective operation of the production order
In production order, some operations can be performed on either MILL1 or MILL2 or MILL4 and not on MILL3, so system should not select MILL3 in the respective operation of the production order.
Please provide your valuable feedback to support the above requirements.
