Work Folders on Windows 7 - Error Sync Stopped Can't Encrypt Files

Hello All-
We are getting ready to roll out Work Folders.  It is working all fine on Windows 8.1 devices and am not trying to get it to work on Windows 7 SP1 devices.  The Work Folders client for Win7 installs fine and I can configure it, however,
immediately after configuring work folders it displays an error stating that "Sync Stopped.  Can't Encrypt Files."  There is really no other information that I can find on this error.
Any help would be appreciated!!
Thanks

Digging around a bit more, I found some error msgs in Work Folders Event log:
Event ID 2100
Sync failed. Work Folders path: C:\Users\testuser\Work Folders; Error: (0x80c80314) The Work Folders path has to be encrypted. You might have an application holding the Work Folders folder open or the folder might be compressed. Close Windows Explorer and
any open files or apps, and check the folder Advanced properties to ensure that the folder is not compressed.
and
Event ID 9002
Work Folders detected a sync error. Check partnership status, network connectivity, and disk space.
Again, these errors only occur on Windows 7 SP1 Professional | Enterprise devices.  Windows 8.1 devices function as desired.

itunes has gone from working fine to not opening overnight!  When I click on the icon I get 2 messages:  MSVCR80.dll is missing and then windows error 126.  Can anyone suggest a remedy?

    Hey there Riab,
It sounds like you are unable to launch iTunes due to this error message. I recommend removing iTunes with the following article to get iTunes AND its associated programs uninstalled:

When that is done, download and install iTunes from this page:

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

i keep getting this error code 7 (windows error 126).  can't open itunes, what do i do?

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

Hi, Upgraded to Acrobat Pro 9 and Windows 7, and I can't merge files anymore.  Acrobat Pro tries to save each file individually before it tries to combine the files.  I actually get an error message with PDF files that are in my list of files to merge.  Please help!

  • Error while relocating (Can't write file (no space)) - Help please

I have been having trouble relocating master files since upgrading to Leopard. The problem doesn't seem to affect only Aperture. I can happen when using Finder or another application to move files from one drive to another. Other types of files don't seem to be affected, just my library of image files.
The copy operation runs for a while then hangs up. The application doing the copy reports an error that that's the end. Aperture gives this error message: Error while relocating (Can’t write file (no space)). The Finder reports plenty of available space on the destination drive!
I remember seeing a thread--but can't find it now--about a problem with certain xmp metatdata embedded into files causing problems with file operations.
    Hoping for a solution!

It's possible that you might have a corrupt file. Have you tried to copy different files on to the destination drive? If those files copy fine, then narrow down the offending file by copying less images at a time.

safari 5.1 not loading MOST of the times. like 1 in 100 attempts it works fine, and that too, as long as you work in same window. and what's the webkit2webprocess.exe file?

the webkit2webprocess.exe has something to do with the sound. Safari works fine for me, except for the occasional time when the webkit2webprocess.exe crashes. Sometimes it crashes Safari altogether but sometimes it just reloads all the tabs I have opened. Either way, it's a huge pain. I hope they fix it with an update soon.

  • Work Folders: An unexpected error occurred 0x80041293

    Hi,
We are using Work Folders and it works for almost all. Since we had a lot of problems with the server complaining about file rights, we have replace the original server. But one user with W8.1 (of about 50) can't make the connection to the new server work,
he gets an error. When I remove the "force" option in the group policy so he can set it up manually, he get's this error:
There was a problem setting up Work Folders. Please try again. (Details: An unexpected error occured. (0x80041293)
When I change him back to the old server, it starts to work again. Environment: Both servers are 2012R2 and the clients are W8.1/W7 and as I wrote earlier, it works for all other clients. I haven't found anything on the www with that error code (am I first
    with this problem?).
    Br Linus Hellsing

Yes, I believe you are the first with this problem.
That error code (SYNC_E_METADATA_STORE_VERSION_MISMATCH) is an indicator that something is wrong with the synchronization database, likely on the file server and not on the client.  The thing that is unusual is that the error indicates the entire database
could not be opened.  Because there is one database per sync share, I would expect all users configured against this sync share to fail in this way, rather than just one user of ~50.
Can you check your server configuration, to identify if you have more than one Sync Share setup on this server?  My thought is that there may be more than one SyncShare configured, which has a DB problem, and for some reason this is the only user being
routed to the problem sync share.
Additionally, check the eventlog on the server.  You can see this by opening 'Event Viewer', and navigating to 'Applications and Services'-->'Microsoft'-->'Windows'-->'SyncShare'-->'Operational'.  If there is an event that looks correlated
to this failure, post its details which may give further hints.
    Thanks,

  • Work Folders client setup errors: No prompt for AD credentials & Lockscreen policies not applied.

    Hi everyone.
I've recently set up a test environment for Work Folders (Server 2012 R2). I'm only testing inside my network so no internet access is required. I have encountered two issues:
When setting up a domain-joined client using a GPO everything works fine, except for the lockscreen/password policy settings. If I enable this on the fileserver the sync fails claiming that the PC
doesn't comply with my organization's security policies. This is very weird since Work Folders is responsible for configuring these policies.
There's no Apply GPO option available in the Control Panel item.
When setting up a non-domain-joined client for Work Folders I'm not prompted for AD credentials. The setup fails with the error:
You 're not set up on the server. However, if I open the workfolders URL in Internet Explorer I do
get prompted for my AD credentials.
Here's some details about the environment:
Server 2012 R2 DC. No other GPO's than the work folder GPO.
    DNS alias called workfolders.<domain>.local configured.
Fileserver set up with self-signed certificate (SSC) bound to default website. The certificate is either manually installed on the clients or distributed via the GPO. The certificate is made with server name workfolders.<domain>.local.
Work Folder GPO on client OU:
    - Certificate distribution of SSC
    - Loopback Policy enabled
    - Work Folders enabled with Force automatic setup
Both servers and clients are VMs. Non-domain-joined client logged in as local administrator.
Has anyone else encountered these issues? Can anyone shed some light on how to resolve this?
    Thanks in advance!
    MicaH

Roberto, I don't have a W3SVC1 folder containing log files, so no dice. I did find out through event logs that the account that's used to authenticate is the fileservers' local administrator account! Then I remembered that my local Administrator
accounts' password on my client is the same as on the fileserver (it's a test environment). So I changed the clients local admin password and it finally worked!
I still have issues with the Device Policies, though. Any thought on that subject?
Edit: The issue with the device policies is caused by my testuser not being a local admin on the client. I had adjusted my powerplan settings so I could keep my RDP session to the client open and without admin rights the work folders policies cannot be applied.
Does anyone know how to set these policies using GPO?

  • HT1349 I have installed and uninstalled iTunes on multiple occasions, but keep getting the error message that "Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes ..... Error 2 (Windows Error 2)".  Can't find any useful solution.  Can anyone help?  Pleeee

I have instlled and uninstalled iTunes on multiple occasions but iTunes fails to start with message "Apple Application support is required to run iTunes .......... Error 2 (Windows error 2)".  Most most frustrating.  Can anyone help, pleeeeeeease!!

iTunes "Apple Application Support is required... Error 2" and possible fix.
    Hi Redgilly (and others).
I just resolved this on Win Vista (should apply equally for Win7 too). Please uninstall iTunes before proceeding though. I'll walk you through the process I followed, if you like you can jump straight to the Solution section.
    Problems:
The initial error during the installation of iTunes was:
An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publicKeyToken='1fc8b 3b9a1e18e3b",processorarchitecture="x86". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT:0x8007054F
The error (after installing iTunes) when trying to run iTunes was:
Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again. Error 2 (Windows error 2).
After trying various fixes around the forums I came across this MSKB article, which relates to the first installation error:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2688946
This lead me to trying to install MS Visual C++ but I received the following error trying to install that:
    Error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly ‘Microsoft.VC80.ATL,type=”win32”,version=”8.0.50727.762”,publicKeyToken=”1fc8b3 b9a1e18e3b”,processorArchitecture=”amd64”’. Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x80070BC9. Assembly interface: IassemblyCacheItem, function: Commit, component: {837BF1EB-D770-94EB-A01F-C8B3B9A1E18E}
Note: The installation of VC++ rolls back when it fails.
    Solution:
Through this error I found this MSKB article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946414
The Automated MS "Fix It" msi package didn’t work.
Note: Please backup your registry first (see the above MSKB article for instructions).
I opened the registry and (as instructed in the MSKB article) deleted the following keys:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\
    PendingXmlIdentifier
    NextQueueEntryIndex
    AdvancedInstallersNeedResolving
    Reboot and reinstall iTunes.
    I hope this helps.

  • Work Folders for Windows 7

    Hi,
Would anyone know when Work Folders client support will be available for Windows 7? It was meant to be made available shortly after general availability of Server 2012 R2 (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/home?forum=windowsserverpreview)
    Thanks,
    HA.

    Hi,
This should be a client side question. I just discussed with Windows client support about this question, it seems that currently there is no clearly date when Work Folders will be added to Windows 7. Personally I assume it will be included in a service pack
    like Windows 8.1.
