Work Order Requirements Assignment
Hi PM Gurus,
I have a situation and am hoping some of you have seen it before.
I have a created a maintenance work order from a notification. On the work order Operations tab I choose an operation and assign resources on the Requirements Assignment tab (on the bottom left of the screen). Everything is good so far...and the workorder is saved.
When the workorder is TECO'ed in another step all the requirements assignment for the operation is lost.....am I missing a piece of configuration or is this normal behavior....have any of you seen this happen before and overcome it.
Please advise.

I got this situation that user TECO this work order by mistake, and later he reinstate this, meaning cancel TECO, requirements assignment for the operation is empty , and user would like to expect to see this planned data once again, do you have some solutions?

gangathere are two ways to do this,
1. create a equipment bill of material and assign the equipment bill of material to the maintenance work order.
2. if equipment bill of material is not available then create the work order and assign the maintenance spares manually in the maintenance work order.

PReq quantity not synchronized with work order.
Hello,
I have a work order for which created Preq for external component with quantity 10.
Then when converting PReq into PO I have change the quantity to 5. So I have PO with quantity 5 but in the work order requirement quantity is still 10. When trying to change it on work order level I'm getting following error message: 'A purchase order already exists for purchase requisition ...'
Does anyone of you know if there is any option to synchronize quantity in work order level with PReq and PO? I know that for the sales orders there is t-code VA07 for Comparison of Orders with PReqs and POs. Do we have the same option for maintenance work orders?

This is generally a information message and not a error message. Check whether someone has changed the configuration for the message number from "I" TO "E" under Spro> pm > Maintenance and service processing > Config control > Define attributes for system messages.

Intercompny billing for maintenance work orders
All,
I have two scenarios dealing with intercompany activities for maintenance work orders. The first scenario involves a maintenance work order in Company B doing work on equipment also in Company B. The work order requires labor services and material from Company A. What is the most efficient way to consume the labor and material into the Company B work order? My client requires intercompany billing anytime labor services and/or material crosses into another company. So for this scenario, should I execute a cross-company labor confirmation and material consumption and then, create intercompany invoicing from this activity? Or, should Company B provide a purchase order to Company A for the labor and material and then, Company A executes intercompany billing to facilitate the correct intercompany financial postings?
The second scenario requires a maintenance work order settlement from Company A to Company B. How should the intercompany billing be done for this? Should I settle to the cost object in company B and then do the intercompany billing? Or, should I settle to a sales document (i.e., debit memo) and then execute the intercompany billing?
Pleases advise.

You should be able to use the List edit transaction iw38 to select and print Multiple Orders simultaneosuly. Once you have selected the orders in the Output screen, use the menu path ORDER > PRINT ORDER.

Order is assigned to a general notification - INCORRECT SAP BEHAVIOR
Has anyone encountered the issue where a work order is assigned to a general notification. This is an incorrect SAP behavior. Only maintenance and service notifications can be linked to a work order.
Here's the steps to replicate the issue:
1. Open a work order via transaction IW32.
2. Go to Objects tab.
3. In the next available line of the Object List table, go to the Notification column. Enter a GENERAL notification. (Here at work, we have a process where operator submit a work/change request. They come in initial as GENERAL notifications. It then goes to an approval process. That's when it gets converted to a Maintenance Notification).
4. After entering the general notification number, hit enter. You will get the error "Transaction not allowed
for notification type G1". G1 is our general notification type. This behavior is correct.
5. Take out the notification number since it is causing an error. Hit enter. This time no more errors show up. Everything is fine.
6. Save the work order.
7. Open table QMEL via transaction SE16.
8. Look for the general notification. You will see that field AUFNR was assigned the work order number. THIS IS NOT CORRECT.
I looked at SAP Notes but didn't find one that will fix the issue. I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this issue before. Thanks.

You are definitely right about this. Such an incosistency in one of the tables refers to an incorrect behavior. But one amazing thing is that the Object List table OBJK is not updated with the notification number whereas the Notification table QMEL gets updated with the order number and even the status of the notification is changed to Order Assigned and whenever you would try to link the notification to another order, it would not allow you to do so.
In this case, I suppose you should raise an OSS to SAP regarding such behaviour. I was also searching the marketplace, did find some SAP notes about inconsistencies in the QMEL table like 1345087 but none actually addresses this issue.

Requirement Assignment Tab on Work Order
Hi Gurus,
I am working on capacity planning.I am creating an order & putting some requirement let say 2HR. with the help of capacity levelling in CM25, I am dispatching the manpower against that req, which is getting updated in PM order on requirement assignment tab.After conpletion of job I am doing techo. Now my qyery is :
1. During teco, requirement assignment tab is not there in order.
2. If I am cancelling that Teco of order, manpower which is udpated thorugh CM25 in order, is getting clear.
Is this the standard system behaviour, if yes, please guide me what is the reason. In case of no, how to solve this.

As mentioned, it is expected that requirement assignment data is deleted at time of technical completion. Documented in KBA/Note [1634839|https://bosap-support.wdf.sap.corp/sap/support/notes/1634839].

When I assign one Resource to Reqmnt assignment tab and give any date of friday then the date is automatically switches to Monday's date . the Work schedule for that person is from Monday to Friday but then also it shifts the date to Monday .
Can you please suggest on this .

Work Manager 6.0 - Order & Notification assignment type Z
Hi Agentry experts,
for WM 6.0 we have the idea to get a more flexible assignment for notifications and work orders, as our business process requires more flexibility than the standard available assignment types e.g. Work Center
User A should only see certain equipment
User B should see certain activity types
User C should only see unscheduled
etc.
Our idea is to add custom assignment types (similar to described by Mark here) which will call the standard reports behind IW29 / IW39 with a user specific selection variant.
Does any of you have experience which you could share, or a better suggestion how this can be achieved?

we are now working on this and have implemented some ABAP code for Notification and Work Order Assignment Type = Z which is available in the standard WM 6.0 config panel. This is also configured in the mobile application config and data object filters (as described in the Assignment Type documents.
However, on the client we get error: Invalid Wo.AssignmentType from the ini file or SAP Mobile Configuration. Please check the ini file or the mobile configuration for assignmenttype (Z) in section APPLICATION_CONFIG
So our Assignment config is OK, but not working. I see in Java that this error is thrown by class WorkOrderAssignmentTypeDelegateFactory, this class only tests on types 1-8 and A.
Any guidance on how to resolve this easy would be appreciated.

FM/BAPI to update requirements assignment on a PM order

I am working on a project which involves building interfaces between a client's SAP ECC system and a third party scheduling system. The orders are created in SAP, interfaced to the third party, where they assign resources and schedule appointments. Hence we need to build is inbound to SAP, to update the "requirements assignment" tab of PM order operations - transaction IW32.
I have looked at BAPI_ALM_ORDER_MAINTAIN, but this doesn't provide this specific functionality.
Does anyone know if there is any other type of function module which enables this to be created/updated?
The data appears to be stored in table KBED - capacity requirements.

After lots of search and trials, I have gave up on the function group CY_BT*.
I eventually used direct update on the database tables of the Requirements Assignment.
Using SQL Trace and Runtime Analysis of the transaction IW31/32, I have been able to imitate the standard SAP process for creation, update and deletion and the effect of every scenario on the database tables:
KBED Capacity Requirements Records
KBEZ Add. data for table KBED (for indiv. capacities/splits)
KBKO Header Record for Capacity Requirements
Combine that with locking mechanism, you will get your results.
Just build a Z-'BAPI'. The best cost-benefit balance, as far as I am concerned.

There is no config required for requirement assignment tab
You can split the work using the employees.. and assign particular work hours to them

Error Message while assigning resource to work orders
Hi All,
We have the MRS tool integration with service work orders for scheduling. When we assign the resources with 9 hours as duration there is no error. When we allocate more than 9 hours for some resources, not all, we receive the error message as
" Duration 29,160 S is not a multiple of 15 minutes " . These duration of secs varies when the duration is varied > 9 hours.
We have checked the planning board profile configurations but nothing seems to be visible. In customising we have the following settings,
Time Granularity : 15 mins
Min duraiton of assignments: 15 mins
Automatic Assignment Splits
Min duraiton : 2 hours
Max overtime hours : 2 hours
Max Ratio is % : 75
Can anyone throw some light on this?

The MRS is integrated with Service Order types and the operations are selected for each order then the assignment of hours takes place in MRS.
If the assignment is done for 9 hours then there is no such error. These errors are very specific to some personnel numbers ( not for all ) where the duration is more than 9 hours.
Is there any availability of resources for this operation / job through configuration settings? Why such a question is some resources even when 15 or 20 hours is assigned , no errors exists.

Assign Valuation Area to work order type
I have created new order types but i am getting a stop error saying the valuation area is not defined when i put in the planning plant on the initial create work order screen.

What configuration is needed to be able to assign a equipment to work order operation ?
I already have few equipments assigned to a work order (displayed on the objects tab) but I need to assign some equipments to certain operations.Sveinn,
You would need to be in ECC6.0 to be able to do this. This should be available through SPRO under PM> Maintenace and service processing > Functions and setting for order types > Define notification and order integration.Within this you would need to enable the assignment of operations to object list for specific order types.
