Work space on dual monitors

I have arranged my tool panels (swatches/paragraph styles etc.) onto the second monitor. However, every time I restart InDesign, all my tool panels go back to one monitor and I have to drag all the tool panels back to the second monitor. Is there some way that the program remembers the workspace on a dual monitor setup?
Also, The screen of my InDesign is often truncated into the top left hand corner. See screen capture attached.

I see from your screenshot that you have probably set Multiple displays to Duplicate these displays in Windows.
Right click on the desktop and choose Screen resolution. Set Multiple displays to Extend these displays.
That's how I've got my two monitors set up in Windows 7, and I have no problem with the panels on the second monitor.

  • Displaying different spaces in dual monitors

    Hi, all.
I am using dual monitors in Mountain Lion. Can I display different spaces (desktop 1, desktop 2 or dashboard) in different monitors using mission control?
    Thank you.

I am watching live broadcast or youtube in Safari in one window and browing the web in another window separatly. When I put the live broadcast or youtube in full screen (not the Safari full screen mode), I cannot browse the web in the other window beacuse I cannot locate my mouse.
Any suggestion for me to watch youtube in full screen in one monitor and browse the web in the other monitor using the same application?
    Thank you.
I don't know how to achieve what you want exactly, but for this very same purpose I have used two browsers.
My usual browser is Safari, but I have successfully done what you describe by opening the broadcast with Chrome and navigating the web in Safari at the same time (I suppose Firefox would work just as well).

  • Panel menus aren't working correctly on dual monitors

    Hi,
I posted a question yesterday about this, but no one replied.  Maybe my subject didn't describe the problem so I am trying again.
I use DW on a dual monitor Windows XP system.  The program is on the main monitor and I move some of the panels/palettes to the secondary monitor which is to the left of the main monitor.  The problem is that when I click the little menu icon in the upper right corner of the panels, the context menus open all the way over on the far right side of the main monitor.  Please see the attached image to see exactly what is happening.
I have tried everything I can think of to make this work correctly, but no luck.  My Photoshop workspace is set up similarly and the PS palette menus open just as they should.
    Thank you.

  • Spaces and Dual Monitors

I have a new 24" iMac with a 22" Dell extending the desktop. When I activate spaces it switches between the spaces for both monitors (as I'm sure it should). However, I am wanting to know if there is a way for me to make it where Spaces will only switch the main iMac screen and not switch the Dell. This is because I use the Dell to hold Snitter, Adium, CoverSutra, Transmission, etc. Things that I would like to have open at all times.

what you can do is assign Snitter, Adium, CoverSutra and Transmission to every space in Spaces preferences and make sure that their application windows are positioned on your Dell. This will more or less accomplish what you are after.

  • Spaces, Applications, Dual Monitors

I have Mail and my web browser set to open in "all spaces". I have two monitors and would like both applications to open in my "main" monitor (left one). When I open them, however, they always open in the secondary monitor (right one). Is there a way to change this? Help appreciated! Thanks.

  • Mac: Full screen on dual monitors still doesn't work with Flash 10.2 upgrade

Recently upgraded to Flash 10.2 specifically for the ability to work on a second monitor while watching fullscreen video on the first.  It's still not working at all.  The second I click on anything on the second screen, the video jumps back from full screen.  I checked to make sure that these sites work properly with dual monitors on a Windows machine.  Any tips to get this working?  Without this feature, certain websites are completely useless.
Running: MAC 10,2,152,33 on OSX 10.6.6

Hi, I think you are right about it being in this latest FP update. The "More like This" feature on the right hand side of the threads is not working. I think I have some info on Full Screen, but not the dual monitor issue. I'll check to be sure.
I'll try to find some info on it. There were so many changes that came out with this last update.
Will get back to you when I find the info.

  • Dual Monitor Out of Frequency

I am reposting this from another area to see if get a response here.
I have a G5 Dual 1.8 machine with a GeForce FX 5200 DVI-VGA and ADC-VGA adapters. It drives to 17in Daewoo LCD monitors.
It all worked fine with dual monitors until I upgraded to 10.4.3. First alternatively one of my monitors went out of frequency after working through most of start up. Then the next causing the same work. Then after getting it to work by swapping around the monitors and reseting the frequency down to 75hz, both monitors went out of frequency.
I reinstalled tiger and upgraded all the way to 10.4.2 and am able to use both monitors. I did this in both archive and full mode. I also upgraded in steps several times so I am confident it is a problem that ocurs with 10.4.3 upgrade.
So it looks like their is a bug in 10.4.3 that does periodically puts the frequency out of range for the monitor.
I am posting this to be helpful to others who might experience this problem and to request any suggestions that I might have missed.

Now I just tried 10.4.5. Still the same problem. So again I went back to 10.4.2 and the problem goes away.
Given the lack of responses to my posting, I am puzzled - there must be someone else out there with a fx 5200 nvidia and vga monitors - why am I the only one with this challenge?

  • Dual monitors reset on AE start-up

I'm working with a dual monitor setup with the timeline on the second monitor.  Each time the program opens, the the timeline window appears centered on the main window and it needs to be repositioned over to the 2nd monitor.
I've tried saving the layout, without any effect on the issue.  Otherwise everything works as expected.  It's just annoying having to constantly move the window each time the program starts.
Any advice on how to keep this from happening?
    Thanks.

This has nothing to do with AE usually. Such stuff is handled by your graphics driver and operating system. If you let them treat multiple monitors separately and not as one huge desktop, this behavior is to be expected.

  • Bug - Color Management Photoshop 11 and OS X 10.6 Dual Monitors

I need to know if it's just me, or others are seeing this.
Color management doesn't seem to work properly on dual monitors (MBP + Dell 2408) with Photoshop 11/CS4 and 10.6.
Each of my monitors is independently calibrated and all other apps work fine.  For reference Lightroom 2.4/Preview 5.0/FireFox 3.5.2 all render properly across both monitors.  Under 10.5 Preview 4.X did not render properly across two monitors, I was so happy in 10.6 it finally did, but PS is WAY more important so I'm kinda bummed.
Anyway, this seems to only happen on the 2nd monitor.  If I move the menu bar (Prefs/Displays/Arrangement) to the external monitor making it primary monitor then it works for that monitor, but no longer for the laptop display.  Photoshop render images on the 2nd monitor way washed out, but normally on the primary.
Photoshop 11.0.1 worked fine for me on dual monitors under 10.5.

So if you've read the links above regarding the "default monitor" issue, people have suggested that a potential workaround is to go to System Preferences>Displays>Arrangement>drag the menu bar from the first diplay to the second
Essentially you make your secondary monitor the default display.
For me what this does to PS is that it now displays the matching colors to Lr in the secondary display (which is now the default display with the menu bar at the top), BUT! when I drag the PS window back into my MacBook display it appears OVERLY saturated...
Strangely Lr appears the same in both windows, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY with the same colors, saturation, brightness, just as it did before I made my Dell 2405FPW the default display. Basically, Lr hasn't shifted in color from display to display or even from display to display after making the secondary monitor my new default display. It has retained the same integrity of colors through all these changes.
Which begs the question, if Lr can't handle dual displays and always uses the color profile of the display it begins in (starts running in), then why does it never shift in color and still look exactly the same after I've made my Dell 2405FPW my primary display?
And actually, if you look really really carefully, Lr DOES produce a color shift between displays as you drag it from one screen to the next. It's extremely fast and happens pretty much as you get 0.5 to 1 inch of the window into the secondary display. It's subtle on my monitor too, which leads me to believe that it performs this color correction properly, quickly, and seamlessly.
What if, my Photoshop 10.0 (old version of CS3) is not registering and understanding the secondary display's color profile correctly? What if it really is PS's fault because everything else looks right? Maybe the issue I'm having is different from what others are experiencing, after all we're in 10.6 now and most of these issues were reported in 10.4 and 10.5? I should probably upgrade my PS CS3 and see what happens?
jb, what version of PS do you have?

  • How to get iPhoto on dual monitors

  • Pages in Dual Monitor

Is it true that the new Inspector panel in Pages cannot be moved from the right side of the document window?
I work on a dual monitor setup, and the point is to have only the documuent on the right screen - no clutter - and park the tools on the left screen.
Also, the very reason I ever started using Pages was the advent of the Ribbon in MS Word.
Is there any solution that allows me to stop wasting inches of real estate on the right side of my right monitor? Has anyone found a magic way of detaching the panel from the document window, as many other programs enable?
What are left-handed people supposed to do?

Firefox doesn't always play well with a multiple monitor setup and hardware acceleration.
    Try to disable hardware acceleration.

  • PSE7 Organizer and Dual Monitors

In Vista 32 PSE7 Organizer spreads across both monitors in dual monitor mode and will not shrink to fit on a single monitor. The full editor works OK in dual monitor mode. Does anyone have a solution?

    Hi ecat,
I wanted the product number so that I could check the specs on your notebook to see what ports you have on your notebook. However, your model is a CTO which means Custom to Order so I can't pull up the specs.
This HP document Using Two or More Monitors with One Computer will show you the types of video connections and how to extend the desktop. This will be a guideline to show you how to setup the external monitor.

  • Windows 7 and dual monitors

    Hello,
Just bought a new iMac for black friday (woohoo). I know I can install windows 7 but my question is, if I use another monitor(iMac being the primary computer) is windows 7 going to work with my dual monitors? Sometimes I work from home and I need 2 monitors under Windows. I will mostly use the remote desktop connection program from Windows.
    Thank you

if you install the apple drivers you make with the bootcamp app in osx or download from apples site sure
been using a 24" dell dvi monitor as second monitor for my imac in windows7 and windows 8 and now windows 8.1

  • Dual monitor not working under Boot Camp on Mac Pro ATI HD 2600 XT

Recently got a brand new Mac Pro with ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT graphics card.
On the Mac side (Leopard), everything works perfectly: my second monitor (a plasma screen connected with HDMI to the second DVI of the ATI card via HDMI/DVI adapter) is fully recognized and it works as an extended desktop or in Mirroring mode.
Under Boot Camp (Windows XP Pro) however, NOTHING: the second monitor always appears in the display properties, but it is grayed out (inactive), and when I try to activate it, it switches back to being grayed out immediately and nothing gets displayed on it.
After reading all the posts I can find on the topic, I tried the following (in pretty much every possible combination - Thank god for WinClone that allows me to restore the Boot Camp basic install image without having to reinstall Windows from scratch every time):
    a) Bootcamp 2.0 (installed by default by Bootcamp assistant)
    b) Update to Bootcamp 2.1
    1) Windows XP Pro SP2c vanilla install (from my Windows XP pro install disk)
    2) Update to Windows XP SP3 (I tried with and without BC 2.1: both worked -> BC 2.1 didn't seem to be required for SP3 - maybe because this is a mac pro and not a MB or MBP)
    i) ATI drivers installed by default by Boot Camp assistant (BC 2.0) or by BC 2.1
ii) Latest ATI drivers found on ATI web site specifically under Boot Camp / Mac Pro.
Note: Interestingly, the catalyst installer worked ok (provided .NET framework 2.0 is installed though), but it seems that the Radeon BootCamp/Mac Pro driver set itself from ATI's web site does NOT include a driver for the HD 2600 XT - so when I install this driver set, it tells me that no compatible hardware was found...
iii) Latest ATI drivers found under Windows XP (these did include one driver specifically for the Radeon HD 2600 XT)
NOTHING seems to work. I read posts (most of the from late last year) about ATI Catalyst utility showing a 3rd monitor at some point, but I never got any 3rd monitor showing in any of my many many trials with Catalyst. I have yet to get a single image appear on my plasma under Bootcamp Windows. I don't believe its the hardware because everything works great on the max OS X side.
I am actually considering switching to an NVidia 8800 GT just to get the dual screen to work under BootCamp/Windows XP because I really need it and I read everywhere that drivers for NVidia are far better than ATI ones.
Any advice? What should I try next before getting an 8800 ?
Is there a diagnostic utility that I can use to test my config including the GC?
    Thanks!

Hi there aside from my laptop I have an iMac 20" with the same HD 2600 XT card. I recently installed the Catalyst 8.6 driver by using a driver mod from driverheaven, I use Vista 32. By installing it this way I got boosted performance and many issues with the bootcamp drivers were fixed. As you may already know the ATI drivers do not install on bootcamped macs usually but the mod tool fixes this. Its unofficial so do so at your own risk but try it out and see if you get the second monitor if not just rollback. Hope this helps and I didn't want to say too much about the 8.6 driver mod because it may not be allowed here but google will provide any answers.

  • T510 dual monitors no longer working properly

I have a T510 running Win7 64-bit.  For at least 3 years, I have had the same dual monitor setup (2 DoubleSight DS-1900S) running off my minidock with the laptop closed.  The rgith monitor is the primary, running off the DVI port, while the left uses the analog port.  I was away for a week at Scout camp, powered on the system once while I was there, and when I came back to the office, my monitor setup started failing.
Specifically, the right screen is active but it no longer displays the signal being sent to it.  When I powercycle the screen, I can see the display for about a quarter of a second, then it goes blank.  When the problem first started, I could cycle it about 20 times and eventually it would stay on, until I left the unit overnight and it went to sleep, at which point the probelm started again.
Sounds like a wonky monitor?  I have a backup set of monitors that I swapped in, and had the same exact problem, so that appears to rule out a mechanical defect.  More fun facts: I can only use the laptop screen as a standalone display.  I cannot get the multidisplay control panel to open, even though my left screen is powered up.  However, one of my programs that normally launches to my right (main) screen will still launch, but not to my laptop screen.  It really wants to live on my right screen, even when that screen is not powered on (I can close the program by accessing the icon bar at the bottom of my laptop screen).
As you might surmise, this is an extremely frustrating situation.  I have gone on many trips with this laptop, and each time I returned, I either plugged it into the minidock with no issues, or I had to readjust my power settings briefly to get it to work as per usual.  This time, I have no clue what went wrong.  Suggestions?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have not changed any software or drivers (knowingly), and I had already checked the cables to make sure they were all tight, so off I went to ransack the house to dig out the spare cables.  DVI cable? no change.  Power cable? no change.  Converter cable - OMG!!!!  IT WORKS!!!!
Thank you SO much!  I could have sworn this was a software issue, never considered a bad cable or power unit.
Both monitors are working properly, left-to-right scroll is working properly.  Now all I need is to figure out how to get all my icons/shortcuts back onto the right screen...
