Work with after effects, mac mini i5 or i7 ?

Hi! I'm working with after effects and Cinema 4D, mac mini i5 is better than i7? I don't know if the video card has influence (HD Graphics 3000 de Intel vs adeon HD 6750M de AMD con 512 MB), but the CPU maybe is more important.
Thanks!
rompelomo

As otehrs have said the i5 is probably all the speed you will need, but in the future the i7 may well deliver a bit if an edge. I see no reason not to go directly to 16GB, you could probably get by with 8GB but "get by" is the operative phrase. SSDs have been mentioned, but You should consider the 1.1TB Fusion drive. As a practical matter the overall performance will be VERY close to that of all SSD, but a lot more capacity at a much lower price than SSD.
Since you are a web developer, I will share my "site development" secret with you. I had a rather ancient Mac mini I was not using. It was old and slow, but could run Mavericks and Server. I have it setup in a closet, running headless (no monitor or keyboard) and controlled from my Mac mini workstation. It is a great place to test new sites without having to go live. I do occasionally catch a problem running on my remote site server that I missed testing on my development Mac mini. Since I already had the old Mac mini my total outlay for my test site turned out to be $30 for the Server app.

You haven't given us much to go on here.  What exactly are you doing and what exactly happens when you try?  Which specific version of each program are you using?  (Go to Help>About...)
On a side note, a simple, brief thread title is all that's needed.  Something like "After Effects Issue" would be fine.  You don't need the full question there.

  • Working with after effects in photoshop?

I want to edit some contents of the after effects of videos like clearning up skin or removing objects in photoshop from after effects  - how would this get done? both ar cs5 and both ar 64bit

If you want to work on the frames of a movie in Photoshop, you have a few options. One is to render and export a composition from After Effects as an image sequence, and work on the frames as individual images in Photoshop. Another approach is tor ender and export the composition as a QuickTime movie and then import tha into Photoshop; this requires Photoshop Extended.
These options are covered in a bit more detail in "Working with After Effects and Photoshop".

  • Will a Saittek Eclipse usb keyboard work with an Intel Mac Mini?

The Saittek Eclipse is my favorite keyboard.
Anybody know if it will work with an Intel Mac Mini.
Box only says Windows, but I'm just wondering if everything except volume controls will work fine? (it is also illuminated, with a light level control, but I'm guessing this shouldn't matter with Windows vs OS X?)

I am a writer though  and a photographer (strictly point and shoot) for a couple of orgs.  I just don't want o run out of space.  And I hate!! slow response time.
Is the i5 adequate as well?
Glad to have found an Apple guru so quickly.  May very well buc you more in the future.

  • Will a external Apple iSight work with the latest Mac Mini?

with a firewire 400-800 if it will what software do i need to take pictures and videos.
    Many Thanks

Will a external apple isight work with the latest mac mini.
Yes (if the external iSight works.)
External iSights are great webcams, but they are getting old (as consumer electronics go) and some have had pretty rough treatment. You can test yours using the suggestions from this page:
      http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/EZJim/EZJimpage4.html
I suggest you disconnect other Firewire devices until you get your external iSight working with your mini.
If you do not already have an external iSight and are considering buying one now,
a new webcam (with warranty) may be a better choice.
Many available alternatives are listed here: http://www.mac-compatible-web-cam.com/

Use one of the following ways to connect your FW400 external iSight to a FW800 Mac port:
    • To use the FW400 6pin-6pin cable that comes with iSight, you can use a 6pin-9pin adapter
      like one of these:
      http://tinyurl.com/ydsbb6m  (I use this one.)
      http://tinyurl.com/cgll7o
      http://www.sonnettech.com/product/fw_adapter.html
    • This Firewire 400-800 cable can work:
      http://store.apple.com/us/product/TP320LL/A (I use this one.)
    • Some report that this low-priced alternative cable works:
      http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812189097
I suggest you disconnect other Firewire devices until you get external iSight working with your mini. Once iSight works when it is the only FW connected device, you can try connecting other Firewire devices to determine whehter you can use any of them without conflict.
... if it will what software do i need to take pictures and videos.
With your 10.6.3 mini, you can use QuickTime X, iChat, Photo Booth, iMovie, and some of the other apps that are installed with OS X. Your Mac's Help for each of these apps can tell you how to use them with iSight (or other connected cameras.)
Some more apps you can use are shown in this list:
      http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/EZJim/EZJimpage7.html
The web links for each app gives details on what functions is offers with your webcam.
    Many Thanks
    You're welcome.

  • Best laptop for working with after effects

I need a laptop for work with adobe after effects and some others. Anyway I need laptop wich will not cost more than 1400€ and which will have inside intel core i7, 4 GB of memory or more and Nividia graphic card. Somthing more pls dont say the apple is the best beacuse i dont like it very much.
    Thanks.

4GB is a rather small amount of RAM for working with After Effects. If you can get a computer with more RAM, I recommend doing so.
For After Effects CS5, the graphics card (GPU) doesn't matter as much as RAM and CPUs, so focus on RAM and CPUs first.
In general, a laptop is not going to give you the same performance as a desktop computer of the same price. If you need a laptop, fine; but don't be surprised when performance isn't as good as you might like.

  • Will any of my old displays work with the new Mac Mini

I am thinking of getting a new Mac Mini.     What I need to know is if any of the monitor/displays I have here can bem used.

  • So, is there a Mac OS that actually works with After Effects?

I've been a Creative Cloud member for 7 monhts now.  I appreciate the service for my Photo Shop and Audition needs.  However, I've been unable to acces  After Effects.  It's been a major setback for an important project.  I didn't complain at first because, granted, I WAS running OS 10.6.8, and that's a bit outdate.  Today, I FINALLY took the day to back up files, visit the Apple Store and get myself up and running with Maverick, the latest OS.  Finally, right?  Wrong!  I downloaded and installed After Effects, but when I went to open it, I got the same message.
"You can't use this version of the application "Adobe After Effects CC" with this version of OS X."
Really, Adobe?  Can someone please tell me what it takes to run this software?  As far as I understand, you can't really go backwards when it comes to OS installs.  Am I making a mistake here?  Or is the reality that Adobe After Effects will be forever over that next dune.
    Help a brother out.

Thousands of people are using AE CC on Mavericks every day. But not AE version 12.0.0
You must install the update. 12.2.1.5 is the latest version. Well, the latest as of today - there's a new version on its way "soon".

  • Fios Quantum not working with Late 2012 Mac Mini

A new router came out from Verizon in late 2014 so I went ahead and upgraded for $150.  After connecting 3 iPhones, an iPad, and 2 Windows laptops successfully I discovered that my Late 2012 Mac Mini would not work.
Found a random blog post about channel settings, and after some tinkering got it to work.  Basically you need to change the channel settings from Auto to alternate values.  The blog I found said to use 1,6, or 11 for 2.4ghz and a low value for 5ghz.  I tried a few and ended up with channel 6 and 40 as a working pair.  Thought I would share.

I thought about your dilemma while ASC was down, that's good news your welcome!
I spent some of the time replacing the 320GB 5400rpm HD in my 2010 Mac Mini with a 500GB Hitachi Travelstar 7200rpm HD. Then moved forward by Restoring Mountain Lion onto it from an External HD, instead of Snow Leopard from the original 5400rpm drive. I really prefer to keep my music and photos on the Internal HD and so I couldn't justify the cost of a larger SSD.
So basically I flip flopped and now running Mountain Lion on a larger/slightly faster Internal HD and Snow Leopard from a FireWire External HD when needed.

  • HT204388 LCD tv does not work with trackpad on Mac mini

My Mac mini is connected to my tv on the Jimi to Jimi and the trackpad and the keyboard of not work right
    A fix for this ?

    Please provide more information.
First, I have no idea what "Jimi to Jimi" means. This is probably just something you need to explain to me; a Google search didn't turn up anything useful.
You said that the keyboard and trackpad aren't working right. What does this mean, exactly? Regardless, the monitor you use should have no effect on the function of your other peripherals.

  • Will my hp Laserjet 1012 printer work with my new Mac Mini (OS 10.7, Lion)?

I finally have to upgrade from my Mac Mini OS 10.4.11 to a Mac Mini OX 10.7, and wonder if I have to buy all new peripherals, too.
    Here's what I have:
HP Laserjet 1012 black and white printer
    Proview 17-inch display, PL913s
Epson Perfection 4490 flatbed scanner. (I scan a lot of manuscript pages and must have a scanner with an adjustable top)
    Wired keyboard with numeric keypad
    Wired mouse
Yes, I know they're old, but they work fine!
    Thank you!

    Hello Fiona6,
I use iMac (Snow Lep) and 2011 Mini (Lion) and from both systems my results are:
Wired keyboard & mouse - work ok, I don't like or use wireless types.
My LaserJet 1010 - works ok (Your 1012 should also work, same series of printer).
If your display works ok now, cannot see why it would not work. My mini works with various vga and DVI displays I have at various times attached to it.
Don't know about your scanner though, with my all in one printer/scanner I have had to use OS X Image Capture program to scan. Might be worth a look at Epson's site to check on any software updates.
    Roy.
Edit: Regarding display if you are getting a new mini you will need a new display adapter, minidisplayport to vga or dvi, assuming your display is one of these. This can be plugged into the Thunderbolt port on the new Macs.

  • Will Any Usb DVD-RW drive work with the 2011 Mac mini?

I am considering buying a USB DVD-RW drive, and i wanted to hear from people with first hand experience of USB dvd drive support for Mac's I'm looking for a DVD-RW DL drive, so It can burn DVD DL CD's normal DVD's RW's etc. Things a modern superdrive would do esentially.
I have checked and i personaly think the Official apple one will hit my bank too hard, not to mention it doesn't bother me what It looks like
Can anyone recommend any Drives that work?(It will also be used on My PC and Macbook with a broken superdrive)
I was looking around the £15-£25 price range
I was allso wondering if a USB to Sata with a Sata DVD drive will work? As from what i can see nobody has tried it!
    Any help will be appriciated.
    Thanks, Scott.

This OS X compatible > LG GE24LU20 Reviews works great with my iMac and Mac Mini.
Boots System Install and OS X Upgrade Disc's, plus burned and boots a Lion Recovery Disc.
Plus other trick features, like opening and closing from the eject button icon on the menu bar.
