Work with Oracle Data Connection

Hello, I'm Eugene Buzin.
I begin to use the last version of ODT for VS.NET 2005. I havn't used it before.
As I conect to shema via data connection node then I can see and work with objects that are in this schema only. I have grants to select and update objects in other schemas, moreover there are public synonyms for these objects but I can't see them via specific connection. Of course I can add connection node per every schema but I don't know login to all of them. I have access to some objects via synonyms only. Please suggest me what I can do in this situation. You connect to WHAT with scott/tiger? To sqlserver or to Oracle? The message itself is an odbc message, so I think it's the connection to sqlserver and it's very likely here user scott does not exist. Give us more informations what you are actually doing.

In order to create and develop a webcenter portal application, you only need to install JDeveloper and download the WeBCenter extensions. That's true.
But this install does not include the WebCenter services like dicussions, document services, analytics,... If you want to use these and integrate them in your portal, then you would need to install the suite as described on my blog.

I created a simple Excel 2013 PPIV workbook with an oracle data source and uploaded that to SharePoint 2013, but no change in the results - still getting the above error.
What is this error? We have installed Oracle client (64-bit, since we use 64-bit Excel and Sp is also 64-bit) on SSAS PPIV Server and SharePoint Content DB Server. Do we need
to install it anywhere else?

Hi Sonal,
To use PowerPivot for SharePoint on SharePoint 2013, it is required to install PowerPivot for SharePoint with the Slipstream version of SQL Server 2012 SP1. If you install SQL Server 2012 and then use the upgrade version of SQL Server 2012 SP1 to upgrade,
the environment will not support SharePoint 2013.

For database access from Java, you will use JDBC.
For the specifics of the oracle spatial database, you'll have to check the documentation/forum of Oracle.

The iPad also no longer works with celluar data. I'm not sure what has happened. It was working fine a few hours ago. I have tried resetting it, ive restarted my browser etc. I tried to erase all data from my Ipad but I can't do that because it needs to sign into my Apple ID and use the Internet!

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. Xcelsiues 2008, working with live data help!!!

Ok, so i have flynet designer for web services. All this is working correctly. i have setup a test query just to check everything is working so i just pulled out some customer info name, account number etc. I generated the webservice succesfully and i can browse to the website and enter a parameter and it returns results. So i know this part is working ok.
So now im in xcelsius 2008, i add a new web service connection and it connects fine, at this point you have to select the cells where you want the data to go in the little excel spreadsheet panel. but nothing ever appears!!!!??? i dont know what i am doing wrong. has anyone had experience working with live data?

In terms of timescale. I have till April to do this.
I said 2 months cos things always come up. So, in terms of your application have you already:
collected user requirements?
developed and tested an appropriate database structure (tables, datatypes, triggers, views, etc...)?
done any mock-up of some sort of the application pages and business process flows?
gotten approval of any of the above?
If you have all of this yet to complete - and you're new to databases, new to Oracle and new to HTML DB, and have more than a very simple application (10-15 pages) you may still be in over your head with this project.
I'm not trying to discourage you from using HTML DB at all. It's a great tool and you can do some very cool stuff with it. And it's reputation as an Access killer is well deserved. It's just that you may not want to take on a critical time-sensitive project as your first.
Also to consider - are you going to have anyone else helping out with it? If so, what strengths/weaknesses does that person bring to the project? Is it going to help you move faster? Or slow you down - because you're training and developing at the same time?

10g Client Works - VS 2005 Data Connections Fail - SQLPLUS Fails

I am developing on WINDOWS XP SP2 with Oracle Client 10g installed; Visual Studio 2005 SP2 with ODAC110510beta. I have several apps that use the Oracle Client and they work fine; so I know my TNSNAMES.ORA & SQLNET.ORA are good. The same two files are loaded in 10.2.0 & 11.1.0 directories. However, since loading ODAC110510beta, in Visual Studio 2005, I cannot get an Oracle Connection to work for Oracle Data Provider for .Net [ Oracle DataBase Server (Oracle ODP.Net) ] or .Net Framework Data Provider for Oracle [ Oracle DataBase Server (Oracle Client) ].
Visual Studio Error: ORA-12451 TNS:no listener
SQLPLUS error: Error 6 initializing SQL*Plus
The real odd behavior is that some of my old apps have the error and some don't; all runing on my development box.
I have read many blogs and tried everything suggested; but still no luck.
Any suggestions Greatly Appreciated!

How many oracle homes do you have on your development box?
How many tnsnames.ora files do you have?
Are you using TNS_ADMIN parameter for pointing different oracle homes to a single SQL*net configuration?
It sounds that ODAC11xx has created a new oracle home. This home is the last installed and might be first in path. Some tools using "plain" oci libraries using this oracle home. Do you have configured sql*net for this ODAC home?
Some apps are using older or more specialized libraries. These use the old working oracle homes.
Lot's of questions. But some to check and correct.

CrystalReports error in XI 3.1 with Oracle Data Source

Having trouble running Crystal Reports with Oracle data source off XI 3.1 SP3. Reports hang through CMC or InfoView. Have no trouble on identical environment (presumably) with the same reports. Basically this happened after migration.
Report can be run on designer on the server box (suggesting the connection is good) however once uploaded to CMS, it hangs with error. This is not about an specific report only reports with Oracle Data source (Oracle client already installed and connection established)
Any comments appreciated.

ASP application has problems working with oracle database 8.1.7

ASP application has problems working with oracle database 8.1.7 through both oracle ODBC driver and Microsoft ODBC driver
We have an ASP application running on Windows 2000 server, and with 8.1.7 Net8Client and MDAC 2.6 SP1.
The application worked fine with an Oracle 8.0.5 database.
After upgrading oracle database to 8.1.7.0.0, our ASP application works fine except when updating the same data record more than once. The application is not saving our updates.
We tested our application using Oracles ODBC driver v8.1.7.5.0
and experienced more problems. We had problems just bring up our data entry pages. In either case, we are returned with some 505 errors in our browser, problems with the ASP pages and IIS, the page is not displaying.
If anyone has some suggestions on how to fix my problem, please advise. Thanks in advance.

Entity Framework - unable to select the oracle data connection

Entity Framework - unable to select the oracle data connection from the wizard that allows you to select the data provider. Even though we successfully added a data connection that points to an oracle database, we still can't select an existing data connection or create a new database provider that points to an oracle instance.
we are using both vs 2008 sp1 and vs 2010. We connect to oracle 11g and we use the latest oracle odp.net driver. the Driver is installed and working in vs studio.

I had this exact problem when I started. I think I had downloaded the wrong odbc (the 64x version). When I unloaded that version and downloaded the 32bit version it worked.

Does Informatica 7.1 work with Oracle 10g?

I have Oracle 10g (10.2.0.1.0) and I just installed Informatica 7.1. While creating a new repository in Informatica Repository Admin Console, I am getting error as:
"Unable to create the repository content. Make sure that the database connection and the license keys are correct. Check the activity log for more details."
I confirmed that the license keys are correct. The database connection is also good as I could connect using the same username/password in SQLPlus. The activity log says:
WARNING : RS_39204 [Mon Mar 22 15:05:38 2010] : (5160|5392) Bad config file [Config\infrepo-es.cfg]. Has it been manually named and placed in the Config directory? The expected name is [Config\_Yrepository_0name_Z-es.cfg].
ERROR : RS_39194 [Mon Mar 22 15:51:52 2010] : (5160|5568) Failure in running command-line request type[100401] [pmrepagent create -r "Info_Repo" -t "Oracle" -u infrep -c orcl -d "MS1252" -h sathe-3766a91ad -o 9999 -a Info_0Repo-es.lic -H "sathe-3766a91ad" -O 5001 -K 2082340862]. Error is [An error occurred while creating the repository.
I did not change anything manually,as it says in the warning. I have no idea what the error says.
My friend has Oracle 9i and he do not get any error like this. So does Informatica 7.1 works with Oracle 10g ?

Hi,
I found that with Oracle 10g you have to grant all DBA privileges to the repository user. This is not needed in Oracle 9i. Thats why I was getting error.
Now it works fine.

Try removing then reinserting the SIM card; it may just not be connecting fully. If that doesn't work, the SIM card may be corrupt (it happens), and you can get a new one at no charge at a Verizon corporate store, or by calling customer service (800) 922-0204.
