Workaround Bonjour: Unknown error: 0 in xterm

I've switched from iTerm to xterm due to an attempt to conserve CPU cycles. In the process of which (I run zsh) I'm getting a new error after xterm successfully launches (when X11 launches, as a startup process)
Workaround Bonjour: Unknown error: 0
The system and console log are not reporting any errors. Any ideas on what this is?

I saw the same error after I updated to 10.4.7 and started Terminal for the first time. I did not see it after I quit Terminal and restarted it.

what's with this? does it matter? does Apple know about this? what would be the

    Hi MacPeter,
It's a known bug, happens to everyone and is harmless. I don't know if it's been filed.

  • Problems with TFPT on OS X Tiger (Workaround Bonjour error)

Hello, I'm trying to update the firmware in my DCM-202 modem via TFTP and I keep getting an error "Workaround Bonjour Unknown Error 0". This occurs when I enter the following command lines in the terminal
    sudo service tftp start
    sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/tftp.plist
The rest of the process seems to work (files copy to private/tftpboot, telnet opens modem), however when I try to
    dload 192.168.100.2 Hitr252.bin
I get the error that the file was not able to be downloaded, that there is an error of some sort. Can this be attributed to the Workaround Bonjour error? Thanks for any help.

I think it's harmless on the Bonjour Error...

So, I'm gonna guess it's something else.

  • In terminal -- Workaround Bonjour ?

Every once in awhile (maybe twice a month) for the past several months I've been getting the following error at the terminal.
    "Workaround Bonjour: Unknown error: 0"
Not sure what brings this on. The most recent one was after doing "cd desktop"
    in context it was:
    jbird-doe-powerbook-g4-17:~ Jbird$ cd desktop
    jbird-doe-powerbook-g4-17:~/desktop Jbird$ Workaround Bonjour: Unknown error: 0
after hitting enter It returns to the normal prompt (xxx:~Name$ )

I saw the same error after I updated to 10.4.7 and started Terminal for the first time. I did not see it after I quit Terminal and restarted it.

  • Workaround for OCR "Unknown Error"/"Paper Capture recognition service experienced an error"

    Problem Description:
When attempting to "Recognize Text", one of the following error messages appears:
"Unknown Error." when using one of the "Searchable Image" or "Searchable Image (Exact)" settings, or
"Unable to process the page because the Paper Capture recognition service experienced an error. (6)" when using the "ClearScan" setting.
    Problem Origin:
It seems to be a compatibility issue in the PDF and not in the OCR algorithm itself, although this is speculation and not an official statement.
    Problem Workaround:
A possible solution consists of saving the afflicted PDF pages as PNG images (lossless), opening the PNGs in Acrobat, and then performing OCR. Specifically,
Page Thumbnails -> Right-click afflicted pages -> Extract Pages...
    File -> Open extracted pages
File -> Save as -> Image -> PNG
Right-click PNG files -> Convert to Adobe PDF
Tools -> Recognize Text -> In This File
    File -> Open original PDF
Page Thumbnails -> Right-click afflicted pages -> Replace Pages...
This has worked for every problem instance that I've come across, and there appears to be no quality loss. If anyone else can verify this solution, I would appreciate it.

Attempt to run Acrobat 9.5.3 OCR on MacBook Pro under Snow Leopard generates the error message:
Acrobat could not perform recognition (OCR) because:
Unable to process the page because the Paper Capture recognition service experienced and error. (17)
Ignore future errors in this document.
Login as Administrator, launch Acrobat, open one page PDF document without OCR, ..., OCR successful, close document, note additional warning message:
       Suit Product Activation Needed
Adobe Acrobat was installed as part of a suite.  To enable Adobe Acrobat, please start another component of this suite (such as Adobe Photoshop).
Switch back to user account, quit and relaunch Acrobat and OCR works fine.
Looking back at my records I see that I ran into the same error on 11/11/11 probably under Acrobat 9.4.6, but I didn't record the fix.

  • My workaround for "An unknown error occured (-36)"

I have a fairly new iPod Shuffle, running Win 2000 SP4, iTunes 4.7.1.30, and apart from the first time after (re)installing the iPod Setup software, every time (without fail) I plug my Shuffle into my computer and try to transfer songs onto/off it, I would get the error message:
    "An unknown error occured (-36)"
And nothing would happen. I used it at work on my Mac with no problem, so was sure it wasn't the Shuffle. I don't have any space on the Shuffle allocated to filestorage (doing so might actually solve the problem - untested).
After reading some threads here and other places, I did some experimenting, and came up with this really simple work around which has worked for me without fail!
    1. Don't have iTunes running. You need to beat it.
    2. When you plug in your Shuffle, quickly go into Windows Explorer, and you will see (might need to refresh F5) a new removable disk appears. Double click it as soon as you can. That's all you need to do. Normally iTunes would hide it again (since I guess it knows I am not using it for Filestorage). And of course normally I then just get the error message.
    4. But now, I can use my Shuffle every time with no problems. The Removable Disk remains visible in Windows Explorer.
I am guessing it is the dismounting of the drive by iTunes that causes Windows some problems.
Incidently, you can do the same thing on the Mac, opening the Shuffle in the Finder when it first appears, and this also prevents iTunes from dismounting it. But I had no problems on the Mac.
Edit: I am using iPod Updater 12-10-2005, iPod Shuffle software 1.1.2

  • Tried to update my iPad  OS from iTunes. Frozen and got an "unknown error msg". I tried to restore the iPad to factory settings..got the same

I bought today a new iPad from Rideau Store. The setup guys didn't update to latest software version. I tried to do myself trough iTunes, which notify me that an upgrade is available. After a while the upgrading process froze with a msg "unknown error ..". I clicked on the More  info  button and I got a page saying "due to a scheduled upgrade of Apple's support system some feature are not available.
The bottom line is that now the iTunes does detect the iPad being in recovering mode and asks to restore it to fabrics defaults. I tried to do this and again I got aqn "unknown error"
Finally I run the iTunes diagnostics to check the connectivity between my iPad and my HP laptop (iTunes). For unknown reson the iTunes does not detect my iPad. See below the diagnostics log:

That error can happen for many reasons...one of the reasons that I occassionaly get it is because I try exporting a movie to an external drive that has been formated in the old FAT32 instead of the NTSF standard.  FAT32 only allows for file sizes up to 2 gigs.  And as soon as it reaches that...I would get that error.  I don't know if that is why you are getting that error...but it would be easy to check.  1) are you generating a file that is over 2 gigs?  2) is your drive that you are exporting to FAT 32 (just right click the drive in My Computer and select "properties" then just look for what it says next to "file system".

  • PLEASE HELP!  Keep getting Unknown error (13019) since OS4 load!

    Hi,
I've seen the TS2830 and tried EVERY solution including making a new account on my system and still can't sync my iPhone. As a last resort I unselected Sync Music and wiped everything off the iPhone now I can't get it back!!!! AAHHH! I tried only syncing part of my library and still does not work. • The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (-50)

Today, I downloaded the latest version of Itunes.
When it finished installing it came up with the following error:
"iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 127)". I have uninstalled iTunes, and all related Apple software and re-installed iTunes several times and still I get the same error.
I contacted Apple support and was sent two emails. One detailing what needed to be uninstalled and then a web site to go to where I could download and install Microsoft's latest .NET Framework, which apparently was the root cause of the problem.
I did as instructed:Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
    1.iTunes
    2.QuickTime
    3.Apple Software Update
    4.Apple Mobile Device Support
    5.Bonjour
6.Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later).
Restarted the PC and then downloaded the latest version of Microsoft's .NET Framework - version 4.
Restarted the PC again and received a strange message from some Apple application I have never heard of stating "CoreFoundation.dll file is missing".
I GOOGLEd the message and found out I also needed to unistall another Apple application called MobileMe. So, I did this and restarted the PC again!
I then downloaded the latest version of iTunes, again.
Now I'm getting "The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (-50).
From checking through GOOGLE, I believe it's something to do with user accounts and iTunes not being able to find the music folder???? But the answers I found all relate to Windows 64 pit PC's.
I am running Windows 7, 32 bit on a Sony Vaio laptop.
I cannot get support from Apple as I don't own a MAC. But I do own an iPhone but it's out of warranty.
    HELP !!!!
    Can anybody please help me?
    Thx

If you go to the web page "http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923" and follow the "Verify iTunes and related components are completely uninstalled" it does the trick. There are few other folders and files that alos need to be deleted!
    iTunes is now working.

    Hi,
I faced exactly the same problem: some resources try to connect to My Tasks, and get an Unknown error. No error message in ULS or Eventlog.
I hope I solved the problem, and want to share the experience here.
    First, by reading this article,
http://www.projectserverexperts.com/ProjectServerFAQKnowledgeBase/Unknown%20Error%20My%20Tasks%20Page.aspx: even if the SQL Query returns me no records, it gives me the idea to delete (unpublish) some tasks (i managed to identify some tasks which raised
the problem, by assigning a test account on them, and see that the pb happened).
So I decided to delete my project from the Published Database (and keep it in the Draft of course). Than in Project Pro, I opened and Published: the problem seem to be solved.
I don't know the root cause of the pb: maybe some SQL data were corrupted for an unknown reason.
Hope it could help some one ! Don't hesitate to give feedback if you solved this pb with this solution, or workaround.

I am seeing a very similar output trying to make a netrestore image of a 10.8.4 Macbook Air on a 10.8.4 Mac Mini running OSX Server.  Gets to 84% and then shows the -1 progress and then just hangs until I cancel it (I haven't tried leaving it over night but left it that way for hours).
Did you ever figure out what was going on or have a workaround to create an image?
    Thanks!

  • Error occurred while converting the file ".." An unknown error occurred -50

I've had a few tracks which seem to skip on my ipod but play perfectly fine on itunes.
As a result, I've been converting these tracks to ACC files; this has worked for a few files but for one particular album i get the following:
+error occurred while converting the file ".." An unknown error occurred -50+
I've tried renaming the files, I re-created my playlist but nothing works.
    Thanks in advance.

    *Skipping songs*
The iPod seems to fail to play all of the occasional track that iTunes, and indeed other PMPs, are happy to play. There is probably some minor technical error in the internal structure of the file which is normally ignored by other playback software but causes the Classic to bail out.
You may like to try scanning the files with MP3 Validator which can find & fix some internal MP3 errors.
Some users have also suggested that completely removing all id3 tags and then replacing the information can be a solution. This can be achieved in iTunes by selecting an affected track, right/option clicking and using the option Convert id3 tags > None. Since some files may mistakenly have more than one tag you may need to repeat this action. Once you have confirmed that no tag is present you can replace the tag information using Convert id3 tags > V2.3 (I believe it is recommended to avoid using V2.4).
Personally I have found files for which these solutions don't work. In this case the workaround is either to re-rip the tracks or get iTunes to re-encode the file, e.g. convert AAC to MP3 or vice versa and sync the newly encoded file to the iPod instead. Because transcoding will cause a loss of fidelity you should keep your original file so that if a future iPod firmware resolves this issue you can put your original files back onto the iPod.

  • Premiere CS6 Unknown Error in Rendering & Export

    Hello,
this is an ongoing problem that persisted on any version of Adobe Premiere Pro I worked with, including CS5,5.5 and the latest 6.
I am stuck with a feature film on a CS6 Timeline, getting an Unkown Error during rendering and Media Encoder exports.
I get the same error if I attampt to create a new trimmed project with Project Manager.
I am aware that this is one of the most common problems in this forum, and before opening a discussion I tried everithing I could:
    - Replace the media at the point of the error/crash (even though the error seems to happen randomly in dirrerent portions of the timeline)
    - Disable MPE
    - Reset Secutity and permission on files
    - change hard drive
    - Create a new sequence
    - Disable second monitor
I have to bring an export of my film and a new trimmed project by tomorrow to a color house and I am currently stuck.
I managed to render the entire timeline before exporting. Redering would stop randomly, generating the same "Unkown Error in Copiling Movie".
Although I rendered the entire timeline by creating different IN-OUT with the work area selection.
After a long and tetious rendering process I managed to have the entire timeline "green" and ready to go.
I figured that this way the exporting process would have been successful. Unfortunatelly not.
I switched to Premiere Pro for its ability to edit R3D media, but what's the point if we cannot export the project? And neither trimm it to a file that I can give to a colorist?
Here some details of my workstation and source media:
    - MacPro 12cores 64Gb ram
    - Internal 6Tb raid for source media
    - 4Tb Dulce Scratch drive
    - Editing 4K and 5K R3D Media natively
If anyone found a solution to this problem, please help.
    Thanks

    Hi Neonhigh,
If you are going to color correction, why do you need an output? Aren't they color correcting the native files?
I need an output as reference for the VFX department, I need an output for the sound designer, I need an output for the producer, I need an output for myself and to send to my girlfriend. The question I should ask you is, why shouldn't I need an output?
What's wrong by exporting my timeline in a format that is not r3d files for reference and production management?
I was talking about color correction only, as they usually only need the native files. Of course, an output would be necessary for all the other things you mentioned. Nothing wrong with that.
    Neonhigh wrote:
If you need an output for some reason, why are you rendering at all?
As I explained I simply rendered because the software was having several random "Unkown" problems in exporting. I though rendering and exporting a file matching the timeline settings would have solved those annoying Unkown Errors, giving me at list an export based on the render sttings.
Problem is that PPro CS6 fails also to render the timeline, and I needed to break the process in 30-40 segments in order to achieve a complete rendering.
Rendering in Premiere Pro is primarily for playback, and not necessary for output. In fact, it's a waste of time in most cases. Render files are typically not used for an output unless you explicitly want to do so. Typically they are lower resolution "preview" files that you don't want to use.
Regardless, you should have no trouble rendering sections of your Timeline. Are you updated to Premiere Pro CS6 (6.0.2)?
Can you try an export without rendering?
I wish PPro CS6 was reliable enough to allow me to simply export.
I still did not solve the problem. Several people from the redusers forum are trying to help me as and they all ran into the same issue.
    Currently this are the issues:
    - PPro does not render the entire timeline
I'm trying a test project right now and so far it is rendering OK. Can you point me to the reduser forum post where people were giving you assistance?
    - does not output the entire timeline (if not chopping it in 12-15 parts)
I'll test that, as well. You should not have to segment the sequence in order to get an export.
    - Project Manager does not trim the project to pass it to over post prod facilities.
Sorry, the Project Manager will not consolidate every media type. It will copy, however. This would be a feature request or bug report: http://www.adobe.com/go/wish
Beside questioning me with why I want to render or export my project,
Not questioning your capabilities or talents, I just wanted to know what you wanted to do, and why. Typically, most people don't render as much in Premiere Pro as they do in other NLEs and I was wondering why you needed an export to go to color correction. That's all.
Many users in this forum (as well as on the entire internet) experienced th same Unkown Problem:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4661398
There could be many different variables which can cause that error. The troubleshooting doc you found addresses many of those. I will add the "Unknown Error" warning to the document.
There is no "single fix" for this problem, I'm afraid, and these are our opinions and solutions on the matter.
A legitimate gripe would be that the error is too generic, and I would agree with you there. The error should contain more details about how to remedy your issue. Please make a feature request for more descriptive error dialog boxes: http://www.adobe.com/go/wish
I will also mention it to the product team.
I understand that, being an "Unkown Errror" Adobe does not have a iniversal fix, but please don't ask me why I want to output my timeline.
Again, I was only asking in the context of color correction. Of course, you want an output for various reasons.
I've written up your bad experience in my case notes and I'll do my best to get you some better answers to your questions. You definitely should not have to jump through hoops to render or export a .R3D sequence.

Here is a temporary fix for who runs into this problem:
Yesterday, after trying everything I could think of I simply exported an XML, opened it in Final Cut Pro and exported all the files and formats that I needed. No Unknown Errors.
Thanks for the workaround. I'll add it to my notes.
