[workarounded] no device found after installation
I just installed arch on a dell inspiron R (came with windows 8, now erased from the hd) from a USB uefi image. Everything went well (so it seemed) but after rebooting i only get a "check media [failed]" and "no bootable device found". I alredy reinstalled everything the second time, just to be sure.
Since i got no errors of sort during the installation process I have no idea where to look. Is there something I can do from the uefi shell to see where the problem is?

I followed the beginner guide:
1) created 3 partition (efi,root,home)
2) installed the base system
3) installed efistub (installation went well, but it didn't boot)
3b) removed efistub and installed grub2 (installation went well, no errors, but it still didn't boot)
4) restarted the entire installation process, this time installing grub2 first, again no errors and no
boot.
In the bios setup (or whatever is called now) I have three options:
1) legacy boot mode
2) uefi boot without secure boot
3) uefi boot with secure boot.
I'm using the second.

Problem Description:
Yesterday I updated my laptop's BIOS to F 5A - latest available on HP Website. Since then I have lost the bluetooth functionality, which was wroking just fine prior to the update. Now the system doesn't find a bluetooth device.
What I have already done:
1. Switched back to previous versions of BIOS (available on HP Website coz I didn't note the BIOS version before I updated it). - That didn't work.
2. Reseated the wireless card - Didn't work.
3. Manually checked the connection of bluetooth module to the motherboard - Connection was fine but it still didn't work.
4. Uninstalled the bluetooth driver and reinstalled it (HP integrated module WIDCOM) - still didn't work
5. Installed HP Wireless Agent - Didn't work
6. Installed HP Integrated module driver along with HP Wireless Agent - Didn't work
7. Installed Ubuntu to check if its recognizing the device - Even its not recognizing the device which it used to do earlier.
8. Sadly there's no BIOS setting in Setup which I can change to correct the bluetooth behaviour (Phoenix BIOS with limited interface).
After all the research, I am posting this because I am unable to find a sloution to this problem on my own. I request the members to please help.
UdayI got the bluetooth working. Had to dismantle the laptop and found that a small switch was loose.

SAP HR patch Ecc6.0 Ehp4 not found after installation
Hi,
I have installed Ecc 6.0 Ehp7 but after installation i found SAPHR Patches on SAPHR6.0 .(SAPKE600)
WAnt SAPHR patches on Ehp4.
Is there any way which i can do at time of installtion only?
Now i have to create xml stack file from Solman for upgradation to SAPKE604?
Kindly suggest
Regards
AdilHi Adil,
After the installation ECC 6.0 EHP 7 , the base component will be at 600.since ECC 6.0 EHP7 is coming as a ready phase installation.
You need to upgrade all the base coponenet 607 , with the help of SUM.
So you need to generate the stack and upgrade it.

No updatable devices found after firmware update
Unfortunately I didn't check here before doing the latest updates. I dl'd the following on the night of July 1:
2007-07-01 01:49:08 -0400: Installed "SuperDrive Firmware Update" (2.1)
2007-07-01 01:49:31 -0400: Installed "iTunes" (7.3)
2007-07-01 01:49:35 -0400: Installed "Safari 3 Beta Update" (3.0.2)
2007-07-01 01:53:02 -0400: Installed "Mac OS X Update (Intel)" (10.4.10)
2007-07-03 00:30:01 -0400: Installed "Audio Update 2007-001" (1.0)
Since then each time I restart the computer the SuperDrive Update launches and tells me no updatable devices have been found. But this machine has a SD, unless I'm very much mistaken. Why won't the update take? Is it related to the ex HD issues I've been reading about here with 10.4.10?
I also just looked at my sys log and it could be its own novel since these updates. I was going to post it in hopes it would help the Mac guys smarter than I, but I think it would flood out this post.
I am also having the internet drop issue, again only when I'm on battery power, but I understand that's a bigger issue than just my machine. My Safari windows seem to be hanging and giving me the spinning beach-ball a lot when I try to scroll.
I ran disk repair on permissions, that's all sorted out. I don't know what else to do to resolve the firmware update. Please help. Thanks! At the risk of sounding stupid.. how would I delete the download?
And if I have a SuperDrive, which I do, why wouldn't the update apply to me and why would Software Updater have prompted me to download it in the first place? -
HP officejet pro 8600 "not found" after installation on Dell laptop with Windows 7 op syst
downloaded software from internet and it shows that it's been installed on computer. Printer is on and shows that it is connected to the network. Networks match on computer and printer. Printer not printing from computer but did from my phone. "printer not found" message comes up during connection process on the instal wizard. I am using a Linksys wireless broadband router. I've tried all the troubleshooters and found that there was a driver error, but I don't know how to correct this.
Hey @mech3320 ,
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to ask that question on the HP Forums today!
I understand that you are having some trouble with the driver download on your AMD chipset but not your Intel one.
I recommend that you try the web download of the drivers after you uninstall the ones that you tried form the CD.

Let me know if the web drivers work better for you or not.

DVD/CD unit not found after installation of Windows 8 PRO
After installing Windows 8 PRO I cannot play a dvd. The trouble seeker says: The hardware can not start due to damaged or incomplete config info in the register (code 19).
When searching for a new driver I'm told that I have the latest one. I read on Microsoft support that a similar problem occured on installing Vista, but the solution should not be applied on this installation.
What else is to do about this problem?> After installing Windows 8 PRO I cannot play a dvd. The trouble seeker says: The hardware can not start due to damaged or incomplete config info in the register (code 19).
If you would use the Toshiba forums Advantage search option, then you would find this info:
http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/bulletinDetail.jsp?pf=true&soid=3516888
+If the TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator or TOSHIBA Disc Creator are installed on the HDD, there might be a issue between Win 8 and mentioned software+
+So uninstall these tools, then restart your PC using the Power-->Restart option in Windows 8. Your CD/DVD should be accessible now.+ -
[SOLVED] No operating system found after installation
Hey there,
I'm new to Arch, I switched from Ubuntu and I'm willing to give Arch a fair try. My system is now more or less up and running and I'm very excited.
However, I can only boot with the CD inserted and by choosing "Boot existing OS". If I remove the CD, I cannot boot because no OS is found on the harddisk.
I tried running "grub-install /dev/sda" again, but that didn't work.
I installed using "gdisk". My main system partition is encrypted, but /boot is not encrypted. I used a simple partition layout with LUKS, no LVM. I tried to find my error on the Installation Guide and the Beginners Guide, but I can't figure out what I did wrong...
Help would be much appreciated. Let me know if you use further information.
Thanks in advance
Jonas

For UEFI, you need an EFI System Partition. You don't need the BIOS boot partition.
Oh, and the installation CD needs to have been booted in UEFI mode as well. UEFI systems generally support both UEFI booting and legacy BIOS emulation. If you boot in BIOS mode, GRUB won't be able to install properly. You can run your whole setup in BIOS emulation mode if you don't particularly care for UEFI, but then using a legacy MSDOS partition table would perhaps be preferrable over GPT. (Or so the Wiki says.)
As for "booting in UEFI mode" -- when I start my system up, I can press F11 to bring up a selection of where to boot from. Your key is likely going to vary, but the important bit is that -- on my computer at least -- it shows me two very similar entries for the Arch CD -- except one has "UEFI: " prepended to it -- that's the one I use to boot in UEFI mode. Your mileage is going to vary, but hopefully it'll be somewhat similar.
I found an option in my BIOS to enable UEFI, but it is disabled by default. I find it quite strange that I have to enable this in order to make my installation work, as I never did this with Ubuntu. If I enable the third option (see pic), then I can boot the CD in UEFI mode. So that works. My question now is: Can I fix my installation or do I have to reinstall the entire system? I read in the wiki that the UEFI system partition has to be FAT32 and there is a minimal size of 256MB. However, my current boot partition is only 200MB. So I cant just reformat my old boot partition, or am I wrong?

Live Type was working ok, until gradually start loosing templates, live text animations and finally the aplication file just disapeared from the computer. So I reinstalled from the original FCP HD 4.5 but I still cannot find it. After reinstallation a message "software has been installed succesfully" appears. Im I doing someting wrong?. Ad'l info: using Os panther 10.3.9, G4 tower, 1.25 gb sdram. Help will be greatly apreciated. Oh... someone sugested to use spotlight, but my current OS doesn't have this option.

This is too weird to be lightly dismissed. You've got to figure out how non-user items can disappear. They shouldn't. You could be writing over that space on your drive but even that is so unlikely as to be really scary.
You don't need spotlight, just use the normal Find functions and search for LiveType. You can also search for files that have been recently added. The media files are quite large s you can also search for recently added big files.

Since installing Lion on my MacBook Air, I get no sound and ITunes playback doesn't move. The Sound Preference pane states "No output devices found." The Bluetooth connection to a WiFi speaker works, so it must be a software problem. Anyone?
For sound, try the audio output port and connecting to the RCA audio input ports on your Pioneer receiver. Use something like this:

After install it just says "No bootable device found" [SOLVED]
I have been trying (several times now) to install Arch Linux. After the install, it just showed the message "No bootable device found".
I have already asked for a solution here, but until now no one could really help me.
I will paste my text from the other site here, to explain exactly my situation:
I've been trying to install Arch Linux. After the installation, it shows the BIOS screen and after that there just comes a message that says "No bootable device found".
I have retried the whole scenario now some times, still it just shows the same message...
At installing, I have followed the Unofficial Beginner's Guide from the ArchLinux wiki.
Here is what I did:
First of all, I wiped the hard drive (on which before the wipe was Windows Vista installed) and put GPT on it by using gdisk. Then I set up some partitions, which now look as the following (output of parted):
Model: ATA ST9160310AS (scsi)
Disk /dev/sda: 160GB
Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B
Partition Table: gpt
Disk Flags:
Number Start End Size File system Name Flags
1 1049kB 2097kB 1049kB BIOS boot partition bios_grub
2 2097kB 107MB 105MB ext2 Linux filesystem
3 107MB 21.6GB 21.5GB ext4 Linux filesystem
4 21.6GB 30.2GB 8590MB linux-swap(v1) Linux swap
5 30.2GB 160GB 130GB ext4 Linux filesystem
Then I mounted the root partition (sda2) to /mnt, after that also the boot and the home partition (sda3 and sda5) to /mnt/boot and /mnt/home and at the end formatted and activated the swap partition (sda4).
Now I began installing the base system. After selecting the mirrors, I installed base and base-devel.
At the end of the install I generated an fstab.
Then I finally chrooted into /mnt, set up some Locales, set a root password and then installed and configured Grub2, exactly as it is explained here.
At the end I exited from the chroot environment, unmounted the partitions and rebooted. You know the rest... It just showed the message that it coudn't find any bootable devices.
By the way, I tried to install it on this computer.
Hopefully someone finds out what I did wrong, thanks in advance!

@Scimmia: I will try this out tomorrow, I don't have enough time to do it now. -
After installing Mountain Lion. No sound. Under sound, where it says select an output device, it says no output devices found, and there is no sound. How do I fix this? I have reinstalled the os twice and still the same. I have also repaired permissions.
Try resetting the PRAM and SMC...

No Devices Found (Input and Output) After 10.9.3 Update
Hi,
I just update my Macbook Air (Mid 2013) to 10.9.3. After I finsih updating, I got a problem of no sound at all. Also when I check on System Preferences it shows that "No (Input/Output) device found".
When I try changing the volume using the volume control key on my keboard it shows this image,
I already tried doing some audio bug "fix" trick like reboot, deleting BezelService Preference File, and reset PRAM. However, nothing work.
I am not sure whether I have to reinstall just the audio driver or anything. Audio bug has always been an issue for me since I update to Mavericks.
Could anyone help?
Thanks!Hey Tetsukara,
Thanks for the question. It looks like you have already done some great troubleshooting on this issue. I would recommend following the steps in this resource:

Help!! Kernel panics after installation!!
Hi,
I am new to Arch Linux (migrating from Fedora). I am having some problems with the installation on my Sony VAIO CW (C2D, Nvidia GT230M). At first I couldn't get past the installation of X in the Beginner's guide, but after some tweaking with conf files I finally got it to work. But after reboot, kernel panic occured. This started happening intermittently from there onwards. Then I tried to install GNOME which failed miserably as in it panics and crashes everytime system starts.
Then I tried KDE and things are much better compared to GNOME. The problem is whenever I try logging into a new KDE session, kernel panics. Only KDE Failsafe mode works (with sound). I honestly dont know what to do as I have no idea why the problem is occuring also. I plan to stay with Arch, as nouveau works much better than it used to in Fedora (3d support). Can anybody help with this issue?

TV no longer connects to wireless internet after installation of Airport Time Capsule
TV no longer connects to wireless Wi-Fi internet after installation of AirPort Time Capsule.
I am having a similar problem with a new TIme Capsule. The wifi on the Time Capsule was working fine for months with all devices, iPhone 4s, iPad Air, iMac Air, Mac mini, and vizio smart TVs. After a recent software update the Time capsule wifi no longer connects to the smart tvs or the iPhones. It still connects to the mac mini, iPad and iMac Air. I do NOT think the software update timing was just coincidental. But I have not found any information or other users confirming a similar problem on the Apple support site.

I downloaded the new Itunes version. During installation, there was an error message that said no Mobile access. After installation, Itunes would not open. Gave an error message that a DLL file was not found. Removed itunes from computer and initiated new download. Same problem with new download. Still does not open. I'm stumped. I have over 30,000 files in itunes and use it every day HELP
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
