Workbench Transport Request

Hi Experts,
Just a quick and easy question for you guys, we have option to create workbench transport request and we didn't want to create workbench request at that time, we just want to save it as a local object. We have this opportunity in so many places for example when we create transaction variant through SHD0, or creating or assigning auth group through SE54 .and so on...
My question is if we save it as a local object and later on we need to transport the same object to QA how should we go about it because I don't see any transport option in SHD0 after we missed the workbench transport request in the first place and save it as a local object.

IMO you should assign objects to the correct package when you create them, and release the transport request when you think it is ready for being tested.
Of course there are organizational aspects as well, such as development co-ordinators who should know when an object should be ready and check that it is and in which sequence the transports should go in, etc.
For that you can also use Projects in the CTS and couple them with the config (tcode SPRO_ADMIN).

Yes its true. Its not recommended to do transport between system having different releases.

Easy Enhacement Workbench - Transport request going in error

Hi All,
I have created a Date Field from EEW. This date field is used for CRM Business Activities. I have used the Wizard for creating this date field. I wanted the Date field to be relevant for BW so marked it accordingly.
I have transported both the requests (Customizing and Workbench). The workbench request got transported with error - Method Execution - for ACTIVITY_OBJECT. So we created a new project and activated the objects using Tcode GN_START. The second transport was completed with warning -
Field name FROM is reserved (Do not use structure as include in DB table)
When I go to the Test client, I see that the Customer Field Tab Page is available but the "Date" field is not there on the tab.
Is there something I have missed out that prevents the "Date" Field from transporting to the Test Client?

I found the solution. Hope it helps those who need it.
Issue - Could not view fields generated thru EEWB even after transports were successful
solution - go to Tcode EEWC - map the systems.
System Type      CRM System
System Role      Development System
Description      enter the system desc
Logical system   enter your logical system     Destination
SAP R/3 Release
Namespace        Z
Short Namespace Z
with the correct mapping you will be able to see the fields

Create a workbench transport request in se09 and double click on it, system opens request/task screen , go to objects tab add program id as 'R3TR' object type as 'TABU' object name as table name (ex: ZTABLE) and click on the function button , put '*' in table keys and save the request.
now transport this request , table entries will be transported to respective systems .

Derivation Rule - Workbench Transport

We are trying to create derivation rule through transaction KEDR without any values. After creating derivation rule, it is creating workbench transport request eventhough K9RE* table is client dependent.
We have different transport routes/groups for customizing and workbench. SAP Layer is assinged to workbench transport group with one another Z* layer.
When we are trying to create request it is creating workbench transport request eventhough it is client dependent. It is using KEG0 package which is assinged to SAP layer.
Workbench transport are not going to all clients and we have to move request manually to other clients.
What should we do for changing this behaviour?

I thing previous post with was not detailed enough. Please see below.
We have created two different transport group for differentiating
customizing and workbench transport request.
ZECD layer is assigned to /CUST/ group where as ZWBK and SAP layer is
assinged to /WRKB/ group.
We are moving all client independent transports (assigned to /WRKB/
group) to only 1 client in other systems.
While creating derivation rule through transaction KEDR, it is not
allowing us to assing /CUST/ group eventhough config is client dependent.
It is using package KEG0 which is assinged to SAP layer and SAP layer isassinged to /WRKB/ group in our configuration.
The Derivation rule config is client dependent eventhough it is creatingworkbench request. We would like to know why it is creating workbench
request instead of customizing request.

How to create transport request for business function activation?

I activated LOG_MM_MAA_1 business function in development (DEV) system:
Component: SAP_APPL
Release: 604
Level: 0006
SP: SAPKH60406
I want to transport the activation to quality (QAS) system.
In SFW5 transaction --> System Settings --> Transport only generated a workbench transport request with "Status Tables Switch Framework Client-Independent" (Object type = SF02, Object = A)
Is this the only object to transport?
Is the activation of business function should be direct in QAS system?

Yes.
The "after import" method during the transport will activate the BF as it did in the original system.

Clubing transport requests together

Hi Experts,
We are in a peculiar situation.
I have one workbench transport request (already released & moved to R/3 test environment)
I have one customizing transport request (which I will create) in R/3 DEV environment.
Is there any way I can club these two requests together to form a single transport request which I can push in Prod.
Any thoughts will be most welcomed & rewarded with points.

I am sorry, I tried the reverse (I merged Customizing Request with Workbench request). When I tried to merge WOrkbench with Cust, I got the error that you said. Maybe you can see if its possible to use the other way.
Release your Customizing Request.
Create a new Workbench Request.
Merge the old released Workbench Request into new one.
THen, again, merge the Customizing Request to new one.
THen, you will be good to go.

How to create second transport request for same programe

Hello ,
I created workbench transport request. The changes are done and still in development system.
Now I have to do another change on the same program that has to be in different transport request,
but whenever I change something, and activate it, the changes are saved in first transport. How I can
create another transport request for the same program without releasing the first one.

Ask your basis team to provide you with a "Transport of Copies" request.
Once you get it, add your object in this request and transport. your object will be transported and the original request will not be released. Do note that the changes will still be saved in the original request but you can still transport your object without releasing the original request.

How to add object back to transport request?

I deleted a function module from a workbench transport request. Now, I would like to add it back to this transport request. How can I do this? When I go to the include objects on the transport organizer, I do not see an option for selection function modules to be added back.

Hi Ram,
Object status locked means that the same object can not be added in another request.
The objects will be locked automatically when change/ create a object.
But in your case since you have manually added the object in TR, so you have lock to manually.
For that In SE10 itself select the request and goto request/task>object list> Lock.
It will lock the object.

Retrieve version of object from transport request

hi,
I deleted my report program from a modifiable workbench transport request.
Now I want to retreive the version of program associated with this transport.
Can I do that ? (this version is not available in version mgmt of the report)

Copy Transport Request (customizing-workbench) between different systems

Hello guys !
I have a question.
I can copy transport request of customizing and workbench from ECC 6.0 system to another ECC 6.0, with the same levels of support packages and patch realease, but one of the systems in Windows and another in AIX?. The database is the same: oracle.

You can very well copy the request. Different OS platforms won't make any difference.

Transport Request - saving objects in workbench request

Output of my Report is ALV. In that I have One button in the application toolbar and I have checkbox as a column to select the displayed entries. If I select that button the selected entry( in my case 'Role') has to be saved under a customizing request'.
    In my case it is saving the object under 'WORKBENCH Request'.
Is there any Function module to do this .
    I have used 'TR_REQUEST_CHOICE' fn module to get that create request pop up screen and for appending entries I have used 'TRINT_APPEND_TO_COMM_ARRAYS'.(IT is saving the object under WORKBENCH ReQUEST, But I need it in CUSTOMIZING REQUEST)

The mass transport function in the profilgenerator (PFCD) is executed using report <b>PFCG_MASS_TRANSPORT.</b>
For a single role you could directly use function module
CALL FUNCTION 'PRGN_TREE_HANDLE_UCOMM_NAVIGAT'
    EXPORTING
      okcode             =' TRAN'                  " transport role
      agr_name_neu       = <name of role>.
Since you would like to put multiple roles into a single transport request you can do the following:
SUBMIT pfcg_mass_transport
        with agr_name ... = <list of roles as range>
        with comp_rol ...   = <with or without composite roles>
        with profiles ...      = <with or without profiles>
AND RETURN.

I am need of a procedure to find out all the transport requests (Workbench or Cusomizing) created on a particular Computer based on its IP address or the Host name ...
Or In other words....
If there are multiple users(>20) using the same Development USER ID and PASSWORD (Say SAPDEV)... How can I track which person has created a particular request based upon the person's PC IP address or Hostname ?

How to add Objects to transport request through FM/BAPI?

Hi All,
I am creating a workbench request through program. I am able to create it by using BAPI but i am unable to add objects to it through program.
Can anybody tell me the funcion module/bapi to add object to transport request?
i have the list of objects that are suppose to be added.
No BDC please.

Hi,
You need to create a Workbench TR request in SE09. Go to the detailed screen of the transport. Go to change mode. In the objects tab, you can see a table for the object details. click on the ADD button. Give the Program ID as R3TR. Object ID depends on the object type. You can find the list of values in F4. In the object name, give your object name. Select that entry and click on the LOCK button.
The object will be locked under the TR.
