Workbook broadcast with filter

Hi all,
when broadcasting workbooks users loose all filters set in the workbook.
E.g. a workbook where you have filtered on one sales organisation will broadcast with all sales organisations. When you open the workbook in BEx Analyzer and refresh it the filter will remain.
Please note that I don't mean variable values.
In 3.5 this was possible, in 7.0 it is not working anymore.
This is not a very good solution for our users.
Any idea?
Thanks
Stefan

The broadcaster uses precalculation server. Before the broadcasting, the query is re-calculated.
If the filter was made during query navigation - it will not remain effective for the broadcaster.
In order to filter an InfoObject in a query, you will have to use a "ready for input" variable.
In the broadcaster (web screen), at the query setting, under Pre-calculation tab - enter the relevant values of the Variable. This will send the workbook filtered according to you needs.
Hope it helps

  • Which Luma/Chroma mode to use with Broadcast Safe filter

How would I know which Luma/Chroma mode to use with the Broadcast Safe filter? I'm creating a DVD of a dance concert that might make it onto television but there are no specific plans at this time.

As you read their tech specs, you'll see that broadcast standards cover a lot more than just luma levels.
    (There's also content! http://www.pbs.org/aboutpbs/aboutpbs_standards.html)
You may want to read the technical standards carefully so that you don't have to
redo a lot of work if you decide to submit.

  • Broadcast safe filter for DVD - or no need?

I'm getting a bit confused here and hoping someone can help here
I shoot with an EX camera and generally edit in 720 50p prores. My output is currently SD DVD and web.
Do I need to put a broadcast safe filter on or will the process of turning it into a dvd automatically clamp the levels for me.
I notice when using Colorista 2 the RGB levels are clamped at 100%.
If I were to use the FCP RGB limit filter would I achieve the same result
(I don't always like the broadcast safe filter as it gradually reduces the luma - Hard cut off is fine)
I think most people will watch my dvds on new HD LCDs or Plasmas. So I'm not too concerned about old CRTs.
    Any thoughts or advice
    Thanks steve

The company I go to for mastering suggests the RGB limit filter for dodgy shots and not the "broadcast safe" one, and I listen to them. By the way, I've been going there for years here in LA and Greg, the boss, will always "work with you" on price if you are an independent. I can give you the phone number if you wish. They are very helpful but I think it's kind of against the rules to give the appearance of advertising on this site.
Private message me if you want further info etc.
    Best wishes,
    Harry.

  • Broadcast safe filter??

Hi all I have a question I have a delivery due friday of three shows the audio is all over the place, the delivery is broadcast, the only audio tool I have is soundtrack, does soundtrack have broadcast safe filter?
    Thanks

Yes, it is acceptable, AFTER you have done extensive work with the 3-way CC to adjust things, if there are still spots that are too hot to add teh Broadcast Safe filter. It clamps down the hot spots.
Just as long as you color correct first. We are sticklers for that here.

  • Does the Broadcast Colors filter work?  How to get a broadcast safe production?

    Hey guys ~
Have searched around a bit but haven't found much info on this subject.  One of my films just signed a distribution deal (go team) and I've been in the process of submitting my deliverables.  The company I've been assigned to for QC uses FCP7 for their preliminary check, and if that passes they send it on to a more rigorous test to ensure legal broadcast levels.
I'd like to keep everything in PP, but here's the deal.  I export my film with PP CC to a ProRes HQ file using the "Broadcast Colors" filter set to an IRE of 99 (just to be a touch on the safe side).  I was happy because I thought the final product looked even better and retained even more information than the Broadcast Safe filter in FCP. Only the catch is, when I import the final product from PP into FCP7 to see the results that they are going to see, there is a consistent "red" warning on contrasty shots... some are totally outside of the FCP7 broadcast safe scopes.
I've succumbed to jumping back to FCP7 to do the final on this just to make sure it will pass inspection, but I'm curious if anyone has had any experience with this? What's the correct way that I'm missing to use PP CC to make sure that you have a finished product that is safe to put on the airwaves?  Is the PP CC Broadcast Safe filter reliable for professional delivery specifications?
Thanks in advance for any help...

Is the PP CC Broadcast Safe filter reliable for professional delivery specifications?
I dont think it is flexible enough and never use it.
Simplest way is to apply Premiere 'Levels' effect.
You will note an "automatic" level clip at 100% and then its easy to set White RGB Out at say 250 and fix any Color Channel Luminance issue..the same way.
    Then of course..Blacks.
FWIW - I use an Adjustment Layer to do this usually across the entire sequence

  • Variable Assignment : Workbook broadcast

    Hi gurus,
We have been broadcasting 31 Inventory workbooks on a weekly basis for the past couple of months. The workbook is based on 1 inventory query which has a Cal Month and Store Location as mandatory variables. Obviously, while broadcasting the same, we should be able to set these variables in the Variable Assignment of the Workbook Precalculation Tab.
Earlier I was able to see them in the variable assignment assignment for this workbook. We havn't changed the query, no changes in the system, No changes at all. But now I am not able to see a single variable in the variable assignment except for this variable that says Tech.Cont.: Time Frame for which Data is Selected.
I am not sure where can I see the variants for this workbook. Anyways, we havn't mentioned any variants in the workbook precalculation tab. Please help me with this issue.
I executed the query and tried broadcasting the corresponding query, Here I am able to see the variable assignment. But not for the corresponding workbook. Creating all the settings right from the scratch for changing from workbook broadcast to query result broadcast would be a very tedious task which I don't want to undertake right now.
Can anyone please help me with this problem.
    Thanks & rgds,
    Sree

    Hi Murali,
Thanks for your answer and sorry wasn't able to respond early.
As I had mentioned, this problem didn't exist earlier. However, all of a sudden, we have started to face this issue. Global variants were never created because we are not using the option of VARIANTS, instead we use Variable Assignments. This has been the practice for the past many months, but all of sudden since last month, we started having this strange issue where we could'nt determine the variable assignment.
When know I click on the variable assignment create link, there is only one variable that appears in the screen "Tech.Cont.: Time Frame for which Data is Selected", I donot see any other variables. Earlier though, i was able to see all the other variables (Plant, division, etc).
Please let me know if you have any answer for this issue.
    Thnks & rgds,
    Sree

  • Broadcast safe filter settings

    Hello,
I applied the broadcast safe filter to a PNG file (logo) that has excessive whites. However, when I switch - what I believed were presets (130 / 120 / 115 / etc.) nothing changes and nothing happens at all actually!
The only thing that seems to do anything is when I dial the Max RGB Output level switch...

    Max_Iqueu wrote:
Yes. I am looking at the scopes and "nothing" is happening.
    Then the question rises:
What are the maximum values in the scope? If none of the levels is exceeding the 100 you don't have a problem.
Also the values (numbers in the filter) don't switch.
The values will not swith. The top button 'Luma Chroma Mode' swithes between
    • 'CUSTOM - User Control Below' Which will let YOU control the sliders
    • one of the presets (Conservative, Extremely conservative, etc) Then the plugin will use PRESET settings. It won't have a look at the sliders (iow, you cannot tweak a preset). Nor will it update the value of the sliders.
The language the plugin is written in (FxScript), just doesn't provide feedback to the sliders.
So it's either using one of the presets OR select CUSTOM and play with the sliders
I was wondering if it was due to the PNG file type? ...
No. .mov or .png it's all the same to the filter

  • How can I create a new excel workbook only with labview

    Hi everyone...

    Someone knows?

Create new WB with LV.vi ‏18 KB

You are not using the correct mechanism. Pull up the Example Finder in LabVIEW, click on the "Search" tab, and enter "Excel". Look for an example called "Write Table to XL". Use this as a starting point for creating new workbooks and adding data to it.
Note: on disk the example is at <LabVIEW install directory>\examples\comm\ExcelExamples.llb.

  • Schedule workbook using with Unix shell script

    Hi,
Can we schedule workbook using with Unix shell script?
    Thanks,
    Jay

    I can't imagine how.
    1. You can schedule Disco workbooks via Disco itself.
    2. You can schedule Disco workbooks to run and output in different file formats automatically via batch scheduler in Windows running Disco Desktop directly (or can user VBasic).
    3. You can schedule Disco workbooks to run and output in different file formats automatically via a Java program running the Java Command Line interface.
Moving forward, Oracle has announced that with a further interfacing of Disco with XML Publisher, you'll be able to use Oracle Apps concurrent manager and scheduling. But that's coming supposedly at the end of this year.
And I think that's about it.

    Hi all ,
I have a reg where the condition to be applied in ONE COLUMN of a report is as follows

    from (SELECT SUM(quantity),SUM(quantity_received) qty_rec ,SUM(quantity)-SUM(quantity_received) qty ,po_header_id

    Hi Chris,
    Thanks for ur response.
I tried usinf FILTER() function in different ways. But I had a comparison like
    FILTER("F1 Facts"."Total Revenue" USING (sum("PO"."Quantity") = sum("PO"."Quantity_Recieved") )) .
Here the error is like Cannot use aggregation with the USING clause .
I even tried with, Filter based on another request feature , it throws an error saying 'cannot use multiple select clause '
Any suggestions would be very helpful.

  • Customer Broadcasting - EMail Bursting Broadcast with hierarchy

    Hi,
At the moment I broadcast with the broadcast function email bursting to our customer. (single customer)
I maintained a mail adress for each customer.
Now we have a special demand.
I should broadcast to customer groups.
Customer Group is a special hierarchy level in our customer structure.
For example one customer group have 10 single customer.
So for example the customer from hierarchy level 2 should get a report with all customers in hierarchy level 3
Is it possible to work with hierarchies in the email bursting function ?
    Thanks
    thomas

    Hi Thomas,
Im not sure by hierachy group but you could so it by role.  So all customers who you assign a certain role will get a certain report.

    Hi,
Workbook broadcast output should be in PDF format ,I could not find any option in broadcast setting in BI 7.0.the users requested that they want the report in PDF format.
Please let me know how can I achieve this.
    thanks
    Pallavi

    Hi,
I am not sure whether this is possible? Can you check in RSRD_OUTFORM_OT table whether PDF option is available for workbook(WB)? Anyway if there is only one sheet in workbook you can broadcast the query itself.

  • Possibility of combining exception broadcasting with master data bursting

    Hi Experts,
We have a scenario where it is required to combine exception broadcasting with master data bursting.
As per my understanding if you choose broadcast method as 'exception broadcasting', there is no option for choosing 'master data bursting'.
Am I missing something or Is there a workaround or some method to achieve the same.
    Thanks
