Workbook transport

Hi,
I created workbook and transported to testing. Now i need to do some changes to workbook in the dev. I opened the workbook and did the changes and when saving the existing workbook i am getting the error "Document Store access caused errors in the SAP correction system".
How to create new request for the workbook changes?
How to solve this.
thanks in advance

Hi,
The problem could be the old transport has gone through, and undone the impact of a later transport If so, I will explain how we have set up a process to enable us to manage it, Because there are times when we have had up to 6 different workbooks going through in parallel, each with a role transport, and ensuring that the older ones don’t undo the effect of the newer ones was nearly impossible!
It seems like some sort of role issue. I would just remove them from the role and then reassign again and see if that corrects it.
If you've created your workbook in your dev system, you should add it to the role there, and then transport the role. Otherwise, if you add the workbook to a role directly in the production system, the next time you transport the role the workbook will disappear again.
Hope it helps

  • Workbooks transporting in BW

    Hello,
I have a problem with workbooks transporting. In fact, when I transport them, I can't to find them in target system by using the search function (binoculars), while they exist well when I go to the " metadat repository " module.
Could you please explain to me this problem.
    Thank you in advance

Did you assign these workbooks to appropriate roles before you search ? New workbooks can only be searched under Favourites or Roles. Work with security to assign this worbook under a role and then search for it under ROLES.
    Hope this helps!

  • Problem with Workbook transport

I have a Qxx query and the workbook newly built on a multiprovider, which I saved to the CTS xxx1 and transported from Dev to the testing, the transport was successful when I see the CTS Logs but I can see only the query in testing not the workbook.
    Please help!!

    Hi Palo,
    Thanks for the reply,
I then tried with CTS xxx3 customized CTS, which was created by BASIS to insert the workbook in Browser in the specific Roles according to authorizations, LOG says CTS successful but workbook didn’t turn up in testing.

  • Workbook Transport and Publishing in a Role

    Hi,
I created a Workbook with some precalculacted queries.
I transported the queries and Workbook to Quality System from Development.
I don't want to publish workbook in any ROLE untill it is test in Quality.
In development it is currently under Favorites,When i transported it to Quality,I can't able to find the workbook under Favorites
    and also
How can i publish a workbook in roles
    Thanks

    Hi there,
The favourites are dependent by each client, therefore, in development you'll see that workbook in the favourites and after transporting only the workbook you cannot find it in the favourites.
To open it in quality system simply click on the find button and search the workbook by its description.
After to assign it to a role (publish it), simply open the workbook in development and choose save as... of the BEx toolbar and select the role where you want to save it. Afterwards transport the role to quality (the workbook was already transported before).
Remember that to save the workbook to a role in development you need to have that particular role assigned to your user (only the roles assigned to your user in development are the roles available when you choose save as...)

  • Transportation of Work books from BW Development to BW Production

    Hi,
I have Transported 0FIGL_C01 InfoCube from BW Development to BW Production and have loaded Data also.
with the cube Queries have also come in the BW Production..
But i did not get workbooks in BW Production?
How to bring work books into BW Production?
Please tell me step by step procedure
    Help will be greatly appreciated...
    Thanks in advance...
    This is ver urgent...

    Hi
Unlike Queries, usually workbooks are saevd either under a role or under Favourites.  So if you have saved the your workbooks under a role, you need to have that role assigned to you to view the workbooks. The roles and profiles might be quite different in dev and QA because of authorisations, so look into them carefully. If the developer saves the workbook as a favorite can you still transport it and see it? After transporting the workbooks you will need to retransport the roles they are assigned to. Once the roles are transported after the Workbook transport ..all the workbooks are visible.. The  rule is to transport the roles only once and never after, else all workbooks contained in that role in the target system will be wiped out.
Just for safety sake, it is a good idea to maintain all the workbooks on a secure location, so that in case they are wiped out, you can use these to re-establish them. We create our workbooks directly in production. You can also confirm this by going to RSA1 -> Transport Connnection -> Click on Object Types -> Expand Query Elements -> Query -> double click Select Objects -> Search by your query Technical name -> Transfer. Once you get ur Query and all its object in the righmost box, under Transport request column you should see the Request number that you have created for all the query elements you have changed. If this is not the case then you assign it by checking the transport box for the query and Transport button

    Hi,
You have to create a new request and transport it again before transporting ensure that you collect all the dependent objects manually in the "Transport Connection" in the collection options.
    Hope this helps

  • Not able to make changes to workbook after transporting

    Hi all,
I have transported query and the associated workbook from Dev to QA
when i open the query using query designer in Dev, it is not allowing me to make changes.
Now I need to make changes to workbook in Dev (ex. display long text instead of short) and tranport.
when i make these changes and save the workbook and rerun the workbook, the changes are not reflecting
    even in Dev.
Any ideas what might be going on?
I already tried collecting the workbook and then making the changes.
    It's still not working.
    Thanks,

    Hi
    Thanks for your response.
My workbook is simply a 'save as workbook' version of the main query.
The main query is fine in QA, it is just that I need to modify the workbook (example change order of fields etc).
I already tried collecting workbook and making changes. It didn't work
Do  I also need to collect the original query to capture changes to the workbook.
If so, do I need all the query elements while collecting the query.
    Thanks

  • Transporting role menu and workbook created diurectly in production system

    Hi gurus,
We have several workbooks (and queries) that are created directly in production system. thoose workbooks are connected to a role that is created in development system and transported to production system.
Now, we would like modify this role in development then tranport it on production system, but we are afraid that will be wiped out (overwrite) our production system workbooks (because the role not contains this workbook in development).
Could you please explain to us what we have to do in order to not wiped out our production workbooks.
    Thank you in advance

thank you, it's more clear for me...
Exactly, to have all my requests and workbook in development, I tried to use "Transport order of copy (it means transport queries from Production system to development system)", then to connect them with the corresponding roles in development, but I have the think that BW considers them as new requests when I re-transport them again on the prod.)
Could you say me if i can transport my production system queries on my development system, and manage them in this system (development) in the future.
    Thank you in advance

  • Workbooks, as a general rule, should be transported

    Hi,
Workbooks, as a general rule, should be transported with
    the role????
    Give some examples ?????

    Hi Praveen...
Here are a couple of scenarios:
    1. If both the workbook and its role have been previously transported, then the role does not need to be part of the transport.
    2. If the role exists in both dev and the target system but the workbook has never been transported, and then you have a choice of transporting the role (recommended) or just the workbook. If only the workbook is transported, then an additional step will have to be taken after import: Locate the WorkbookID via Table RSRWBINDEXT (in Dev and verify the same exists in the target system) and proceed to manually add it to the role in the target system via Transaction Code PFCG -- ALWAYS use control c/control v copy/paste for manually adding!
    3. If the role does not exist in the target system you should transport both the role and workbook. Keep in mind that a workbook is an object itself and has no dependencies on other objects. Thus, you do not receive an error message from the transport of 'just a workbook' -- even though it may not be visible, it will exist (verified via Table RSRWBINDEXT).
Overall, as a general rule, you should transport roles with workbooks.

    Sudheer

  • Transported Role Change and can't see workbook.

I'm only guessing but I suspect this happened. In production we published two workbooks to our "FI Controlling" Role.
Then we added a t-code to the role in development and transported the role to production. Now my workbooks are missing from the role in Bex. Did the transporting of the role do this?
If so, how else can this be accomplished.
    Thanks

    Richard,
What do you mean by you published the Workbook.. ?? could you pls explain if it is different than what I am thinking..
you created a new workbook in Dev and assigned(saved) to the role..and you transported this workbook across the landscape.. (but sure, you have to transport the Role too)..
but still when you said, you have added a Transaction to the role you could see the workbooks in that role too (if it is a Dev box)...
we are missing something here..could you pls explain what happend exactly..
    Regards

    Guys,
I transported my Work books from Dev to QA, my Transports went through successfully but I cannot see that work book in QA. How can I see my work books in QA?
    Thanks,

    Hello Kumar,
Have you transported the Roles to QA? If not transport the Roles then you can see the Workbooks.
    Thanks
