Workbook with Discoverer Viewer in Apps 11i?

With the help of (Doc ID: 278095.1) I was able to link Discoverer workbooks in Apps 11i. But all of my workbooks open with Discoverer Plus.
How do I open some of the workbook with Discoverer Viewer in Apps 11i?
I can open all my workbook directly with Discoverer Viewer without Apps 11i config.
Current Function Settings (in 11i) are:
Type: SSWA plsql function
HTML Call: OracleOASIS.RunDiscoverer
Thanks in advance for your help,

Hi,
Your workbooks are openned with viewer or plus depending on the profile 'ICX: Discoverer use Viewer'. You can override this by setting the viewer parameter on the call to OracleOASIS.RunDiscover. In the config of the Apps function that call OracleOASIS.RunDiscover, on the form tab add &VIEWER=Y or &VIEWER=N onto the end of the parameters. e.g workbook=myworkbook&parameters=param1~value1&viewer=Y
Hope that helps,

    Jeff,
    To get the fix you have to: Bug number -5673463
    (a) Apply the 10.1.2.2 patch - you can get this on Metalink (4960210). It is a big patch (over 1 and half GB in size) and will upgrade your app server.
    (b) Then apply the IE7 patch from Metalink (5758865).
    Hope this will help

  • Live sites with Discoverer Viewer

    Is there a list of sites available in the Internet with Discoverer Viewer working ? I would like to see some real live experiences with Viewer.
    thanks,

    Hi Simon
    That's really cool, although it is Discoverer 9.0.4, not 10.1.2.
    For anyone who is interested, Oracle made a lot of changes between the 9.0.4 Viewer and the 10.1.2 Viewer, not least being the ability to send a report via email, to save a report, to pivot the data and to handle fine grained printing using PDF. You can also set up a corporate look and feel for 10.1.2 Viewer using the OEM interface.
    With regards to the take up of Discoverer Viewer, most companies I work with are using it in a ratio of between 70:30 and 90:10 Viewer versus Plus.
    Its a great tool for doing exactly what it says - viewing a report.
    Best wishes

  • Error of access denied opening a workbook in discoverer viewer 10.1.2

    When I open a workbook in discoverere viewer in the html page shows this message:
    OracleBI Discoverer Viewer no ha encontrado los datos necesarios para mostrar los resultados de este evento. Corrija los errores y vuelva a intentarlo.
    - access denied (java.lang.RuntimePermission oracle.discoverer.connections)
    However data seems correct, but I don't know how to delete this message.
    Thanks,
    Carlos

    Hi Carlos,
    Metalink has some information regarding what sounds like a solution to your problem under Doc Id : 265228.1. Have a read and let us know if this is for you and whether you get it working in a development environment.
    Symptoms
    Discoverer 10g (9.0.4) Plus and Viewer throws 'page cannot be displayed'
    Other symptoms
    A.) Discoverer Plus shows a file download dialog with virus warning "Some files can harm your computer. If the file information below looks suspicious, or you do not fully trust the source,do not open or save the file."
    Opening or cancelling will again throw "page cannot be displayed"
    B.) Plus throws a blank page and Viewer throws 500 internal server error
    Cause
    Installation failure on configuring discoverer in OC4J_BI_Forms may caused the problem.
    Using pre-production / beta code (M16b shiphome) will cause the problem.
    Fix
    1.) Edit the file $ORACLE_HOME(midtier)/j2ee/OC4J_BI_Forms/config/java2.policy
    2.) Add the below lines at the end of the file
    ================================
    grant codebase "file:${oracle.home}/discoverer/lib/discoverer5.jar" {
    permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "oracle.discoverer.connections";
    grant codebase "file:${oracle.home}/j2ee/home/-" {
    permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "oracle.discoverer.connections";
    grant codebase "file:${oracle.home}/portal/jlib/pdkjava.jar" {
    permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "oracle.discoverer.connections";
    grant codebase "file:${oracle.home}/portal/jlib/ptlshare.jar" {
    permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "oracle.discoverer.connections";
    ===========================
    3.) Restart OPMN.
    4.) Invoke Discoverer Plus or Viewer.
    Let us know how you get on.

  • Problems with Discoverer Viewer and the printable page

    Hi,
    I have a problem in Discoverer Viewer. I run a workbook, see the results and I click on "Printable Page". I set the page setup options to "Portait" and "100% scale". I preview the workbook in a PDF file and it's ok, I see the results in "Portait" and "100%".
    I close the PDF file and I click again on the "Printable Page". This time, I set the workbook to "Landscape" and "20% scale". I preview the workbook in a PDF file and it's NOT ok, the results are still in "Portait" and "100%". And the date/time in the workbook is the time when I run the workbook the first time. So, it's seems like a browser cache problem. The problem repeats until I clear the brower cache. At that moment, the workbook will take the page setup that I set at this time. However, it will be the same workbook with the same results until I clear the cache once again.
    If I save the PDF file on my Windows Desktop and I overwrite it each time, it's ok.
    Can somebody help me on this??
    Thank you!
    Mathieu

    Hi Michael,
    I'm clearing the browser cache by going in Tools -> Internet Options. In the "General" tab, I click on the "Delete files..." in the "Temporary Internet Files" section" (middle of the window).
    But I don't indicate that Discoverer is saving my printable page changes. I say that the first time I run a workbook, Discoverer saves it (the results) in the "Temporary Internet Files" folder in a PDF file. Each time I run the same workbook after that, Discoverer don't overwrite the file in the "Temporary Internet Files" folder. He takes the PDF file that is already there and show it to me. So, the results are the same even if the data has changed. It does this until I clear the browser cache (it deletes the PDF file in the "Temporary Internet Files" folder).
    Do you understand?
    Regards,
    Mathieu

  • No data found in the discoverer Viewer from Apps responsabiltiy

    Hi
    We have built a new responsibility for the discoverer reports, that is we directly access the discoverer viewer from the separate responsibility,all the report that shared with the users can be viewed from this responsibility,
    but when the user tries to run the report it is saying no data found.but for example if the user is trying to run the hrms report from this discoverer reasonability he get no data found but if we attach the function to the HRMS manager menu and try to access the report from the HRMS manager responsabilty we are able to get the data.
    We did the same setup in dev and test.in dev it is working very fine but in test we are not able to see the records in the report if we try to access.
    Please advice
    thanks
    Regards
    Ramesh Kumar S

    Hi,
    I'm not 100% familiar with HR security, but sounds like profile option setup related to security - perhaps Business Group or Initialization SQL Statement - Oracle / Custom? Check the profile options set for the HRMS Manager responsibility and setup the same for your new responsibility.
    PS. Similar sort of thing exists in General Ledger related to security. See:
    GL security issue in discoverer..

  • Parameters disappear when trying to run a workbook in Discoverer Viewer

    Please help! We have a number of workbooks that were working previously, but have started exhibiting this strange behavior for certain users. They go to Discoverer Viewer, select the desired worksheet, and enter their parameters. When they hit Go, the form immediately resets; no results are returned, and all of the parameter fields are cleared. Can anyone tell me what's going on?
    -Dave

    Hi Dave,
    I had a similar issue awhile back. It was related to the item class for the input parameter. The item class was being built off a table that the user was not given access to. This was in a data warehouse environment. Maybe, it's just a matter of granting access to the table for the user.

  • Scheduling Workbooks on Discoverer Viewer.

    Hello guys
    I know you can schedule workbooks in Discoverer 10g Plus, but can you do this in Viewer? If not, then does this mean that we must give all our users Discoverer Plus so that they can schedule their own workbooks? Users used to schedule their own workbooks on Discoverer 4i. Now we are upgrading to 10g and we wanted to give them Viewer access. How do they schedule workbooks in Viewer?
    Thank for all your help..

    Hi,
    In Discoverer viewer you cannot schedule reports though you can retrieve reports that have been scheduled.
    Users that have access to Viewer will also be able to access Plus by entering a Discoverer Plus URL. The users privileges are stored in the EUL and determine what features the Discoverer user can access, not which tool they can use. So if the user has read-only access to the workbooks in Viewer then they will also have read-only access in Plus.

  • Strane Issue with Discoverer Viewer

    Hi All
    I Created a report in doscoverer plus (OracleBI Discoverer 10g (10.1.2.2)). I have a page item LOCATION and in the drop down box i have four locations LOCATION 1,LOCATION 2,LOCATION 3,LOCATION 4. In discoverer plus the page items are working just fine, whenever i select a location from the page item it gives me the report based on my selection. The problem is when i look at the report in Discoverer Viewer and try to select a different location (other than the default which is LOCATION 1), for some reason it doessn't select a different location but just shows the default. Once i logout and log back in into the viewer it works fine again. Can anyone please tell me whats causing this?
    Thanks

    What browser are you using and have you tried a different browser?

  • Unable to delete workbooks in Discoverer Viewer

    Hi All,
    I could not find any option in Viewer to delete the workbook created by me. Does that mean, users can only save workbooks but cannot delete them in Viewer?
    Thanks.

    Hi
    RE: Oracle gotta see what mess is created after saving the workbooks in Viewer I agree but you are going to have to take some of the responsibility because you allowed the Viewer users to have access to the save privilege.
    Please see Russ' excellent comments. Russ and I see eye to eye on this and I endorse his comments 100% - you should not allow Viewer users to save - period. Russ and I have over 20 years of experience on Discoverer between us and rarely do our opinions differ by very much. This is not surprising because if there's a right way to do something - there's a right way. Sometimes there's an alternative way but rarely are there two right ways.
    The right way to manage Viewer is to withdraw the save privilege from the Viewer users. This of course would not prevent a Plus user from saving in Viewer but it will stop the mess that you are seeing today. Thus, the solution is not to add the delete functionality but to withdraw the save functionality.
    In my experience, Viewer usage should be high, somewhere between a 70:30 to 90:10 ratio when compared to Plus. Because of this high number of users, it is also vitally important that they get trained well on the Viewer tool. Too many companies fail to invest into Viewer training and they suffer greatly because of it. In a lot of companies they assign the training to one of the Plus users, someone who a) is not a trainer, and b) does not know the Viewer tool inside out and back to front.
    I'm not for one second saying that you are in this situation, just saying that this is what typically happens. The end result though is user dissatisfaction which leads to misuse of the system and ultimately on to disuse of the system, with everyone either going back to their old Excel way of working or being granted access to Plus.
    You're definitely on the right path if you are using Viewer so please keep going. Its a great tool for what it does - viewing of reports. You just need to reel in some of that power.
    Best wishes

  • Help with discoverer viewer tables

    Hi
    I have a oracle table which has some blank cells which oracle discoverer shows as null, thats fine although i wish it wouldn't show but i can live with that, the problem is can i exclude the null count when calculating percentages ?
    thanks
    nimesh

    Hi
    You can change how the NULL shows up in your sheets, if you go into Tools, Options, Sheet and at the bottom there is an option Show Null values as.....
    Or on an existing report right click on the table and choose Format Table (or Crosstab) and set the NULL value option in there....
    Can you give us more info on what you mean by excluding nulls from a count....because if it's what i think it is then you can do a case statement.....

  • Discoverer Viewer/Plus 10g after a migration from Discoverer 4i

    Hi, I upgrated Discoverer4i to Discoverer 10g with Ebusiness Suite 11i ( 11.5.9) without installin AS 10g
    I followed the note: http://oracle-magic.blogspot.com/2006/11/upgrading-discoverer-4i-to-10g-on-apps.html
    If I use Discoverer Administrator and Desktop it works perfectly (I connect as an Oracle Application User)
    Now, I want to see my reports with Discoverer Viewer/Plus but I don't understand how to do it (always connecting with an Oracle Application user).
    My previous URL (with Discoverer4i) was: http://gnvdev.ote.gr:8025/discoverer4i/viewer
    Now, after the Discoverer 10g installation I can connect to the "Welcome to Oracle Business Intelligence 10g (10.1.2)" page with the following URL:http://gnvdev.ote.gr:7779/
    I didn't understand how Ebusiness Suite 11i ( 11.5.9) can communicate with Discoverer 10g in order to see reports from the web
    Can anyone help to understand where and how I should modify anything in order to see my reports with Discoverer Viewer or Plus
    Thank you
    Alex

    If you have followed all the steps in "Note: 313418.1 - Using Discoverer 10.1.2 with Oracle E-Business Suite 11i" then you should be able to access Discoverer Plus/Viewer through the following links:
    Discoverer Plus:
    http://gnvdev.ote.gr:7779//discoverer/plus
    Discoverer Viewer:
    http://gnvdev.ote.gr:7779//discoverer/viewer
    The above links will prompt for some input, all what you need to provide is:
    - Applications Username
    - Applications Password
    - Database (SID)

  • HTTP 500 - Internal Server Error from Discoverer Viewer to Portal

    HI,
    I created a tab with a list of workbooks created with Discoverer Viewer and published with Discoverer Portliest Provider (List of Database Workbooks). Another tab contains four Discoverer Worksheets created with the same account. Everything works well but if i click on a report in list and open Discoverer Viewer, when i return to portal and go to tab containing worksheets i see message "HTTP 500 - Internal Server Error" and i'm not able to do anything. I only can close my browser and i must reconnect to portal!
    Can you help me?
    My portal version is cg (9.0.4), i'm using Windows 2000 ESP and Internet Explorer 6.
    I tried with Olin and Mazola but result did not change.
    I used a public connection bud i tried a private connection too. Nothing happened.

    The application.log file, under the OC4J which running your Discoverer provider, should give you some hints about the problem you're facing.
