Workbooks lost in nomansland

Hello Community,
after a problem concerning rights and afterwards unproper save we lost more than 10 workbooks. Concerning this I already have asked some experts. Everyone says the workbooks are gone. They seem to have lost the connection to the user. The workbooks I am talking about where created by only one user and only saved in the "favorites" by him.
As the workbooks weren't deleted in a classical way. They must be somewhere. I think I also have seen some of them in a "deep" table.
Does anyone know how to use the workbooks again. Or any workaround? That would save a lot of work. I think the workbooks belong to only one query which technical name I know.
every idea is appreciated.
Harry
PS: BW 3.5 used

Thank you Frank,
your answer was quite helpful. I found most of the workbooks again. I had to do a little bit different from your proposal as the user was a managing director. So I couldn't reach him easily.
What I did so far:
1.) As you told me: With SE16 and table RSRWBINDEX respective RSRWBINDEXT. Locking for the "owner" with the corresponding user name I found about 25 workbook-IDs. A little bit more than I was looking for. I was expecting about 20. So good so far. I downloaded these Workbook-IDs so that I have them in txt-Format.
2.) Here what I tried a little bit different. I took my user name (which as a BW-administrator has quite many rights) in BEX. Then I indeed found most of the lost workbooks.
In some cases I got the message "no entries found".  What meens this? Do I get this message always when a certain workbook was deleted? Or could there be some other reason?
My question is now. The last workbooks I am looking for haven't had any role connection. Only in the favorites of this certain user. Is it for that possible that I have to login with this certain user name to have better chance to get the workbook back? If it depends on a certain user. Could it possible to copy a user name with all his roles and try the things again?
Thank you
Harry

  • Own fields on workbook lost after refreshing

    Hi,
I have a query created with cell editor (fixed number of rows and columns).
In result area, at excel level, I have put my own rows to put headers with different colors, and some rows to make my own calculations.
In query properties, I have unmarked "Adjust formatting after refreshing".
At query level, in query properties I have also unmarked this flag.
In query properties I have only marked:
    - Suppress repeated values
    - Enable interactive functions
    - Refresh query when opening woorkbook.
I have used it in other systems and it worked ok, so I don't understand this behaviour.
I am using BW3.5 and my BEx Analyzer version is 3.0B Patch 15 (last one).
    Any idea?
    Thanks

    Hello,
Please check the query, which you have used to create wirkbook, and the query may contain variable or restricted key figure or may be cube has not data on which query is build.
    Thanks.

  • Connection lost during saving some workbooks in Plus

    Hi,
I've faced strange problem in Disco plus. When I try to save some workbooks to database, connection is lost. This problem is faced on some workbooks, in other saving works fine. This problem doesn't exist in Desktop edition.
I've searched forum and found, that it could be connected with sorting on calculation item based on CASE. But I haven't any calculation and for test removed all sorting and problem remains.
How do I can solve this problem?
    Regards,
    Krystian

    Hi Krystian
Presumably you are on 10g? I'm wondering whether you created the workbooks in Desktop initially and then started using them in Plus. I noticed that this scenario was causing workbooks with calculations to not save or reopen correctly. When I created the workbooks using only Plus I had no issues.
Can you also confirm whether you have upgraded to 10.1.2.2 recently? There are known issues with lost connections here too.
    Best wishes

  • Connection to Discoverer Plus (10g) lost when exporting workbook to Excel

I have a user who was exporting a workbook to Excel and it showed that the export failed. When she closed that box, she got a message that her Connection to Discoverer was lost.
Anyone experienced this one? Any ideas why this is happening?
    Cindy

    Hi Kevin
It will do this if you change the parameters away from the default and you have told Discoverer to remember parameter settings. This is controlled by an entry called SaveLastUsedParamValue in pref.txt on the server.
If this is the cause then its not a bug. All Discoverer thinks is that you have changed something. Even switching an item in Page Items could trigger this.
If you have users who only need to View reports why not use Viewer? You can turn off saving altogether there if you so wish.
    Best wishes

  • Workbook Variants lost on change of query

    All,
We have found that we lose our workbook variants when we modify the underlying query.
Does anyone know whether these can be recovered.
    Regards
    Nev

    Hi Ravi,
Thanks for your reply - the answer is that I have created a workbook qith an underlying query that has been changed and saved as a new version - so the new query has no variants saved against it. The old query has all the missing variants of course.
I now have the problem of re-creating the old variants against the new query.
I wish I new how the underlying tables hang together then I could query them and get the variant dteails. I believe there are some abap classes which have methods to list variants as well - but as usual I'm up against time constraints and can't investigate these possibilities.

  • Formatting lost when exported to excel

When I export a worksheet results to excel the formatting is being lost like in my worksheet I wanted a line and space for every grouped item which is lost in excel sheet. Is there a way get around for this ?
    Thanks

Not exactly sure what formatting you're having a problem with, but I'll list some of the points I can think of, of exporting to Excel and will hopefully cover it. I believe you may be referring to point 1 below, but just in case ...
    1. If you have group sort on for a column or more, then when exported to Excel, you won't have those 'blank' values for the column(s) that's grouped. That's why when you know someone will be exporting to Excel, it's a pain as all group sorts are usually taken back off (which can screw up exactly what you're trying to point out in the workbook).
    2. If you have a page -> item (ie: lots of values you pull down like a LOV), then I believe, that you won't get an Excel worksheet for each value in the LOV but only for the one currently displayed when you performed the File -> Export.
    3. When you export to Excel, you only get actual values, no functions of how it was calculated (ie: it'll be static, not dynamic).
    4. You can export to Excel using Plus and might not get the formatting characteristics you want in Excel. I've seen users specifically bring up Viewer just to get the formatting characteristics (colors, fonts, etc.) when they export from that Disco version.
    5. Sometimes when you export from Disco to Excel, that actual value that gets posted in Excel is different. I know ... it sounds wierd, but it's a fact. The problem is NOT Disco, but is a problem with Windows and a setting has to be altered (although I'd have to hunt what that setting is now though). However, I've only seen this happen a few times, so definitely not the norm.

    Hi,
You need to run a trace for this user to diagnose this issue. Look at note 133055.1 for more details.

    Hello Suman,
Check the table rszglobv for this variable - ZCONLEH.
If it is available there then see which infoobject it belongs to and then look for that in the query designer. May be resaving the query solves the issue.
If the variable is not available in the table, then it seems that the variable is lost and you might have to recreate it for keeping the semantics of the query the same as it was before the upgrade.

  • Missing Workbook in Production

    Hello Friends,
I am getting below error while opening a report.
"Workbook doesnot exist in the document store"
Looks like workbook is lost in production.
Can someone please tell me, how to restore this back? This is a production report and need to be replaced as soon as possible.
Appreciate your help and points will be assigned.
    Thanks
    Priya

    Hi Priya,
There is no Option to Restore the Deleted workbook.
But You Can check the Log by Executing the ABAP Program RRMX_WORKBOOKS_GARBAGE_COLLECT in SE38.Here you can find the ID of your work book which was Deleted. There by you can Transport the workbook from Development Server.
or Once you get the workbook ID that was Deleted Go to Try to fin the Request that has this workbook Just Re-Import that Request.
    Thanks,

  • BW workbook and roles

    Hi guru
    I have a problem :
I have one role in PFCG  for access from BEX to the query of an infocube.
Under this role there are some workbook saved by the user.
My question is : if I cancel the role all the workbook are lost ? Is there a Way to save the workbook and assign the workbook to another role ?
This is because I need to recreate the roles in PFCG for query access reorganization, but i'm confused on assigning the workbook to the new roles
    Thank' in advance

    Hi Antonio,
This is a very simple task , copy the role as per other experts steps
go to your original roles authorization data , see where the workbook is inserted in Z1 ( A1 )
    in Z2 ( w1...... )
note down the authorization object  where its inserted
take down the field values also from the original role.
    NOte down
    Authorization object
    Field name --- values
Now come to your New/Copied role
    Search for the authorization object
enter all the values that you need into this role against its field name.
Actually you dont need to copy roles too.....
just open the role Z2 , find where the A1 is inserted, then add all that you need next to A1
Siddarth varma has provided the steps to follow very clearly to do this

  • Question about the format of the workbook

    Hi experts:
Is it possible to make a report whoes column  is not fix in workbook? like :
                            product1   product2  product3   ......
    sales volume
    anyone has some suggestion?
    Thanks advance .

    HI cindy,
Once you create a workbook, the structure of the workbook cannot be changed automatically (except for the sheet where you have inserted your qeury in which case, any changes you make in this sheet would be lost once you refresh the query or reexecute the workbook) . you can change a sheet that you have created in that workbook and it doesn have any query inserted in that sheet as per my knowledge. Let us know if you find something new.

    Sree.

  • Shared workbook in excel 2010

I have a shared workbook with individual sheets for each project within the team. I need to review any changes they make to their sheets as this information is used elsewhere.
When there is a newproject, I need to copy the template. The problem is that when I try to copy the template all the formatting is lost. I can't unshare the workbook as there is nearly always someone using the workbook and they would not be able
to save their changes. Is there a work round for this problem?

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that the shared Excel file will lost formatting after you copied them. Do you like to tell us how do you copy them? Which format did it lost?
Based on my tested, if I copied the content from shared file to a new file, it only changed the column width. Thus,
we could try the use "keep data formatting" when we paste the template, it'll keep the value and formatting.
If you only need the formatting without value/formal, we also could choose "Formatting only"

Tip: Please use the same Excel format when copy/paste, such as both XLSX.

  • Broadcasting of Workbook doesn't work

    Hi,
I met a problem when I want to send a workbook towards an external e-mail address. I tried 2 roads:
    1) using RSPRECADMIN --> BEx precalculation --> I valorize the fields: workbook, variant (?), precalculation server and e-mail address. In this case the mail is received, but all the images are not available and the attachment (an xls file) is empty and has a format not recognized
    2) using BeX broadcaster --> after the configuration steps, I click su execute and the sending process doesn't finish (it is infinite...)
    Any ideas?
    Thanks for the support.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
