Workcenter: Alert Inbox
Hello Solman experts!
We are currently using CCMS Monitoring within Workcenter of Solution Manager 7.1 SP10.
We connected several satellite systems with SAPCCM4X agent in order to implement central auto reaction method.
If we access our Alert Inbox we detect a performance problem.
The most part of the response time is CPIC+RFC time. This time will be used to retrieve the data from several SAPCCM4X agents.
Below one example of call the data from one satellite system with SAPCCM4X agent.
Are the some improvements known that can be applied in this case?
Thank you!
Hi Alex,
Please check the follwoing notes if they can help:

Sorting alerts in SOLMAN Alert Inbox by time of the alert
Hi Gurus,
I have not found any method in Solman for sorting alerts in Alert Inbox on basis of their time. Please help me out by your suggestion
Thanks,
PankajHello Pankaj,
In Workcenters sorting Alerts is done a bit differently than in DSWP > Solution Monitoring > System Monitoring.
When you are in System Monitoring Work Center > Alert Inbox - Then on the top right hand corner is the Settings link.
>Click settings and select the sort tab.
>Here you can select the columns to sort the Alerts on.
>You can choose Server, Instance, Full Name, Current Status and System. Additionally you can specify the sort direction ( >Ascending/Descending ).
>You can specify more than one field.
>Once done click apply, to apply the sort, and/or clcik save to save the sort criteria.
Actually this is a much more powerful sort feature here in Workcenter than in DSWP > Solution Monitoring > System Monitoring where you clicked the header of the column and pushed either the sort ascending or sort descending bush buttons.
I do hope this help solve your problem in solman_workcenter.

Alert is not getting displayed in Alert Inbox
Hi,
We have created a BPM with an Alert. The Alert is getting triggered in the PE but we are not able to see the alert in the alert inbox. It is neither being displayed in ALRTDISP transaction.
We have already subcribed that alert.Hi,
Have to scheduled the background job SXMSALERT_PROCESS_DATA_GET to collect the alert message for further processing?

The expression is not being displayed in the alert inbox
Hi,
I have created an expression in 'Long and Short Text' tab present in the ALRTCATDEF transaction screen.
The expression is "test Error in message &SXMS_MSG_GUID&". However if i goto alert inbox, this expression is not getting displayed. I tried putting this expression under Message title, Short text and Long text tabs. But no change in the result.
In the above expression, SXMS_MSG_GUID is a container variable declared in ALRTCATDEF transaction screen.
Same is the situation irrespective of the container variable being used - SXMS_ERROR_CAT etc.,
I appreciate your early response.
Regards
GaneshHi Venkat,
Without using BPM, you can think/try out with triggering an alert from UDF:
/people/bhavesh.kantilal/blog/2006/07/25/triggering-xi-alerts-from-a-user-defined-function
Otherwise, you can use email functionality to notify the error message rather an alert....so that you can customize your output format/or error message required.
Also check out this Michal's blog on ALERT Configuration..

Unable to capture alerts in alert inbox
Hello,
I'm working on a simple BPM that sends out an alert via a control step. I have completed the setup as per SAP help/notes/blogs/etc and have seen the alerts being generated in applications log - trxn code slg1. I have also setup alert rules for error conditions and see alerts generated we I change logon info to an incorrect value in my channels.
However these are being forwarded to some other sever and not showing up in my alert inbox.
Everything (The XI and the Alert framework ) are setup on the same webAS instance and the RFC destination for the central alert server is set to NONE in salrt1. The ICF service alert_test_xml is de-activated as well.
Is there anything I'm missing.
PS: One of the log entry is ->
Alert forwarding in XML format
Message no. SALERT018
Diagnosis
The configuration of the alert server indicates forwarding to an external alert server.
System response
No alert is created in the system. The alert data is forwarded instead.Hi Ashish,

Message ID SXMS_MSG_GUID not getting displayed in alert inbox
Hi,
In ALRTCATDEF i have defined container element named SXMS_MSG_GUID which has ABAP Dict. Data Type SXMSMGUIDC. In the message title i have used that container element using &SXMS_MSG_GUID&. I am getting alert in my alert inbox in RWB but all the other texts are displayed except the message id. I even tried using dynamic text but no luck. Can anyone plz tell me how can i get the message id displayed in my alert inbox?
Please advice!!!
Regards,
Mateen.Bhavesh,
The message is failing because of the error "NO_RECEIVER_CASE_ASYNC" says "No receiver could be determined". Its not related to an adapter error. I went through the note which you suggested but its not providing much help.

Problem with alerts in the alert inbox
Hi experts,
I have configured AE alerts and I wanted to display the Error details as in RWB in the alert as well. With the help of SDNers in the thread
Alerts for JDBC adapter
I added SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRTXT in the container.
Now, alerts are getting generated and I could see the value for error description in the report alrtdisp for the alert generated as:
<i>java.io.FileNotFoundException: /usr/sap/workdir/output.txt (Permission denied (errno:13))</i>
but the alert in the alert inbox displays a blank in place of this description.
any clues?Hi,
check the Alert catagory first,i odnt think u will not get the Alert discription if u get the Alert in Alert inbox.
Checks some links on Alerts.

Disappearance of alert message from alert inbox
XI Experts,
We are using XI 7.0, We have configure alerts for many of our scenario and it is working good. Whenever messages is failed in IE or AE we get an alert in our alert inbox in RWB and for MS outlook. But I observed that alert messages disappear from alert inbox in RWB after the expiry date of the alert message.
I would like to know why my messages are disappearing from alert inbox in RWB after the expiry date? Do we need to do any setting in the system to keep the alert messages in the alert inbox of RWB after the expirty date of message?
Any helpful input is appreciated.
MPWell it makes to clear the alert inbox by having a expiry time but if you do not want one, set the Expiry time in ALRTCATDEF for your alert category to a high value.
This is explained here,
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/96/f1033c128f4a7de10000000a114084/content.htm
<i> In the Expiry Time in Min. field, you can enter a life span for alerts of this category if the alerts will no longer be relevant after a specific period of time. If the expiry time elapses, the alert is removed from the alert inbox and is no longer delivered using any other channel.
Expiry times can be derived from various sources. Priority is given first to the data provided by the triggering application, second to the BAdI ALERT_EXP_DATE, and third to this field in the alert category definition. If none is found in any of these sources, the default expiry of 31.12.2099 applies.</i>

Viewing alert in my RWB ALERT INBOX !!!
Hi all
I have read the blogs/forums in order to implement my alert inbox but until now I don´t know why my I can not see my alerts in the Run Time Workbench Alert Inbox.
Please see the steps that I have performed.
In the Abap Side
I have created an alert category D with this information:
In the properties tab I fill the values fields for Description, priority,Max no of dels, expiry time in min, escalation active, escalation recipient, tolerance
In the container tab I have entered some variables
I fill the long and short text for email
In Settings ---Configurations I have only filled the status handling mails for errors status and the logging fields
In the Runtime Work bench Alert Configuration
I have created a new rule for my category
When I go to the rwb alert inbox , no error was triggered
In the SLG1 transaction for alert I have this error : No e-mail address is entered in Customizing for XML forwarding
Do I have to enter an email address in the Settings ---Configurations?
My purposes are to show the error alerts in RWB alert inbox
In my above descriptions do I had to configure something else?
be aware that services are running ok .Please give me a step by step action that I have to realize in order to trigger the alerts in the RWB alert inbox.
I have already read the forums, blogs and note for this, I am a little confused because my implementations are not working.Hi,
Try this...
1. From the alert category definition environment (transaction ALRTCATDEF), choose Settings -> Configuration.
2. Ensure you are in change mode.
3. If you want to be able to confirm alerts by SMS or Internet mail, you must enter the user created to receive all incoming mails in the Inbound Processing section. For more information, see Alert Confirmation.
4. In the Status Handling for Mails section, you can specify which statuses are to be reported. The first setting refers to the system being informed, and the second refers to a status mail being sent to the sender.
5. In the Logging section, select Write Log only if you want additional information about the actual processing of the alerts. This information is logged using the standard application log and can be viewed in transaction SLG1 (object ALERT).

How to catch the CC's error in the alert inbox(RFC to File)
Dear All,
I'm now have a question about catching the CC's error.
The interface is RFC to File, when the sender CC had a error(for example:RFC adapter's connection information was wrong) , there was not error message in the alert inbox even though I set all the condition of the alert rule with "*".
where is the problem?
thanks,
SamHey
First of all check SLG1 if any alerts were triggered for the error.
Secondly uncheck "Suppress multiple alerts of this rule" option in alert configuration in RWB,it might be checked right now.
Thanks

Currently BPM is designed to send the alerts to Alert inbox of Fixed recipients. For this alert category, in the properties 'Dynamic Text' is checked. But the current requirement is to send those alerts to Email also.

Alerts are not coming in Alert Inbox SLG1
Hi Experts,
We have SAP NW2004s PI/XI system.
We have defined alert configuration step by step with following,
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/3f/81023cfa699508e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm
/people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/09/09/xi-alerts--step-by-step
And I have checked configuration through many other threads, but don't why alerts are triggered.
Logging Entry is checked,
TCODE - ALRTCATDEF ->choose Settings->configuration , make sure you have the logging parameter checked.
TCODE - SICF - AlertInbox and other services are active.
But, I am not getting alert in Alert Inbox or SLG1 transaction.
Error message can see through SXMB_MONI.
When I do testing with report 'RSALERTTEST', it shows entry in both SLG1 and AlertInbox.
Do we need to setup anything from triggering side?
Pease help with this, it is urgent.
Thanks,
SamV.Hi Jean,
are you looking at the SXMB_MONI on the XI system?
Yes, It shows Mapping Error there...
did you put your user on that alert when you configured it?alerts are asociated to specific users.
Can you please tell me detail, I didnt get it.
Thanks,

Alert Inbox and Alert Config does not open in RWB
When I open RWB I am not able to open Alert Inbox and Alert Configuration links. Its says " Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" . When I exequte the command ALRTINBOX from Abap stack, it opens the Alert Inbox page.
Can someone tell me if there is any setting that I need to change in my Internet Explorer. I even tried using Mozilla, but same issue. My team members are able to open these links, hence it may be some setting on my machine.Hi Chiraj/ Navneet,
Thanks for your reply, I have already tried these setting and my team members are able to login from their comps. Also i have tried using SUPER USER id which has all access, still the same issue. Hence I believe it is an issue with Internet Explorer setting.
Thanks

BPM - Alert Inbox - Detail List - Single Sign on
Hi
I have some issues with single signon and the detail list in the alert inbox.
When I click the details list, it should open the list on the managed system, but for some reason it only takes me to the login screen of the managed system. I would like to get straight into the list in the managed system, since trusted RFC and SSO has allready been setup.
I have seen it working with the SSO.
Has anyone experienced this and/or know of a Solution? Maybe just a hint into what could be missing.
Kindly Regardshi,
sso configuration taken over by solman_setup.
hence make sure managed system configuration -> step 'single sign on setup' successfully completed or not.
Thanks
Jansi
