Worked perfectly - today won't open Zynga games, says unresponsive but using massive RAM and CPU - why?

I've been using Firefox 4 for ages and previous versions before that. I have done nothing today to cause what is happening. I ahve not updated Adobe. Nothing has been installed or added or even uninstalled.
Today when I go into Zynga games on Facebook, it says (not responding), my screen goes white and my CPU and RAM go mental. If you watch in Windows Task Manager - the normal for me when Firefox 4 is running properly is 121,000-330,000, however, today as soon as nothing is happens and I have the white screen the figures jump from 330,000 in steady increments until my RAM is maxed (I've a powerful Sony Vaio with dual cores and a decent CPU). I eventually had no choice but to abort through Windows Task Manager as it had reached 1,400,000 and was still climbing!!!!!
Why????? I've done absolutely nothing different today to any other day!!
I'd be really grateful if anyone has any suggestions?
I have uninstalled Firefox and all the Adobe products and reinstalled. Cleaned my cache and temp files (which I do daily anyway), have done registry scans and everything is normal, have defragged and everything is normal. My other browsers are not affected - Chrome and IE are both working beautifully but I prefer Firefox.

    No, Jim.  I did not know where the backups were!  I've been researching this online, on here, and asking everyone I knew that used lightroom if they had any idea how I could get lightroom to open again. I checked out "permissions" too. Finally, I went to the lightroom folder which was in my PICTURES library and double clicked on "Lightroom 5 Catalog.lrdata" and Lightroom opened up.  I hadn't backed up the images since the 24th so all of those that were edited since then went back to being unedited.  I had already exported them to another folder so I don't have to do anything to those anyway.  Is this lrdata the backup?  I had a couple of people tell me to go to Lightroom and do this and do that, but I couldn't open Lightroom up to do anything at all!  After getting Lightroom back, I got the 5.5 update and everything seems to be back to normal.  I appreciate your help  AND your kindness to someone that hasn't got a clue about computers or how this software works.

    Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
    * "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
    * "Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

    In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
    If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.

    I had the same issue after my recent update of iTunes.  I didn't update Quicktime 'cuz I don't use it much (or at all).  On another thread discussing the same issue, I saw that the Quicktime installation can affect iTunes.  So I downloaded the latest Quicktime, installed, redooted - issue fixed (for now).

    You don't open games from within Game Center. It's meant for giving you your game stats, achievements, progress, etc. You run the game from it's icon. If the game is Game Center capable/enabled, the game itself will prompt you to login where it will keep track of your progress and achievements.
    Also, make sure you are signed in to Game Center with your credentials...If the game itself doesn't prompt or bring up Game Center, just tap on Game Center's icon or do it from Settings>Game Center.

    Sydneybling it does sound like your security software is interfering with the process of installing and utilizing your Adobe Creative applications.  I would recommend that you try temporarily disabling your security software and utilizing the directions listed at Install and update apps - https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-apps.html to install InDesign CC.

    The following article provides some useful troubleshooting that can help get your iPhone's camera working correctly.
    Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
    If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
    If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
    Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
    Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
    Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
    Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
    Try to remain steady while focusing:
    Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
    Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
    Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
    Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
    If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.

    Firefox won't open because it says it is already open. It appears Firefox is operating in the background. Tried to remove it but we get the same message to log out of Firefox. For 10 years we have been using McAfee with all features but it does not detect any virus or malaware etc. It appears it might be a malaware problem but even using all the latest Microsoft fixes hasn't helped. We used Vista Business Professional with all the latest service packs updated. We use the latest version of Firefox as of up to around 3 weeks or so ago when this issue first appeared.

    I suspect you need more expert help but here are a few things you can try.
    If you can't open Firefox(double click on Firefox desktop icon) try Safe Mode - Hold down the Shift Key as you double click on the icon>don't check anything on the page that opens>continue. If Firefox opens and works in this safe mode go to Add-ons> Extensions and look for "Ask". Then look at Add-ons >Plug-ins and again look for "Ask" . Remove, delete,disable any Asks. If you do remove any, close Firefox. And try again in Normal Mode.
    The Ask website has detailed instructions for removal but you need to find it on your computer and have your computer in working order.
    If there is no sign of Ask and Firefox is working well in Safe Mode you should work your way through this -

    Eventually you might need to grapple with About:Config and even your Windows Registry but I would recommend a complete uninstall and re-install before that. Unfortunately that often doesn't work.
    That all sounds very daunting but taken step-by-step you might get lucky early.

    What haven't you backed them up? You should always have a back up of any important material on your Mac. Make one now:
    Most Simple Back Up
    Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
    Slightly more complex:
    Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically. Examples of such apps: Chronosync or DejaVu . But are many others. Search on MacUpdate
    What version of iPhoto do you have?
