Worked the other day. Today, not so much.

PowerMac G4, MDD, Dual 867.
Had issues with it not waking from sleep. Usually I could force shut down and restart fine if I unplugged all the USB accessories plugged into it. It's an older machine, of course, and seeing some topics on this board I thought I'd first try replacing the battery. I did that. Reset the PMU. Didn't really seem to help. Then I discovered there was a firmware update (4.4.8 ... mine was 4.6 ... something).
So I downloaded the update and installed it. Followed the installation directions - shut down, press power button until I hear the long tone or see the light flicker. I did that. First time the screen went to some sort of DOS screen. Had prompts for "boot-mac" or "shutdown-mac" or somesuch. I force shut down, then did the aforementioned procedure again. This time, I got a progress bar at the bottom of gray screen. The progress bar completed (presumably indicating that the firmware had been updated) and then ...
everything shut off.
Since then I haven't been able to start the thing. It will come on with the chime, and the light will come on (so, too, the little red one on the board in side) but there is no video signal and keyboard input is nonexistent. I've tried holding down AppleOption+PR to reset the PRAM, but it won't go. Held down SHIFT to get the DVD tray to open ... no go. Held down C to try to boot from the OSX install disc. No go. Tried to put it into target mode to get access from my laptop. Nothing. It just comes on, chimes, and the fan runs.
I tried taking out the battery, unplugging everything, reseting the PMU, letting it sit to completely discharge for several hours. No go.
I got this thing free from work. The only money I put into it was the battery an a wireless card, so I suppose it's not a huge deal if I can't make it go again, and I certainly wouldn't want to invest too much into it.
Still, it's frustrating that it worked just fine two days ago. Hate to think I killed it.
Any thoughts?

Check out things in Texas Mac Man's Battery, PRAM, PMU tutorial on the subject. His tutorial is a little dated (don't believe it even mentions G5's) but the info in it, except SMU not being included, still applies.Cheers! DALE

Can someone please help me!? I am trying to put music on my IPod and it was working the other day. I can not get itunes to recognize my Ipod. I have tried to unistall and reinstall Itunes. I have tried all the steps on the site and can't get it to come up. I tried my IPhone which was also showing up just the other day and it also is not showing in Itunes! Please help me. I need to be able to put music on my IPod for my work.

I have sorted it myself!!
Ipod is now in the top right corner, last time I clicked on it, it ejected it but by clicking on the actual ipod icon then it brings up your ipod. I restored it to factory settings and synced all my music and it now works again. Hope this can help anyone who ends up with the same problem.

This morning, I made a new "customer" and downloaded the "trial version" of CC2014 photoshop. This resulted a working CC2014. I hope Adobe can fix my "real" account which does not work at this time.
Anyone else tried this?

I don't think everyone with a Mac is having basic problems with Photoshop 2014.1.
What exact versions do you have in each case? Is your updated version 2014.1, while the "new customer" version is 2014.0? Choose Help - System Info to see.
Sounds like, given your specific system, you may want to try a full clean and reinstall, or maybe a downgrade to 2014.0 until 2014.1.1 or 2014.2 comes out. I think the older versions are available through the Creative Cloud application.

If other guest accounts are able to connect to the same SSID successfully, then the problem is with the account and not with the AP config. Check the logs on your RADIUS server to see what's going on.

Deleting songs in itunes does not work - the other forum did not help

i have a new ipod (80GB)and i cannot delete anything from itunes. when i highlight and try delete/backspace nothing happens. when i right click on an item the menu that opens does not include a clear or delete option.

i have the latest itunes version and have it reinstalled again and again.
the otions i get when highlight and right click on a song in the music section in itunes are:
get info
rating
shoe in windows explorer
reset play count
reset skip count
convert selection for ipod
convert selection for apple tv
uncheck selection
mark as not new
add to playlist
show in playlist
copy
get album artwork
apply sort field
so there is no clear nor delete!
how on earth can i get my list smaller????
i am starting to think about all those lovely windows mp3 players.

no idea what happened here but for a moment i was actually able to delete songs from my playlist which caused me to loose a few songs. i then closed everything off and restarted and now it appears to work. the strange thing is i haven't changed a thing. however i will closely monitor this and if it stays like this i have no further reason to get my fingers in a twist. as i said a mystery to me, anyhow thanks to all who were involved trying to help.

Reh... Doesn't work on my 2012 Mac mini. A function key set in Sys Prefs worked in Leopard and Lion on my MB but I cannot get any key to work using SysPref Dictation & Speech. It is befuddling and now I have to go to Edit-Speech to turn on and turn off speech to selected text.
I have used Macs and Apple 2es since cave man days and Apple is becoming so befuddling I am wondering if there is even an advantage to it over Windows XP. I spent a lot on this little box, it looks good (the first one had to be exchanged as it wouldn't link to my keyboard ???) but Apple intuitive does no longer seem meaningful.
If speech to text no longer is accessible by short cuts using Fkeys, why bother to have it in Syst Prefs?
Apple is losing its way. The pleasure is gone and no one at Apple seems to care.

Amazing steps you've done so far! The great news is this is very unlikely an issue with your iPhone.
I've run into a similar issue lately as well. I narrowed it down to one song that was causing 30 songs not to sync. I removed the song from the sync list (unchecked it) and all 29 songs were able to sync.
You may be running into a similar issue. This may be a problem with this version of iTunes, an issue with one song or a group of songs; hard to know for sure. It's important to narrow down and isolate the cause. Most imporantly get that music back on there!
The way to narrow down the casue add just a few songs at a time (even 1, just to get that first sync finished). Manually syncing is what you'll need here.
Plug in your iPhone, on the Summary screen (shows a picture of your iPhone, the iOS version, Restore iPhone....; etc). Under the Options area at the bottom choose to Manually Manage Videos and Music then choose Apply in the lower right. The music that's on your iPhone now should be removed from your iPhone now. You're now able to sync music manually.
The link below explains how to drag the songs from the iTunes library on the computer on to your iPhone which will start the sync. Add just one song just to see if you can get 1 of those hundreds of songs on there. If you can, awesome! Keep adding until you find the song or group of songs that are causing this issue.

I went to the Premiere Elements 13 tryout page at the Adobe web site and downloaded the tryout. I used the Firefox browser (latest version).
These are the details according to what was presented to me today
1. In choice of download, I selected Multiple LanguagesIWindows 64 bitI 1.67 GB. I do not have a Windows 7 or 8 32 bit computer.
In your case, you would expect that you used used Multiple LanguagesIWindows 1.50 GB (which would have been the 32 bit version
in agreement with your Windows 7 or 8 32 bit computer.
2. When I pressed the Download button, there appeared
Akamai Download Manager
Browse For Folder dialog - (where I designated Desktop as my save location for the saved file/folders from the download)
3. The first file to download was the .7z which is named Premiereelements 13_LS26_win64.7z (in my case, in yours it should be ...._win32.7x)
File 1 of 2.
The second file to download was the .exe which is named PremiereElements 13_LS26_win64.exe (in my case, in yours it should be..._win32.exe)
4. When "3" is finished, automatically the Install Now comes up with a dialog regarding the .exe with an Open button. Click on the Open button.
5. Next there is a Folder Location dialog which I had set
C:\Uses\Owner\Desktop\Adobe Premiere Elements 13
I clicked next in this Folder Location dialog.
6. Next there was an Adobe Premiee Elements 13 dialog "Preparing Files" with mention of "Extracting Files".
When the extraction process was complete, there was the automatic appearance of the Files Are Ready with a check mark next to
"Launch Adobe Premiere Elements 13. There I clicked the Finished button.
7. Next up was the Adobe Installer dialog and the "Initializing Installer" message.
8. Next came the Welcome dialog with choices of Install or Try. I selected Try.
If you have a purchased serial number already, I assume that you can click install and use your purchased serial number.
9. Next came the sign In Required dialog where I click the Sign In button.
10. Next the Adobe Software License Agreement to which I clicked Accept.
11. Next the Options dialog -
Adobe Premiere Elements 13 4.1 GB
Language English (North America)
Location C:\Program Files\Adobe
to all of 11 I clicked Install.
and said Yes to User Account Control pop up.
12. Automatic Install from there on.
When I looked at my desktop I found saved there
a. the .exe file
b. the .7x file
c. an Adobe Premiere Elements 13 Folder
any of which I believe I could have installed from as I have described to you previously.
If you cannot get the above to work, then you can try going through the process of getting the Adobe Premiere Elements 13 tryout

There you will end up with the .exe and .7z downloads. After you download and save these two to your desktop, then you begin the
process by double clicking the exe and following the on screen instructions.
Please review the above and determine how much of it you have been through before and the choices that you have made along the way.

There's only a few things that could be my passcode, but because it disables for an hour, it is time consuming trying to figure it out. What do I do? I do not care about having to erase everything since it's new and there's nothing on it, but it was never synced with iTunes.

Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

I too had a HORRIBLE time with ITunes 7.0. The sound quality was absolutely terrible!! How did you recover your "Purchased Music" folder? I seem to have lost mine when I reverted back to Version 6.0.5. I also lost about 50 songs that I can't seem to find.
As a side note, when I called the Apple technical support line and spent over 45 minutes on hold before I finally got assistance, the guy I spoke to said his department had NO IDEA about the problems with Version 7.0 - I was his first call. Someone should be fired for not testing Version 7.0 thoroughly.
To anyone with problems, I suggest you call or email Apple so they are aware that this problem with Version 7.0 is widespread. Hopefully, they will actually listen to us customers, research this, and at least post some troubleshooting tips on the Apple website to help us out.

We're sorry to hear that your phone isn't working. It's very important to have a functioning touchscreen! Let's explore your options OK? If the phone is taken to a store, troubleshooting can indeed be done. The store representative can even contact us while you're there. Do you have insurance on the device? Or, do you maybe have a prior vzw device that can be activated until the upgrade is available? You can also check your My Verizon account to see if your line( or another line on the account) is eligible for an upgrade. VZW always has options for you.

TS1702 I have the "Today is +" app on my Itouch. I have been using it for 2 years. I always email my backup to my home computer. I realized the other day that it stopped receiving the backup to my computer in July!    Help. now what?

I have the app "Today is +"   I have been using it for about 2 years. I usually send backup by email to my home computer. I noticed the other day that I have NOT been receiving my backups since July!   When I send it from my Itouch it does give me a "message sent." I have done all the updates and restarted my Itouch and computer. No luck. I have iOS 6.1.3.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
