Workflow: 4K XAVC S clips edited into 422 files, then what?

Purchased Sony AX100 4K camcorder and a Sony 4K TV. (X850B 4K Ultra HD TV). Playback directly from camera to TV is spectacular.
Can import AX100 clips into FCP10.1.3 and then edit them into a 422 movie at full 3840 x 2160/60p resolution. Then I am stuck!
Computer playback of the edited full resolution movie stutters badly on my iMac. To play these movies on my Sony 4K TV, I would have to convert the 422 files to XAVC S. Can't find this option in either FCP or compressor. If I had this conversion ability, I could load the XAVC S files into the camera flash memory and then use the player in the camera to watch at full resolution and without stutter.
Note: Can compress to best 1080p, but the compression looses the 4K detail.

ProRes422 full resolution videos do not play without excessive stutter.
I own the X850B 4k Ultra HD TV and that is where the frustration comes in. How can I play my 4K videos on this TV?
Sony has a 4K player, but warn that it will not play back home videos until later. I wonder if there is other equipment that would let me watch my 4K movies on the 4K TV.

Fcp 7 hdv captured clip turns into text file

Would anyone know why hdv clips captured using prores 422 are coming in as a text file?? In the browser info fields under creator they indicate "textedit" and also appear in the capture scratch folder as text files (with no quicktime logo). However, they will play in the viewer and timeline.
If I "get info" on them in the capture scratch folder they are listed as plain text and won't open with qt. If I add .mov to the end of the file they then indicate a qt file and will play.
All of this is using fcp 7, QT 7.6.2, and only trying to capture hdv. SD is fine.
When I switched to another drive and opened 6.0.5 and tried the same thing, same easy setup, etc., they come is as quicktime as they always have.
Am I missing something? Is this enough info to get any advice?

Capturing in ProRes is an unusual workflow, most people don't have a clue about it. I would suspect that's why we don't have very many people complaining about the problem just yet. I upgraded to FCP 7 shortly after it's release, and upgraded to Snow Leopard the day after it came out, but haven't needed to capture any additional projects until now. I wish I would of captured some footage between upgrading to FCP 7 and Snow Leopard so I could possibly isolate the problem and or distinguish which upgrade may be causing the problem. I would expect we'll start to see or hear of more people having the problem soon. I haven't looked in any of the other forums, i.e. Creative Cow or anywhere else to see if this problem has been reported elsewhere, but I'll do so and get back to ya.
No, I didn't preform a clean install of the OS and FCP Studio, I installed the upgrade the way is was written and intended to be installed, as an upgrade. I've never captured HDV in any other format other than ProRes from day 1. I tell you what, why don't YOU try to capture in ProRes and see what you come up with, before you start suggesting to people that they should reinstall their OS and NLE from scratch. No I didn't do a clean install, but what difference should that make? That's a whole lot easier and quicker said then done pall! No offense, but it totally irks me when that's the first thing people what to suggest, it's such a PC/Windows mentality!
ProRes is Apples baby, it's not some 3rd party format I've chosen to use in the place of the standard that Apple has provided us. What kind of "system hacks" or you implying? No I haven't installed ANY system hacks! Editing video is my bread and butter, I've spent an awful lot of money purchasing the software/hardware that I need to do my job (i.e tools of the trade) not to mention the countless hours to learn how to to it properly and I certainly don't feel that I should have to look for work-arounds which require me to rename hundreds of captured files to simply add the file extension of .mov to make the software which I've spent so much money for to work properly!
So please, capture some ProRes 422 files and then get back with us okay? Thanks!

Synchronize a playlist: Mac / iPhone - then edit on both units, then what?

Let's say I synchronize my playlist "ABC" in iTunes, between the Macbook and the iPhone.
After that, let's say I add a few songs to the playlist on my iPhone, and do the same thing in Mac and iTunes, what will be the result of the new synchronization? Will all the songs be added together?
I don't really want to try this, since I have an awesome playlist, on both units. Same playlist-name, different songs.
Anyone understand my "problem" here?

In the past, I believe the most-recently edited version of the playlist would take precedence, e.g., if you take ABC+D on iPhone and later ABC+E on Mac, then you'll end up with ABCE. I am not sure though since right now I'm having other issues with syncing playlists...once I get that working I'll test it. (or why don't you create a new test playlist and try it?)

Choosing rows for adding into text file

Hello!
Recordset with several rows per reference.
Need to find references with at least one of four rowreferences.
Not all references include any of the four rowreferences.
Need to sum up all rows of reference except the rows with the four rowreferences and group by customerid
If sum per customerid is above set limit, add a line to textfile, one line per reference, sum of special four rowreferences, sum of all rowreferences
Tried this:
Set s7=rows with one or many of the four rowreferences grouped by reference
For finding out which references are valid for inserting into the textfile
Set s8=sum of all rows per reference grouped by customerid
For getting all data for reference.
Set s9 = all customerid’s
I have tried several do...loop statements, but I cannot get it right.
I tried to move through s9, find matching rows from s8, then add up sum per reference in s8 minus sum per reference in s7.
Then if sum per customerid is more than set limit, add separate rows from s8 of this particular customer
into the file.
What is the best way to solve this ?

There is the sum of all rows except the tax rows and then the sum of all the tax rows.
That did not give me your structure. The results line 150057; 490; 98;... did not match data posted.
I cannot help if I do not have the whole picture.

File folders turn into exec files

On a school iMac, I created folders which contained html, jpg, pdf files and other folders. I copied these folders to my thumb drive (the one I use all the time). When I got home, I put this thumb drive into my iMac (Yosemite OS) to finish the folder transfers. When I found the folders I was looking for, they had turned into exec files. What happened?

We need some clarification here. Specifically, you say:

What turned into "exec" files? The folders, or the files inside them? And when you say they are "exec" files, what exactly are you seeing?
One possibility is that the files you created have all changed to look like this:
If that's the case, then most likely you have somehow created those files without an extension, which means that Mac OS X has no idea what they are. You need to add an extension at the end of the filenames: .html, .jpg, .pdf, etc.
One other possibility, which Tim mentions, is that you have connected this flash drive to a Windows PC that is infected with some kind of malware that has replaced all those files with malicious .exe files. These would not affect your Mac, but would certainly affect the data on the flash drive. Do the filenames end in .exe or .lnk?
If none of that matches what you're seeing, we'll need more details. Screenshots would help. Make a screenshot by following the directions here:

Splitting program into multiple files

I have a looong program. And I would like to split it into 4 files. What else do I have to do, then adding the packagename? Could I call variables from one file, that is declared in another? How? And how do i call methods in another file?

Presumably, you're using Strings and possibly even JTextPanes.
If so, you already have all the syntax you need.
Let's assume that your current class contains all the required functionality. You might want to break that up to make the code more maintainable. So, put all the gui code into GUI.java and then wrap up your data processing methods into a Processor.java file. Both of these should define publilc classes.
But now your GUI class presumably won't compile because you are trying to call methods that don't exist anymore (you've just moved them). So, in you GUI class add a Processor data member (called "dataProcessor"). Instantiate this in the GUI constructor. Now, where you were calling those methods before you need to use:
dataProcessor.someMethod(someString);You'll probably have to play around a little to make everything fit but the art of refactoring is one to be learned early.
I hope this gives you the idea you were looking for.

what am guessing is we have only read and execute permission on that file.. we don't have write permission on that file and the folder where the file is exists .
my Question is , Do we need all permission on File to copy the output to another file... ?
because we are redirecting the output to another folder where we can create the another file and read and write permissions .

How to import original clips edited in After Effects into Adobe Premiere, without the After Effects

What is the quickest and easiest way to bring clips that were edited within after effects into adobe premiere? I just want the original clip as it is cut, without any of the after effects manipulation. I am trying to gather the cuts of a green screen project together that was compiled and edited within Adobe After Effects, so they can be rekeyed. I want to detach all effects work, and just have a straight green screen cut of the original files. Each cut though, is its own compilation. Simply importing to a new sequence doesn't seem to be the answer because I first have to uncheck many effects to find the original clip buried beneath layers of mattes and various effects. I have probably 400 different cuts, and currently my workflow is super slow just searching for the original clip in after effects, looking for the time code, then matching the original clip and timecode into Premiere. Is there a faster an easier workflow?

How to put edited AE clips back into PPro? (CS5.5)

Okay, so, here it goes.
I edit my main footage in Premiere Pro. I recently purchased a denoising software that only is compatible with After Effects, so I have been using the denoiser plugin in After Effects. After I edit my basic video cut in Premiere, I select all of the clips (including audio) in the timeline, and open it in a new AE comp. After it has been opened, I do all of my major video touch ups in AE (such as denoising). Now, when I try to export the project as a Premiere Pro (PP) project and open it in Premiere, it doesn't load the project. It's just an empty sequence. That is not a big deal though, because I tried something else. I tried linking the AE composition from AE to PP which works, but it is very slow and precomposes all of the individual clips into one video clip.
So, just to go over it again, this is what I did: Cut clips in PP > Selected all clips in the timeline of PP and opened them in a new AE comp > Edited the individual clips inside the AE comp w/ effects that are not supported by PP (only AE supports the denoiser effect) > opened the edited AE comp in PP > then the comp came up as a precomposed video clip instead of individual clips.
So, my question is, how do I get the comp from AE to stay as individual clips when I open it in PP in case I need to adjust something? Is there a way to do this? Or should I just do the denoise effect very last?
Two other things:
(1) I noticed that it is extremely slow in PP to render parts of an AE comp... is it just because of the added effects?
(2) I transcode my video footage to ProRes 422 before I bring them into PP. Once I bring the clips into AE and then back into PP (if I figure out how to), will the clips still be the same ProRes codec? I need them to be the same codec due to color grading and effects later on in post.

I select all of the clips (including audio) in the timeline, and open it in a new AE comp.
That's where you messed up. Instead, right click on each clip you want to fix, and choose Replace with After Effects Composition. Then redo your effects.

Some of the film clips copy into the project but others don't. I tried copying the VOB filed onto my hard drive and then changing the file extensions on the VOB files to MPEG but this was no help. Some of the VOB files contain numerous film clips but my software does not appear to be able to recognize them as such. I need to know if replacing my old Premier Elements with the new Version 13 would solve this problem or not. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

What do you have now.....
What computer operating system do you have?
We can go into the finer points of source and your intentions, but for now it would appear that you are using SD 4:3 source media to get to a HD 16:9 result. Lots to discuss in this regard.
What was given to you on the DVD disc? DVD-VIDEO 4:3 or something else?
If DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc, you should expect to find on the disc a folder named VIDEO_TS. That is your target for your video files.
If you were given a DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc, then all you want from it are the video files, specifically
VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, and so on through that series until possibly getting to
VTS_02_1.VOB, and so on. How many files you have beyond the VTS_01_1.VOB file will depend on the size of the DVD-VIDEO.
Does the above scenario apply to you?
The alternative might be someone giving a DVD disc (data disc) which contains just the VTS files mentioned which were copied from
the VIDEO_TS Folder. So, you do not get the whole VIDEO_TS Folder, just the essential video files. Does this scenario apply to you.
I see no need to replace your Premiere Elements 4 with a later version unless you have a huge project and need a later version that will be a 64 bit application running specifically on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit computer.
Consider...Premiere Elements 4 and if you have DVD-VIDEO on DVD....
1. Place the DVD disc in the burner tray
2. Open Premiere Elements 4 and set the project preset for NTSC DV Standard (assuming you are working in a NTSC setup)
3. Go to
Get Media
"DVD, Digital Camera, Mobile Phone, Hard Drive Camcorder, Card Reader"
"Adobe Premiere Elements - Media Downloader" and its Advanced dialog.
Set the Source in the latter dialog for the drive which has your DVD disc inserted in its tray
You should see your VTS_01_1.VOB thumbnail in the "Adobe Premiere Elements - Media Downloader" Advanced dialog.
With this VOB selected, click on Get Media to get the file from there into the project.
Should work fine.
Complications may be involved if the people who processed your footage gave you something other what is described above.
Please review and consider, and then we can plan our project strategy accordingly.

Mpeg streamclip and multi clip editing

I am working on a project in which I have two pieces of video. My main camera for talent and mp4 files from a software that captures video screen movement.. similat to camtasia.
My Talent cam settings are frame size 1440 x 1080i @ 29.97 fps.
I'm trying to run the mp4's through streamclip to make them into a file that will work with my talent cam.
I'm wanting to do multi clip editing but I cannot get the file from streamclip to work with my talent cam. I get warrnings that the frame sizes don't match... so I fix that, then I get warnings that the video rate doesn't match and I get that fixed. then I get warnings that the codec types don't match.
I've used pro res 422, apple dv- dvc ntsc with the same frame and fps settings, AVI settings etc... to many tries to remember them all.
Can anyone tell me a good setting from streamclip that will work to do a multi cam edit?

Have you tried using compressor? Has a lot more controls and it might do the trick.
Wondering if a difference in field dominance could be causing this.
What do you mean by avi settings? avi files are not gonna work in fcp.

I have Video camera movies that are HD format.. I am doing editing work on them using Final Cut Pro, but using DV PAL format for the projects I am editing. When I then tried to copy my work done in FCP Project that's originally DV PAL , into a new FCP Pro

Is there a way by which I can preserve my work done on DV PAL and switch it preserving its proportions, scale and orientation, but on a HD project sequence?? Appreciate your help and advice..

Yes. A couple of ways that might work.
First Way
What you need to do is load one of your hd clips in the viewer and edit into a new HD sequence. Does it display correctionly?
OK, select the clip in the hd timeline and copy (command-c). Now go to the HD sequence with the material that's distorted. Select all (command-a) and paste attributes (option-v) and choose basic motion and distort. That should maek things work. What won't work is anything that you've adjusted as far as basic motion or distort in your PAL sequence. That I'm pretty sure you'll have to redo.
Second Way.
Choose your original PAL sequence and do a Media Manage changing the sequence preset to the appropriate HD paramenters with the media offline. You then should be able to reconnect these clips with your original HD media.
