Workflow administration cannot be launched in portlet

my content server 5.0.4 is deployed on websphere application server 5.1/w2k with workflow. Testing pages for both show all components are ok. However, workflow admin link does not launch correctly in Content Admin portlet. In workflow server log, it says "INFO | jvm 1 | 2004/10/05 18:37:19 | 18:37:18,984 INFO [RequestProcessor] (GET) /workflow//adminProcessTemplates.doINFO | jvm 1 | 2004/10/05 18:37:19 | 18:37:19,203 ERROR [WorkflowExceptionHandler] Workflow WebApp Exception:INFO | jvm 1 | 2004/10/05 18:37:19 | com.plumtree.remote.portlet.NotGatewayedException: Request not gatewayed.INFO | jvm 1 | 2004/10/05 18:37:19 | at com.plumtree.remote.portlet.PortletUserWrapper.getUserID(Unknown Source)"
It looks like a bug to me. Anyone has any idea or experience with this?
thanks for any help.

Hi Naditha ,
Have you checked whether Test Run was de-selected ?
Also the other parameters are
Plan version = 01 (Current plan)
Object type  = WF
OBJECT ID    = Your workflow number
IN the transport section select "transport objects" and "with lock"
Hope this helps .
Thanks ,

  • I need help convincing my workflow administrator on Illustrator PDF presets.

I need help convincing my workflow administrator on Illustrator PDF presets.
I work at a company which prints folding cartons, pressure sensitive labels, and film packaging. Esko Automation Engine 12 is our primary workflow. We use PDF files saved directly out of Illustrator as the primary file format. At times, the size of an art file can get fairly bloated from scaled images, effects, transparency, etc. The workflow and Ilustrator have a hard time dealing with the file size. It has been suggested to use the "export" function under the File Menu and save the art file as a "normalized PDF". I honestly believe Distiller isn't even remotely involved when you do this. I tried to make the case to use the settings in the dialog box which appears when you save a PDF out of Illustrator. I know for a fact that this dialog box isn't any different from what you see in Distiller. From my years of experience with Kodak Prinergy, I know things like bicubic downsampling, etc. will not hurt the file. The workflow administrator thinks otherwise. Can anybody point me in the direction of Illustrator PDF presets that would convince him otherwise?

    Brian,
What is somewhat confusing in your post is your mentioning a capability to export PDF from the File Menu as a normalized PDF file. There is no such option in Adobe Illustrator, at least as it comes directly from Adobe. You may use the File=>Save As dialog to save the file as a PDF file, but PDF is not an option under File=>Export. Furthermore, in terms of the .joboptions provided by Adobe, there is no Normalized PDF joboptions settings.
You mention Esko. Is it possible that you have one of Esko's products installed that provides proprietary plug-ins to Adobe Illustrator? If so, that may be the source of this Normalized PDF option. Maybe some other participant in the is forum knows more about that, but at Adobe, we don't (for better or worse).
You mention problems with file bloat due to “scaled images, effects, transparency, etc.” Are you referring to the Illustrator .AI files or to PDF files created from same? If the issue is the .AI file size, the only thing you can do to fix that is to uncheck the save as compatible PDF file option when saving .AI. In terms of PDF files from Adobe Illustrator:
    (1)  Scaled images should not add anything to a PDF file size unless you take such images and attempt to upres them in Photoshop prior to creating PDF. There really is no benefit to be achieved by such upresing of the images; any competent RIP can do that itself just as well as Photoshop.
    (2)  Transparency only adds to the PDF file size if you create PDF with transparency already flattened, or what I would better describe as ruined. Flattening transparency often causes large raster bitmaps and/or very complex groups of vector objects to be created to simulate transparency in an opaque imaging model (such as is supported by PostScript).
You obviously need to produce PDF that can be accommodated by the rest of your workflow. Since we don't know what that is and whether it conforms to current best industry practices, we cannot make an absolute recommendation for you.
However, generally speaking, the most reliable PDF print publishing workflow would generally require that you create PDF/X-4 using the PDF/X-4 PDF preset from Adobe Illustrator (or for that matter, from InDesign as well). PDF/X-4 supports full ICC color management (including spot colors), the entire PDF imaging model, and live transparency.

  • I have been running Firefox on my PowerPC G5 for years and have just tried to install 4.0. When I attempt to start Firefox, a window opens telling me the application cannot be launched. I have installed it twice with the same result. What gives?

I have a PowerPC G5 quad core Mac with a pre-intel chip. I have been running Firefox successfully for over five years and have used every version in operation during that time. Tonight, I received notice that the latest version of 3.6 was ready to install and that I needed to restart. I did that and was taken to a page telling me that 4.0 was available for downloading and use. So I downloaded the new 4.0 and tried to install it in the typical Mac fashion. After clicking on the dmg, I dragged the icon into my applications folder and onto the dock. But when I click on the icon on the dock, I get the message: The application cannot be launched. 10661
When I try to launch by double clicking in the applications folder, I get the message: You cannot open the application Firefox because it is not supported on this system.
I had to go to your site using Safari of all things! I tried re-installing it with another download, and that one misbehaves in the same way. By the way, in case it matters, I still have 42 GB available on my hard drive and 5 GB of RAM.
There is one other funny thing. The Firefox icon from the disk image has a white circle with the slash through it on top of the fox and world symbol. That is what appears in my applications folder and in my dock. It appears to be saying NOT FIREFOX, as it would indicate in a NO U-TURN sign. What is this all about?

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

  • Launch Error - This file cannot be launched

    Hi all,
I renamed a class file in a flash build and now every time I try to debug my project (cmd+F11) I get an error window saying Launch Error - This file cannot be launched.
I have tried wiping the project and moving the files in to a new one and also restarting FB4 but with no luck. I have also tried setting up a brand new blank project and this will not launch either.
The problem seems to only be with Flash projects as a new Flex project runs ok.
I am running Flash Builder 4 , Flash CS5 on a Mac 10.6.4 and debugging in Google Chrome 7.0.517.41
    Any suggestions?
    Cheers

There is no adl listed in my list of active processes in Activity Monitor. I have tried rebooting my machine, restarting all my software and projects and cleaning my projects. No luck yet.
If I just switch to flash and run the fla directly it works fine so it must be Flex specific.
Cheers for the suggestionsso far . Keep em coming if you have them

    thanks for reading

    kstraitiff,
    Welcome to Apple Discsussions.
According to Kappy: 1. Since you're using 10.3, you need to get rid of the following:
    /Library/Caches/com.apple.LaunchServices.6B.csstore
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.LaunchServices.plist
(where '~' means your Home directory, i.e. '/Users/yourname')
    2. If you have Virex or other virus software installed, try uninstalling it. Be sure to use uninstallers that come with the software because simply deleting the application does not fully uninstall most virus software.
Be sure to shut down for a couple of minutes, then do a restart after the above.

  • Adobe Epic_App cannot be launched at this time?

    Hi there
I installed Adobe InDesign CS3 then CS4 today - when i open Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 - it says Adobe Epic_App cannot be launched at this time. You must launch at least one other suite component (such as Adobe Photoshop) before launching Epic_App.
Even if i open an InDesign document - it still comes up with this message.
    How do i fix this?
    Thanks

    Hi ,
I would like to inform you that this typically associated with a licensing error .You might want to refer the following document even though it is for Acrobat 9 .Please have a look and see if that helps.

  • Adobe Acrobat Profesional Cannot Be Launched At This Time

I keep getting the following error message,
Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot be launched at this time. You must launch atleast one other suite component (such as Adobe Photoshop) before launching Acrobat 8 Professional
    Any ideas?

The problem seems to originate from the 8.1 update. I only have a two users on Acrobat 8 installed with the Creative Suite 3 Design Premium package. One user installed the 8.1 update two days ago and began to get the same error message as most reported here about having Photoshop running the first time he tried to open a PDF. The other has not installed the update and has not had the error or quitting problem. I tried MarkATS' solution, but when I entered our TLP (volume license) serial number for the Creative Suite 3 DP it was rejected by Acrobat. I had to enter a TLP serial specifically for Acrobat 8 which I fortunately had available. I am running the Acrobat 8.1 update, but originally installed from volume licensing media for Acrobat 8 with the aforementioned serial number. The update has worked fine with no problems for me. Thus the problem only seems to be with the suite product. It appears the update may have hindered the application's ability to recognize the Suite registration data.

  • [bridge cc] Mini bridge cannot be launched

Running adobe cc tools on win7
    I have the
With Bridge cc (verified from help/`about bridte') running, I cannot get a minibridge.  The full message reads:
Mini bridge cannot be launched because the
Mini the bridge extension is not installed
I'm not finding any instructions about how to install it, and a few posts here from Oct. indicate it is part of the CC tools.
Further ; I don't see anything on the cc installer/update tool about any such extension.

If it is a panel, how is that panel accessed? It is not amongst the panels listed under Windows menu item.  The only reference I see is under File/Browse in Mini bridge
It should be in your PS Window menu under Window / Extensions / Mini Bridge   If it has checkmark in front it should also be visible as a docked panel. The default workspace for PS CC has both Timeline and Mini Bridge docked as panels at the bottom of your PS screen (however this is for a Mac using the Application Frame, don's have Windows but it should be there by default, certainly if Mini Bridge is listed under extensions and has a checkmark in front)
Now from PS I click `File' / `Browse in Mini bridge'.  At that point a small window pops open with this informaiton:
....Mini Bridge could not be launched because the
....Mini Bridge extension is not installed
That is indeed strange, on my system using the command to browse in Mini Bridge opens the MB panel wether I have it selected or not with a checkmark under Extensions.
So how am I to access the mini-bridge panel?
What have done wrong in the steps above?
The only thing that seems wrong is your install. First check if you have the latest updates for PS and Bridge using your Creative Cloud Application (which also should be up to date).
Then consider both PS and Bridge to reset preferences. for PS hold down shift + option + Command (Win - ctrl) while restart PS and choose delete pref settings file. For Bridge hold down option (Win-ctrl) key while restart Bridge.
If still no luck consider to uninstall using the official uninstallers for Adobe and then use ACC to reinstall. If still in trouble consider the same procedure but then with the use of Adobe Clean Tool.
In all cases first be sure to have a proper back up and also make sure you have your custom settings for PS (actions, brushes, presets etc) as well as for Bridge (export the keyword list also) before uninstall and use of clean tool
here is the info for the clean tool:

I just migrated everything from an old Mac to a new one, but now Acrobat Professional will not launch. I get an error message: "Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot be launched at this time......"

I used "Migration Assistant" to send everything from my old mac to my new which included my copy of Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional. I tried downloading an update but when it asked me to find the version of acrobat to replace it was grayed out and I was unable to select it. My OS is 10.9.4

  • Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot be launched at this time.

    Hi
So i've trying to deploy CS3 Design Standard in our enterprise environment. And one of the deployments, requires that i have to deploy ONLY the Adobe Acrobat Professional component of the CS3 package.
I run the install, and untick Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign etc......so JUST leaving Adobe Acrobat Professional. It installs fine, along with the Shared Components etc.
But when i run Adobe Acrobat Professional, it pops up saying:-
Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot be launched at this time. You must launch at least one other suite component (such as Adobe Photoshop) before launching Acrobat 8 Professional.
Now, as you can see i can't launch another suite component, as i've chosen not to install them. I'm assuming this is required so it can "register" itself. If this is working "by-design" then why does it let me install Adobe Acrobat Professional by itself, if i can't run it????

Simon = The rest of the CS3 package works great in a ThinApp package, doesn't seem to be any performance difference between install types. Plus you have the advantage of no extra registry keys or dll's floating into your system.
Peter = Thanks for the helpful comment, really helps me with this issue. And how is my installation of the product not "as designed".
Adobe give you the option of JUST installing Adobe Acrobat Professional, so if they allow this, surely it's BY DESIGN! The fact it doesn't work by itself means that Adobe should change their design to state the fact you need to install another suite product to allow it to work.
I've also tried packaging a standalone copy of Acrobat Reader Professional using VMWare ThinApp, but it does not work. And i've no problem with this, theres no real way to virtualize a device (i.e the Adobe PDF printer) so i'm fine with that.

  • Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot be launched at this time - why?? Pls help!

Everytime I open a pdf I get the following message...
"Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot be launched at this time. You must launch at least one other suite component (such as Adobe Photoshop) before launching Acrobat 8 Professional".
    What does this mean?
I don't have Photoshop. Does that mean I need to get it to be able to look at pdf's?
Is there anything I can just download without having to buy it?
I have also just downloaded Adobe Reader 9.0, if that info helps?
Please help, I need to work on a pdf for work due tomorrow!!

    Hello,
When you try to open Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional, the application returns the error "Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot be launched at this time. You must launch at least one other suite component (such as Adobe Photoshop) before launching Acrobat 8 Professional."
Please try to do one of the following solutions:
    * Open another Creative Suite 3 application first.
*Open any other Creative Suite 3 application and follow the on-screen instructions to enter a serial number and activate your software. Then open Acrobat 8 Professional.
But if you have MAC OS - Move the Acrobat, Adobe PCD, and Adobe PDF folders.
Quit any Adobe applications that are open.
In the Finder, navigate to /Library/Application Support/Adobe.
Note: This folder path refers to the Library folder at the root level of the startup disk, not the Library folder that is inside a user's Home folder.
Move the following folders to your Documents folder or another safe location:
    Acrobat
    Adobe PCD
    Adobe PDF
Important: Do not delete these folders.
      4.  Open Acrobat 8 Professional.
      5.  Enter your serial number when prompted.
    Hope this one could help.

"Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot be launched at this time. You must launch at least one other suite component..."
This message has been coming up each time I read a PDF page during the past couple of weeks. The FAQ says it occurs when CS3 hasn't been activated, but this isn't the case for me, as I've been running CS3 Web Premium for some time without any issues and I'm up-to-date.
The problem isn't with PDF files stored on my PC but only with those downloaded and viewed in a browser screen (both IE and FF).
If I load PS or any other component prior to reading the PDF I still get the message.
    Any help would be appreciated.
(I'm running CS3 under Windows XP Pro.)

I don't know the answer, but it sounds like you are running Creative Suite. I faintly remember hearing about this before. You might get a quick answer in the Creative Suite forum (http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.3bbf2708/). Bill
