How to enter workflow again after checkout

I just tested how when a content has been released from a workflow, it doesn't enter the workflow again if it was checked out. I read somewhere that a workflow is triggered via a new revision so I was wondering why it didn't (since Checking Out content creates a new revision). How can I make the content enter the workflow again after checking it out? I am using UCM 10g.
My workflow goes like this:
editor checks in content --> approver reviews and approves content --> publisher approves and releases content
after being released, the editor checks out the content and a new revision is created, but the status says "Released" already.

now that I look into it, the field I set for the criteria was now blank! Why didn't it retrieve the data I previously entered into my criteria field?
I actually found a workaround for this, I changed the criteria to ContentID matches id* so all I have to do is define the content ID like "id001" and they will enter the workflow.

According to your description,my understanding is you want to add a new workflow to the completed list item.
a) If yes, then you need to follow the same process attaching the workflow to the list/library and while deploying the workflow you should select the option "Allow this workflow to be manually started.......".
Go to the workflow completed list item and start the workflow which was created newly in the above step.
b) If your query is want to restart the same workflow for completed list item then,
You need to go to the workflow completed list item-->workflows-->start/click on the workflow again.
To do this, you might have selected the option "Allow this workflow to be manually started......." while attaching the workflow to the list.

Issue in PO Release Workflow WS20000075

Hi All,
We have activated Std. PO release Workflow WS20000075 for two step release levels. When New PO created with release strategy this workflow will trigger and send workflow items to Agents to release Purchase Order. Up to this it's working fine.
But the problem occurs to trigger Workflow again after PO price change. We have release change indicator with 5% variance of price. That means when some one changes the Price or Quantity and if the total values variance more than 5% of price variance then Release strategy will activate again in PO. But in this case Workflow WS20000075 not sending workflow items again to the agents.
Is there any workflow setting causing the issue?

As far I can understand in SWEL event trace for the second time the event is getting triggered but there is no appropriate receiver for that event. Can you please specify the event name. If it is any event other than RELEASE for eg lets say if it is CHANGE, in the workflow WS20000075 header you will have to bind the workflow with this event and activate linkage for this particular event as well(without changing the previous configuration for PO release event). So that the workflow is triggered for this event as well..

Trying to set up an out of the box SP 2010 approval workflow that doesn't generate warnings or errors

I have a custom list for which I want an approval workflow. There is only going to be one stop for the approval - creating an item is a request to a person for a new code to be created.
If I do not turn on content approval, then I get the message:
The workflow could not set content approval status. Enable content moderation for this list and run the workflow again.
When I turn on content approval, then when the users go to the custom list to create an item, they see this message:
Items on this list require content approval. Your submission will not appear in public views until approved by someone with proper rights.
Surely I am missing something obvious. I just want a standard SP 2010 form without warnings to gather info from the user, then to create a workflow task that sends a person an email that they need to approve or reject the request.
The second message is going to cause questions from the users. The person who has to approve the tasks wants to be able to see what requests are awaiting approval vs approved vs rejected.
Is this something that is not doable in SP 2010?

the "Approval Process" step is designed for manipulating the "Moderation Status" (Content Approval status) of a list item... What you are seeing is DESIGNED behavior.
When Content Approval is enabled, content changes are not made public until they have been approved. The Approval workflow sends the email to a manager, who is supposed to approve or reject the change.
If Content Approval is DISABLED, there is no point to the workflow.

How to schedule a workflow for recurring executions: The solution

Scheduling a workflow for recurring execution has been long awaited in WFA, perhaps from 2.0 time. The following document shows how to get it done. I've also explained the logic behind it. It’s very simple to use, meets every requirement which one can have from a scheduler and of course highly flexible. Let's go!! The Real stuff. What is this? Is this actually a scheduler? No. This is actually a command in your workflow, but a special 'magical' command. This 'magical' command logic is built using the answers for the following questions: Can a workflow be scheduled for a delayed execution in a future time? Yes, but only one execution instance. If you want the next execution, execute the workflow again providing the same set of inputs and the execution date/time.During workflow execution, can a command inside a workflow get to know what is the name of the workflow? YesDuring workflow execution, can the command know what is the job execution id? YesIs there any programmatic interface available to know what are the user input provided or a particular job execution? YesCan a command inside a workflow trigger another workflow? Yes.Can a command inside the same workflow trigger itself? Absolutely yes. I've ticked all boxes needed to build such a solution. The solution is to make the workflow a smart workflow, so smart that it can schedule itself for the next execution. It no longer needs any other task scheduler to tigger it. WFA provides a large set of REST APIs for other 3rd part SW integration. But I also can make good use of these APIs to make smart workflows. I have always believed that WFA should not only be seen as a framework for automating Storage boxes or server, but just about any task( inside a computer of course) which is done manually. WFA is an awesome product indeed. So this is a command called "Workflow Scheduler" which you can put in your workflow as another command. Prerequisites: You need PowerShell 3.0 on your WFA server. I certainly could have done it for PoSH2.0 as well, but life for web interfaces using PowerShell is so much easier with Posh3.0. Posh3.0 is a big jump from 2.0. WFA is fully supported to work on Posh3.0. Its available by default in Win2012, Win2008 can be upgraded, Win2003 users can't use it. Add credentials of a WFA Admin/Architect in you WFA itself with Name/IP: localhost Match: ExactType: OtherName/IP: localhostUsername: <WFA Admin/Architect Username>Password: <User Password> 3. Minimum WFA version 2.2. This is only needed for Importing the dar. I've provided the command code in text too. The command code is the real deal. How to use it? If you have a workflow which you want for recurring executions, just add this command "Workflow Scheduler" in it. The command takes parameters for the workflow execution intervals. For example minsInterval for executing this workflow every x minutes, or daysInterval for executing the workflow etc.Now just like a normal workflow execution execute this workflow deciding what is the trigger time. Example: Suppose you want the execution every day at 10:00 PM.So provide daysInterval = 1 And execute the workflow for a delayed execution at 10:00 PM. You can pick the day to start as you wish. The workflow will execute at 10:00 PM and when this execution reaches our magical command "workflow scheduler", this command will trigger the same workflow with same set of inputs for the next execution at 10:00 PM tomorrow. And so on an so forth. I’ve attached a very simple example workflow here to help you understand. An Example of a workflow scheduled for recurring execution Daily at 11:30 PM starting 10-March-2015 How to stop/suspend this recurring execution? Easy. You just abort the next scheduled job execution in Execution=> Execution Status. The cycle will stop. How to resume it? Easy again. Just resume the same aborted job. The cycle restarts. Can I change the schedule execution time? Yes. After aborting the current execution, you can resume the same workflow at a new time. Execution interval can't be modified as you can't change the command parameters. But the recurring execution now can occur at a new time. Where or which position to place this “workflow scheduler” command in your workflow? At the beginning ? At the end? Or somewhere in the middle. This completely depends on your choice. See some below cases. You don't want the next job execution scheduling to happen if any of the commands in my current workflow execution fails: Put command “workflow scheduler” in the end. It will trigger the schedule of the next job execution only when all real original commands of your workflow have passed. else not. You want continuous job executions irrespective of the workflow command failures: Put it in the beginning. It will trigger the schedule for next execution before any of the actual command begin executing. You want an approval before the next execution job is scheduled: Add an approval point before the comamnd. So it’s all left to you. Can an operator decide the execution schedule? Yes, but which workflows will be available to him/her for this recurring execution will have to be decided by the designer. This is a good thing to have as it serves for access control in a way. The Architect/Admin can now restrict which workflow can be put for recurring executions. Operators can’t execute just any workflow available to him for automatic recurring execution. And the workflow designer can also choose which scheduling parameter is to be made a variable for the operator. For example the designer want the operator to schedule a given workflow only for weeks Interval and not months or days i.e. he/she can only chose to schedule for weekly, biweekly etc. executions and nothing else. For this the designer can define a User-Input variable only for weeksInterval parameter. It’s Done. You want workflow execution to be scheduled either for daily or once in 2 days but not any other. You can restrict this. Or he/she wants to give full freedom to the operator make his/her own decision about scheduling, he defined user-input variable for all scheduling parameters. The workflow designer wants weekly schedule but the day should not be a weekday: You can even do this. Is this flexible enough for my requirements? I’ve attached the very command code. You can modify the command as per your requirements. Suppose you want daily execution of a certain workflow at 10:00 PM but skip a day of execution if the day is a Monday. Modify the code check for the day and add another day if it’s a Monday. Its posh code and highly readable. So you can see how this can be used in a variety of ways. This is the beauty of a programmatic solution. Its highly flexible, it allows users to design solution based on their requirements. Flexibility is the heart & soul of WFA. Thats why I like it. I have a workflow but I don't want to modify it by adding a new command in it. Can I still use this solution? Yes but with WFA 3.0 on wards. WFA3.0 allows to create modular workflows. Create a parent workflow with you actual workflow as a child workflow in it. Add our “workflow scheduler” command too. So now you don't need to touch your existing workflow. Workflow Error Message: System Account - The Workflow could not set Content Approval Status

This is the first time I try an approval workflow. I am using a template in MS Word and assigned an approval workflow to it. The approval workflow is only going to one person in this case.
When I start the work flow the following 3 error messages show up:
Workflow Error Message: System Account - The Workflow could not set Content Approval Status. Enable content moderation for this list and run the workflow again.
Workflow Error Message: System Account - The e-mail message cannot be sent. Make sure the e-mail has a valid recipient.
Workflow Error Message: System Account - The e-mail message cannot be sent. Make sure the outgoing e-mail settings for the server are configured correctly.

For the first error: Did you set Content Approval in the workflow? If so, see if you have it in the versioning settings of the list settings.
For the second error: double check your recipient is set up as being valid. Did you type in the email address or is it referring to a people picker field? also, make sure that in the workflow for the email that you actually populated it in the
To: field.
for the third error: I suspect that either your farm is not configured for email. Or, this error is a knock on from the second error. If you get the second error rectified it may clear this error. If not then double check the email settings
for your farm.

2010 Review Approval Workflow Error - Outlook cannot open a new form

Hi,
I set up an Approval - SharePoint workflow on a document library list in a webpart. When the approver got the email and tried to approve from outlook, she received the following error. She has approved documets in the past for the same page.
Can anyome please help me troubleshoot this? So much appreciated!
Word Error:

Outlook Error:
Outlook cannot open a new form. To open the file, access to the folliwng form template is required

can she open the approval form in web browser instead of Outlook?
According to the error message, it seems that the user does not have permission for the file http://<site url/_catalogs/wfpub/Approval - SharePoint 201o/Review Approval_Task_1033.xsn.
can she open see this file in SharePoint designer 2010? that is, open the site with SharePoint designer and navigate to All Files->_catalogs->wfpub->Approval - SharePoint 201o. If she can not see the file there, ask the workflow creator to publish
the workflow again. I had experienced strange issue in SharePoint designer 2007 and solved by check out all the workflow files and check in again

How to trigger workflow for already created purchase order ?

let me clear my scenario first . i have 1 purchase order whose workflow is not triggered . means it is showing me message no workflow that have already worked for this object.i have created 1 more purchase order taking reference of this purchase order means both are same same message for this po also. it was happening because event linkage for the business object bus2012 is not activated but now it is enabled and i have created third purchase order with reference to above po means this third po is also same as above 2 no change other than po number but for this workdflow is getting triggered . now i want to trigger workflow for orignal first po but for my first po it is showing me same message that no workflow that have already worked for this object. what i have to do to trigger workflow for this po. i have performed this steps in test system. i have workflow number

      You can trigger the workflow from SWUE.Enter bus2012 and created for object type and event respectively.
      Click object key button where enter the purchase order number which have been already created.
      But, why do you want to trigger the workflow again for already created purchase order ?

Workflow in MSS

Hello All,
I have been trying to configure workflow for use in PCR (Personnel Change Request) forms in MSS.
I think I have already configured workflow, for the most part, but I am getting errors in the form of emails after initiating PCRs.
For a PCR without approval, I am getting the following error:
Executed Action: Exception Occurred
Error Message: Error when starting work item 000000002021 Message no. SWP085
This is followed by several other errors.
Can anyone guide me as to the reason of this error please?

I went to SWU_OBUF and started the synchronization.
However, I got no confirmation message or any kind of acknowledgment. I tried the workflow again but I still get the same error messages.
What do you mean by re-activating the workflow?

To Launch Workflow Notifications repeatedly

Hi All,
We have created a new workflow process and are trying to launch it for specific task types in Service Requests. The notifications are getting kicked off for the first time. But, when I want to launch the workflow again for the same task it's not working. However if i change some attributes with in the task like owner,task type or assignee, it's launching the workflow. Can someone help me out how i can launch notifications multiple times without changing anything in the task.

Hi,
Sounds to me like the creation is erroring (but the error is suppressed), or there is some kind of logic in place that stops the generation of a duplicate Workflow process.
What are you using to derive the item key? May be that duplicate item keys are being generated, which the system won't allow.

Workflows Do Not Start - "Not Supported in Windows Authentication Mode"

I have a publishing site that is using Kerbos authentication. Everything on the site works fine.
I created a simple workflow in SPD 2013 and published this to the site without any problems. However when I try to start the workflow with the account of a user who is a member of the site it will not run. In the browser an alert pop's up
saying "Something went wrong. To try again, reload the page and then start the workflow again".
In the SharePoint log's I find the following:

This is a dev environment where everthing is setup on a single box, and I registered the workflow service in HTTP mode (which I allowed during the installation of workflow manager).

You haven't changed it to Claims there, you have changed NTLM to Kerberos. I guess your web app was already claims based because in SP 2013 we have to use Powershell to convert classic to claims and not from GUI.
When I click the workflow on a item to start in manually I get the error:
"Something went wrong. To try again, reload the page and then start the workflow"
In ULS I get the not supported exception.
It seems 2013 platform workflows aren't supported in classic mode web applications:

But I am not able to publish 2010 mode workflows in the classic web application, SPD 2013 throws error while publishing:

Can't use "Copy Finder Items" after "Run Workflow"

Create a simple Automator workflow:
Set just 1 action "Create Thumbnail Images" and save it. I called it "wf1.workflow".
Now create the second workflow with 3 actions:
"Get Specified Finder Items" action (choose an image file here).
->
"Run Workflow" action (specify "wf1.workflow" as a workflow, select "Return workflow results", check "Wait for workflow to finish").
->
"Copy Finder Items" (specify any location)
Now run the workflow. Everytime I get an error.
The log:
Get Specified Finder Items completed;
Run Workflow (wf1) completed;
Copy Finder Items failed
* -[NSAppleEventDescriptor count]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x113185d0
The same workflow works fine in Tiger, so I think there is a bug in Leopard Automator.
Am I right? Is there any workaround?

I can confirm I got the same results for the workflow, just don't know why as of yet. And then I somehow got it to work.
I checked the results for each action and they didn't seem unusual. The results of "Get Specified Finder Items" is a single parenthesized text string representing the file's path. The results of "Copy Finder Items" is an alias, but that should be okay.
So, deleted the thumbnail from the first run, and then ran the workflow again. It got stuck on "Run Workflow" and hung for a while. So I stopped it and removed "Run Workflow", and then added it in again. Presto! It worked, sort of. It didn't copy the thumbnail, instead it copied the original file. I'd forgotten to reset it to "Return workflow results". So, it seems to be something to do with returning the workflow results instead of the action input.
I'm going to do some more testing.

Workflow-step processing the form doesnt work anymore

i have an issue with all my forms on the SAP Portal.
As of late i can fill in a form, send it to be approved, they can be approved then send to the processor.
Now here is where it stops working. This step, process form, results in a ever spinning "wait" button.
Steps i took :
Downloaded latest version of the ZCI(js_container) and implemented that on the ADS. ( Was in a SAP Note 1077953)
Had an version of the form from a few months back, used that one, workflow worked again. Aftermaking one change on the form and activating it, problem was back. (Hardly a good option since they are a few months old but at least that proved it worked before)
Delete the form and recreate it, wich results in a working workflow again, however, when i do this the form "flickers". The flickering part goes away when i use the SFP_ZCI_UPDATE transaction, but then the workflow error comes back.
I know it got something to do with the version of js_container i use but i cant seem to solve this.

You probably need to have your buttons' code at frame 180 instead of any earlier frame. If the 15 buttons end at frame 180, but the code for them is at frame 1, then when you move beyond frame 180 you essentially lose the buttons, and if you move back to frame 180, there is no code there to assign functionality to the buttons.
