I can't get the short URL to work within a workflow. There is something with the combination of letters and numbers and other characters that when the link gets created, it fails.
Short URL just comes from the Portal.

Workflow and Portal Short URLs

Hi all,
I have created a custom link for a workflow that uses a portal short URL. if I run the URL by itself, then it works fine. When I add it to the URL link in the workflow, it doesn't show up in the workflow e-mail. Something is confusing the program and changing code so the URL doesn't get added properly. I know that it works if I use say a direct link to an iView (using the URL if you were to click the Preview button when viewing the iView in the Portal Content Directory).
Anyone have any suggestions on how to get this to work? I like the anonymity of the short URLs.

Portal, WorkFlow and Email

Hi,
Has anyone sucessfully implemented email notification through Workflow in Portal Release 2?
I logged a TAR and support claim they cannot track down any documentation.
Any help is much appreciated.

Not sure if you want a email or SAP mail. Can you clarify the above statement?
If you want to send a notification mail which needs to be displayed in UWL
Search for keyword SONIC in this forum and blogs section. You will get the solution
If you want to send a notification email to the email id of the user
You need to determine the email id of the user and use the sendmail step to send email (your SCOT settings need to be condigured by your BASIS team)

Time mismatch between BSP workflow and UWL in portal

Hi All,
I am using a portal application where ,for the same work iteam ,BSP workflow and UWL in portal are displaying two different date and time.
Has anybody come accross the same issue?

There might be some mismatch of attributes between BSP workflow and UWL configuration.Please check the UWL configuration file and check the display attribute name. Please check UWL configuration guide for more details

well both mentioned are for connecting Applications. In my point of view there is only a difference in...
SAP Business Workflow:
connects Applications via Tasks across SAP-Systems
ccBPM:
with help of PI it should connect Applications via Adapter and is only message-driven!
am I right?!
Can someone please explain how to implement Business Workflow in SAP-Systems?! I am only aware of ccBPM!

Workflow and WD integration

Hi,
We are implementing Workflow and Webdynpro ABAP integration.Employee submits competences from portal, this triggers an approval task to the manager .Manager will approve the task from worklist and when he clicks on task, Web dynpro application opens up where he has to approve or reject accordingly.
We have approve and reject buttons in Web dynpro and we have used User Decision Step type in Workflow to open the Web dynpro application.User decision step decisions are mapped to Web Dynpro approve/reject actions.
So we are able to successfully launch the Web dynpro and perform the actions.But problem is the rest of Wrokflow after User Decision step is not getting executed. Workflow is getting stopped at this point.
We have tried using FM's SAPI_WAPI_DECISION_COMPLETE and SAP_WAPI_WORKITEM_COMPLETE.
Both these FM.s complete the User Decision step but does not execute rest of Workflow.
Please help me if you have come across this scenario.

Hello Archana !
         After user decision step, you have maintained the step that updates database as immediate step.
         Have you tested this step separately ? If it have yielded successful results, check the binding for the immediate step after user decision.
         Also, check the workflow log whether the containers for the step that updates the database are populated with required values.
         Is the method that updates the database is custom method ?

MDM workflows and UWL

Hello,
We have recently upgraded ourselves to MDM 5.5 SP4 Patch pack 4. This patch pack was intended to solve an earlier problem we faced when integrating Universal Worklist (UWL) with MDM.
Earlier the UWL would return error in case the MDM workflows had worklfow jobs which the user had to not "Accepted". If the user "Accepts" it using MDM Data Manager, then the record would appear on the UWL.
I wish to know how we can configure the "Accept" button on the UWL, so that the user sees all the "Available" workflows and can "Accept" the workflow job which he plans to work upon.

Status of R/3 Workflow in Portal

Is it possible to display the request number and status of the R/3 workflow in Portal? Do we need any custom development or we can call a transaction for it?

I'm not entirely familiar with the SAP portal solution, but once the service is published through ITS it is accessible through any browser, so any portal not just from SAP should be able to display it.
One big benefit of having 640 over earlier versions is to have one sap instance serve the web pages to your browser.
The actual human interface of "web-enabled" transactions is very similar to standard sapgui, so it looks like the old transaction, but is often slower and more clunky.

MDM Workflows and UWL in CE 7.11

Hello,
I am working with MDM Workflows and UWL in CE 7.11.
For configuring the UWL, we need to set some property of MDM Result Set iView to
connect and display MDM workflows for an MDM repository in EP 7.0.
But in CE 7.11 the concept of Result Set iView is replaced by ResultSet component which we use as a used component in the custom wrapper (DC).
How to use ResultSet component to configure UWL in CE 7.11 ?

Do we have any kind of iview or workflow in portal

Hello,
Our company is trying to build seperate application for New user request goes to manager, then functional team lead, then to security to create a new user. Based on the position of new user, manager will allocate Tcode which he/she can use and functional team specifies the roles. To have this approval process in place, do we have any functionality availble in R3 or portals, to avoid to manage seperate application for this process.

Hi,
To meet the requirement you'd need to create a custom automated process or buy a 3rd party solution for this. This should however be relatively easy to develop with SAP's tools.
There are two options for the implementation, SAP Business Workflow and Guided Procedures (NW2004s onwards). If you are doing the process company-wide and no other legacy systems are related, I recommned creating a new workflow template for this with Business Workflow. ISR can be used as the data framework as Krishna suggests.
As ready to be used building blocks, you can use the standard SU01 and PA20/PA30 transactions as parts of the process. The approval and transaction code entry screens would however need to be custom developed.

When using approval workflow and templates, does it exist a workaround of how we may solve the issue where we have to set approval and templates for each KM folder in a hierarchic structure?
Could it be possible to set these settings for a topfolder and inherit the settings for the siblings?
