Workflow between Photoshop 4 and CP5

I made in PS4 a image with 8 layers, each layer represents a dot on a map.
After importing into CP5 I animated the layer.
I want now to make minor changes in PS4 to adjust the elements of the animation, lets say change the color.
Is there a workflow that I might open with PS the layers I have already animated in CP5?
And then continue the work in CP5
Is that a feature with PS5 or is there a way with PS4 and CP5?
When I select in CP5 a layer, I see the Linkage/path to the image and a button Aktualisation, but both are greyed.
So there might be a way to actualise the modified layer content layer by layer?

Hello,
There is a difference between CP4 and CP5. In both cases the layers are imported and converted to PNG-graphics, but in CP4 you can only edit layer per layer whereas in CP5 (if you have the eLearning suite 2) you can edit the source file. But in both cases the changes will be reflected immediately. I just tried your workflow with CP5 and Ps4 and I was able to edit a layer that had an effect applied to it (hope it is that what you mean by animating?). The changes were immediately reflected in the Library and on the stage. I did change the color (applied a Black/White filter) and erased part of the image and that worked well. I do have both eLearning suite 1 (with Ps4) and 2 installed, but CP5 and Ps4 are not in the same suite of course.
Of course you are using German version, but still I'm puzzled by your 'Linkage path and a button Actualise'. This is what I'm seeing in the Library:
The green button means that there is synchronisation between the original PS-file and Captivate. Are we talking about the same versions?

  • Is there a good workflow between LR2.6 and PSE8?

Is there a good workflow between LR2.6 and PSE8? I am new to PSE and would like to use it as a secondary editor but continue to use LR to manage my photos. I read that PSE8 will handle raw format but can not get LR to export other than TIF, JPG and PSD. I woiuld appreciate tips fro others doing the same.

I noticed with one of my two LR2.6/PSE8 installations, that LR did not pick up PSE8 automatically as installed. I had to add the key
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe
with two values to the registry (obviously I'm a WinXP user).
The attached .txt file embedded in the .zip shows the key and the two values needed in my case. To add the values to a registry, extact the .txt file from the .zip, remove the .txt extension from the name to make it a .reg file and double click it (at your own risk!).
After adding them, LR would show Edit in Adobe Photoshop Elements ... as an option, which it would not before.

  • The difference between photoshop eps and illustrator eps

Before installing snow leopard, Quark Xpress could distinguish between photoshop eps and illustrator eps files when a file needed to be modified. Now all it does is open files in only one item of software (depending on which you have told it to open files in). It's very inconvenient
    Anyone got any ideas?

It sounds like you may have assigned EPS files to open in a particular app. That causes anything ending in .eps to open in that app, and the OS ignores the rest of the UTI (Uniform Type Identifiers) data.
About the only way to fix it is to clear the LaunchServices database. Close all running applications. Open the Terminal and copy/paste the following line and press Enter:
/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchSe rvices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user
Close the Terminal and immediately restart. The OS will build a new database based on the installed applications. EPS files created by a particular application should now open in that app.

Hi I have the old photo shop elements 10 on my computer and want to update and was wondering what the differences between photoshop, lightroom and photoshop elements are?
Also when I upgrade does it have to be with a monthly membership or can I just purchase the product out right like you use to be able?

You cannot "update" from what you have to any of the applications you mention. It will have to be a straight purchase or subscription at full price.
Photoshop is a professional level application that makes no apologies for its very long and steep learning curve.
Lightroom is all about volume, and very light editing.

    Hi LarryMeikle
The biggest difference between Photoshop CS6 and Photoshop CC is that Photoshop CC is subscription-based--you have to subscribe to Adobe's Creative Cloud service to use it.  Also, Photoshop CC includes new features that were not in Photoshop CS6.
Let us know if that helps.
    Thanks!

  • What is the different between Photoshop element and Photoshop CS 6?

What is the different between Photoshop element and Photoshop CS 6?
Which version is latest Photoshop CS 6 or Photoshop CS 8?
Can Photoshop CS 6 & 8 compatible with Window 7 or Window 8.1?
What is the different between Photoshop Element and CS 6 ?

They are two entirely different and separate applications, each one with its own separate and independent development and engineering teams.
Photoshop is a professional level application that makes no apologies for its very long and steep learning curve. It has a bunch of features that are absent in Elements.
Elements, on the other hand, is a simplified application lacking much of the power and refinements of Photoshop proper, but it has hand-holding features designed to appeal to amateurs and beginners.
If your needs are not complicated, Elements may just be the ticket for you.

  • Compatibility between Photoshop CS4 and Lightroom 5 on a Mac

    Hi,
    A beginners question:
I am about to buy a Canon EOS 1200D Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II Lens. I am currently trying out Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5. I have Ps CS4 and I am thinking of buying Lr 5 in the future after the trial and I want to work with RAW photographs in the main.
Are there any compatibility issues that I should know about with the software versions I have/might buy and the RAW images taken by this model of camera? I need to have the answer(s) to this question before I buy the camera and the correct software.
For your information, I intend using a late 2013 MacBook Pro with a retina screen and 16 Gig RAM.
    Many thanks,
    David
    (Brighton, UK)

The EOS 1200D was first supported in Camera Raw 8.4 and Lightroom 5.4
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
Camera Raw 8.4 is only compatible with Photoshop CS6 and newer
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
So you'll be fine with Lightroom 5.4 or later.
However PS CS4 is not compatible with Camera Raw 8.4 and never will be. So you'll either have to upgrade to CS6 or join the Cloud.
Or you can use the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all EOS 1200D Raw files to DNGs then edit the DNGs in CS4

  • Smart Objects between Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver while managing the version in Vesion Cu

Ok, so the title of this post sounds confusing. First off, I created a graphic in Illustrator CS3. It is to be used on a web page created in Dreamweaver CS3. I want to be able to streamline the editing process by using the Smart Object linking feature between Dreamweaver and Photoshop CS3.
Obviously, the problem is, I cannot link the Photoshop source to Dreamweaver because the source is not a Photoshop file, it is in Illustrator. The obvious solution to that is to export the Illustrator file as a Photoshop file. The problem with that is, I want to maintain the source in Illustrator and make edits in Illustrator.
So, my solution was to place the Illustrator file in Photoshop and make the Illustrator file a Smart Object in Photoshop. Then link that Photoshop file to the Dreamweaver page. So, basically, Photoshop is just the link between Dreamweaver and Illustrator. It works well! I click the little edit button in Dreamweaver abd it calls up the file in Photoshop. Then I double-click on the Smart Object layer in Photoshop and the source comes up in Illuistrator.
Now, here is the problem. To add to the confusion, I maintain versioning in Version Cue. So whenever I change the Illustrator file, I check it in to Version Cue. The Illustrator file I linked to in Photoshop is the local file on my computer. This file is syncronized with the version of the file that gets uploaded to Version Cue. This may sound complicated, but to see how I did it is pretty straight forward.
My assumption was, when I double clicked on the Smart Object layer in Photoshop, I would get the local copy of the Illustrator file to edit. But, that wasn't the case. Problem is, I got a temp file of the Illustrator graphic and NOT the original source file I linked to in Photoshop.
I can still edit the temp file and have those changes automatically made in Photoshop and then update the image in Dreamweaver. BUT, when I got to check in the new edits of the Illustrator file to Version Cue, it wants to create a new file and not rev-up to the new version of the original file. That's because the file I'm checking in is NOT the original file, it is a temp file.
Does anyone else use a workflow like this? If so, how do you do it?

Ok, so far I have come up with this solution. Usually after editing the Illustrator file I would check it in. But, as mentioned, I can't just do that because the file I'm editing is the temp file and not the original file syncronized with Version Cue.
So, instead of using Check-In when I'm done, I can use Save As... I can then overwrite my local file that is syncronized with Version Cue. That will save the new file as the correct name and automatically check it into Version Cue as the next version of the correct file.

  • Color issues between photoshop files and PDF's

i create a lot of PDF's from photoshop photographic files in order to email to clients for review. when i look at the PDF's, the colors look flat and dull and dark compared to the original photoshop files (I'm using CS3 and Acrobat Professional 8.0). I have the color space settings the same in both (ProPhoto RGB). I usually do the "save as smallest file size" so the PDF is emailable (there are often many pages, created from photoshop contact sheets). There is no option in Bridge to synchronize the color settings between the creative suites because i don't have all the suite applications. i've tried saving the PDF with the "PDF/X-3" option, but that doesn't seem to work either. is there something i'm missing?

    Yeah - don't do that!
I would recommend you check with the Photoshop support area for more details...

  • Character animation workflow between AE, PS, and PP. Help!

I just finished my first animation test. Please check here:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GN7Xjzxi568
    My general workflow... (Creative Suite 5 on a 2011 27" iMac 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i5, 4 GB RAM, 1 TB 7200rpm HD, AMD Radeon HD 6770M w/ 512 MB)
The character is created in PS. I draw the character and then cut out each body part as a separate layer to make a puppet for animation in AE. Since I am making my characters in PS, I need very large files because I may want a close up on the characters face for instance. The .psd that I import into AE is around 7000x7000 file.
As you can see in my video, my backgrounds are video. I am using a Canon 5DII shooting 24fps @ 1080p.
Let's just say I had many, many issues getting the video above to work. I don't want to recount what I did as it was most likely the wrong way to do it.
My question is, what should my workflow be?
Should I cut the background video in Premiere Pro, and then do a dynamic link between PP and AE, do my animation on top of the cut video sent from PP, and then send it back to PP after I'm done?
ALSO, the 18 second video above took around 2 hours to export. My final output is always 720p, so should I be batch converting all my video before hand to 720p as it will make editing and exporiting a lot faster? Will adding RAM to my computer make rendering/exporting faster, or will that just give me general performance increase? It's only about $100 to upgrade to 16GB of RAM and I should probably get on that. Or is rendering/exporting only reliatn on the CPU/GPU?

My good friend Angie Taylor is one of the best at this style of animation and she has put up a bunch of free tutorials. You can find them with a quick Google search. This is one of my favorites. It shows you how to tie all of the body parts to a single control layer so that you can simplify the animation procedure and speed up your workflow. You should also check out her blog.

  • I'm trying to understand the difference between Photoshop Elements and Lightroom software.

Does one have things the other does not?

    Hi,
Lightroom is to manage photos and produce derivative images without ever modifying an original file. Its processing functionality has a narrow feature-set covering the most common needs of professional photographers whereas Elements is a simpler yet powerful photo manipulation tool. Elements is designed to satisfy the needs of photo enthusiasts who like to manipulate images.
You can also go through the thread to understand the basic difference between PSE and Lightroom.
    Check if this helps.
    Thanks,

  • What is the relation between photoshop cs4 and atkogl32.dll?

    Hi.
Some times -not always- my photoshop cs4 Extended Edition, crash.
However, if I disable OpenGl function, photoshop works perfectly.
Of course: I have up to date the graphic card drives.
Every crash, appears a magic word:atkogl32.dll.
Uncle google says that atkogl32.dll is relating with Asus.
    Could you please help me?
    Thanks in advance.
My graphic card: Asus EAX1650XT (256mb).
    MOBO: Asus P5W DH Deluxe.
OS: Windows XP professional edition service pack 2.
    Processor: Core 2 duo E6320.
    Greetings from México.

    Hi, freeagent.
    Thanks for answering to me.
Do you advice me to throw out all 3rd party plugins?
Well... I only have 3: niksoftware color efex Pro, Viveza and Grain surgery.
    They work very good.
    Another option?
    I am sad...
PS cs4 is an amazing program. It opens itself in 3.4 seconds.
Of course: it is faster than cs2...
    Thanks in advance.

  • Targa alpha differences between Photoshop 7 and CS3

We're using Targa images for games work and need precise control over alpha levels.
In Photoshop 7, it seems that grey levels in the alpha channel are transferred directly to that Targa. For example, a grey level of 50% in the alpha channel produces an alpha value of 128 in the Targa file, as you would expect.
In Photoshop CS3, I'm getting 105 for 50% grey. And in order to get 128 I have to set my Photoshop colour to #959595.
This is a serious incompatibility for us. We can no longer generate correct alpha using Photoshop gradients. Also, some of us are using 7 and some CS3, and we need automation to work! There seems to be some sort of curve being applied to the alpha.
Firstly, does anyone else see this? I'm beginning to doubt my sanity.
Is there a way to fix it? When I say 128 I want 128!
(I've searched the forums and knowledgebase for "targa alpha" and Google for "photoshop targa alpha" and turned up nothing relevant.)

progress, I know that the values are often the same when you look at them in Photoshop, but they are not stored in the TGA as those values. Also, because the range 0-255 for alpha is mapped through a colour management curve, the values are NOT always preserved by save/open, but rounded.
Proof: using colour settings "North America General purpose 2" make a small (e.g. 32x32) image with white background. Make an alpha channel. Set your foreground colour to 62, 62, 62. Fill the alpha channel. Save as TGA, open, check the alpha channel. It's now 61, 61, 61.
If you save a TGA with alpha channel 61 grey, then try to change it to 62, then save it, you get an identical file.
But really the point is this: alpha is not colour. It is transparency. It should not be subject to colour management. You say "the visual is maintained" but alpha is transparency, not colour, and the visual is _not_ maintained if it is transformed through colour management. This is because we are trying to manipulate images where "128 alpha" means exactly 50% transparency, as you would expect. But with Photoshop this is not what you get _in_the_file_.
Ramón, if Chris means that Photoshop writes "128" in the file for "grey 128" in the alpha channel then he's wrong, as shown by my hex dumps earlier in this thread. This is why I wonder what he means.

  • Web design workflow between Dreamweaver, Muse and Reflow?

Do these 3 programs fit together in some kind of smooth workflow or does each program represents a different workflow based on the designer vs developer involvment on a project? I guess Im just confused why adobe has 3 programs for designers to create websites in?

PLEASE ADOBE READ BELOW, and fulfill this designer wish
Edge Reflow is really amazing. It's an huge tool to create responsive webdesign. Insanely great, fun and designer oriented! I love it!
Muse is really terrific. Amazing. Another huge tool to create website for a designer! I love it too.
But the question is:  why you in Adobe waste time and smart developers to develop a single app like Edge Reflow instead integrate it natively in MUSE ????
I think Edge Reflow app is a not sense. Really!
Build responsive website in Edge Reflow is great, but you can't add animation, plugin etc.
Build a website with html 5 animation, plugin, etc. is astounding in Muse but you can't build a real responsive website: only useless and ridiculous versions for tablet, phone, to point to specific url...things of 10 years ago...).
What the sense to have the useless Muse's Tab "Desktop" "Tablet" and now "Phone" if they don't control the main website (read responsive)?  They are useless. It's like a Ferrari with the pedals instead an engine. Who use these tabs to build a website? Do we really need to build three website version and point these to http://www.myawesomesite.com/ http://phone.myawesomesite.com http://tablet.myawesomesite.com/ and drive specific version with JS.... in 2014 ??? Come on.
    My wish:
These useless Muse's tabs should be replaced with the interface pieces of Edge reflow (the stretch system to determinate the size is really amazing). They are awesome and wonderful. After complete the job by adding some Muse's panels to replicate Edge Reflow functions.
No more "app juggling", tons of time saved, the best software ever to build website. The new version name? MuseReflow. Of course. Sounds good isn't it?
Come on guys fulfill this designer wish. Maybe for Christmas?
    Please
    Thanks
