Workflow Builder [Tcode: SWDD] - Navigation Area...

Hello everyone,
Quick question: I just inserted a step in an already existing workflow using the drag-n-drop user interface facility and, from a graphical point of view, the step was inserted exactly where I wanted it.  However, in the "Navigation Area" section (left side of th screen), the step appears at the "bottom" (last step) of the Steps list but, graphically, this step isn't the last one.. it's the 4th of a 5 step workflow.
Everything works OK but I find it confusing when you compare the "textual" list of steps (Navigation Area) and the Graphical view of the all the steps since they do not show up in the same order.
Anyway to fix the "Navigation Area" so that the steps will be listed in the "natural" workflow order ?
Thanks.
José

Hello José,
this is nothing to bother about. The list of steps is ordered by the internal step Id. This Id depends on the order of step creation and not on the order of the flow of the workflow. As a workflow can include different parallel / alternative branches the steps can't be brought into a sequential list so the Id is used for ordering.
Kind Regards

  • Import a Workflow using an XML file in Tcode SWDD

    Hello,
I have a problem in the workflow builder- Tcode SWDD:
I am trying to copy workflow from one system (ECC 5.0) to another one (ECC 6.0) ? I use transaction Workflow-> Import/export->Export to xml files and import the xml files again, but the new workflow is different from the original one. The steps do not have the same numbering and the Workflow graphic is far from being identical to the old one.
Could someone explain me the reason of this problem in detail and how it could be solved? It's really a big workflow and would need to avoid creating it manually.
Thank you very much for your help.
    Best regards,
    Sylvain

    Hello,
The main problem that I had with the steps is that most names were not the same as the old Workflow. Instead of having the correct description I had some coding commands which created a bunch of errors when I tried to perform the syntax check.
I believe you are right. In the new system (ECC 6.0) I do not have the Business Engineering objects like the tasks "TS....". I will create them first and try the Workflow import again after.
I will let you know if it corrected the error or not.
    Best regards,
    Sylvain

  • Workflow Builder step type 'Loop (While)' missing

The step type 'Loop (While)' is missing in the workflow builder in both the SWDD and PFTC transactions.  This is happening is a WebAS 640 Support Pack 14 system and a WebAS 700 Support Pack 8 system.
I have searched in SDN and OSS notes but could not find anything related.
Are we missing some configuration setting or is this step no longer supported?  Thanks in advance for anyone who can provide some hint.

How do you create the step?
Did you try, cliking the cursor on the place you want the step to be, then click on the create button and then select the loop while (maybe your resolution is too small, so that you don't see it appearing)
    Kind regards, Rob Dielemans

  • Information on Globalization of Workflow Builder GUI

I am trying to determine if the Oracle Workflow builder application can display non-English characters in its menus, labels, dialogs, etc. Is there central site that describes the level of internationalization for this and other Oracle products? I have already looked in the "Products > Database > Oracle Workflow" forum and post a request there. Any point of contact would be helpful. Thank You.

    Hi Srinivas,
Firstly when you create the container element for the task set is as an import parameter ( Double click on the container element-> Properties (Tab)-> Import(Field) ). Save the task. In SWDD select the activity. Put in the task and Click on Binding button. You will get a pop up showing all the workflow elements and the task elements. Map the workflow element to the task element here. Save and activate the workflow.
In SWO1 open the method for the business object. Click on parameters button and add an import parameter of the same data type as the task container element. In the program add the following code:
    Data: newvariable type datatype
    swc_get_element container 'NEWVARIABLE' newvariable.
Open the task definition and click on method binding. Map the task container element to the method input parameter.
After these steps you should be able to use the new variable in your code.

  • 601 SAP Business Workflow - Build and Use

    Hello,
I am working in ABAP for last 6-7 years. Due to project need planinng to take BIT 601 SAP Business Workflow - Build and Use  class.
Please suggest if this class is good  to get started in SAP workflow. Pre-requisite for this class is BIT 600. I am not taking that class. Can I do self study and pick it up?
Please suggest how I can get ready for workflow.
    Thanks,
    AP

    Hi,
Org structure needs to be setup by HR, but you can set up org structure yourself. Its not a big deal. 601 will go thorough this process. Also you can have workflows without org structure.
    Go through this link
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/70b074ac-fa1b-2a10-1587-bd084347fc56
On help.sap.com, there is a demo for an absence request workflow. If you go through them, it should give you an idea of all the basic tcodes including the creation of a HR org structure, workflow build etc.

  • Workflow builder (client) Oracle10g Installation

    Hi,
I just installed an 10g database server (Release 10.1.0.2.0) along with the Oracle 10g Workflow Server (2.6.3). The installation completed succesfully, but i am wondering where i can find the client tool (workflow builder).
I already downloaded the Oracle 10g Content Management SDK
(Release 2.6.3) and there is an 'workflow main' install option, but it indicates that it installs the server components too. This is not handy, since they already installed. Also an alert box pops up telling me that the
    oracle_home is not a 10gAS. I do not have a 10g App Server installed, only a 10g DB and Workflow Server 2.6.3!
So, plz can someone point me out how to instll only the client side (builder)?
    Best Regards
    Bram

    Hello,
Oracle Workflow Release 2.6.3 is shipped on a separate CD with the Oracle Database 10g CD pack for Windows. It is also available for
download from OTN. Please navigate to: http://otn.oracle.com/software/index.html
The Workflow builder can be found in the Oracle Database 10g Client CD.
The Oracle Workflow server component shipped with Oracle Database 10g can be installed only into an Oracle Database 10g Oracle home.
The middle tier component of Oracle Workflow requires Oracle HTTP Server installed in a separate middle tier Oracle home. We recommend using the versions of Oracle HTTP Server and mod_plsql that are included in the software CD pack from which you are installing Oracle Workflow.
Note: Please read the installation notes included on the Oracle Workflow CD as well as Oracle MetaLink note 265554.1, Oracle Workflow 2.6.3 Installation Update, before you install the software.
    Cheers,
    Raja

  • Workflow Builder Notification Performer Error

    Hello,
I am working with Workflow Builder 2.6.3.5. I copied a voting notification, made some message and description changes, and added the copy into a process.
When I validate the process, it says "383: Notification activity must be assigned a performer when used in a process." When I go to the process where the original notification is, it has an attribute as a performer. But the copy does not have the attribute performer.
I have found a lot of information saying a performer can be a role or attribute, and to load roles, but it is not a role I want. How can I assign an attribute performer to this notification?
    Thank you.

    Kevin,
You should be able to assign the performer to an item attribute. All you have to do is create the item attribute and then go to the notification in the process and select the Node tab. Then select Item Attribute from list Type and then select the item attribute you created.
While you are able to create and use a text attribute it is recommended to use a Role type because it is consistent and later on, if you need to maintain users in the WF tables you will be able to find them easily. It is just the right way to do.

    Alejandro

  • Oracle Workflow Builder Concurrency

    Hi All
We have Workflow installed in an Oracle9.2 database and have a few users using Workflow Builder to build workflows.
Unless I am missing something, it appears that the facilities for preventing workflow designers from clashing with one another and overwriting each others changes are fairly basic. There are no refresh buttons and it appears that provided you have a high enough access level you can easily overwrite someones recent changes.
The usual optimistic locking of checking changes prior to commit does not seem to be there.
Is this an oversight on Oracle's part (ie fairly new product and functionality may be forthcoming in future releases) or are we using the product incorrectly (ie you should not have multiple people designing the workflows)?
Apologies if this is a stupid question, but this is a new product to me that I need to support.
    Thanks
    KJP

    Hi Kevin
If you were developing using wft files (not connected to the database except to upload), and had a source control system, then people would be checking the files in and out, then you shouldnt run into this issue. This would be the best way of building workflows in a multi developer environment. Connecting the database and uploading/downloading workflows is more of a developer convenience feature, not something for large scale development where you all might be modifying the same workflow.
Just as some background, Oracle Workflow is a core technology of the Oracle E-Business Suite, there are hundreds of workflows and many hundreds (at least) of developers using common development environments. So the product is deployed in very active development environments. Also, Oracle Workflow has been around ~8 years.
    Cheers

  • Always error when try to save my item type on workflow builder

    Dear All,
I'm created a simple workflow. There is a notification with Result Type = Approval (Standard). Every I tried to save, workflow builder show a error message below:
    WFDESV_FAIL COUNT=1
    WFACTV_FAIL OPERATION=SAVE NAME=FIF_NOTIFY_APPROVER1_NTF TYPE=FIF
    WFACTV_MESSAGE_RESULT RESULT=WFSTD_APPROVAL
What does it mean? I've tried to change Result Type with another standard Lookup Type (such as Boolean or another). But the error message still coming. How do I fix it?
    Thank you,
    Agas

    Hi,
The first thing that is wrong is that your configuration is not finding the messages correctly, so that you get a meaningful message. Check that the keys in the registry for Workflow (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\Workflow have been created correctly - there should be a Languages key and then ENG with an entry for Help, Message and TemplateDir which point to your Workflow home. Once that is set up, then you should at least get a meaningful message :)
There are two possible problems here, but I haven't had chance to look in the messages file to see which one it is. Either the notification does not have a performer assigned to it when used in the process, or you have not modelled a transition for all available options - you need to model all responses, or use the "default" transition to capture those that you have not explicitly included.

  • Installation of Workflow Builder

I want to install Workflow Builder but I can't find it. What does it come with? It doesn't seem to come with Oracle Application Server 9i nor the Developer Suite 9i.

In Oracle9iAS, the Oracle Workflow Builder is installed along with the Oracle9iAS InterConnect Development Kit. For more details, see the Oracle9i Application Server Installation Guide for your platform.
In the Oracle9i Database, you can install Oracle Workflow client components from the Oracle server CD for Windows or from the Oracle client CD included in the CD pack for any platform. Within the Oracle Universal Installer, select the product Oracle9i Client. Then select the Custom installation type and choose Oracle Database Utilities as the component to install. The Oracle Workflow Client components are included under Oracle Database Utilities.
In Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4), you can install the Workflow Builder from the Oracle Content Management SDK CD for Windows by selecting Oracle Workflow Client as the product to install.
