Workflow concept?

Hi Expert,
I am practicing workflow and Now I am able to create basic level worklow. But I want to clear a thing that Is possible, when standard objects are called we can modify the objects.
For Example in HCM module:
When an employee applied for leave and a workflow deliver to his HOD for approval. HOD approved the application but employee havn't sufficiant balance to avail the leave. So is it possible whenever application approved by HOD then additional payment infotype created and deduct without paid amount leave for payroll.
Regards,
Syed Tayab Shah

Hi,
If you are working with Standard Workflows, it better we should not change/modify them.
Make a copy of that Workflow and then make changes to that copy.
Go to transaction PFTC and choose Workflow Template..Give the WF ID and select copy..
Rename the Workflow.
Hope it helps u..!

Kanika

  • Need to Learn ABAP OO and Workflow concepts.

    Hello Mates,
I am just a 2 weeks old in Sap - ABAP, I was working on MS-.NET.
But somehow ABAP is attracting me more than any other  language, I did certification as well.
But somehow I am not able to understand the ABAP OO concepts inregards to workflow and exactly how to apply.
I am reading every thread related to this from last 3 weeks now but didnt get any link/satisfactory answer to how to enhance my skill and use my OO knowledge of .NET in ABAP.
I am very much familiar with OO concepts and dont want to read those again, but what I exactly want to read about
    1. THE SIGNIFICANCE OF OO IN ABAP.
    2. WHERE TO APPLY/ MAY BE HOW TO USE THOSE.
    3. ANYTHING RELATED TO ABAP WORKFLOW.
if anyone used/or have knowledge of any such book/forum/blog/posts/sdn.forum/ please do let me know.
This will help me in great level.
Please do let me know, any kind of suggestions/critisism are welcome.
I trust in your critisism also there will be something to read.
    Please post.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Ravindra Sonar.

Your behavior is the only thing that counts here. And you look like a nice guy. If you would like to drop me a line in future, you can do that, I don´t mind, maybe we could find topics to talk about. And about that abap feature/ future post... I don´t care about the points (I don´t ask for any...) but the points count is the indicator of ones behavior:
The guy, who always asks and nobody answers is selfish and not a candidate for me to answer. You must help to get helped, that is my motto. You must prove you´re worth the time and effort.
I asked a question under B1 forum once where the top 1 contributor there tried hard to help because he knew I am active around here. That was a nice feeling. And from my point of view... get some points to prove you´re a nice guy and I will do my best to help you with any problem that may appear. I am not the only one who thinks this way, I think.
But that is not a rule here, just my opinion.
Maybe... one day, you will remember my words and write a blog for the beginners or help in some way to pay back what you have learnt here. Become a member of the community, spread the knowledge... and let´s talk:))
    Have a nice day, Otto

  • Need to understand impact on workflows during upgrade from EBP 3.0 to SRM 5

    Hello experts,
Greetings to all and a Happy New Year!!
I am new to the workflow concept, though i have a fair idea of EBP.
We are using EBP 3.0, classic scenario.  Very soon, we would be upgrading from EBP 3.0 to SRM 5.0. I have a few questions which i need to knw before I take up the upgrade part:
    1) The impact on the worflows like Shopping cart approval, purchase contract approval etc when we upgrade from EBP 3.5 to SRM 5.0...
    2) Does EBP have their own release strategies or are the release strategies defined in R/3 and applied to the shopping cart when it is ordered in EBP? As in classic scenario, POs are created in R/3, then how does the appoval process happen?
    3) What are the necessary things, if any, that I should make sure of before upgrading?
    4) Does all workflows also get upgraded or is there any tool to upgrade the workflow?
I am not clear with the approval concept in EBP. I know there are workflows that get triggered when a shopping cart is ordered but the approval process in this workflow is something which i want to understand. Please forward me a document, if possible, or a link will also do.
Please let me know the necessary details.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Ayush

    Hi Ayush,
Most workflows will be the same, but if you have modifications on these workflows' then i'd suggest reverting back to the standards for the upgrade.
Im not quite sure what you mean about the release strategy. What can be done though, is creating Purchase Requisitions in the R/3 and pass them to the SRM system. From here PO's can be created and the approval process will take place in accordance with your workflow rules in tcode: swb_cond.
Before upgrading, try to have the system as clean as possible. When i say clean, i mean make sure that users are consistent, SC's, PO's etc arent left hanging. Try to avoid carrying documents over to the new system. I'd suggest archiving anything you can too.
I don't have any documents to give you but the basic process and transactions are as follows:
SWB_COND: Your workflow start conditions. Which WF's are on/off (defined by green/red light)
SWI6: This will let you examine a document and its relevant WF by its object id. (SC No, PO No etc..
SWUD: Allows for Consistency checks on your workflow and will find any inconsistencies which are occuring. (Use Test Environment and WF Tech Name i.e 14500015)
SWDD: The workflow builder, will let you build, activate, create new version and modify the worklows in your system.
Approval itself is simply the chain of approval which a workflow is defined to follow. You need your managers to approve/reject and the conditions for which Managers should be called for approval. Its works from Possible Approvers for workitems and Excluded Approvers for workitems.
Understanding the WF log is the most essential thing of all. The understanding of BADI is quite important too.
Hope this info helps you. Check help.sap.com cause everything is documented there too!
    Cheers

  • A Print workflow question

I outsource my printing using the "Print to File" option in the Print Module. My workflow is straight forward: Import, Image Editing (using the Develop Module) and Printing (Print to File). I sharpen my images during the Image Editing phase using the Develop sharpening tool. I use a calibrated Monitor to makes sure that I am seeing a representative image on my screen. In the Print Module (under Print Job) I can select an option “Print Sharpening” (low, standard and high).
Question: Does does the “Print Sharpening” negate my sharpening settings in the Develop Module? If not, what is the difference between the two sharpening tools?

    Panagon-1 wrote:
Question: Does does the “Print Sharpening” negate my sharpening settings in the Develop Module? If not, what is the difference between the two sharpening tools?
Print Sharpening (often also called output sharpening) work in combination with the capture sharpening you set in the Develop module. This constitutes 2/3 of the sharpening workflow concept by Bruce Fraser see: Out of Gamut: Thoughts on a Sharpening Workflow
The aim of the capture sharpening in the Develop module is to regain the loss of apparent sharpness cause by the optical system and the sensor. The goal is to have the image "look good" at 1:1. If properly accomplished, the Print Sharpening combines with the capture sharpening to sharpen for the final output–which really can't be judged visually...
So, make it look good in Develop then add the Print Sharpening on top.

    Hi All,
I am very new to Workflow concept.. I have the requirement to define
the work flow for and trigger it from custion report based on some conditions for
      Pyment run program data.
the requirement is:  Need to send email ntification to Apropriate person.
Can any one know how to create custom work low and how to trigger it from
custom report?  please send me some detail steps to proceed further..
    Its very urgent it seems..
    Thanks,

Well, rag rao, you have come to the wrong place then. This is a voluntary service so don't expect people to respond 'urgently to your requests. The other issue is, you are asking for step by step guide to design a workflow, are you aware that there is <b>plenty</b> of this info on SAP Help!
Finally, I think you should come clean and say to your employer/team lead that you have no workflow skills but will need more time to develop.

  • Yet Another Workflow Question

Ok I too, like many others here, am new to the Mac (thanks to Apple's I'm a Mac, I'm a PC ads that my wife couldn't get enough of). I have done some searching around and I see that there are quite a few iMovie workflow questions out there. I have not quite found what I am looking for however, so I thought I would make my first post tonight. So here it goes...
I have 3 different ways I capture video:
    1. Canon Vixia HF10 (HD)
    2. Canon Powershot (SD)
    3. Blackberry Storm (SD...I know it isn't a good phone)
I record everything to SD cards. I am wanting to know the best way to store my raw video for editing at any time. Do I copy the AVCHD file structure (for the Vixia) and .avi files (for the other non HD) to my hdd, or do I just import into iMovie '09 and let it reside there, or both? I noticed that iMovie had an archival option (which appears to just copy the AVCHD structure to my hdd), which is why I ask. I want to always keep my raw video in case I decide to go back later and create a new video.
After I have the raw video archived, I would like to know the best way to use iMovie. Depending on where I end up storing the raw video, should I keep the imported video in iMovie once I am finished with a project, and then reimport it at a later date if need be? Or, do I leave it in iMovie as events? I guess this all rely depends on the first question...where do I store the raw video for archival purposes...
Finally, when exporting my iMovie project, should I store that in more of a, pardon the Windows reference, "My Videos" folder with a original size, web optimized size, and ipod optimized size? Thus, keeping the actual exported version of the project separate from the raw video?
I hope I have asked the right questions here. I appreciate any and all help I can get!
    Ron

Welcome Ron to the  iMovie boards..
very interesting : 'switchers' care sooo much for 'storage strategies' ..
the by Apple intended workflow/concept for iApps is:
any 'photocam' related material (still or movin') comes-in via iPhoto, and is stored in an iP Library (=you can tell iP to create 2/many Libs, if you prefer to organize manually....)
any 'camcorder' related material HAS to be imported by iM - why? because, iM has some internal routines to make such material editable (codecs, thumnails, stuff....). the same material as 'file by Finder' does not import.. in most cases!
    storage..
iP stores in its Library (local/internal HDD and/or ext. HDD)
iM stores in Events (local/internal HDD and/or ext. HDD)
to make Projects/Albums accessible to any iApp, you should keep your fingers off that structure.
    Erasing Events 'kills' projects.
allthough, once 'shared to media browser' there's a 'copy' of your project WITHIN the project file. (= the socalled Media Browser is no single Folder somewhere hidden in the system)
there's this Spacesaver feature to erase any Event content which is not in use in any project to keep Events lean.
use the Archive feature from within iM to keep things easy and convenient.. if you miss a single file of the SDcard file-structure, the whole card's content is kaputt ..
    summary:
    • use iApps as intended.
    • use iP for cameras, it stores 'raws' (the avi too)
    • use iM for camcorders, use Archive to store raws..
    • purchase a dozend of HDDs to store your material..

  • Role of a ABAPer in workflow

I am very new to workflow concept.
Please can anyone explain me ABAPer role in creating or customizing workflow.
My doubt is ..whether ABAPer will create jobs, positions, task or Basis people?
At what stages there will be interaction with the functional people and what are the things to be collected before starting workflow?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
1] Workflow is Simulation of Business processes automated through SAP.
May be you can take a process for applying for leave Leave.
In this Leave scenario we can automate it stepwise,
    1) Employee apply for leave with dates
    2) mail shoot to Manager
    3) He can accept ot reject, May be he can approve with modified dates.
2] As you can see Applying for leave is 1st step so it can be a trigeering event for workflow. Means Workflow starts with event.

  • SRM Workflow (Business Rule Framework)

    Hello!
I hope I will find valuable tips and information.
I was researching at the moment about the SAP SRM BRF workflow. In our company, SRM is 5.0. With version 7.0 (or 7.0.1), the existing workflow concept has been revised to be strong. Now I try to work out differences. (Pro / Cons, functions, etc.)
Does anyone here have more information, or any sources?
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi,
It is called "Process-Controlled Workflow". SRM 7.0 support 2 workflow frameworks.
Application-Controlled Workflow: like SRM 5.0. Development in Workflow Graphical Editor or N-Step BADI development.
Process-Controlled Workflow: Process Level definition in customize table and Agent BADI.
Main business value is TCO. Application consultant or ABAP consultant can manage Process-Controlled Workflow implementation without workflow consultant.
If SRM 5.0 functionality is fine and no often approval step change, upgrade customers can use Application-Controlled Workflow without new implementation.
New functionality will be delivered in Process-Controlled Workflow only.

    Swamy

    Hi Swamy,
The release workflow is configured by MM functional consultant. As for the workflow determination (i.e. which level should approve first and so forth) depends solely/mainly on the Finance of the company. It differs from one company to another. And the level of approval also differ from one company to another. Hence, like you mentioned, this would be provided by the user, so it is okay. I have replied to someone on another thread asking about workflow, and this is how it works.
How it works? For example, for a PR release strategy, once the PR is raised by a user for a certain value, the PR raised that matched the classification of the release strategy configured will be triggered. In this sense, once the release strategy is triggered, the releaser holding the release code to release this PR will receive a workflow in their SAP inbox (Not Outlook) for their execution, which is sent automatically by SAP system. These is accessible via the t-code SBWP. Each releaser have a unique login ID and password.
Assuming the release strategy required 3 levels of release, for example A3, A2 and finally A1 (final release), A3 will first receive this workflow in his/her inbox. After A3 has released, A2 will subsequently receive workflow in his/her inbox for this same PR. In the PR, you will be able to see that A2 release is now possible. This flow will continue until the final releaser, A1 and then, the status of the PR will be unblocked for issuance of PO.
How is it configured in SPRO? In the Workflow for PR release strategy, you are able to assign a unique ID (usually employee ID) to a particular release code, which these release codes are tied to one or more release strategies. The workflow determines who is to release for a release strategy with that particular release code via the assignment of the ID to that particular release code. Each assignment is only possible for one Plant, and you have to assign the same for many other Plants for the same ID in the workflow if you want him/her to have the authority to release purchasing docs in more than one Plant.
    How to configure?
Before that, you need to obtain the following information - User ID of the releaser for the specified release code, Plant to be released by the user, and finally of course the Group and Release code (which you already have).
    For PR: IMG>MM>Purchasing>Purchase Requisition>Release Procedure>Procedure with Classification>Set Up Procedure with Classification-->Workflow
For PO: IMG>MM>Purchasing>Purchase Order>Release Procedure for Purchase Orders>Define Release Procedure for Purchase Orders>Workflow.
Maintain the details u already have in hand:
For PR: Group (PR or PO), Code (release code), Plant (you have to maintain the same details for each of the Plant that the same release code releases) Object (US) and Agent ID (the user's ID used to login to SAP system and SBWP).
For PO: Group (PR or PO), Code (release code), Object (US) and Agent ID (the user's ID used to login to SAP system and SBWP).
Please note that PO is not Plant specific, and is usually one releaser to release the PO for GR. It is the PR that during the initial stage has the most level of release (up to max. 8 level) before a PR can be converted to PO.  After the PO is converted, it is usually deemed accepted, hence only one release code is usually required to release the PO.
Hope this will give you an idea how the workflow works and how to configure it.
    Rgds.

  • Re: I : Workflow applications -Reply

    Daniela,
We at Claremont Technology Group are in the implementation stage of a
Forte/Workflow system for Public Employee Retirement systems. We are using
Action Technologies' "Action Workflow" to handle the workflow portion of the
application. Action has an API set that allows you to build a custom workflow
system with any development tool. Integration with Forte is fairly complex as
all API's need to be wrappered. Action is very expensive, and their technical
support staff has not been real helpful to date, as they aren't familiar with
Forte. If you have any questions, feel free to email me.

    Dear Forte users,
we have to develop applications based on workflow concepts, having to to
manage the flow of administrative documents in the Public Administration

Has anyone had any experiences of developing such applications using Forte

    Do you have any ideas?

    Hi, Daniela
This spring I evaluated and tested more than 20 the most
wide-spread workflow packages. The idea was not to develop
this part of our Forte Application by ourselves, but try to
incorporate into it COTS software. The only package that
was very close to be incorporated (through using OLEGEN),
and I was able to create classes in Forte and run very simple
    application, was ViewStar.
Unfortunately, the real implementation of workflow part in our
system was postponed till the next phase, so we just keep
this in mind. And ViewStar costs a lot of money.

You should turn the unit upside down and should wait until the unit dried.
In best case the unit should power up properly but it could be possible that your motherboard or another part like RAM module or keyboard could be affected.
