Workflow emails and IMAP
We've enabled the IMAP server that ships with AIX 5.2 and are able to telnet to port 143 on that server and talk IMAP through it, so we believe it is working.
From Workflow we are able to send out SMTP mails to Outlook, and replies from Outlook find their way to the mail box of the AIX user configured in the Workflow Mailer.
But the mails are not picked up from there and processed in Financials (the notification IDs are visible as 'OPEN' and 'SENT' in WF_NOTIFICATIONS).
We have created files under the AIX user's home directory called 'process' and 'discard' to which the user has write permissions and have supplied these as the relevant folders in the 'Email Processing' section for Workflow.
Is there anything that we have missed? Anyone else encountered similar problems? Does it surprise you that we've created files when Financials talks in terms of folders?

Make sure your OS folders are real IMAP folders via telnet:

I usually prefer to create my IMAP folders in some mail program on the host like evolution, thunderbird, pine, anything that communicates with IMAP. It is also a good idea to check the INBOX and DISCARD folders occasionally for thousands of auto reply messages that will cause the Workflow Mailer process to die.

What is POP, POP3, and IMAP When I Setup My Email Account in the HP ePrint App?
I have done as much research as I can do in regards to setting up the HP ePrint App Email Accounts. If you do not see your email information listed here, feel free to post it below or contact your internet service provider, phone or email company, or whomever else that might know this. I am certain there are many more that could be added but this is a rather extensive list. I hope you find what you need to finish setting up your email applications.
I have noticed information differs from website to website but as I have learned over time, with domain masking and companies buying out other companies, I just researched all the information I could find and that way if one of the hostnames or ports don’t work, then you can continue to view further into this page to see if that information is the same. At that point, if you can’t find what you need here, I would say you have done all that you can do before contacting the appropriate support team for your email information.
Most of the links are active and the ones listed below should send you directly the pages I pulled this information from but only a few of them were from the actual support sites themselves (Apple support was vague, as well as Microsoft, Macintosh, and commonly used ISPs). Save yourself some time by searching here first. I hope you find what you need in this one-stop-shop and if you get an email address not listed here please post it below and I will add it to this original document.
Lastly, as this information is from forum-based and other unofficial websites, I would like to add that this is a copy/paste/edit-for-easy-reading document I created in my spare time. This is a very long document so I do recommend using the search and find quick keys to search for the email you need but the top part of this has definitions as to what servers, ports, and hostnames are and the basic setup in case you need to know what these options are used for and what they mean.

Note - Substitute your actual domain name for "yourdomain.com" and substitute the first part of your email address for "user."
Email Ports
For networks, a port means an endpoint to a logical connection. The port number identifies what type of port it is. Here are the default email ports for:
POP3 - port 110
IMAP - port 143
SMTP - port 25
HTTP - port 80
Secure SMTP (SSMTP) - port 465
Secure IMAP (IMAP4-SSL) - port 585
IMAP4 over SSL (IMAPS) - port 993

Set Up POP or IMAP E-Mail on an Android G1 How do I set up POP or IMAP E-Mail on an Android Device?
From the home screen, tap Applications > Settings > Accounts & sync > Add account > Manual setup.
On the Incoming settings screen, in the Protocol drop-down menu, select IMAP or POP3. We suggest you select IMAP because it supports more features.
In the Email address and Username text boxes, enter your full e-mail address, for example [email protected], and then select Next. Your user name is the same as your e-mail address.
In the Password text box, enter your password.
In the IMAP server or POP3 server text box, enter your IMAP or POP server name. For information about how to look up the server settings you need to complete this step and other steps in this procedure, see “How do I find the server settings” later in this topic.

What else do I need to know?
If your e-mail account is the type that requires registration, you must register it the first time you sign in to Outlook Web App. Connecting to your e-mail account through a mobile phone will fail if you haven't registered your account through Outlook Web App. After you sign in to your account, sign out. Then try to connect using your mobile phone. For more information about how to sign in to your account using Outlook Web App, see How to Sign In to Your E-Mail Using a Web Browser. If you want to send and receive Hotmail emails using an email client software, then your software must support Hotmail HTTP access for your email account. Some email clients, such as Outlook Express or Microsoft Outlook, offer builtin support for Hotmail accounts, so you only have to select HTTP when you are asked to select your email account type and select Hotmail as the HTTP Mail Service Provider.”

Although lengthy, I could not find a more comprehensive place to retrieve this information. The Skinny on IMAP vs POP Email and work arounds
It took me a while to figure out email so I figured I'd share what I've learned so far. Do feel free to reply with more useful tips for us all if anyone has some.
First email accounts are either IMAP or POP and the first step was figuring out the difference:
IMAP
Mirror of the server
What is done one place is done everywhere because you are looking at the server.
Advantage: can access email from multiple devices/locations
Disadvantage: May have to mark as read individually when adding to a new device
POP
Independent of the server
What is done one place stays that place because you have moved it from the server.
Advantage: once it's delivered the mail can be viewed offline
Disadvantage: where ever it is delivered once, the other divices do no have access to the mail
Think of the server as a huge mailbox as big as a room!
IMAP
With IMAP the mail stays in the mailbox until you delete it permenently,
but once it is deleted it has moved out of the main part of the huge mailbox into the trash can in the room of the huge mailbox (the trash folder settings decide when the trash gets taken out and deleted permenently) when deleted permenently it is no longer in the trash can in the huge mailbox it has been taken out the the dump.
If you read it then it's like opening the mail but leaving it in the huge mailbox.
If you move it to another folder then it's like moving it to the desk in the room but still in the mailbox.
POP
With POP the mail is taken out of the mailbox and moved to the computer (in the other room)
Once you request/download your mail it is taken off of the server and whatever is done with the mail the server no longer has access to it
If you read it (or move it to a folder) it is the same thing as Mom taking the mail out of the huge mailbox and putting it in the car, if Dad checks the mailbox the mail may have been delivered by Dad is not going to find it because it is no longer in the mailbox it is with Mom in the car.

Use this chart HT1277 ( http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1277 ) for contacting your service provider or IT department to acquire the proper settings for your email account!
Finally, as promised, work around for your email:
If you only have access to a POP email account and it won't work on your iPhone or want it to act like an IMAP account, then follow these steps~
1) Get a free IMAP email account (using Gmail for this example)
2) Sign in to your Gmail account
3) Click the gear icon in the upper-right
4) Select Gmail settings
5) Select the Accounts and Import tab
6) Under Send mail as, click Add another email address
7) In the 'Email address' field, Enter your name and alternate email address (ie the POP address)
8) Choose use Gmail's servers to send your mail
9) Click Next Step>>
10) Click Send Verification
(Gmail will send a verification message to your alternate email address to confirm that you own it)
11) Open your other account and click the link in the message Gmail sent
12) Add your new Gmail account to your iphone
You will be able to send, receive, reply, forward, delete, and manage folders of your other address through your Gmail address on your phone and it will appear to the recipients as though it came from your other address.Allan, I have run into questions in this area recently since I got my iPhone. I have a long time Charter ISP POP email account which I've accessed with Apple Mail. This has worked fine. I also have a Yahoo web based account which I've also used separately.
Now when I set up my Yahoo account on my iPhone it worked great. But when I set up the Charter account it resulted in an IMAP account with incoming and outgoing servers being mobile.charter.net. Charter website implies that all email accounts on all mobile devices must be set up like this. My question is whether I can, or should, try to set up the account manually as a POP on my iPhone so it will behave similarly to the Charter POP account in my iMac?
I've run into some conflicts after using my iPhone to access my Charter email. My inbox on my desktop iMac in Apple Mail will give me the message that another client is accessing the email account when I try to get new mail soon after my iPhone has been accessing the Charter account. I've wondered whether this is a conflict between IMAP and POP?

IMAP email and MobileMe no longer working on iPhone 4
Beginning this morning, I cannot get my IMAP mail accounts to be accessed by my iPhone 4 with iOS 4.0.1. It makes the connection to the server, but gets stuck in a loop trying to download messages from the server. It gives up, connects again, has the same problem, and the cycle goes on and on.
I have talked with my provider and they have changed nothing on their mail servers. And IMAP works fine in my Mac Mail (the latest update, 10.6.4 I think?).
My Exchange account connects just fine as it always did, and I can connect via POP3 (though I strongly prefer not to so I can properly sync my email across the different clients I access it with over the day).
Anyone else having a problem? This literally just started out of the blue today.I've had this happen in the past due to a corrupted email or enclosure. You might want to try to log into your account from your desktop and delete mail from the server from the last few days, store locally on your desktop, and see if that clears it up though I get the impression you're talking about two different accounts so it's unlikely you would get the same email both places but that's usually been the issue for me.

Using workflow to email and fax output documents
The requirement is that everytime an output is triggered for a document, the document should be emailed and/or faxed to certain contacts that are maintained on the customer master. Currently you can only email or fax to one contact at a time but we would like to do it for multiple contacts.
Can this be achieved using workflow? I am relatively novice in workflow but would like to implement it if possible.
The solution we have right now, which works by the way:
Add a function module in every driver program to extract the contact information and populate a database table
Run a batch job ever 5 mins that reads the database table and emails/fax using the contact information.

Performance management workflow appraisee and appraiser name to be passed in email
I am working on the performance management workflow. When the manager chooses to require an employee self assessment then an email notification should be triggered to the employee (appraisee) notifying them of the self assessment to be taken.This is my requirement.
I have copied the standard workflow WS12300113 and customized the workflow to send the notification to the appraisee. I have customized the business object APPR_DOC . I am using the custom event and the event linkage is activated.
The manager from MSS select the employee and workflow is triggered. The mail notification will send a mail to the appraisee(employee) ,stating

I created a custom class taking import parameters as appr doc id and plan version.
I am passing these parameters to HRHAP_APPER table and fetching the extended id(field id)
I am passing this extended id to bapi "BAPI_EMPLCOMM_GETDETAILEDLIST ".
Here i am getting multiple entries . using subtype '0001' i will getting username and
with subtype '0010' i will get email address of the manager.
Passing username fetched from above step into bapi HR_GETEMPLOYEEDATA_FROMUSER
i will get the name of the manager.
I HAVE DONE BINDING OF METHOD PARAMETERS WITH TASK CONTAINER .ALSO TASK CONTAINER ELEMENTS WITH WORKFLOW CONTAINER ELEMENTS.

Why all of a sudden am I having difficulty sending Gmail emails? I get a send error. When I run diagnostics there is a SMTP and IMAP account for Gmail and I am not sure how to fix this.

When using Connection Doctor to see what is could be causing the issue, look for the red dots to let you know what is wrong. Then all you have to do is correct that information. You can double click on the section that is giving you issue and it will take you there. Most issues could be just password being entered incorrectly. Take a look at the article below to walk you through troubleshooting issues with Mail.

I use internode and imap. When the ipad deletes emails it also removes them from the mac. How can I reverse this so the mac is the master and the ipad is the slave?
Thanks for the info. - I now know that deletion works both ways!! - (unlike POP where emails deleted from the ipad also deleted them from the mac even before I could read them, whereas emails deleted from the mac were not removed from the ipad!!! - ie. the ipad was the master over the mac - the slave). Prior to changing to imap I used to transfer all nongarbage emails from inbox to mailboxes before my husband could ask if he could delete emails on his ipad. I have noticed however if you do this in imap, they are removed from the inbox on the ipad as well (this did not happen with POP). So we still have to check but the number is less so we like imap better than POP.

I have an N8, and I'm trying to configure an imaps email account.
My organization use the imap ssl with a self created certificate for sign the connection. The problem is that in N8 there is no way to say to nokia push servers to use that certificate, and thus during the account creation the configuration fail saying to check the servers name.
Is there any way to have the push mail working?there is a messaging forum

i know what you mean. i have a self signed certificate on my server and can't use NM with this either. fortunately i just drop mine down to regular imap and it's all fine (save the huge problems with NM, and push over imap) i guess you can't do that.
the other option would be to decline the terms of service as you finish setting up the account., this causes the phone to switch back to a regular email client that connects directly with the mail servers rather than via NM.
there is no push option. but email can be set to retrieve on notify. notify being when it is indicated over an imap idle connection. or you can just set it to retrieve every 5 minutes.
you are still going to have certificate issues. but they may be manageable.
There's no dignity in begging for kudos. Do it for the karma. -

IMAP email and the sent, drafts and trash folders
I am using Mail 2.1.3 and have set up my accounts to work through IMAP from the server into my account.
I can send and receive email absolutely fine, however it is not saving any sent emails and it won't save any emails to the draft folder. I have tested from the webmail on the server, the sent email goes into the sent folder on the web, and then I also see it in Mac Mail.
But if I send an email from Mail, it won't go into the sent folder.
Any ideas what I need to do to get this working properly? I have been on to the provider and they say it is something to do with my email settings but won't give me any more than that.

I had those checked already but it still wasn't working. In the end I found the below link to another post where I needed to put INBOX into the IMAP Path Prefix box in the Advanced section.
Once this had been done and I sent another message, the sent box from the IMAP account appeared in the Mail sent box and it's all working now.
You were right with the "Sent Messages" folder, this also appeared after I had done the above step.

Can i set the same email account as POP on MacBook and IMAP on iPhone and iPad?
I got an email account which is currently POP, it was setup on my MacBook, iPhone and iPad. Since POP cannot sync the read email, every time i have to read them on three devices - MacBook, iPhone and iPad, or it shows loads of unread mails.
I heard IMAP can solve this problem, but after set the email account up as IMAP, loads of my emails lost! Luckily most of those emails are restored from Time Machine. IMAP is too dangerous, so i changed back to POP.
Now i'm still surffering from read emails three times, i wonder anyway to fix this problem? can i set the email account as POP on MacBook and IMAP on iPhone and iPad?

XNormally, at least all smartphones I've used, do not delete things from the server. The Email programs on phones know enough not to delete emails you delete on the phone from the email server so you can still get them on your computer. I personally don't need or want all my emails on my phone. It is good to check emails and reply it ones that need a reply right then but otherwise I want them on my computers. Using IMAP on phone/pad may not act the same as POP and may interact with the server differently, deleting email I don't want on my phone from the server.
I do have one IMAP email address on my phone, Google with Google Mail. All others access the servers with POP. -
Outlook 2013 Sp1 IMAP company account issue. When i read an email and scroll to other email in reading pane opens the 2nd message in the mean time 1st email again goes to Unread (format highlighted again as unread email) or sometimes it remain as

10.8 client and 10.6 server email pop and imap problem

10.6 server have email server running (pop and imap), when i configure same email account (pop) on 10.7 machine and 10.8 machines , 10.7 machine works , but 10.8 pop does not working
let me explaing further :
when i use 10.8 mail application to setup pop mail account it does not connecting . But i used the same account to connect imap it connect on 10.8 machine.
the same mail account connect to another 10.7 machine with POP and IMAP for testing reason , it works with out any issues
POP server is running and this email account's users profile enable POP and IMAP mail settings.

10.8 tends to use Apple Token. I think you will need to use a type of MD5 Challenge-Response or Password.
