You may not get the complete standard form which will match this functionality. But you can develop your business logic in custom code for fetching the data and the interface and use the standard templates for layouts if any template matches your requirement. You can see the complete lest of templates in : "transaction SFP->Form->Layout->Tools->Template Manager
Most of the common templates are available here.

Hi,
Yes it can be achieved by Work flow & also through the Enterprise Portal development.
If you have Workflow consultant you can take a help in setting up the approval for Material master creation.
If you want high fund & centralization of Material master you can go for EP development but Cost & effort will be on higher side.
Discuss with your Workflow consultant he will help you.

BTE for material master creation

Hi All,
I need to update material long text using the specific class and characterstic values of a material when it is created via MM01 transaction.
I want to do this by using BTE. Can you please explain on how can do this i.e. what BTE to be used, any settings required.

BTE is same as User exit.
Like user eict ,In BTE you can call the create event or directly workflow.

Material Master creation workflow

Hi everyone....
Last week I went on the BIT601 training course and I'm now tryinig to create my first workflow for material master creation, so please forgive my rather noobish questions. I think this must be a common workflow but I'm sure every company has a different process.
My process is as follows:
- User creates basic data view for material master in MM01.
- Workflow is triggered when material is saved.
- Work item arrives in inbox of master data enigneer who completes all material master views.
- Mail is sent to workflow initiator to inform that material is complete.
- End of workflow
I have defined the start event CREATED from business object BUS1001006 in my workflow definition. I have defined a standard task for the first step in my workflow using bus object BUS1001006 with method Create. The workflow starts correctly however ...
My question is how do I get the material number to pull through to my first step? I am assuming I need to setup some binding to pull the material number into the workflow container?
Can someone please point in the right direction.

wow, thanks for the super quick reply Rob!
I figured it must be some binding I had not done.
So ... I go to my Start events in my workflow header, I see I have only the "auto-generated" binding i.e. EVTCREATOR > WFINITIAOR ....
now, I see EVTOBJECT as a possible container object from the event side of the window (left hand side) but what do I link it too? I was kinda expecting to see my business object as a possible container object in the workflow side of the screen (right hand side).
I really hope that makes sense... If I understand correctly, the idea is to link the event object to the business object container element ... but if thats the case why can't I see my business object in the workflow side of the binding window?

[edit] ... I may have partially answered my own question ... I think I need to define the properties of my business object in my workflow container element such that its is an input field? ...

Did SAP develop standard adobe interactive form for Material Master Creation?
I heard SAP delivered standard forms for Customer Master and Vendor Master. I am not sure about Material Master Form. If any one knows about Adobe Forms for Material Master... please rerply.

LSMW for material master upload

Hi gurus
i have one problem while uploading material master with LSMW.
I have murged 2 company codes in one so while creating material master system is asking me tax classification data in sales view for 2 country sales org and distrubition channel. I am using sap std LSMW for material master creation.
system is giving me error as " tax classification data not maintained completely".
need your valuable help to solve this problem

Tax classification data is mandatory field in Sales view of MM01.
Check out you mapping for the tax classification fields. usually classification value is 0 OR 1.
You can first test the values in MM01 Sales View with the legacy data you have and this way you will able to find the mandatory fields also and can see the valid values for the fields.
Remember you may have more than one Tax Classification values depending on the country code.
For that you can add those many columns in legacy data file and map them.

I am new to SAP workflow n i have a requirement to create a workflow for Material Create .
I have created workflow for Notification of Absence from SAP help as a practice.
But not able to do it for material create because i dont know the methods n all for that.
Please guide me in this .

Workflow to approve Material Master creation

Dear all,
I would like to create workflow to approve Material Master creation as below:
When Material is created -> Check & Approval (Yes) -> Material is active
-> Check & Approval (No) -> Material is inactive
How can I do that?

Hi,
Before designing the workflow, you need to find what is the business object and what is the event which gets triggered when material master is created... you can do that using event trace....
1. SWELS - switch on trace
2. Create material
3. SWEL - check trace to find which event is fired
This will give you business object name..
Now start building workflow using SWDD... Go thru basic steps for designing workflow...

Creation of New T Code for Material Master

SRM and MDM for material master in SRM contracts for multiple R/3

Dear all,
my question is:
We are implementing SRM 4.0 in classic scenario with multiple R/3 back-end and we want to set-up Global Outline Agreements in SRM in a multi-backend environment where the Material Master are not harmonized.
We heard that MDM and COntent Integraton can be a solution.
Then detailled question is:
Can we have 2 material numbers (e.g. ABC and XYZ) in 2 different R/3 systems refering the same product.
Have the mapping done in MDM (Content Integrator?) to a third material number:123
Replicating the material master 123 to SRM from MDM(?)
Create global Outline Agreements in SRM for Material Master 123.
Distribute the GOA as Outline Agreement to R/3 system 1 with the translation to ABC and to R/3 system 2 with the translation XYZ, all of that during the distribution step (or another).
Have the call-offs quantities correct on 123 in SRM and BW?
IF yes, how is it working, do you have some documentation discribing the scenario and the config steps to do?

That's a good question.
You are on the right way. MDM is the tool for you.
But..
Content Integrator (CI) was first developped for Shell, to address the need of cross-referencing of material/supplier/category IDs, for:
- reporting purpose (actual Spend Analysis)
- mapping purpose (send of XML PO)
CI was later "fusionned" into the new MDM (1.0) solution.
So now, you can not order CI without MDM (even if some SRM slides still present CI).
But mapping API where developped for all inboud/outbound interfaces in SRM, for materials only (good luck for you).
You will find everywhere this piece of code:

        et_output         = lt_mapping_out

So it is ok, you have the mapping call, but I don't know if all the rest of the process was really "finalized" (call of API mapping in CI, via XI). I personnaly never used it, but I assume it should work.
I my opinion your process is supported by SAP:
- Extract materials from both R/3 and consolidate them as a single product in MDM.
- Distribute this product into SRM.
- Maintain contracts on those products.
- Distribute them to R/3 (The ECI call is also used during contract distribution).
- Call offs corrects in SRM and BW

I have created, material master with LSMW byt not updated SALES TEXT and Purchase order text with LSMW now i want to uplaod the sales and po text for material master can you give some link or ref. code to upload the text i have near 1000 items for which i want to uplaod text when i have done the recording with SHDB i have not found filed in recording.

For case A, create insp plan with usage "1- production" If you have one IP with this usage for given material then system will assign Plan to lot automatically. In your case for second plan update usage as 1.
For case B, system should assign 1st plan make sure for both plan udage is correct. for 1st plan usage should be 5 while 2nd plan usage should be 1. Now if your 1st have status 4 and key date before lot date then system will assign plan auto.

Problem with mass IDoc for Material Master

Hi All,
Can anyone suggest a solution to work with mass IDocs for Material master?
We have DEBMDM and CREMDM as mass capable IDocs for Customer and Vendor. How do we get mass Material Master IDocs from R/3 in a single XML file?
Also the standard Material repository supplied with SAP MDM 5.5 SP3 doesn't have any XSD definition for MATMDM. Can anyone throw some light on this problem?

Hello Pooja:
The standard way to do it is to generate a single file containing multiple idocs (And for the sake of performance, I suggest you stick to this technique).
In the case of material master, everything is straight forward. In the case of customer and vendor master, when data flows from R/3 to MDM no idoc conversion needs to be performed by XI.
However, for the case of customer and vendor master, when data flows from MDM to R/3, XI needs to separate the data in CREMDM to CREMAS and ADRMAS in order for R/3 to be able to process the idocs; as well as separate the data in DEBMDM to DEBMAS and ADRMAS.
The good thing is that you do not need to worry about all this mappings and conversions in XI. The only thing you need to do in XI is to import the standard business content for SAP MDM 5.5 into XI.

Avoiding non required view for material master

Hi,
If I do not wan to tuse all the views then how can avoid them at the time of creation of material.I mean system should only show me the views relevant for me.
What is the customization setting required to be done in IMG ?/

Material master creation activity is generally carried out by a central team.
The process flow is generally -
1.Creation of Basic data views,
2.Creation of other views (Like purchasing, Accounting etc)
So idelly i do not see any need to restrict views as the central team is generally aware of the process flow and responsibilities.
2. Alternatively, you can set "Default View" for any particular user ID.
From Consulting point of view, this should not lead to any development as this could be a matter of User discipline.
from OMS2 you can remove the view for a particular material type and which may not be correct.
