Workflow intiator changed when modify item

I have SharePoint 2010 List customized using InfoPath and workflow running using Nintex WF 2010 , the form is two parts , one is edited by user and second part is visible and can be edited only by admin, the weird behavior I have and occurs
randomly with no clear cause for it, when user submitted the form and workflow is started the Initiator= User , but when form is open and edit the Initiator is changed to admin user , what can cause Initiator to be changed in workflow
information , and does anyone got same issue before , its really frustrating.
P.S: again the behavior does not happen for all items it happens randomly and I cannot repro right away

List workflow with "Start workflow when an item is changed" will run twice when creating a new wiki page

I have created the following workflow on the wiki page library to run when an item is changed:-
And it will send emails as follow:-
Currently when a user creates a new wiki page and he enters the wiki page name.
Then he enters the content and click on save.
Then two duplicate emails from the workflow will be sent ? So can anyone advice why creating a new wiki page will fire the workflow twice ?

Have you see the library where the wiki pages are stored. You can see how many occurrences of the workflow has been run.
Anyway, instead of using "wait for", can we put a condition that says, if Assign To:Approver is not empty. then email.
i use if instead of wait and it worked well, thanks

Workflow to change item/file permissions using a people column on the List/Library?

SharePoint 2013 Online.
I have a Document library with users that can only add new items permission by default.
There is a new people column in that library
I presume I can manually change perimssions on one item/file to let a user have full control over that particular item.
Can a workflow be added to so that the user in that people column get's full control to the item on edit or new events in the Workflow?
Can all other individual users be removed with this permissions for that item from the events of the workflow?

In SharePoint on-premise, there are some workflow actions used to modify list item permission from SharePoint Designer workflow, like Add List Item Permissions, Replace List Item permissions. And these actions are only available in
Impersonation Step.
I’m not sure if it is similar in SharePoint online, you may check this. If there is any further question, I would like suggest you to give a new thread on

Sharepoint Workflow to change another item in the same library

Is it possible to change another item in the current library using a sharepoint workflow
I currently has a customised approval workflow that approves procedures. I would like this workflow to set the status of the previous version to archive when the current procedure is approved.

Hi Jack,
If the documents in your library are all word files and the names of the documents are named as"A001_Rev_+number", you take follow the steps below to update the status column.
Create a 2013 workflow associated with the library, and start the workflow when an item is created.
Select Start a task process.
Select If any value equals value and set it to be: If Variable: Outcome equals Approved.
Select Extract Substring of String from Index with Length, and set it to be:Copy from Current Item:Name, starting at 0 for 9 characters(Output to Variable: substring).
Select Set Workflow Variable and set it to be:Set Variable: string to Current Item:Name.
Select Replace Substring in String and set it to be:Replace Variable: substring with (space) in Variable: string(Output to Variable: output).
Select Do Calculation and set it to be:Calculate Variable: output to minus 1(Output to Variable: calc).
Select Update List Item to update the status column(refer to the picture below).
Select Go to a stage and set it to be:Go to End of Workflow.

Change in Work item Text for Approval Workflow WS14000133

Hi,
I need to change the work item text for Shopping Cart Approval Workflow WS14000133.
I have created an Attribute in Business Object BUS2121 and called the same attribute in work item text.
In PFTC -> Redefine Work item text - > and i have defined the work item text as well called the attribute from the container.
what the problem over here is - when I am passing the attribute in the work item text in the task, I am unable to see the work item text with the Dynamic Attribute but I am able to see the work item alone (not with the Dynamic attribut)
But when i debug the workflow from SWI1 then i can see the dynamic attribute in the Container of the workflow but nt in the approver's inbox in portal..
Can you please tell me - that why is this a strange behaviour that i can see the Dynamic attributed created initially in the workflow container of the Business Object but nt in the Approvers inbox either in Backend nor in the front end...

Any existing function to validate an item when other item has been changed?

Any existing function to validate an item when another item has been changed? Because these 2 fields are related. When one filed is changed, the other one should be blank and let the user to input again. I am using oracle custom.pll library.
Any ideas?

Thanks for posting your issue,
You can switch of alerts and set E-Mail Notification to Yes under your Workflow Tasks list > Settings > Advanced Settings. By doing so user specified in AssignedTo will receive e-mail notification when task is created and if task ownership is not changed
during your workflow this will be the only mail sent by system.
Since you are already using SharePoint designer you also have option to include Send an Email action in your workflow (after task is created). This option is better if you want to send some specific info to user.

Workflow not triggered when i have changed the PO

Hi,
We have custom fields (Price) in PO Header as well as in item. when we update in header the price should get distributed to items.
we have custom workflow evernt (changed) to update the items if user change in header. But the issue is if user changes the items and save the po, it is not updating immediatly. after we come back to Purcahse Order and save the purcahse order again then it updates the table.
Is there any reason why the event is not triggered when the PO was changed initially.

If you update a price in the header, how/why would that be distributed to the items? Is this a total price of the whole PO? Why not just have it in the header?

OK. Strange, but OK.

I thought it was supposed to happen when the users changed the header, not the items.
If you really have a workflow to update the items when the header is changed, then maybe it's not succeeding if the PO items are locked, eg by having them on your screen. Did the worklow actually start? Any error messages?

Name of track changes to modified date when importing mp4

I have two .mp4 files: (both names listed below are the filenames)
Valentines Day Torin.mp4 with a modified filed date of 02/15/2010
Phoebe Confirmation Entrance.mp4 with a modified date of 03/18/2010
When I import the Valentines Day Torin file, the filename stays the same. The "Name" field is also the filename. This is what I want.
When I import the Phoebe Confirmation Entrance, the filename stays the same. The "Name" field is changed to "Mar 18, 2010 3:52pm".
Anyone know why?
Also, does anyone know how to get iTunes to stop changing the modified date on files when you change any info in the "Get Info" area.
I find it quite hard to import a lot of home videos into Itunes. File name length limitations, changing of modified dates, just can't figure this out..
I have all my videos in order according to the modified date since titles can't be more than 36 characters, but can't figure out an easy way to sort chronologically.

Check the file withEXIF Viewer or Reveal to see what the EXIF Capture Date is. iPhoto uses that for photos from digital cameras.

VBU-FKSAA field not updated when the item category is changed

Hi,
The sales order is created with the item category ZZZZ which is not relevant for billing. So the VBUP-FKSAA value is blank which means not relevant for billing.
Now in the change mode, the item catg is changed to XXXX. this is relevant for billing. But even after changing the item catg the billing status is not changed. so the sales order can not be billed.
Please let me know if anyone has come across this problem and also the soution.

Thank You Vincent. It works for finish goods that currently have cost in the sap-bo (taking std or avg) . Do you what should I do when the item is receiving the first-transation and it is an inventory entry coming from DTW ? Because when I test this conditions, the field "price" is ignored and when I check the inventory entry sent using dtw the recorded cost is "cero".

Sales Order Workflow to trigger when there is change in PO date

Hi All
     I have a requirement, I have to trigger a work flow when ever there is a change in a po date of Sales Order(VA02). I have created a workflow and added entry into events tab of header, and in SWEC I have added an entry as follows
Change doc. object        VERKBELEG
Object Category            BOR Object type
Object Type                  BUS2032
Event                            CHANGED
in field restriction I have added the follow entry for puchase order date
Table            VBKD
Field Name   BSTKD
Old Value     *
New Value    *
But when ever I change the sales order the workflow is triggering when ever there is a change in any field instead of PO Date Field.
Whats wrong in my Workflow can anybody please help me.

Hi Ranjith,
Find a user-exit/BADi that triggers when the Sales order is saved. Now in this user-exit or BADi check the values for PO date (old value & new value). If both are same set a flag to Y and or else set it to X.
Now if the flag is X, use the Function module SAP_WAPI_CREATE_EVENT or SWE_EVENT_CREATE to trigger the workflow.

On the view create a new action. Fill only the Name and Text and leave the other items default.
In this event you can populate the table fields.
Bound this newly created action (event) to the onSelect property of the 'DropDownByIndex'.

"Last modified" attribute changes when opening a Excel-document

We are running Server 2008 R2 as terminal servers and fileserver.
When opening an Excel document stored on the fileserver so changes "date modified" at the opening regardless if you save the document or not. This is a problem for users who want to keep track of when the document has been changed "for real".
Now, "last modified" changes when the document was last read instead, this confuse the users...
If we test the same procedure on our older terminal server environment, Server 2003 or on our clients (Windows 7) it works how we wanted. The "last modified" only changes when you save the document, and not when you are opening it. Office
2007 is installed on both our new terminal server environment (Server 2008 R2) and the old one (Server 2003).
Can someone explain to me why it behaves like this? And if anyone got a solution? It's only occur on Excel-documents and not the others Office documents...
