Workflow is in process due to locking of work item

Hi,
I checked for one invoice document, workflow is in process. I saw it is stuck in one send mail step and analyse the workflow log, it is showing work item is locked against execution. I tried to execute the work item using SWIA, still it is not going to completed status still it is in ready status.
Can anybody tell me how to complete this work item so that workflow will be completed?

I have the following process,
1) Main contract (without line items )--> Yearly Contract-->Billing--> Renewal contract w.r.to First Year contract and this renewals will continue until the customer cancel the order.
Status will be as below,
Main Contract                   – No status ( Since, no item category referred in Copy control)
1 Year contract                 – Being processed.
1Year Billing                        - completed.
2nd year contract               – Being processed.
2nd Year Billing                    - completed.
Config settings:
In item category – Completion rule = C Item is completed after the target qty is fully referenced
In VTFA :In item level :
Billing qty = A     Order quantity less invoiced quantity
Pos./neg. quantity = +
Please advice to overcome this.
FYI:In contract line item --> status tab.

A is : Item is completed with the first reference. i will try with this but needs to check with the business if they have any partial qty might refer for Invoice.
But, as per existing config.
C - Item is completed after the target qty is fully referenced.
Which i am doing / referring for Invoice full qty. but i am getting " Not referenced" . Request to please make me understand the C functionality.- thanks.

"Workflow Template Create" screen appears while executing the work item.

I am learning the workflow. I have created a test workflow in which there is a user decision step and 2 mail sending steps for the outcomes of the user decision.The workflow is activated properly . When I excute the workflow the screen for "Workflow Template Create" opens everytime. When I go to the Business workpkace a mail is there in my inbox with the title as given in the user decision step. Again when i am trying to execute the work item in the inbox again the same screen for "Workflow Template create " is opening. I am totaly confused with this problem . Pls suggest what might be the reason..?

I think the Wflow Template Creation screen is not opening but your current session is getting closed so the previous session which is Wflow Create one which you have already opened is appearing. Please check your template design and act accordingly.

HCM Forms&Process :Authorization error while opening work item in the UWL

Hi,
The process has been started successfully and the work item was appeared in the UWL of MSS.
But when I try to open the work item , I got the following errors:
"User XXXX doesnot have authorization on pernr 8000123"
"You are not authorized to process this process"
When I checked, the User XXXX has the required roles for authorization such as SAP_ASR_MANAGER and SAP_ASR_EMPLOYEE and the authorization object P_ASRCONT has been assigned to it as well.
Still why these errors are coming?
Does anybody know about it?

I have had exactly the same error. Make sure you have read the help.sap.com documentation carefully:
http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/43/3d8f8118391bcbe10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm. The minimum requirement is access to one infotype (it does not matter whether there is data in the infotype and it does not matter which infotype you choose) via CHECK_MIN_PERNR_AUTHORIZATION of BAdI HRPAD00AUTH_CHECK. More specifically, we solved it be providing access to infotype 0002 to all employees.
Furthermore, check what level of authorizations you have set in the config for the activities.
IMG->Personnel Management->HR Administrative Services->Authorizations->Define Authorization Method for Activities (All Processes) or Define Authorization Methods for Activities (for Each Process Group).
This should help you solve your problem.

Pulling Multiple Approver Names from Workflow Logs for One Work Item

I have a workflow design which requires multiple approvals per single work item. I happen to have another functional design that is also pulling data from those same workflow logs. Assuming I have multiple approvals at various levels for a single work item which table do I need to reference along with which fields to reference the different approvers per level of approval?

Collections Work Item (Processing deadline)

Hello Colleagues,
I am trying to determine how the Processing deadline works for Collections Work Items in IS-U.
If I assign a Work Item Category a Processing deadline of 7 days, (Mandatory = Blank) and I trigger a Work Item today, I can see that the Run Date on the header table DFKKWL is set to 7 days past the creation date of the Worklist.
However, when I do run dunning with Issue date 7 days later, the Work Item is not closed (Still Open). This is not an enforcement work item.
If you have successfully worked with Processing Deadlines before, I'd really appreciate it if you could share your experiences.

in my project we want to use processing deadlines to automatically close work items when run date is past for work items (mandatory= blank and enforcement= blank) which are still open (statuts New or In process). This should be done before dunning is launched each day.
I understood that the processing deadline is informational and has no functionality in dunning.
But I was hoping that a standard way would exist do it? (in function module FKK_0350_WLI_CREATE_AND_CLOSE, or other standard program to launch)
I didn't find anything about that and any help would be appreciated.

Terminating Event to Event Queue due to Work Item Lock

I have a dialog workflow task based on an asynchronous method defined with a terminating event. When the user executes the work item, the method generates the terminating event (via a V2 change document) but the work item is enqueued (locked) by the same user (locked when they execute the work item from SBWP) and therefore the terminating event goes into error and is placed in the event queue. The background job which processes the event queue does not redeliver the event so it stays in the event queue and the work item fails to complete. Other than dequeing the work item lock myself with a function call how do I get around this catch 22?

Actually, the locking happens whether I have the task as asynchronous or synchronous. The problem is the timing. If the user does not release the lock (by backing out of the dialog which is executed) prior to the terminating event attempting to enqueue and complete the work item then the event goes into error and is inserted into the event queue (and lingers there indefinitely, almost). Another issue with the asynchronous approach is that even if the user backs out of the dialog before the event actually attempts to complete the work item they will still see the work item in the inbox unless they click the refresh button when they get back to the inbox.
I have changed the task to synchronous but here is my scenario and another question.
The process being workflowed is the approval of service entrysheets (similar to an invoice if you are not familiar with External Services). In our process, there are a large number of documents being created and requiring approval by particular approvers. It is a normal scenario for an approver to have, lets say 25 documents in his inbox awaiting approval. It was not practical for him to have to navigate back and forth between his inbox and the approval task screen. Therefore, I give the users the option of (when executing a work item) having all the documents in his in-box (for this particular task) be presented in an approval list screen. They can then do a mass approval of the 25 documents with 1 click and 1 navigation. This list screen is also available to be executed outside workflow via a tcode. So, when the user executes the mass approval (either from the inbox or outside workflow) the work items are terminated via the terminating event assigned to the approval task.
A couple of issues remaining:
1) Given my example of 25 work items (user executes 1 work item from in-box
and I displayed all 25) being approved, when the user returns to the in-box, the 24
items remain in his inbox until he clicks the refresh button since these were not actually "executed" from the workflow engines point of view. However, these were terminated successfully because they were not "locked".
<b>Question:</b> Is there a way (user exit?) to trigger the inbox refresh automatically.
2) Now, the issue with the actual work item which the user executes from the inbox. As I mentioned, the work item is locked as soon as the user executes it and is not released until they back out of the dialog or logoff. So, here is what happens: If the terminating event is sent before the lock is released the event is sent to the event queue. If they then back out back to the in-box, its OK since I put some code in the SWO1 object type program (rememeber, its now synchronous) which will determine if they did the approval/rejection and the work item will complete and the event in the event queue will be deleted the next time the Event Queue Background job runs (it deletes any events for work items already in COMPLETED status). However, lets say they simply log off rather than backing up to the in-box or they don't do anything and are eventually logged off by timeout. In this case the code in the object type program to determine if the approval/rejection was done does not get executed (control does not return to the object type program) and the work item remains in "STARTED" status and remains in the users inbox and the event is in the event queue. So, now we have a work item that should be completed still sitting in the users in-box and the terminating event in the event queue. So the next time the user goes to their inbox the work item is still there. The interesting thing is that though this may be confusing to the user, if they then attempt to execute the work item, they will get a message: "Work item currently being completed by event" (Message SWF_RUN 644) and the event sitting in the event queue gets redelivered and completes the work item. To alleviate this problem I was thinking of adding a call to SAP_WAPI_WORKITEM_COMPLETE in the approval list screen after they do the approval but I'm guessing it wont work since it probably will try to enqueue the work item and it will still be locked.

Hi Experts,
We have many File to EDI scenarios wherein XI System pick up the XML and sent to customers via EDI. Recently we faced a problem so created a Back-up System (Production copy) and tested successfully. After sometime the messages were routed to this back-up system and when we notice it and then stopped the back-up system. All the messages that were routed to back-up system, we try to send the same messages from the actually Production system to our customers. Now the problem is XI system (Production system) is unable to pick these files and I check the communication monitoring and encountered the below error message.
Could not process due to error: com.sap.aii.adapter.file.ftp.FTPEx: 550.550
Can anyone let me know how to fix the issue or what needs to be done?

Hi,
It seems to be problem with permission of files. Please ask your basis to do following:
1. Set the permissions to FTP User you are using as 777 rights(full access to read , write and delete)
2.If you have access to PI server, try to telnet /connect to ftp using command prompt (open ftp .....) the FTP server form there, you should see the same error there , inform this to your network guys.
3.Clear all the files places already in the ftp (take backup) and test afresh after permissions are set by basis team.

How do i determine what processes have a lock on a file?

the closest method i could find was:

however, FileChannel#tryLock doesn't identify what processes have a lock on the file.

IDoc getting scheduled in stead of processed due to no resources available

I know this is supposed to go into Basis-forum, but I can't find applicable one. If you can redirect me please do so.
Setup:
Solution Manager, CUA & ECC6
Issue:
Sometimes when triggering changes from CUA to an ECC client several IDocs are fired towards that client.
(User Master Record changes, unlocks, role assignments, etc.).
Looking in BD87 I sometimes see that of these IDocs, some are processed directly (transferred to application),
However some of them remain in Status 64 (IDoc ready to be transferred to application).
If I Right-Click -> Process, they are handled perfectly so why did they have to be waiting?
The reason SAP throws for these IDocs is:
Immediate Processing in Job '0000000000005010 '
Message no. EA187
Diagnosis
At the time of IDoc generation, there were no resources for immediate processing and your system is configured so that if this happens, IDoc processing should be started in a job. Therefore, the job '0000000000005010' was started.
Procedure
If the IDoc still has status 64, look for the cause of the error in the log for that job.
Question:
We have via WE20 profiles set to process all IDocs immediately, then why do some of them still get
scheduled in jobs? (Due to lack of resources for immediate processing?).
Where can I check these 'resources' ?

Yes, I have been looking into both available worker processes all seem fine. Also I've been checking to pick up
those IDocs that are in wait-status to be picked up by a (to be) scheduled job.
However a few questions:
- is it common that CUA changes fire multiple IDocs? (in my case 3, only for something trivial as removing 1 composite role
on a CUA-child system with 1 end user
- what I don't really understand yet is if this is fired in batches of (in this case) only 3 IDocs, how come the first is processed and
the other 2 are not? What is blocking that? Is 1 worker process used for processing each IDoc or 1 worker process for all 3 IDocs? To jump into your comment of "when a lot of IDocs are fired", as said: they're only 3.
- can it be that the 'program" that processes the 1st IDoc change to the user master record is then 'occupying' the change mode and that therefore the other 2 are not able to being processed or can it be that the changes just come too fast after one another?
- I would think that when CUA is installed and RFCs and IDoc types are correctly configured this resource problem
should not act up with standard SAP ECC6 settings, for firing something trivial/simple as a composite role change
- last question: if I should schedule a job to pick up the IDocs that are in waiting-to-be-processed status, what is common
interval for this? (every minute? every 5 minutes?) and what's the program to schedule?
EDIT: found at least answer to this question:
RBDAPP01. Processes inbound IDocs (status 64) that have been buffered to support mass
processing. The use of RBDAPP01 in the process flow is described in Chapter 4, "The Inbound EDI
Process." Steps to execute the RBDAPP01 program are listed in Chapter 10, "Testing the EDI
Interface."
Looks strange to me as then the point of CUA making direct changes is somewhat undermined. In this case our CUA is being fed from a Sun IDM system, and the changes on SAP landscape will be 'less near-realtime', if I express that correctly.
Your thoughts are highly appreciated.

I have very Big problem it is occured in production i need help vary urgent for this .
Work flow Back Ground Process Running More than 5 hrs,actualy Daily it is running only below 2 min .but yesterday onwords it is running more than 5 hrs.but this workflow back ground process running long time only one item_type='REQAPPRV' REMAING item_types running normaly.
i did have any root cause for this performance issue plz let me know any one for this problem what is the root cause.

Ess/Leave Workflow Still In Process(In a specific snario when Escalated )

I have a problem with Ess/Leave workflow.
when the leave is applied from the portal which is triggering workflow and reching to the right agent and when the leave is withdrawn , then which is completing the workflow which is fine.
Recently i have added Escalation functionality using deadline monitoring which is working fine.
But when the leave request is escalated and withdrawn from the initiator is not changing the status of the workflow to be completed and still continuing in the Still In Process.
To complete the workflow ,there is an wait event after the approval process which is waiting for the status change for posted or withdrawn or error and working fine when the work item stayed with the direct manager and no escallation is happend.
When Escalation happend and the leave is withdrawn the status is changing in the workflow container to withdrawn but the event is not firing in the wokflow which needs to be triggered to complete the workflow which is not happening and the work item keeps on escalating to the other managers.
Please help me ASAP and let me know if anybody not clear about anything.

I m not sure that wether i explained properly or not.But i will try to explain more elobrately.
My leave request workflow is Zworkflow which is working fine in the production.Recently in the last month business request for escalation of leave request when direct manager not approved with in the time frame.
So i added latest end to the Approve task which uses the ABAP class CL_PT_REQ_WF_ATTRIBS and Method Dummy.
So the task has 3 outcomes one is deadline reached,process obsolete and processed. and after that i added a loop which will create new work item when escalated.
When i apply a leave on the portal the workflow is triggering and stopping in the Approve step in the log which is fine and when i with withdrawn the leave without any escallation it is taking one of the brach Processed which i mentioned above and reaching to the event and completing the workflow which is 100%.
When the direct manager doe'nt approve then it is escallating to the next level manager which is fine.Once the escallation happen and the leave is withdrawn by the Employee(Initiator) then it is not taking any of the 3 paths which i mentioned above and not reacting at all.But the status in the workflow container REQ.STATUS is changing to "WITHDRAWN".
The same thing is happening for the APPROVE once escallation happens.It keeps on escallating even the leave is approved and posted in the database.
Please reply me if you are not clear.

i used to work on oracle 11g xe R2 with glassfish 3.1.1. apex 4.1 on win 2008 server . but recently i have to learn the multimedia features. so, i downloaded oracle Standard edition 11g R2.
I installed it on the old installation of XE. in the installation I chose: the UPGRADE option.
then I uninstalled glassfish 3.1 and installed Glassfish 3.2.
When i tried to configure the listener, i get this error :
Request could not be processed due to error:
Bad Request
The HTTP client sent a request that this server could not understand.I hope that you are able to help for all my apps on this database ..

which port does your GF 3.2 use? Could it be you are (back) on port 8080 and your database upgrade also (re)enabled XDB HTTP server on that (default) port?

Use "top" or "ps" on linux to look at the memory and file handle consumption for the crystal processes. You should also double-check ulimit.
It could also be that other non-boe processes are running on your machine and competing for resources. Also, check if there are any clues in the system logs and look for any core files that could be in your bin directories.

Hi all,
We have a server that has hung up a few times in the past weeks. Before the server becomes unresponsive the event log show several of the errors below. The server still pings and attempts to authenticate an RDP session but all remote command time out. The server eventually needs to be hard booted. Utilization reports do not show a lack of available resources.
I can't seem to find much on this error.
Specifics are below. Thanks for any help.
