Workflow Manager giving me lots of trouble

While trying to install workflow manger on my sharepoint 2013 server I am getting this error when trying to join an existing farm, Can't open Service Control Manager : Access Denied. Quite simply how do I fix this?

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you failed to install workflow manager 1.0.
Please make sure you install Workflow Manger correctly. You can refer to:
Install and configure workflow for SharePoint Server 2013
In addition, please make sure the checkbox “Bypass proxy server for local addresses” was unchecked in the Internet Settings (Control Panel » Internet Options » Connections tab » LAN settings).

    it works...
    i tried reinstalling Netweaver etc.
    using 2.0.16 version of Netweaver...

    xACF is installed.
Can someone suggest how to get rid of this really bugging problem.

I am loathe to suggest trying a three key depressed 'hard reset" as this would delete all user data and pre-installed media/wallpapers from both C:\ and E:\, but as a last resort and pre-cursor to visiting Nokia Care facility for device software to be re-installed it might be worth a go!

  • Any reference tell me why default install of Workflow manager is giving "BUILTIN\Administrators" permission?

I installed Workflow manager for SharePoint 2013. After install completed I found the related databases (SbGatewayDatabase,
SbManagementDB) have granted permission to "BUILTIN\Administrators". My question is why it is not granting to specific account like the farm admin or the search engine crawler? Can I change it after installation? Thank you. It is not much article
    online talk about workflow manager.

HI Mark,Is the user name that your trying to install is already in Built-In,not necessary to change the permissions. If its not, then you can  change the account.

  • Trouble in installing Workflow Manager 1.0

    Hi All,
When I tried to install Workflow Manager 1.0 , I got the following error.
I downloaded the Web Platform Installer and installed it.
Still I get the same error.
Please help me to troubleshoot the error.

    Hi Muthukumar;
You must ensure Web Platform Installer version should be same on the server where you are downloading Workflow Manager 1.0 files and on the server where you are installing Workflow Manager 1.0 files for offline installation scenarios.Workflow Manager 1.0
Installation requires valid Web Platform Installer Version on Workflow Server.
If you want to install Workflow Manager 1.0 on servers without internet connectivity, you will run into problems with the Web Platform Installer, the only tool Workflow Manager 1.0 can be installed with.
There is a command line tool of Web Platform Installer, where you can download the installation files and all of its dependencies to a internet accessible machine, move it over to one of your servers and install it in offline mode.
Take the following steps to do so:
    Download the
WebPICMD.exe Package from the MS Download Center and unzip it to a folder (C:\WebPICMD\WebPICMD.exe in our case)
Open a Command Prompt, navigate to the folder you extracted the tool and execute the following command:
    WebpiCmd.exe /Offline /Products:WorkflowManager /Path:D:\Temp\WorkflowManager\
This will initiate a download with all the related components into the provided folder.
Copy the WebPICMD.exe to the server where you want to install the WorkflowManager 1.0, in our example to
    D:\Temp\WebPICMD\WebPICMD.exe
Copy the downloaded files to your server where you want to install the WorkflowManager 1.0, in our example to
    D:\Temp\WorkflowManager
Open a Command Prompt, navigate to the folder you copied the WebPICMD.exe tool and execute the following command:
    WebPICMD.exe /Install /Products:WorkflowManager
    /AcceptEULA /SuppressReboot
/Log:./WorkflowManager.log /Xml:file:///D:\Temp\WorkflowManager\feeds\shadow-webproductlist.xmlThis will initiate the installation of the Workflow Manager 1.0 and its dependencies. The outcome of the installation will be logged to the WorkflowManager.log
file. The above line will suppress reboots and will accept the license terms automatically.
A log file will be created at the following path, where you can see the process and the warnings/errors/information about the installation:
    %localappdata%\microsoft\web platform installer\logs\webpicmd

  • Workflow Manager Configuration Wizard is not working with USER ID

    Hello everyone,
       I
have successfully installed Workflow Manager 1.0 (and its prerequisites) on my Server 2008 R2 SP1 machine that is hosting Sharepoint 2013.  I attempt to go into the Workflow Manager Configuration.  That comes up and asks me if I want to Create
new farm with Default Settings, New Farm with custom settings, or existing farm.  I've tried both Default settings AND Custom settings.
                When
the configuration wizard comes up, I attempt to fill out the necessary information.  It seems to connect to the SQL server without a problem.  I only run into an issue when setting the USER ID.  The program totally freezes up and force closes.
                I
have verified that the USERID is in the correct format and tried multiple different formats.  The problem is that the moment I move the cursor from the USERID field to ANY other field, the program force closes.  I'm not able to hit submit, I'm not
able to change any other options.  The moment USERID is manipulated or the cursor LEAVES the USERID field, the program force closes.  It won't even allow me to put in a password before it force closes.
                 Customer
domain is running in Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edittion SP2.
    Any
    ideas?
I have installed also cumulative update to avoid crash but still I am getting force to close workflow wizard. I have used users which are already added in administrator groups.
We are using 3 tier architecture for Sharepoint 2013.
Also we have made Alias of Domain controller. Eg:-Alias is "labs" for domain "xyz.ab.com".
And we are using labs\spadmin and labs\spservice for Workflow Manager Configuration 1.0
Is there any issue with Domain Alias "labs" as Workflow gives error  "Specified RunAs account is invalid" or "Force close the application".

have copied the errors from event viewer below:

Check to ensure that the user you're running the wizard as has access to the Users and Computers folders in Active Directory. I had trouble with the "specified RunAs account is invalid" message, and when I granted the AD rights, I was able to proceed.
The issue would be that the user executing the wizard isn't able to query AD to look up the specified user. The RunAs account you're specifying is probably fine.

  • Best Practice on installing Workflow Manager on a separate box

    Hi,
We are installing Workflow Manager 1.0 to work with our SP2013 farm, which is fairly simple.
However we anticipate a significant  amount of workflow work in the future.
Could you please share your thoughts/experience/lessons learnt on Having WF Manager on a separate box compared to having it on the same box as SP2013 Front end server in terms of
    1. Scalability
    2. Stability
    3. Ease of Installation/Management
    etc
    Thanks a lot.

  • 401 Unauthorized Error when Registering Workflow Manager

I have installed the workflow manager successfully. However, when I try to run Register-SPWorkflowService I get a 401 Unauthorized error. I am running SharePoint 2013 Management Shell as administrator.
When I use internet explorer to browse to https://FQDNofServer:12290 I get prompted for my password 3 times and then get the Not Authorized Error here as well. I have tried this from the local host as well as remote machines with the same result therefore,
I don't think I need to disable loopback check.
My user is a member of the Workflow AdminGroup as well as a local admin, farm administrator and I also added my account as an administrator for the Workflow Service Application in Central Administration. I also tried giving the workflow service account full
    read on the web application.
I cannot find anything in the ULS logs or windows event viewer logs when the login fails. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank You.

perhaps you can elaborate me more detail regarding this,

  • WorkFlow Manager will not install via WebPICmd

I cannot install workflow manager via the online or offline modes.  I select the following link
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj193448.aspx then the installation link and run the workflowmanager.exe and get a WPI v4.6 message "...couldn't find the product you tried
    to install"
If I go to the download center and download the workflow Manager and then run it I get an "invalid command..." error message.
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35375
I tried following the offline option using the webPICMD cmd below however that does not work... it returns "Can't find product with id WorkflowManager
    webpicmd /offline /Products:WorkflowManager /Path:c:\WorkflowManagerFiles
    If I try
webpicmd /offline /Products:Workflow /Path:c:\WorkflowManagerFiles  it does appear to work in that I do not get the above error message
If I run a webpicmd /list /listoption:all  I do not see the workflow products listed
    I did then try
WebpiCmd.exe /Install /Products:Workflow /XML:c:/WorkflowManagerFiles/feeds/latest/originalfeeds/webproductlist.xml and it says "No products to be installed (either not available or already installed)"
I looked at a lot of sites that talk about how to do this and I noticed that none of the links have the correct path.. they are all missing /originalfeeds part of the path.  So maybe I am missing
    something here
I have tried this on 2 separate new Server builds  2012 and 2012 R2, both new installs, all updates applied and attached to the domain, nothing else done to the servers.  (I assume SP2013
does not need to be installed on this Server, its just for the workflow function)
The WorkFlow Client appears to work for both options, in that when I click on the install from the web the Web Installer has selected 1 item and I could proceed with the install
    Any ideas?

  • Workflow Manager with OEM

    Hello,
Having some trouble setting up Workflow. Workflow server is installed and accessible. However, when attempting to access the Workflow Manager from OEM, OEM is generating the URL using the local machine and no port number instead of the Workflow Server and port number. I suspect this is a configuration issue, but am unsure how to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi all,
Never mind. Found the solution on Metalink. However, we are now getting a different error. It is now hitting the correct server, but we are getting a 'Page Not Found' error. Any ideas?

  • Workflow Manager - Add-WFHost fails with "Could not load file" error

Hello! I'm not sure that its Sharepoint related topic but..
I'm trying to install Workflow Manager using Powershell. I'm successfully created ServiceBus farm, create namespace, Add-SBhost etc. Also, i created WF Farm using New-WFFarm.
Now i'm got SB Configuration and try to add my first host to WF Farm using standard cmdlets:
    $SBClientConfiguration = Get-SBClientConfiguration -Namespaces 'WorkflowDefaultNamespace'
(it successfuly gives me some endpoint definitions)
    Add-WFHost -WFFarmDBConnectionString $WFFarmDBConStr -RunAsPassword $ServiceAccountPassword -EnableFirewallRules $true -SBClientConfiguration $SBClientConfiguration -CertificateAutoGenerationKey $CertificateAutoGenerationKey
    where
$WFFarmDBConStr is typical connection string, i also used this to Get-WFFarm with no errors.
$ServiceAccountPassword and $CertificateAutoGenerationKey are secure strings.
But trouble appears with SBClientConfiguration, cmdlet returns error:
"Cannot validate argument on parameter 'SBClientConiguration'. Could not load file or assebly 'Microsoft.ServiceBus, Version=1.8.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=<SomeTokenSymbolsHere> or one of its dependencies. The system cannot
    find the file specified."
What file it tries to load? I've installed all WorkflowManager binaries with
webpicmd /Install /Product:WorkflowManagerRefresh key and don't know, what can be cause.

    Hi lehus,
According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you configured Workflow Manager using PowerShell.
Please try to use the following PowerShell command, compare the result:
    Add-WFHost -WFFarmDBConnectionString $WFFarmDBConStr -RunAsPassword $ServiceAccountPassword -EnableFirewallRules $true -SBClientConfiguration $SBClientConfiguration
    –EnableHttpPort -CertificateAutoGenerationKey $CertificateAutoGenerationKey
    -Verbose
    Check your process as:
    http://lennytech.wordpress.com/2013/06/02/configuring-workflow-manager-1-0-using-powershell/
In addition, whether you could install and configure Workflow Manager with Workflow Manager Configuration Wizard. Please have a try as:
    http://prabathf.blogspot.com/2013/02/installing-and-configuring-workflow-for.html
    I hope this helps.

  • Open Source for Workflow Management

    Hello All,
a colleague of mine told me that he heard about an open source tool for Workflow Management.
Is it right that there is an open source product?
I don't know any open source products in the world of SAP.

  • Error while trying to publish 2013 workflow via designer. Probably a workflow manager backend user account issue?

Hello, I am getting error while publishing the 2013 workflow via designer. Also, under sharepoint designer if I try to delete any workflow then the page just refreshes and the workflow does not get deleted.
I checked the services.msc and found that the workflow backend service was stopped. (this happened as the password of the user under which this serivce was running had changed).
So, the network admin changed the service user to LOCAL SYSTEM and started the service.
Now, the workflow backend service is started. We have run the iisreset also.
However, I am still getting the same error:-
System.IO.InvalidDataException: A response was returned that did not come from the Workflow Manager. Status code = 503:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN""http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
    <HTML><HEAD><TITLE>Service Unavailable</TITLE>
    <META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" Content="text/html; charset=us-ascii"></HEAD>
    <BODY><h2>Service Unavailable</h2>
    <hr><p>HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable.</p>
    </BODY></HTML>
    Client ActivityId : ee94689c-4e08-b055-fe9c-268d7a94
    Please find attached snapshot.
Is the error as a result of the change in service user? Can you tell me what priviledges should the account running the workflow backend service must have?
    UPDATE 1:-
We have set the workflow service backend account user as farm admin and also tried to set it to site admin. The service is re-started. Now, for a new web application,
I can delete workflows. However, for existing site, I am not able to delete the existing workflows.. Also, I am not able to publish workflows (present under new and previous sites) and the error is same as described earlier.

    Hi Nachiket,
According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error while publishing the 2013 workflow via SharePoint 2013 Designer.
As you have changed the password of this service. Please open IIS and make sure identify of the WorkflowMgmtPool is correct, you can re-type the identify. Then  make this pool is started.
Open Services, find Service Bus Message Broker service and Windows Fabric Host Service. Make sure they are running. If not, firstly, start Windows Fabric Host Service, then start Service Bus Message Broker service. If Service Bus Message Broker service is
    started, stop and re-start it.

  • I need to configure Acrobat to display PDF files in Safari, but I have a lot of troubles to do it.I have OX S yosemite, I unistalled adobe acrobat, I closed safary and I installed the new version of adobe acrobat.

    Dear everyone
I need to configure Acrobat to display PDF files in Safari, but I have a lot of troubles to do it.
I read a european commission document explaining that
    http://ec.europa.eu/research/participants/data/support/sep_usermanual.pdf
If Safari does not display pdf forms in the browser window, uninstall all older versions of Adobe Reader and download the most recent one. First close Safari and then install Reader. Launch Safari and you ought to be able to open the pdf files inside the Safari window. If you install Adobe Reader 10.1.x without first closing Safari, Safari will not display the pdf file inside its browser window until it is re-launched. For further help, please see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/troubleshoot-safari-plug-acrobat-x.html
I have OX S yosemite, I unistalled adobe acrobat, I closed safary and I installed the new version of adobe acrobat
but when I open a web page that I need to allow me to display and modify PDF files it is not working.
I checked the following web page
    Troubleshoot Safari plug-in | Acrobat X, Reader X
    that is recommending the following:
The AdobePDFViewer plug-in is used to display PDF files in Safari using Acrobat and Reader.
This plug-in is installed as part of the Acrobat X or Reader X installation. The location of this plug-in is:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin
but after the new installation with this folder is completely empty and I am still
    unable to open these pdf.
Does anybody knows anything else I can do?
    Best regards
    Ramon
