Workflow - Prefix Number DEV/QUA/PRO

Hi friends,
I'm configuring a wf and I'm transporting it from DEV to QUA. I know that I have to configurate the Prefix Number to tasks. I've created it to DEV and it was transported. But it doesn't work.
Do I need to create a new prefix to use on QUA and after that ... a new to PRO too ?

I'm trying to configurate the workflow on QUA 'cause I've already developd and configurated it on DEV, ok ?
so, I'm trying to configurate on QUA on transaction SWU3 witch is saying me that I have to configurate the prefixes for this client. So I'm using OOW4 for this. On OOW4, I'm trying to configure this so the wf system accept and know the tasks I've configurated on DEV on QUA system too.
Problems:
1-I remember now that I've already configurated it on DEV, creating a 990 prefix to tasks, so, I've created all standard tasks (on pftc: this tasks, in a wf, call an object  method crteated on swo1) on DEV with this prefix 990...1, 990...2, etc.
2-On QUA System, for these tasks, I have to set the responsables again on QUA too, so I'm not archiving this objective, coz sap say I haven't autorization for this.
3-Each task, I have to set the responsable on QUA now.... but when I enter to set it, it doesn't show the line with yellow color with the description "general task"... too.
an another problem (How to set a user on a background task witch executes a MIGO, so sap system is setting with WF-BATCH on MIGO) I'm post in the forum now.

    Every workflow definition is assigned with an 8-digitsnumber with the prefix WS
    Thefirst 3digits in the above 8 -digitsnumber is common for all the workflowcreated in specific client. please note that this prefix is not common for all the clients. 
    For e.g., If the workflow definition is saved with u2018WS95000052u2019, then it means that 950 is the Prefix and is common for all the workflow definitions created in that client.
    1)go to transaction"SWU3' (Automatic Workflow Customizing) 
    2) select'maintain definition environmenttu2019 and click on expand.
    3) select 'maintain prefix number'u2019option&right click on it.
    4)click on 'execute Activityu2019
    it display the prevfix numbers assigned to diffrent clients.
    Tochange the prefix numbers click on change mode(ctrl+f1) 
    Make a note of all the informationlike sap system, client&package before changing
    select the record to be changed:
    Click on delete icon:
    Click again on delete. Entire record gets deleted. 
    Click on u2018Createu2019 icon:
    Give the Prefix number as u2018953u2019 (new number) and click on save.
    Enter the package name and click on u2018continueu2019.
    Henceforth, all the workflow definitions would have the prefix 953.

    Hi Ya Wang,
        You have to do all workflow customizing settings in the system before you are going to start workflow development or run the workflow in the very beging stage.
        After u completed the workflow customizing, system will allocate unique prefix number to each system. we need not bother about those things.
        To do those Setting we have to go to the Transaction <b>SWU3</b> and do all customizing there itself.
        Please let me know that still u r NOT clear.

  • Prefix Number range: Transport number range

    Hi All,
          Here is the situation. there are 2 dev servers. the prefix number range in both are maintained as 901 . The workflows will be trasported to a single prod servers. Now as i understand this will create some trouble in prod coz two workflows in two system might have the same number.
          Now I think maintaining different number range might help. but when transporting to prod how willl this number range will be taken into account. I mean how to make sure that 901 will be transported as 901 and same as 902 range? Do i need to maintain some config in prod system or just reserving both the number ranges 901 and 902 in prod will solve the issue? Just need some confirmation ..

    Exactly. The numeric ID that is assigned to your workflow template follows it through the transport system in the same way that the include for a function module follows it.
    The difference between workflow templates and reports (in this matter) is that you are not allowed to define the program name of the workflow template. Instead it is composed from the prefix and the next available number in that prefix range.

  • Configure the work flow-maintain prefix number

    I am trying to configure the work flow using SWU3, to maintain prefix number, systems asking for the prefix number, which number I have to give, what is the criterion for defining this number
    For development the prefix number is 999
    For production which number I have to maintain,

    The Prefix number doesn't get transported to production.
    What i meant is when you create a workflow in Dev the 1st 3 digits would be 999XXXXX.
    So when you transport the workflow from Dev to Prod, the workflow which you created moves into Prod.
    As far as i understand, prefix number is required to maintain in Dev to create custom workflow templates. But in Prod, no one is going to create workflow from scratch and hence Prefix maintanence in Prod is not required.
    Try out this in Quality or any other test system apart from you Dev if you can.
    1) Transport the workflow from Dev to Quality.
    2) Dont maintain the prefix in quality system.
    3) check if the workflow is working or not in quality.

  • Transport Request Workflow Prefix

    hi,
    all my Workflows are working in DEV system,
    i transported all my requests to QAS,
    but in QAS the SWU3 under Maintain Prefix Numbers, its showing (X) Red,
    i do not know when settings were done in DEV did it ask request for Maintain Prefix.
    So now my prob is in QAS Maintain Prefix is Red (X), how do i solve my problem.

    It happened to me and I solved this following exactly this steps:
    You have to configure to PRD first->transportate the request up to PRD, QA second->transportate the request up to QA and DEV is the last one and don't need to transportate.
    1- configuring prefix to PRD system
    - On DEV system, go to the maintain prefix number OOW4 and change the column SAP System to PRD system, change Client to the client used on PRD system and save;
    - Transportate the request;
    - at the end of these steps you will be production prefix number is already configured.
    2- configuring prefix to QA system
    - On DEV system, go to the maintain prefix number OOW4 and change the column SAP System to QA system, change Client to the client used on QA system and save;
    - Transportate the request;
    - at the end of these steps you will be QA prefix number is already configured.
    3- configuring prefix to DEV system again.
    - On DEV system, go to the maintain prefix number OOW4 and change the column SAP System to DEV system, change Client to the client used on DEV system and save;
    - Here don't need to Transportate the request, but here on DEV you can change to another one when you need to transportate in the future;
    - at the end of these steps you will be DEV prefix number is already configured.

       I am workflow learner, I am having theoretical knowledge on it.
    Now, I started to practice practically in my IDES server.
    I am getting an error message while I am trying to save my standard task with my object type and method and event (which were already created in SWO1).
      My error message details.....
    Prefix number: entry missing for system EC5 client 800
    Message no. 5W023
    Diagnosis
    Tasks, rules, and workflow definitions require an ID that is unique throughout all systems and clients. In this way, you can ensure that you can transport these objects from one system into another at any time (without restrictions). From a technical point of view, the uniqueness of the ID is ensured by what is known as a "prefix number". You can define a separate prefix number for every system and every client in table T78NR.
    System response
    If a prefix number is not defined in the client in which you are currently working, it is not possible to maintain (maintenance terminates).
    Even I tried to create on entry in the table T78NR, but as that is standard table, I am unable to make an entry.
    Hope we have to configure the workflow, I am not having any Basis consultant with me. Can anyone help to cross this problem.

    As honestly speaking i am new to SAP Workflow. Can u please please guide me the instruction and document if any. I am practising in Test Server machine. I will be really happy that if u all GEMS helps me to get out of it.
    in Prefix number OOW4, system is asking me to enter, the Prefix number, Interval start, Interval End, and Check Sum.
    I entere the same 980 in prefix number, and i dont know what to enter the Interval start and interval end and check sum.
    Also there is some msg coming when i tried to manage some values, " NO Intervals can be reserved for this prefix number" - MSg No: 5W179.
    Please gurus help me.

  • Workflow Prefix creation problem.

    Hi Experts,
      When I try to create a new prefix in my development system it is not asking me the transport request but when I save the prefix does not appear in the list.
      I am sure that there is no prefix number existing for the present system and client combination.

    Hi,
    It is the right behaviour of the SAP system that you're not prompted for a transport request (it only makes sense on a development system, unless you want to develop on QAS and PRD).
    Did you check in SWU3 that the prefix number doesn't exist for workflow templates?

    Hi Angela,
    Please check if the Prefix number is maintained in SWU3 t-code.
    Go to Maintain Definition Environment -> Maintain Prefix Numbers and check if the prefix number is maintained.

    Check the user default settings in SU01D tcode in dev and pro.
    SU01D -> enter ur user id -> goto Default tab and check the decimal notation.
    I guess it is 1,234,567.89 in DEV and 1.234.567,89 in PRO.
    Please make sure that this setting is same in DEV and PRO.
    you can ask your basis consultant to changes the settings....

    WS20000081  and WS04200009 are triggering  when i applied a leave.But i need to add some amore task in that.For that i created the Customized workflow.Then we tried to create Rule groups with custom workflow id number in ESS settiongs.It was saying that ws99900009 is unknown.And we tried to replace the WS20000081 by ws99900009.It was alos saying that ws99900009 transaction is unknown.
    So pls guide me how to convert ws99900009 into transaction?
