Though I do not have direct exposure to IS-Retail, but the processes do not vary much depending upon which IS is it. Processes vary depending upon the customer's end needs. i.e., Mostly on reports you want periodically.
As far as Materials integration is concerned, this might not be required if you want only cost and no other integration requirements are there. I'm hinting at an alternative method of counting the spares cost using Measuring Points as Counters (Count Backwards tick) etc. For cost computations of your reports, you'll be taking the MvgAvgPrc from MARA table. Why I'm saying this is because, your Asset database does not seem to be big.
Rest as I hinted usual process of
    1. Notifications (for BDn recording or Preventive jobs Scheduling)
    2. Catalogs and Coding (for Defects, Causes Activitiy recording during BDns)
    3. Measuring points (Health records of your Assets)
    would be there.
(You can use even Catalogs & Codes for spare parts consumption records if the spares database is not much).

  • 'Log Book' in plant maintenance (SAP PM module)

    Dear Experts
I want to know about 'Log Book' in plant maintenance (SAP PM module). How to work on LOG BOOK & what are the configuration settings available in SAP PM for Log Book?
Basically, the concept of logbook is to update shift activities & measures during Plant Maintenance without SAP. but in SAP, What i know about the Log book in SAP PM is : It is an industry specific feature, before it was only used in (IS- Aeronautical). but now it is available in ECC 6.0 also. To activate this node, we need to update the patch 2.0 in ECC 6.0
    Thanx,
    PMGURU

    Dear,
The Logbook is an easy-to-use tool that supports the controlling and execution of daily maintenance tasks for assets in operation. This tool provides personnel, who are operating the assets, with the functions to log defects and operational data. It provides maintenance personnel, such as maintenance engineers and technicians, with functions that ensure the timely and reliable execution of their maintenance tasks.
Logbook is easy to use and provides functionality that is seamlessly integrated with follow-on processes of the mySAP for Aerospace & Defense solution for Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO). For example, operational data captured in the Logbook updates measurement points that, in turn, trigger preventive maintenance events. Maintenance work steps created in the Logbook generate material and resource requirements in materials and capacity planning. Material exchanges update the asset structure and automatically generate the required goods movements.
An important business example for using the Logbook is to control the daily line maintenance tasks for aircrafts.
The logbook helps you record defects encountered during aircraft flights and the actions taken to correct them. The log may also include the space to record additional flight data, such as the names of the crew members, flight parameters, payload data, fueling data, flight hours, and cycles operated.

  • What is IBAU in Plant Maintenance??

    Dear Friends,
Please do let me know what is IBAU in the context of Plant Maintenance in SAP.
    Regards,
    Alok.

    Dear Alok,
Assemblies are not plant-specific.  They are considered design/phantom/grouping type of materials.  They aren't physical materials but rather a grouping of physical materials.
The idea is that you create an IBAU for each of these "groupings" of parts then you create a material BOM (or rather a maintenance assembly BOM) in CS01 like you would normally do for a typical material BOM except that the parent or source material is your new IBAU.
Next you would create an equipment BOM where you would add your IBAU as a component of that equipment BOM.  Since <b>maintenance assemblies (aka IBAUs)</b> are not plant-specific you must add the IBAU to the equipment BOM as a PM Structure Element (BOM Item Category of "I").
If you want to go the route of using construction type then the idea here is that you would create a material BOM similar to the equipment BOM.  The difference is that instead of an equipment BOM pointing to material BOMs you would have a material BOM pointing to other material BOMs where the master material of this whole BOM strcuture is actually a material representation of the equipment.
For example, let's say you have 5 pumps with identical BOM structures.  You would create a material called PUMP then proceed to create the BOM structure for a typical pump.  After this you would create your 5 pumps as equipment and assign them a construction type of the PUMP material.  In this way your equipment will now inherit the PUMP BOM structure.
The benefit/drawback to using construction type is that your BOM structure remains the same for all equipments using that PUMP construction type.
    Regards,
    Naveen.

  • Plant Maintenance Workflow

    Dear Experts,
What is the purpose of workflow ? How do we effectively use a workflow in plant maintenance ? Is it the responsiblity of a PM consultant or a ABAP consultant or a BASIS person's job ?
Please refer some literature on this .
    Thanks and Regards,
    Vivid

Workflow is a process which is followed by triggering of the event.
Ex- If maintenace task is deleted or completed then if concern person is to be informed for further action then worflow feature is required.
Basically its a combination of  functional ,technical  and security team
If the standard is avaialble process is available then technical involvments are not required, but if you want to have a diffrent process or event  to be mapped then logic is to be wriiten for it.
Some imp transaction for workflow are
    Workflow Builder (SWDD)
    Development Environment
    Workflow Log (SWI1)
    Administrative Tool
    Business Workplace (SBWP)
    SAP Inbox
    Business Object Builder (SWO1)
    Event Trace (SWEL)
    Event Type Linkages (SWETYPV)

  • SAP Workflow Scenarios

    Dear all,
We are planning to implement SAP workflow, for the creation of material master and info record of the materials. We are using SAP 4.7 version. Thank you for your help

Yes there is and you might not need any help from a workflow professional if you are trying to keep it simple

  • How to read the configuration for SAP GUI elements in Plant Maintenance module from SPRO and leverage the same in NWBC for HTML.

    Dear Members,
    Greetings for the day!
I am working on NWBC for HTML in Plant Maintenance module.
We have configured some changes in SPRO for customizing the UI elements( like visibility, mandatory ) like tabs and fields in transactions like IW21( Create Notification).
As of now separate parallel configuration needs to be carried out in NWBC for HTML in PM module to achieve the same UI features for creating notifications and this is time consuming.
Is there any way to read the configuration done in SPRO for the SAP GUI's and leverage the same in NWBC for HTML.
Appreciate your time in responding to this.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ram.

This configuration is weird little bit. There is MatchExpression /app1 and MatchExpression /app2 and at the same time two <Location /weblogic> sections. Are you sure you understand what that configuration stands for?
    Try something like this ...
    <Location /app1>
    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    WebLogicCluster 127.0.0.1:7003,127.0.0.1:7005,127.0.0.1:7007,127.0.0.1:7103,127.0.0.1:7104

where /app1 and /app2 are contexts of your weblogic applications.

    Hello Kurni,
In PDM/PLM latest version is PLM 7.0.
There are many new functionalities available in this version.
Earlier version can be accessed from SAP GUI, but the latest one can be accessed from Portal/NWBC.
DMS side many notes have to be applied as you will be instaling EHP4.0 as part of the upgrade.
ECM side some standard reports are missing in PLM 7.0, which were available in ECC6.0.

  • Intergration of Production Planning with Plant Maintenance (SAP Modules)

Our SAP Implentation Consultants are creating work centres in Production Planning which are different to the workcentres in Plant Maintenance as follows.
    Work Centres in PP
    Mixing
    Blowing
    Filling
    Packaging
    Work Centres in PM
    Mechanical
    Electronics
    Electrical
My observation is that in PM the work centres should be identical to PP work centres. whereas Mechanical, Electronics and Electrical should be configured as divisions or departments. The idea is that by having PM WC identical to PP WC the costing will be simplified.
looking forward to expert's advices, please
