Workflow version changes

Hi Experts,
I have made changes in workflow, generated version and transported to production system. In production system, workflow
which are already initiated prior to changes are not working as per new transported version which is creating problem.
Is there any way that workflows that are already initiated will work as per new transported version?
Please suggest.
Regards,
Kaustubh Kabre.

Hi Kaustubh,
There is no way to do that.
Only the new process will work with the new version.
If you need to make the initiated workflows run with the transported version, you should stop and restart them.

  • Recent Workflow Version not active in Production server

    Hi Gurus,
Recently, I made a  minor change to an existing workflow. After the changes, it was transported to QA and Production. In QA, the changes are reflected and when I click on the version overview tab of the workflow, I can see that my last changed version is the active version. But, In production server the last version is  not active. The previous version before my changes remains as the active version. Though it shows my version their, it is not active and the change are not yet reflected.
To solve this I tried following ways,
    1)  I refreshed the buffer in SWU_OBUF in Production, but no improvements.
    2) Then I tried to check, if there could be any errors when I activate the workflow in Development server. But, there are no errors except few warnings like some of the variables declared for the workflow but not used. So, this also does not help.
    3) Then I tried changing the workflow to tag it again to a transport request thinking in a way, previously there might be a problem in attaching the active object. But, even after transporting the second changes, the workflow version is still not active in Production. But, it is active in QA.
Please let me know, if I can try any other ways which is not mentioned above!
    Thanks a million.

    Hello,
Check the transport logs for any errors and make sure all the transports have been done, and in the right order.
What was the minor change that you made?
You can get situations like this when you eg create a task, don't transport the task, and then add the task to a workflow and transport the workflow. In Development all will be fine, but not so in QA and/or Production.

  • Incorrect Workflow version after transport

    Hi,
A modification was made to the standard Booking Approval workflow (WS01200151). The changes were successful and a new runtime version was generated on the development system.
There seems to be a problem with the activation of Workflows transported to the QA system. After the transport no new version were activated on the QA system although the active version was included in the transport. (landscape: Development > QA > Production). I created a new version and also transported this, but the new version were not active. The status on QA was still  "Runtime version, Saved".
I checked the transport log and there were no errors and all objects were moved to the QA system. However, when I check the workflow versions on QA, there are multiple inactive versions now QA. There are only 7 on development but there are about 60 on the QA system. The 2 workflows are not in-sync.
The QA system is not open for changes and it is not ideal to open it either because then we will have to open the Production system as well. Does anyone know why the active version were not transported and how to fix this besides opening the QA system for changes?
I am quite new to workflow and your help will be much appreciated.
    Regards
    Liza-Marie

Thanks for the feedback, I learnt something new.
The version in table HRS1205 on Development is 0007 and on QA it is 0006 and I executed function module SWD_WFD_REPLICATE_FROM_9999 but nothing is updated. I debugged the FM and found that it exits (without any exception) as the transport version details (date & time) is the same as the 9999 version (code line 91).
SWD_WFD_REPLICATE_FROM_9999 reads table SWDSHEADER and in this table the last version is 0182! I don't know how all the versions from 0007 and 0182 was created but this seems to be causing problems.  I don't want to write a program to delete those redundant entries as I'm not sure what the impact would be. Do you know if there is a FM to delete the entries from table SWDSHEADER or any other table that would get rid of these versions?
To answer your question, I can view the WF in PFTC, there are no messages.
I will check OSS if I can find something.
Thanks for you help, it's much appreciated.

  • Restart Workflow Version Numbering

    Hi,
How can we restart the workflow version numbering? For example, if I have 5 versions of the workflow and the version 5 is the correct one. So, I delete all other versions of the workflow and transport the version 5. Now, I want this version (version 0005) to be numbered as version 0000 or version 0001. What is the option for this?
    Warm Regards,
    Jubish Jacob

    Hi,
It is that the requirement has changed entirely and the client specified that they want only one version in the system. So, thought of deleting the unnecessary versions.
Now, as version 5 is the required version, I deleted all other versions up to version 4. I wanted to make this lone version as version 1 as otherwise it seems awkward. So, is there any option for this?
    Warm Regards,

  • How to handle version changes? Strategies?

We're struggling with version change issues. Most recently we tried to move from 8.5 to 8.6 and lost about a week of project time while we tried to make it run well. The problem was that the Development Environment would crash several times a day while doing block diagram edits, losing unsaved changes. We never found any clues as to why. It would be one thing to debug a VI that crashes, but when it is the LV editor itself that is crashing, how do we work on that?
Anyway, we have a policy here of freezing software updates for projects that are close to completion, because buggy updates so often delay project completions, and this triggered a return to 8.5, which is where we remain now on that project.
But now we can't install and use the VI Analyzer we just bought on any of the PCs tied to that project, as it demands 8.6. I do have one PC that is completely disconnected from this project, and it runs 8.6, so running the Analyzer there may be useful, but still messy.
How do you handle version changes? How often do you try to follow the updates? How often do you need to go back a version? Do you maintain different versions? Is it even possible to run multiple versions on an individual Win XP PC?
    Thanks!

I have installed several versions of LabVIEW on my system.
Most of the toolkits are only installed in the latest versions. There are ways to install toolkits on multiple versions.
And I think that toolkits as of LabVIEW version 8.6 can be installed on several LabVIEW verions.

  • How to get the version changes programatically in ItemCheckedin event

    Hi,
I am creating a custom version history page.
I have a requirement were I have to capture the changes after file check-in and display it in the custom page.
Is there anyway to get the version changes programatically after the file has been checked-in?
Is is possible to get the current version and previous version in ItemCheckedin event
    and get the version changes?
    Thanks in advance,
    dhijit

    Hi,
As Dimitri said, we can use ItemCheckingIn event to achieve it.
The following code snippet for your reference:
    public override void ItemCheckingIn(SPItemEventProperties properties)
    base.ItemCheckingIn(properties);
    int beforeLevel = (int)properties.BeforeProperties["vti_level"];
    int afterLevel= (int)properties.AfterProperties ["vti_level"];
    if((beforeLevel==255) && (afterLevel==1))
// This is a major version that is being checked in . . .
    int majorVer= properties.ListItem.File.MajorVersion+1;

  • Workflow versioning... How does it work ?

    Hello Workflow Gurus !
I'm new to this great world of Workflows and I am wondering how versionning works.  I have 2 question in that regard:
Q1) I look at table SWDSHEADER and found multiple entries with same WFD_ID number but different versions (VERSION) values.  As an example, WFD_ID has version and version abd both seem to be active (field ACTIV contains 'X' in both cases).  What is the difference between version and .
Q2) Why some workflow have a version number ... some being active (field ACTIV = 'X') and some being inactive ?
Thanks in advance for any explanations.
    José

    Hi ,
1 . In general once we create a new workflow the workflow flow number has been generated with version no : 0000
    2. If we want to do some modification to the workflow with out distrubing the cureent work flow we will create a new version
    as 0001 .
Once it is working fine then we will use the new version by activation the version 0001 . In this case the old version has been inactivated .
Only one version is activated once . two version canot run at same time  for the same workflow(Before transporting the new version if there are any workflow are running then that workflow wil lcontinue the old version remaining all wil lfollow the new version).
as your question some workflows are having version no 9999 .
i think they may created 9999 versions as of now .
    I.e  0000 , 0001 , 0002 . 0003 , 0004 , 0005 , -
    9999.
They may deleted the old workflow version if it is not need .
mostly will keep maximum of 10 version , remaining all we can delete.
so u may seee only 9999 version , remaining all are deleted.

  • Trigger workflow after change of control record(pa03)

    Hi Experts,
Is it possible to trigger a workflow after change of the control record - transaction pa03?

    Hi,
    Thanks for replay but:
    1. just so the event or action in PA03 , on which you want to trriger WF ,Before that with TCOde swels switch ON , then afer the action in SWEL , you wil find if any BO and event is there for that action . if so , then using this you can trriger you WF. if not
I've already tried this and no event is triggered ;(.
    then
    2. you can go for user exit , badi or enhancement spots (verson ECC.6.0 above). in that using SWE_EVENT_CREATE creat the event to start yr WF.
I've been already searching for BADI or user exit but I really can not find any user exit nor badi for this transaction (in fact it is SAPMP52X Program) ;-((
    Thanks,

  • Oracle i Supplier Portal Workflows - Supplier Change Order Workflow

    Hi Friends,
Oracle iSupplier Portal uses the following workflows:
    ■ Supplier Change Order Workflow
    ■ Update Capacity Workflow
    ■ Order Modifiers Workflow
    ■ Advance Shipment Notice (ASN) Workflow
    ■ Purchase Order Acknowledgement (handled by PO Approval Workflow)
My problem is related to - 'Supplier Change Order workflow'
I would like know is there are any changes in the work Flow - 'Supplier change order Work flow' in 11.5.10 to 11.5.8
    If yes,kindly list the changes.
    Thanks in advance!
    Thanks & Regards
    Dilip Nomula

The best way to determine this would be to download the workflow into a wft file from 11.5.8 and 11.5.10 instances and run a simple Unix diff command on these two wft files. I do not believe you will find any documentation that will list differences at this level of detail.

  • Workflow: State change on given date

    Hi,
another problem: the state of a workflow shall change, when the start
time of an entry has reached. As there is no "on start time" but "after
start time", I tried "0 minutes" or "0 days" - but the change won't
happen. If I choose a start time in the past, the state is changed fine.

OK; forget about this. Those who are able to read are always in
