WorkflowLab for educators: More feature requests

I am really excited by the potential of WorkflowLab - this application could be absolutely amazing. I am an educator, and would love to use WorkflowLab as a means of writing - and distributing - mini Photoshop tutorials. However, in order for this to be worthwhile for me, there are a few improvements that need to be implemented:
When linking an application to a step, clicking on the application's icon ought to launch it, if the app is present on the users machine. Although there is a down-pointing arrow in the Applications & Technologies section, which links to the application's product page online, I don't expect that many people will appreciate the current functionality there.
The ability to add screenshots is essential.
When an annotation refers to a particular tool within an application, a visual representation of that tool should be able to be dropped into the text. I am thinking here of Adobe Configurator, and the ability in Configurator to drag tool icons around.
Like Adobe Configurator, when mentioning a tool, or menu command in an annotation, WorkflowLab should create a hyperlink that will invoke that tool or command within the chosen application (provided that the application is installed).
Each workflow task should be able to optionally open a flash panel (created in Adobe Configurator) within a Creative Suite application. So for example, if task 5 in my workflow involves sharpening a photograph in Photoshop, and I have created a custom sharpening Configurator panel, those people using my workflow should be able to jump to Photoshop, which would then display the custom sharpening panel for the user.
If a user of my workflow finds any of my annotations ambiguous, they should be able to email me a question from within WorkflowLab.
Finally (for now), if I store my workflows using Adobe Share, then if WorkflowLab is deployed over a network, the File > Open Workflow Shared Online... command should allow users to browse through all of the workflows that I have uploaded to my Adobe Share account. This feature would provide access to any of the workflows that I create to my students, without them having to know the exact location of a specific workflow that I have built. For those people using WorkflowLab outside of a private network, who may want to browse the workflows that I have created, it would be great if WorkflowLab allowed users to subscribe to the workflows published by particular individuals.

I know that Lync will soon be rebranded as 'Skype for Business' so it would be nice if this was a feature.
A useful feature would be if you could set what your bitrate was for your Lync Video call. For example, I have multiple sites with synchronous 50Mbit connections, I don't need Lync to auto change the quality. I need it to remain HD. I have the bandwidth
for it. I know other VC systems have the ability to set bitrates, so I think it would be a useful feature for Lync to incorporate. What do you guys think? Also, if we had CBR or less VBR 2-5Mbit. It would be a much better system for newscasting and the likes.

Export DDL for current schema (feature request "Creation of Object script")

to generate a DDL script for my current schema, I tried your suggestion on SQL Developer Exchange to click on "other users" and then select my user. Wait a minute... where is my current user in this menu? Am I missing something? ;-)
As this technique seems to make sense only with DBA users exporting other schemas, I'll log a new request for the often-desired one-button-current-schema-DDL-generator...

Nope - you're not missing something. I've logged it. Sorry. I know suggesting connecting as SYSTEM and then selecting other users is not what you are after, but if you have access to SYSTEM, that's be a solution. Alternatively, you just have to expand each node type and select the top level category.

the reason is probably obvious but not to me,
I cannot post a reply to anyones comments or thread in the photoshop feature requests, it usually reads "reply" to be able to comment on anothers comment,
but only reads "report abuse" in the photoshop features request thread.

Custom Toolbar Buttons - built from my SQL - feature request

I would like to request a feature to be added to SQL Developer. I'm on EA, v 4.0.0.12. I would like to be able to create edit and add custom toolbar buttons.
I do have some of my SQL saved as Snippets. As long as I want to keep the Snippets pane open, I can create and edit snipped categories, add snippets to custom categories, and drag'n'drop a snippet from the snippet pane onto a SQL Worksheet (fills in with the SQL). This all works, although giving up "canvas workspace" for the snippets pane is a bit of an expense.
It would be cool to be able to create, edit and place and remove custom buttons on the Toolbar with SQL I like to (re)use often.

I found the Exchange and filed a request there.

Feature request: View layer comps in both Comments and Extract

Good day,
I'd like to see the layer comps dropdown duplicated and applied to the Comments panel of Extract, in hopes that when viewing layer comps over the web, there's better, faster performance when reviewing comps. Extract is wonderful, but not everyone on my team needs the tools it offers (just developers, really). Everyone on my team does need to view the layer comps, making the comments section an appropriate home for it.
Note: I'm not suggesting moving layer comps from Extract to Comments. Please make layer comps available to both.

I visit there for other product feature requests quite often. It unfortunately does not offer Creative Cloud as an option from it's dropdown.

A feature request for more accepted navigation keystrokes.

On Mac, the standard buttons for forward and backward navigation seem to be Command+{ and Command+]. Safari accepts this as well as Command+arrows.
Finder accepts only the first; bridge accepts only the second.
This is only a small feature request. To make navigation simpler, I would like to see Bridge accept other navigation keystrokes, like Safari. It would be so much better for people using global commands like mouse back and forward buttons.
I hope Adobe likes to read this stuff once in a while! Thank you and you and you for reading.

Feature request: Support for more than 2 monitors

I currently use an external monitor for my critical editing/evaluation as my iMac display doesn't reproduce reds very well. I understand newer iMacs can support 2 external displays, obviously desktop machines can support as many displays as there are open slots for video cards.
While editing a photo shot in portrait on a monitor set for landscape is not a problem, it would <really> be cool to have two external color-accurate monitors for developing/loupe views, one oriented in portrait, one in landscape, with the third (iMac in this case) showing the develop controls. Even if the two external monitors showed the same image, one would always be fullscreen in the correct orientation.
MacOS and Windows both give the user control over all the displays connected to a given system, so driving a portrait and a landscape monitor simultaneously shouldn't be a problem from an OS/hardware standpoint.
Is this something that can be rolled into LR4?

I use 3 or 4 monitors too, so that's one I'd like to see too. We wouldn't want the request to get lost in beta land, so might I suggest adding the request to the Feature Request forum http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family where it can easily be tracked? Let's use this thread to list BlackBerry10 OS feature requests. There's nothing official to this thread, but one never knows who might view it and get an idea or two to move foward.

Make it easier to order world clocks, instead of the order they are added.

In Playbook we can have a single character password, why not on BB10? "too short" well it is my decision, isn't it?
There is no way to go next/previous while reading an e-mail. Please add these functions.
Add to the e-mail client, Next Unread / Previous Unread.
E-mail or Hub should have more buttons at the bottom in landscape mode. Why keep only three (or four in e-mail view) buttons when you have the real estate. It would be extremely handy if you allowed users to edit which buttons should go at the bottom. Next Previous is really needed while reading an e-mail. For example I would love to add "File" button at the bottom as a shortcut instead of forward, I rarely forward, but I file all the time. Maybe allow users to have two row of keys, add next/previous/unread. Or it could be done with a gesture. How about swiping the account name (top blue bar while reading e-mail) left and right?
When you create a new contact in BlackBerry, it gets synced to all accounts on the Hub. There is no way to limit the new contact to a specific account.
Sometimes when you file an e-mail to a folder, it stops and waits few seconds with no message. Even when it files immediately, there is a confirmation message that takes time to appear and disappear, and the folder list does not disappear automatically.
Messages filed automatically by server using server side filter rules are still showing up on Blackberry hub/inbox. In older BB versions the filtered messages did not show up in the list, filed messages still did.
When you filter your e-mails using Filter / Unread function, new unread e-mails do not show up until you close the filter and re-open. It won't just keep refreshing your screen with unread e-mails. Can BB add a button to the hub "Unread Hub" so when hub shows 8 or 2, you can actually see unread items easily without having to through so many taps.
Native BB QR scanner (Smart Tags) does not work with barcodes (it only scans with no way to use the information). There is Open In function but it doesn't work properly.
We need to add more customs search providers, and be able to add custom search strings/wildcards. For example currently there is Google, Bing, Yahoo, Foursquare, etc..
I hope BB introduces the ability include more standard & custom searches, IMDB, PriceGrabber, Ebay, Youtube, XYZ Forums, ABC Newspaper, 123 Database, Etc.. Most sites nowadays provide search string in their URL Search=?* etc...
None of the Battery apps can access system settings to add a battery icon to the top. I wish battery percentage was there.
There is no way to check carrier/mobile signal strength.
Blackberry, please add the date and carrier / SSID info to the top. Sometimes we just want to glance at the top to see the date without having to swipe.
Please bring back keyboard shortcuts. Since we can easily swipe up to bring the keyboard, just add keyboard shortcuts in e-mail, phone (true speed dialing, dialing by word?), and browser, etc.. if possible. I could always call 1800SOMETHING# now I have to look up the number or use dial pad.. Please bring it back.
Camera zoom function needs to be fixed, also please include option of fixed focus by tapping on the screen to focus. The auto focus in video is focusing in and out to various objects all the time. Stabilization feature also causes tearing/ripples, I guess it is good if you are stationary. Or use Volume Keys to Zoom.
Please allow more than 12 icons in an icon group/folder, I hated Apple for limiting apps per folder, please fix it.
Auto ON/OFF feature is not there anymore. BB should consider Auto DND (DoNotDisturb) or Auto Silent/Airplane modes instead.
Please find a way to stop the music app from automatically starting up every time it connects to bluetooth like car audio. This is very annoying.
No Panaroma mode in Camera app, why not? It is very easy to incorporate. This could be a nice addition to next release, and easy.
The text selection grips needs to be a little bigger, sometimes I cannot see where I am moving them, they work better in Playbook, nice big tabs.
Call Functions, before answering a phone add sideways gesture functions, like swiping right will forward the call, swiping left will answer with a test message, etc..
Or there should be a way to reject the call without sending it to voice mail, phones had this function a decade ago, I don't know what happened to it.
We used to be able to see the "History" without having to save the contact. Now I don't see any way to "View History" of a certain phone number, it just keeps adding
them as individual entries to the log. Now I can't see when was the last time they called me, how many times we spoke which day, etc... I loved this feature in BB5.
Where is BB Traffic? Where is BB Weather, without having to run an active frame? It will eventually disappear if you run too many apps. I liked a little Icon that shows me what the temp is, instead of running a whole app.
There is no Skype. This day and age with all other platforms having it, please either get skype (Microsoft) to cooperate, or open up BBM to other platforms. If necessary, pay Skype to develop the app, then charge BB users for the app. Most will gladly pay.
Can we tap and hold on an active frame to pin it, or can we pin two favorite apps between Call and Search & Search and Camera buttons in the bottom bar? How about Close All running Active Frames app to quickly free up ram?
I hope next generation devices have two speakers or speaker that is facing forward. When playing games or watching videos in landscape mode, I find my palm muting the speaker. I have to hold it gently with fingers to have a gap in between, something I don't want to do when I am on the subway or bus.
Blackberry Maps should have a Zoom In/Zoom Out buttons, sometimes using it with one hand, it is impossible to zoom in and out. (Zoom in is OK but we can't zoom back out)

Feature Request: Raw-Lite for the F5/F55

Hi Sony Staff, Here's a feature request that I've been pondering for a long time now. Raw Lite on the F5(5). Is it a possibility? I'm a huge fan of the conventional 3:1 compressed 4K 16-bit Linear Raw from the AXS-R5. It provides a supremely high quality digital negative, with as much detail and tonality as you could ever really need. However the file sizes are very large. 1TB yeilds roughly an hour of recording time. And the storage costs associated with that are enough to scare away MANY producers from shooting Sony Raw (even with all of the benefits that doing so offers). You guys have addressed this issue nicely with the F65 by offering Raw Lite with it's 6:1 compression (which coincidentally, is a compression rate that many, many producers are content to shoot with on the most prolific raw cameras out their - the Red Epic/Dragon/Scarlet cameras). Being able to offer producers the option to shoot Sony Raw Lite, with it's massively more managable file sizes would greatly increase the uptake of Sony Raw for production - and that benefits everyone. It benefits the camera department with a superior digital negative, it benefits post-production with greater latitude for grading and VFX, it benefits producers with a superior end product, and it benefits audiences with better looking images. Given that the F65 was able to be upgraded to offer this additional raw recording option, I assume (and hope) that it's not an impossiblity for the F5(5). So I'd urge you to strongly consider this feature request, and the added appeal it would bring to the cameras as a capture choice. Cheers, Mark

I disagree that there is little difference between 12bit and 16 bit linear raw. The difference is huge. Shadows and dark areas from the FS7/FS700 are pretty grim, lot's of noise caused by the data rounding. Besides, in terms of bit rate it's not a question of simply reducing the bit depth, you need to increase the compression. For linear raw you need 16 bits unless you do an extreme amount of data rounding. For Linear raw, if the first stop is represented by just 2 bits of data (which results in very blocky noise as noise will be one of 4 luma levels and cannot be smoothly reproduced): stop 1: 2 bitsstop 2: 4stop 3: 8stop 4: 16stop 5: 32stop 6: 64stop 7 128 (8 bit linear limit, 128 + 128 = 256 bits)stop 8: 256stop 9: 512 (10 bit linear limit)stop 10: 1024stop 11: 2048 (12 bit linear limit)stop 12: 4096stop 13: 8192 stop 14: 16384 bitsstop 15: 32768 bits (16 bit linear limit) If you move this scale up so that the first stop is represented by using 4 bits of data you will still have pretty coarse shadows and noise (one whole f stop will only have 16 posible luma values). So rather than just use binary math most linear raw systems use floating point math to make more bits available for the shadows. But with 12bit there just isn't anywhere near the same amount of "spare" bits that you get with 16 bit, so the shadows and low key areas really suffer. Just go and look at the FS7/FS700 boards and all the compliants about unusable, grainy and blocky shadow areas in the raw. Sure raw lite would be a welcome option, but it wouldn't be one for me. The whole point of raw for me is a robust, bomb proof format that you can expose and grade as you wish without worrying about artefacts etc.

Feature Request - My idea for a Today Screen...your thoughts??

Submitted this to Palm as a feature request. Curious what others think about the idea. I know there are apps such as Active Home Screen (AHS) being tested and developed, but my approach would be contained within WebOS, thus not dependent upon running another App.

I think it would be great to have a page very similar to a launcher page that shows a summary of certain data for the day...such as Weather, Tasks, a Calendar agenda for the day, etc.
My ideal feature would be to make this function the same way a launcher page does...swipe up to display and again to dismiss.
I would prefer to split the gesture area in half, so that one half displays the current launcher pages, and the other half displays the today screen. For example swiping up on the left side of the gesture area launches the Today screen, and swiping up on the right side displays the standard launcher pages.
It would be an active page that updates based on current weather, next appointment, etc. Also, being able to tap one of the displayed summaries would launch that app.
One of the great features of WebOS is multi-tasking, however in some ways you are forced to over multi-task. Sometimes all you need to see is an overview of the day or whats coming up next without having to run 3 or 4 apps to get an idea of what the day looks like. Thus allowing you to save more of that precious multi-tasking benefit for apps that are constantly in use.

My top 10 list:
1) Require enough extra safe guards that users can't accidentally rename their Home folder.
2) Don't let the Finder become unresponsive and beach-balled when dot-mac mounting is occurring.
3) Faster Finder list view updating when sorted by last modified.
4) OS update scripts should perform a hard disk verify before installation. If hard disk does not verify, the user should be told of the risk of proceeding and given directions on how to fix before proceeding.
5) The filesystem should should be able to fix itself with fsck (ala AppleJack) without being booted from install CD/DVD.
6) iPhoto Library folder should have an extra layer of protection to keep users from messing with it via the Finder.
7) Forced shutdown via power key should give OS and filesystem more of a chance for recovery. (Not sure how this would work, but if users are doing this, it should not be so often fatal.)
8) System maintenance scripts should have a method for running (other than cron) for those who don't leave their computer on 24/7.

David Pogue explains why this can't be done in his Mac OS X: The Missing Manual He basically says that running fsck without an operating system disc is much akin to "a doctor performing an appendectomy on himself." While a method of doing this is provided, naturally fsck itself is not analyzed because it can't do that. To run fsck without an operating system disc, boot into single user mode, holding command-S at startup. Type /sbin/fsck -fy
followed by return key,
when done type:
/sbin/mount -uw /
followed by return key and when done with that type

Thankfully single user mode provides more safeguards. But they aren't perfect. Fixing the directory is something that should only be done if your data is backed up, and it is obvious you may have a damaged directory. A damaged directory may have the symptoms of a dying hard drive, and it is impossible to tell the difference.
Apple is readying a really good backup system in Time Machine in Leopard. You can read more about it here:

New free Runtime license for Oracle xe, and more features

This comment is related to the other post, but is different.
Why oracle don't have a free runtime license like Ms Access.
Maybe having more restrictions, allowing several instance at a time.
Having more features to make easier to install for small programs.
Thinking to write an small application I ask my self why an Oracle dba, can't use Oracle as the end database, and I have to use Ms Access.
Maybe the size of the database could be reduced, and not include apex, I think could even block database procedures, but to enable an option, please.
I ask to Oracle, to please think a solution to replace msaccess runtime, etc., making easier the install, desintall, etc. for very very very small databases.

though I'm not an Oracle representative, I have an opinion on your request I want to share with you.
Oracle Database has some features which by design won't allow easy embedding. Disabling those features isn't really easy and you wouldn't look at just some features less but at a software that behaves differently in wide areas. What would be the advantage to use it?
I don't think you have to use MS Access, though. There are small embeddable databases available, even from Oracle (Oracle Berkeley DB to name one). So why should Oracle re-invent the wheel by downgrading a full-featured database that long that it is embeddable when other projects started to support this by design already?

A feature request for iOS app developers...

Guys and Gals,
I have a feature request which I think will benefit iOS app developers as much as it would benefit your customers.
Any customer that has more than a handful of apps will eventually forget what some of those apps do or what makes them unique. For instance, I had not used the wonderful hotel finder, Oyster, in over a year. I not only forgot I had it, I also forgot how Oyster's service was different than other hotel finders. I had to refamiliarize myself with the app. Sometimes, this requires returning to the App Store to read the product description again.
It would be helpful if every app had an About button that would present the product description, summarizing the app's purpose and what differentiates it from similar apps without going into the details of how to use it.

Apple discourages the use of About or Help buttons.
Send feedback to Apple because this is the wrong place to ask; we are all just users like you.

Feathering and invert on Garbage Mattes
A Track Matte function that allows us to pan and scale the clip being matted without affecting the matte size or position. You could do this with a Stencil / Silhouette Alpha / Luma Blend mode as in Ae.
MISC:
When using Clip > Scale to Sequence, DO NOT have the new Scale factor in the Motion tab change the clip's scale to 100%.
Consistent Mouse Wheel behavior across all apps in CS
Scopes update while playing.
Make Export and Title windows return to the previously adjusted size and placement.
Add a command buffer, so that we can execute several commands in a row, and not wait for the app to "release", or for the first event to complete before I can proceed to the next event.

Some feature you posted are great. How about a eyedropper tool for the Color Matte?
I find the Magnet for Snap quite visible. There is also this feature in the Pref to make the playhead snap.
