Workgroup Mngr error in 10.5

Since upgrading to 10.5 on our Xserve everything has been functioning fine with the exception of one or more of the following errors which appears if we leave Workgroup Manager idle for more than 5 or 10 minutes:
"Error of type eDSCannotAccessSession
(-14006) on line 3708 of /SourceCache/WorkgroupManager/
WorkgroupManager-319/PMMUGSearchController.mm"
"Error of type eDSCannotAccessSession
(-14006) on line 1194 of /SourceCache/WorkgroupManager/
WorkgroupManager-319/PMMUGAccountsContentsView.mm"
The error forces me to quit Workgroup Manger and relaunch... it then continues to function as normal for several minutes.
This is a standalone server (no AD integration), and all other respects workgroup management seems to be functioning fine.
Does anyone have a clue as to what may be the issue here?
Tnx.

  • Office 2013 C2R - Access denied to installation source from workgroup PC (Error Code 5-4 and 17002)

I have set up Office 2013 Home and Business on a network share using the Office Deployment Tool.
Domain members can install Office 2013 with no problems using the command line
    \\Server\share\Office2013\setup.exe /configure
    \\Server\share\Office2013\configuration-home-and-biz.xml
However, if the PC is not a member of the domain I get an Access Denied message, even though "everyone" has full control of the share and NTFS files and subfolders
The full message is as follows,
    Access denied to installation source
Sorry, we ran into a problem accessing a required file. Please check that the installation source has correct permissions, the try again.

    Error Code: 5-4
As soon as I join the PC to the domain the installation works but I would like to pre-install Office as part of an MDT Task Sequence before the PC joins the domain.
Does anyone know how I can make this work?

C2R editions of Office, during the installation routine, will initially commence execution in the security context of the logged in user, but partway through the installation routine the installation transitions into the security context of the local computer
account. This means that unless the computer account also has network access permissions to the installation source folder/share, the installation routine will fail.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219423(v=office.15).aspx#PrepareDeploy
    Important:
The computer account for the computer on which you install Click-to-Run for Office 365 products must have read permission to the network share that contains the Office Deployment Tool, the customized Configuration.xml file, and the Click-to-Run for Office
365 product and language files. If you cannot give read permission to the computer account, you can copy the files down to the computer from the network share, and then run Setup from the computer. After the installation is complete, you can delete those files
    from the computer.
To workaround this, your installation script routine can copy the installation source files from the server folder/share to a local folder on the computer, then launch the setup routine from that local source.
In your example scenario, the workgroup computer (because it is not a member of "DOMAIN\Authenticated Users" does not have access permissions to the server folder/share.

  • SBO Client and Windows Vista in workgroup Licence error

    Hi!
My customer runs B1 2004C. Network structure is workgroup. Client and server are in the same workgroup. XP users connect successfully, but new Vista user gets the licence error: "-2147024891 Access denied". DCOM and other customizations on the licence server are done like in SAP Notes. It doesn't help.
I know Vista is not officially supported by 2004C B1, but i have several Vista users running SBO fine in domain structure. I think the trouble is in the workgroup.
    Thanks a lot!
    David.

    Hi David,
some of the SAP Notes addressing DCOM access denied problem of 2004 releases.
    <b>Note 833798 - After Upgrade W2003 to SP1: Access denied -2147024891</b>
    Symptom
After upgrading Windows 2003 server to SP1 you get the access denied error -2147024891
    Other terms
    license server, error -2147024891
    Reason and Prerequisites
Upgrade to Windows 2003 server changes security settings
    Solution
The problem is caused by SP1 for W2003 Server. You have to change the
default configuration of the DCOM to enable clients to access license
    server again:
    1. go to "Start/run", type in "Dcomcnfg" and the Dcom configuration will open
    2. expand "Component Services"
    3. right click on "my computer", open "Properties"
    4. go to tab "Com Security"
    5. in "launch and activation permission" go to "edit limits" this
    button is new since SP1
    6. tick the boxes "remote launch" and "remote activation" for user
    "everyone"
After that the clients can access the license server again, if all nescessary rights are give in the DCOM as well. When the changes described above did not take effect, please check this additionally:
    1. go to "Start/run", type in "Dcomcnfg" and the Dcom configuration will open
    2. expand "Component Services"
    3. Go to "SBOLicense", open "Properties" by right-clicking the mouse
    4. On register tab "Security" customize all permissions. Add all nescessary User accounts there. If you add i.e. User Group "Everyone" there, you will not have access right problems any longer, as every user belongs by default to this group.
If that change does not take effect immediately, reboot the server.
This note is permanently updated. If you have any comments or proposals tho improve it, please contact the SAP Business One Hotline and let us know.
    <b>Note 824976 - error -2147024891, access denied to license server</b>
    Symptom
error -2147024891 when trying to connect with B1 client to license server on another computer The License mechanism needs a properly set up license server which is available over the network via DCOM interface to client computers. The necessary windows user rights must be assigned to client and server.
    Other terms
Access denied, SAP Business One, License server
    Reason and Prerequisites
    Functionality description
    Solution
    1. Is the license server up and running?
The B1 client on the license server computer should be started and logged into to ensure that there are no problems withs the license server itself. The B1 Server tools should be opened and the settings of the License Manager should be checked so that it is possible to connect by pressing the Connect button.
    2. Is the network connection between client and license server working?
The server should be pinged via its IP-address for a response. Any firewalls should be disabled between client and license server for troubleshooting reasons as they can effectively block data packets which are needed for license mechanism. If a VPN is used between client and license server all ports should be available.
    3. Are necessary windows user rights in the domain given?
We highly recommend to use B1 in a windows domain, as this is the only way to manage user accounts effectively. Domain user accounts have to be configured on the domain controller computer only. For troubleshooting reasons log in at the client with the windows domain administrator account, that should prevent the user from being blocked due to a lack windows user rights. According to our recommendations the users should be Power Users on the local computer.
    4. Are necessary windows user rights in a workgroup given?
If the user is in a windows workgroup, the same user account should be configured with the same password on the license server and on each client computer as well. For troubleshooting reasons a local admin account should be configured on each of these computers. As account information is stored locally on each computer, username and password must be exactly the same on each of the machines. Login with this local administrator account. According to our recommendations the users should be Power Users on the local computer.
    5. Is DCOM installed and configured correctly?
On the license server DCOM interface should to be installed and configured correctly. It is located under Control panel\administrative tools\ component service. Expand and in My Computer you will find DCOM Config\SBO License. Open its Properties and check configurations in Security tab. Add user accounts there, if needed.
DCOM should be enabled on the Client machines and on the server(s). In the Component Services expand to My Computer and right click to open the Properties for My Computer. Go to the Default Properties tab and make sure that 'Enable Distributed COM on this computer' is ticked. If these settings are modifed a restart of the computer is needed for the changes to take effect.
    Br,
    Chris

  • DPM 2012 R2 backup of Workgroup computer error

Hi, we have a Workgroup server that we had successfully backed up to a DPM 2012 Server.
Since then we have built 2 brand new DPM 2012 R2 servers.
I have uninstalled the DPM 2012 agent from the Workgroup computer and have installed the new DPM 2012 R2 agent successfully.
However, when i try to Attach the agent I am getting 'Unable to contact the protection agent on server' errors.
I have run the Set-DPMServer -IsNonDomainServer command correctly so the Firewall rules are there ( I have also turned the FW off to test but same error results). I am using the same account details created via Set-DPMserver to attach the agent on the DPM
    server.
The Event Logs on the DPM 2012 R2 server show DCOM errors (Event 10028, DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer using any of the configured protocols; requested by PID      5e4 (C:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center 2012
    R2\DPM\DPM\bin\msdpm.exe).)
I have even uninstalled the 2012 R2 agent and re-installed the 2012 agent and that attaches fine, no problem.
    Can anyone help/advise?
    David

    Hi,
That is correct, ISCSI / Vfc attached or Pass-through disks are not included in host level backups. You have install a DPM agent inside the guest and protecting the volumes seperatly.

Hi there. Is your laptop on Windows & 32 bit or 64 bit? It should work with 32-bit as I read on the kb site:
The compatible Operating Systems are Windows 2000, XP, or Vista (32-Bit), Windows 7 (32-Bit).
    http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=49273cdd85ee4c928d9cf5c12d4c6cc3_16914.xml&pid=80&...
Try to download the setup wizard online on your windows 7 laptop:

One other thing, make sure you installed also your printer driver compatible for Windows7 laptop and make sure that you can print on your laptop when printer is connected to it.

  • Server 10.5.7 upgrade deleted all user and group Info -- Receiving error -1

After upgrading our Dual 2.0 G5 server that was running 10.5.6 to 10.5.7 all groups and user information lost access. In addition when starting the workgroup manager error -14008 appears. Also when we look into the console log the following shows up
------------com.apple.launchd[1] (edu.mit.kadmind) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
    over and over
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I looked into A&I more, maybe it's not as nuclear as I thought. I presumed it meant I needed to reinstall all non-apple Apps, which means digging up disks and codes, none of which I have here. I'm away from home for another 4 weeks, which means doing that is difficult.
Being away is also why my back-up is a little out of date, I didn't bring the time machine drive for that MBP with me. I had it shipped to me as soon as I had problems, but the back-up I'd have to roll back to is now 1-2 weeks old and might still have the funky user:group problems since my timezone problems began before the 10.5.7 update.
I think DiskWarrior may of finally repaired the user:group issues. Not 100% sure but it's looking better. I just noticed that the primary user is admin but User is 502 and Group is 502. Whereas my secondary user account (also Admin) on that MBP User is 501 and Group is 20. My recollection is 20 is staff and both users groups should be 20.
I'll look into A&I more, probably do it when I get home.
    Thanks.

  • Mac server X 10.4.11 AFP connectivity problem

    Hi,
We have been using the Mac servee X with OS 10.4.11 for 4 years along with X RAID. It works well all these days till I do the last update( I think so). However after the update none of the clients could access the server through AFP but SMB is working. I have restarted the AFP service, no luck. Also I couldn't run some of the server management tools like Workgroup Manager( Error: You can't use this application workgroup manager.app with this ver of Mac OS X. But I can access the same through a Mac client.
I desperately looking for a solution. Thanks in advance
    Rgds
    Babu.S

SMB Service is separate from the AFP Service and is started and controlled by "Windows" service in WGM. They are two separate things and are managed separately. If smb is running you should be able to connect to the server from the Mac clients using "Go to Server" smb://myserver.com/ just like you do afp.
I don't understand exactly what you're saying about the Server tools but be aware that you should generally be using a client of the same OS level (eg 10.4, 10.5, 10.6) as the Server you are controlling and the Server tools should be the ones developed for that OS.

  • Error -14135 Creating New User In Workgroup Manager

    Hello,
I'm running 10.5.8 on a Mac Server, and until today have had no issues adding new users with a preset I've created in Workgroup Manager. Today, I've received the message:
    Got unexpected error
Error of type eDSRecordAlreadyExists (-14135) on line 1268 of SourceCache/WorkgroupManager/WorkgroupManager-361.2.1/PMMUGMainView.mm
This error appears before I'm even able to enter any information.
I would appreciate any suggestions! Right now I'm running Disk Utility and repairing permissions. I haven't found any other ideas online.
    Thank you!

Following is the text from Note for Custom Password Validation logic:
Customers who wish to use their own password validation logic may do
so by writing their own Java classes that implement the
      oracle.apps.fnd.security.PasswordValidation Java interface.  The
interface requires 3 methods to be implemented:
      1) public boolean validate(String user, String password)
        - This method takes a username and password, and then returns true
or false, indicating whether the user's password is valid or invalid,
      respectively.
      2) public String getErrorStackMessageName()
        - This method returns the name of the message to display when the
user's password is deemed invalid (i.e., the validate() method returns
      false).
      3) public String getErrorStackApplicationName()
        - This method returns the application shortname for the
      aforementioned error message.
After writing the Java class to perform customized password
validation, the customer must then set the value of the profile option
SIGNON_PASSWORD_CUSTOM to be the full name of the class.  If, for
example, the name of the Java class is
oracle.apps.fnd.security.AppsPasswordValidation, then the value of the
      SIGNON_PASSWORD_CUSTOM profile option must be
      oracle.apps.fnd.security.AppsPasswordValidation.  Note that AOL/J
will attempt to load this class dynamically.  Hence it is necessary to
make the class accessible by AOL/J.  This means that in Forms, the
class must first be loaded into the database using the loadjava
      command.

  • Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 on workgroup workstations

I am having issues with a vendor supplied application. It generates an error when run from workstations that are not part of an Active Directory domain. The error is “provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 –
Could not open a connection to SQL Server)”. It runs as expected when ran from a workstation that is a member of the domain. Obviously adding the workstation to the domain is a solution. However, because of concern of what might break this is not our preferred
    solution.
The database is SQL Server 2008 on a 2008R2 system that is a member server of a domain. The systems that are having the error are workgroup systems running Windows 7. Except for the final step, I have pretty much
eliminated the other possibilities in Steps to troubleshoot SQL connectivity issues.
That, and the fact that the application successfully runs from a workstation that is a member of the domain lead me to believe it is an account/authentication issue on the workstation.
From what I have determined SQL authentication is required in this scenario and I have confirmed that the database server is configured for Windows and SQL Server authentication. I have also examined
the configuration file the application uses. It contains the user name and password for the account. Are these credentials not used to establish a connection?
The only thing I can think of, which I haven’t tested because 1) it is a production system and 2) it is a vendor supplied application, is the application needs to be run under a local workstation
account with the same credentials as the SQL Server account.
Could this be the case or is there something else I should be look at?
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your response. I had posted a reply earlier but for some reason it doesn't appear to have uploaded.
The server name in the connection string is ntsrv12.xxx.yyy.edu. I am able to ping that name and ntsrv12 as well from workstations where the application fails.
I have some information from some additional testing I have done. Using my workstation, which is a domain member, I can successfully run the application when logged on with my domain user account.
However, if I logon with a local account the application fails with the error described above.
I have also been able to match Audit Failures in the SQL Server event log with failed attempts to run the application. There is a two error sequence that appears several times for 15 seconds until the application times out and displays the error message.
I have listed the errors below but certainly the application appears to see the server. Any ideas on what to check next?
    Thank you.

  • Error 3260 from Workgroup server

    Hello everybody
My Englisch is not very gut but i hope you can understand me
I have a problem with DPM Agent at one Server. I take allways the same error:
Error 3260: The credentials specified for server targetserver are invalid. Recommenden action: Rerun the operation with the same credentials that were provided when running SetDpmServer for the target server.
Ich have tried to install the Agent from 2 different DPM Server (DPM 2012 and DPM 2010) but i take the same error. I have treid multiplie Password but nothing can help.
    From target Server i run:
SetDpmServer.exe -dpmservername dpmserver –isnondomainserver –username dpmuser –password
The Server is not in a Domain. The Firewall is offline. Ping from DPM server to target server and from target server to DPM server is ok.
I know how to install the DPM Agent because we have more Server than we with DPM Backup. The only problem ist with this one server .
I think the problem is not the credentials because i have tried to connecting from dpm server to target server with the dpm server per RDP and it works.
I post from both server the DPM error log:

    hi,
it is not possible to find the run time errors in application server while writing the file.using sy-subrc only we can find out. where it is writing correctly like this.
we can see all the application server files in this Tcode: AL11

  • Workgroup Manager won't create home directories; no error message

This is quite frustrating. For the past 3 years or so I have used the same procedure to add new users to my LDAP directory:
    1) In Workgroup Manager, click the New User button
    2) Assign name and password under the basic tab
    3) Assign group memberships under the Groups tab
    4) Under the Home tab, select the right place (nfs://my.server.org/Volumes/Users), click Create Home Now
    5) Click Save
Suddenly, when I try to do this yesterday, workgroup manager won't create home directories anymore. I could probably do it manually, but I'm not sure how to get all the right skeleton setup in there. But my main question is, why doesn't this work anymore? Why can't I at least get an error message instead of being silently ignored?
I share admin duties with other people, so it's possible someone installed an update recently; all I can really say is that I'm running Leopard Server 10.5.8 right now, and can find out whatever else is relevant.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    ~Ben

Thanks for the pointer to createhomedir - that did indeed do the trick. (How on earth do people find these little nuggets).
I hesitate to mark this as solved however - it's a functioning workaround, but does nothing to explain why on earth the GUI suddenly stopped functioning.
But in the (likely) event that that question never gets answered, thanks again for letting me get on with working!

  • Cisco SSL VPN "The following error occurred while attempting the file operation: Unable to view the contents of the Domain/Workgroup. "

    Hey People,
Ive set up an SSL Clientless VPN on the Cisco 2821. Ive set up WINS, and the NBNS entries in the VPN config. When i log onto the VPN , i can access the file servers by typing in their names in the network fi

"The following error occurred while attempting the file operation:
Unable to view the contents of the Domain/Workgroup. "
Has anyone come accross this before?
Im using Windows Server 2008R2 for the DC, Windows Server 2003 R2 For WINS and File Sharing.
    The connection goes WAN->BROADBANDROUTER>CISCO2821
Any helo would be much greatly appreciated.

  • SQL Error in Workgroup environment

    Hello all,
maybe someone could help with this:
We installed B1 8.8 in a windows workgroup environment (Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008). B1 Client on Server is working fine, but when starting B1 Client on a workstation, connection to the database takes between 1 to 5 minutes. Server event log then shows an error saying
"Login failed for user ". Reason: An attempt to login using SQL authentication failed. Server is configured for Wondows authentication only [CLIENT: <IP-Adress>]" Event-ID: 18456, Category (4).
But the SQL Server is configured as mixed mode authentication!
    Anybody had this problem already?
    Thanks for your help!
    Greetings, H. Müller

    Hi
    - How are you trying to connect from the client? Trusted connection?
    - How many network cards do you have?

  • Samba: Error: failed to setup guest info plus wrong workgroup

I've managed to get Samba, running as PDC, into a broken state on 10.6.4.
smb repeatedly crashes with the error "failed to setup guest info". I've done multiple searches on the web for this one but nothing stands out by way of an explanation or answer.
nmb reports that it is the master browser for workgroup = Workgroup and yet the settings for the workgroup in Server Admin are for domain = HOME.
serveradmin settings smb reports the correct workgroup name but it seems the running nmbd isn't getting the message.
Anyone have any ideas or pointers on how to completely reset Samba?
