Workgroup to Domain configuration

Hi All,
I have installed development server and the computer is in a workgroup now our n/w team wants it to be attached to a domain. Please let me know what are the changes that are to be carried out so that it does not affect SAP.
Regards,
Balakrishnan

Hi markus,
the switch is also possible with manually configuration :
. create the same sap users and group in the domain with the right groups access
. adjust the enviroment variables (copy the enviromant variables of local users SAP<SID> and SAPSERVICE<SID> , to the new users
. Adjus all sapservices with the new domain user.
We have done this and it works,  what do you think ?
Thank you very much

  • Advice on moving from workgroup to domain for very small network

    Hello all,
I work for a small company and inherited the part time IT/Operations position and I want to understand the impact of changing from workgroup to domain.  I understand the process and I have set up small test domains before but I want to be certain I
understand this so I figured I better ask the pros.
    The setup:
1 Desktop class system, recent i5 quad, 16GB RAM, 1TB HD with Server 2008 R2.  Current roles are File Sharing and WSUS.
3 Desktops running Win 7 Home
1 Desktop with win 7 Pro
    1 Laptop with Vista Home
    1 Laptop with Win 7
1 Laptop with Win 8 Pro
I have configured all devices to uses the WSUS for updates as they wanted these managed and this seems to be the easiest way.
Right now all users have an account on the server that is used to map to their shares.  I know that the home versions cannot join to a domain and with this small of a network I don't want to join any device to a domain as we have only one server and
it would not be reasonable to add more servers.
The thing is they want to setup local sharing of calendars and contacts, etc.  I have 2010 exchange server and it is required to be on a domain.
    The Questions:
Can the domain still "act" as a workgroup and users still connect to the shares and exchange without being joined to the domain?  What is the impact on performance for this server?  Will the home version users still be able to connect to
the shares (I assume yes) and to the exchange through outlook?  Is there a better way to achieve the workgroup features of exchange without using exchange and not subscribing to Office 365?  We do not have an internet domain name for this business.
Does this matter for setting up a domain?
Anything you can think of that I should consider please feel free.
Thank you all for your advice.

    Hi Paul,
You are very welcome, I am very glad that my suggestions helped.
For your first question, in a domain, the Domain Controller clearly has much more tasks to perform than a work group server, while it also has more management options for an administrator to better control his/her client machines.
In addition, domain acts as a central management solution will reduce the work of the administrator. For an example, under workgroup mode, if we have multiple servers which have shared resources, we need to create the same user
accounts on each of them, while in a domain, we only need to create accounts once on the DC, then all the accounts can be recognized across the whole domain, no matter how many servers and client machines are within it.
For the second question, yes, single lable domain name is not recommended, but it is allowed. Single lable domains are supported in
Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and Exchange 2010, while single label DNS name resolution is also possible.
However, there are other Microsoft and third-party products which don’t support
single lable domains. My suggestion is don’t use it while it will cause you trouble.

  • How can I list all the domains configured for Weblogic Servers?

How can I list all the domains configured for Weblogic Servers?
I saw a note, which says the following:
"WebLogic Server does not support multi-domain interaction using either the Administration Console, the weblogic.Admin utility, or WebLogic Ant tasks. This restriction does not, however, explicitly preclude a user written Java application from accessing multiple domains simultaneously."
In my case, I just want to list all the domains, is that possible by using any scripts?
    Thanks
    AJ

If you use WLS Node Manager and the Config Wizard was used to create the domains, then the list of domains should be in a location like this:
    <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>\wlserver_10.3\common\nodemanager\nodemanager.domains
Enterprise Manager Grid Control also has support for multi-domain management of WLS in a console.

  • Can't run Domain Configuration Wizard in GUI mode

I work on a Java development team where each developer has a local WebLogic 10.3.2 server for Windows x86 installed. A small handful of these developers are unable to run the Domain Configuration Wizard (i.e. <WLS_HOME>\common\bin\config.cmd) in GUI mode. When they start it the splash screen will appear briefly and then disappear with nothing more to see. The majority of the developers have no problem with this. Where should I start looking to identify the possible causes for this problem?

    I will suggest following:
    1) instead of clicking on config.cmd in windows browser; run config.cmd at command prompt. You can see error there
    2) check version of java, and if it is certified.
    3) as an alternate you can start the installer in console mode using 'config.cmd -mode=console'

  • OSB 11g Domain Configuration.

    Hello,
I am having trouble understanding the results of the OSB 11g domain configuration. In creating the domain i have selected the following options:
    Oracle Service Bus OWSM Extension
Oracle Service Bus Extension - All domain topologies
Weblogic Advanced Web Services for JAX-RPC Extension
    Oracle WSM Policy Manager
    Oracle JRF
I have selected the 'all domain topologies' as i wish to end up with an 'AdminServer' (using port 7001) and 'osb_server1' (using port 8011). Everything installs without a problem, its that i just don't understand the outcome. The OSB transport providers and adpaters (FTP, File, Db, AQ, etc) are targeted at both the admin server and the osb managed server. I also notice that the osb console is targeted only at the admin server. The confusion comes from the fact that when i use the OSB console application to create a project which i then test (successfully) it appears to all be deployed and running on the admin server? This is based on the fact that the URL used to invoke the OSB proxy service has to specify the port of the admin server. I would have thought that the url to access the proxy service would have been directed at the managed server?
Can someone confirm / explain to me what is going on or why it works this way, please?

The OSB transport providers and adpaters (FTP, File, Db, AQ, etc) are targeted at both the admin server and the osb managed server.Your observation is correct.
I also notice that the osb console is targeted only at the admin server.Yes. This is by design.
The confusion comes from the fact that when i use the OSB console application to create a project which i then test (successfully) it appears to all be deployed and running on the admin server? No. This cannot happen. When you activate the configuration, OSB deploys configuration to the managed server.
This is based on the fact that the URL used to invoke the OSB proxy service has to specify the port of the admin server. I would have thought that the url to access the proxy service would have been directed at the managed server? Are you test console?

  • How to automate domain configuration creation for OAM11g

    Hi
Please let me know is there any way to automate the domain configuration creation for OAM 11g .
For ex- Using config.sh in silent mode to create the domain.

You probably answered your own question. Yes, you can use silent installation for creation and configuration of OIAM products.

  • Multiple domain configurations

    Hi,
We have about 140 interfaces to be run in 11g Fusion environment(s) handling moderate volume of data and another set of interfaces which will run high volume (several millions per hours) data. I am wondering what kind of domain configurations will be best. Right now we have a two node cluster running a single weblogic domain which has about 70 interfaces(moderate volume), the managed servers are SOA server, BAM server and WSM server.
I am thinking about two other domains which will have the same set of managed servers, one for the second set of 70 interfaces (moderate volume) and another one for the high volume transactions. The domains will be on a single installation of SOA suite. Can you please let me know from your experience what are other choices I have which will be better than this configuration. For example a totally separate installation in a different machines(or the same machines). Same domain, but adding more memory/database resources. etc.
    Thanks.

    Hi Venura,
You can do this in Project Properties. On the Profiles page, click New... to create a new profile. You can change many of the runtime settings associated with the project for each individual profile.
    Thanks,

  • OAM domain configuration: question

When installing OAM, and during domain configuration for OAM specific, in the following
screen where you select Admin Server, Managed Server, Cluster, Deployment Services etc
    there are two more options
JMS File Store and JMS Distributed Destination which do not show up- these only show
up for domain configuration for OIM.
Question: Why JMS options do not show up during OAM domain config? But show up
    during OIM domain config.

Unfortunately this is currently not a supported configuration. A domain must contain a single ALSB cluster. This is something we are looking to improve in the future.

  • JRockit JVM Freezes on server start and WLST domain configuration

    Hi,
    Here is our configuration:
    OS:
    cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.3 (Tikanga)
    uname -a
    Linux ********* 2.6.18-128.el5 #1 SMP Wed Dec 17 11:41:38 EST 2008 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
    rpm -qa | grep glibc
    glibc-2.5-34
    glibc-common-2.5-34
    glibc-2.5-34
We are using WLS 10.3 with 64 bit OS and 64 bit JRockit JVM on Xeon system.
The JVM freezes for about 10m when I am trying to start the server. I also see the same behavior when I am trying to create the domain using WLST. Here is the thread dump during the freeze. The JVM eventually recovers from this and continues processing. During domain configuration, the freeze happens when it is trying to write the domain files to disk. All writes are happening to local disk.

    Hi Expert
I have installed Weblogic 10.3.5 (64 bit) in my Oracle Linux 5 (x86_64 bit), I already installed JDK 6 (64 bit) lasted release.
Next, I install IDM 11.1.1.2.0 (64 bit), was successful, after that patchset 11.1.1.5.0 (64 bit) was installed without any error.
When I use IDM Configuration (ORACLE_HOME/bin/config.sh) to create a new domain for idm, It stuck in "Start Managed Server" phrase.
In install log I found entries as below, am I missing something?

After new weblogic domain configuration with oim 11g, not able to login for the frist time as xelsysadm.
it says invalid sign in. and in logs it says password is invalid.
    Please help me in asap...

Thanks Pallavi for the effort. I tried commenting out, its still the same. It do not throw exception this time. However, It tells me that the recon event is completed and linked to user. When I go to user's profile, I dont see the resource provisioned.
    Also,
The Account ID in recon manager of Web Console and the Account ID that is stored in the tables, doesn't match.
I wrote a custom code to fetch account and user details and here is the output,
    User Key : 13 -- has Login Id : USER_CS
Account with account key : 49 is with user key : [USER_CS]
    Getting Account Data......
    {UD_TEST_1P_EMPLOYEENUMBER=1567, UD_TEST_1P_NAME=Kim1}
However the Account Id in recon manager is : 91
    This seems fine.
Doesn't this mean, the account is reconciled successfully?
The problem is that, I am not able to see this resource in User's resource profile.

  • WLS modifies Tuxedo domains configuration

    Hi,
We are configuring WTC to connect WLS 6.1 to Tuxedo8. We alredy have a Tuxedo
application than uses Tuxedo domains, so we have an Tuxedo domains configuraton
(bdmconfig) before connecting to WLS. To connect, we configure the bdconfig.xml
file (see below). We create the StartUp and Shutdown classes and run the simpapp
aplication (using the Toupper EJB). When we startup the application again (and
start the connection) whe realize that it modifies our own Tuxedo domains configuration
    dinamically.
Why is this happening? Is there some way to avoid this?
    Any idea will be appreciate.
    Thanks in advance.

  • How DNS traffic behaves when we have Enterprise Domains configured in RAP-NG(IAP VPN) deployment?

Q: How DNS traffic behaves when we have Enterprise Domains configured in RAP-NG(IAP VPN) deployment?
The four modes available in the RAP-NG architecture are
    1.Local mode
    2.Centralized L2 mode
    3.Distributed L2 mode
    4.Distributed L3 mode
In all the above mode the common behavior is, Internet traffic is source NATed with Master IAPs local IP. The DHCP and corporate traffic behavior changes depending up on mode used in the RAP-NG architecture.
A: Below is the behavior of the DNS traffic
By Default all the DNS requests from a client are forwarded to the clients DNS server.
In a typical IAP deployment without VPN configuration, client DNS requests are resolved by the clients' DNS server.
The DNS behavior of an IAP network (SSID/wired port) configured for RAPNG is determined by the enterprise domain settings.
The enterprise domain setting on the IAP defines the domains for which the DNS resolution must be forwarded to the clients' default DNS server.
    Example:
    internal-domains
     domain-name arubanetworks.com
In the above example if the enterprise domain is configured for arubanetworks.com, then DNS resolution for hostnames in arubanetworks.com will be forwarded to the clients' default DNS server.
The DNS resolution for rest of all the hostnames domains ex. google.com, yahoo.com etc. will be Scr-NATed to the local DNS server of the IAP.
If you need to allow all the hostnames domains to be forwarded to the clients' default DNS server we need to use "*" in the enterprise domain configuration
    internal-domains
     domain-name *
    From Web UI:
    To create/ View
    1. Hit settings
    2. Click on Show advanced options
    3.Select Enterprise Domains
    To View Enterprise domain setting from CLI;
    #show running-config | begin  internal-domains
To Create Enterprise domain from CLI:
    (config)#internal-domains
     domain-name <domain-name>
