Working of a cellphone

Hi all
I'd like to get some information abt how exactly a cellphone works - basically what happens when a call is made and when we reject the call, how does the message of rejection travel across? Are there any good links which could explain this information? Also, can we control this procedure thru j2me? If using j2me , i want to control the keys of my cellphone to send a different msg using a different key whenever i reject a call , is this possible?

ok, I have researched the GSM protocols but you can not modify the standard protocols you know, so you have to add some new features above the protocol statck, I give my suggestions if you are developping this feature in the application layer, first you can receive a incoming call message at the application layer, and then you can detect the key precess, for example, you press the number key 1, and then you can just reject the call, and next you can just send a special SMS to the incoming number.

No.  The iPad cannot make/receive cellular calls or send/receive cellular text messages.  It can only send and receive cellular data, if equipped with 3G.

  • My headset (HBH-20) doesn't work for my iPhone 3G

    Hi there,
I'm using iPhone 3G (OS 3.1.2). The Bluetooth Headset (Sony Ericsson HBH-20) is paired with my iPhone, but not connected. (HBH-20) works on other cellphone and PS3. Can someone help me?
    Thxxxxxxxxx!

I had a similar issue, what I did was reset my iDevice.
    Settings>>General>>Reset>>Reset All Settings
You need to rejoin all wi-fi/bluetooth connections
You need to set up your settings again (the way you had it)
Information (such as Contacts and Calendars) and media (such as music, videos, apps) are NOT affected.

  • Programming Java 4 a cellphone

Does anyone know what programing language and compiler to use to write a program that will work on a cellphone. I have a cellphone that has a motorcycle game that was supposedly "powered by java".
If I write the program in Java what should I use to compile the code?

Have you tried the Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME)??

  • Bluetooth headset not working with 2008 Macbook!

    Hello,
I just got a new Macbook and love it!
But, the other day I tried out my Bluetooth headset and the A2DP headphone choice works great.
But when I change it to headset for use with skype I can hear the person but all they hear is weird repeating static. I listened to myself with skype call testing service and it sounds bad. I looked in preferences of sound and most of the sound bars are purple and moving as if
i am yelling into the microphone. I know it is not the headset for it works with my cellphone and eMac.
Anything I do to the headset doesn't solve this or even brake the pattern in the purple bars.
I turned off the headset when it was showing these bars and they kept going.
It is not the headset. The Macbook is capable of receiving files through Bluetooth so it is not the input of Bluetooth that is the problem.
Also, when I first started the microphone of the headset it was clear then after a couple seconds it started to drown out my voice then it was gone, replaced by shhhhhhchhh.
My headset is a Plantronics 590E.
    Thanks,
    MIBM

    Yes, thank you.
I was recently on Vacation and scheduled a Genius Bar visit and they tested my headset with another Macbook and same thing. I am very mad at Apple after finding this out. I had a feeling it was drivers or something but obviously could not test seeing as I only have one computer running Leopard, eMac runs Tiger. I actually have a third party bluetooth dongle working with my eMac. It is an Iogear dongle and on the box it says all features work with Mac and then I plugged it in and was unable to turn on/off and couldn't use headsets, then after hours of research I found a forum and downloaded a Broadcom driver and voila! it worked. That is also why I wasn't sure if it was a driver problem or hardware.
If anyone needs a tutorial and the driver for a broadcom bluetooth USB dongle I would be happy to help.
    Thanks,
    MIBM

  • My linksys E1200 stop working when unused for many hours or days...

    Hi!
I'm really deceive by my Linksys E1200...   If I dont use internet for few days, internet stop working (tablet, computer, cellphone, etc...).  Even with my old computer directly connected to the router with a cable.   To make it work again, I need to unplug and replug the power cable of the E1200 ...    I'm tired of that!!!!
I'm correctly updated (2.0.06)  If you can't help me I will change the router and It will not a Sisco product...
I found this comment on an other thread and I really think I'm experiencing the same issue. :
Re: Linksys E1200 - Internet Stops Working

I've seen the same problem with the E1200.  It was issued to my by my cable company (RCN) and I need to power cycle it every few days.
I think it has something to do with dhcp renumbering or renewal, but not sure.
I updated to 2.0.06 but that didn't help.
I'm just going to switch to a different router.

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
Is ISP Modem/Service using Dynamic or Static WAN IP addressing?
What ISP Modem service link speeds UP and Down do you have?
Check cable between Modem and Router, swap out to be sure. Link>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAT6 is recommended.
Check ISP MTU requirements, Cable is usually 1500, DSL is around 1492 down to 1472. Call the ISP and ask.
For DSL/PPPoE connections on the router, ensure that "Always ON" option is enabled.
If the ISP modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems: Link>http://www.practicallynetworked.com/networking/fixing_double_nat.htm and http://cognitiveanomalies.com/cisco-nat-how-nat-works/. If the modem can't be bridged then see if the modem has a DMZ option and input the IP address the router gets from the modem and put that into the modems DMZ. Also check the routers DHCP IP address maybe conflicting with the ISP modems IP address of 192.168.0.1. Check to see if this is the same on the ISP modem, and if modem can't be bridged, change the DIR router to 192.168.1.1 or .0.254.
I recommend that you have your ISP check the cabling going to the ISP modem, check signal levels going to the ISP modem. For cable Internet, RG-6 coaxial cable is needed, not RG-59. Check for t.v. line splitters and remove them as they can introduce noise on the line and lower the signal going to the ISP modem. Connecting to the ISP modem could result in a false positive as the signal to the modem could be just enough to that point then adding on a router, could see problems. The router operation is dependent upon getting good data flow from the ISP modem and the modem is dependent upon getting good signal from the ISP Service.

  • Help needed testing a free "killer application"

Applications which turn your phone into a remote control already exist; but they COST, and they only work on phones with IRDA port.
Maybe no more: it's really probable that ANY cellphone with audio play capability can be used as a remote, just spending 1$ to buy a couple of IR leds!
Take a look at this blog post:
    http://jumpjack.wordpress.com/2008/05/20/worlds-cheapest-remote-control-replicator-just-1/
The method described there works fine for me using a PC: I connect one led to audio-in to sample the remote, I edit the waveform, then I play it through a couple of IR leds properly connected to audio-out, and I can control my devices!
There's apparently no reason for which same method can't work with a cellphone's audio-out port:
    http://features.engadget.com/2004/07/27/how-to-turn-your-ipod-in-to-a-universal-infrared-remote-cont...
Come on, do you REALLY want an iPod to be BETTER than your nokia?!? ;-)

I'm currently having troubles playing WAV format on my phones: any clue about a free application for s60-2nd for this purpose?
Message Edited by jumpjack on 26-May-2008 12:33 PM

    P.S.
if you think being able to control your device using your phone is "just a funny thing"... then try thinking that:
    - any s60 phone can be easily programmed in python
    - any s60 phone can receive SMS
    - 160 GB (or more) Personal Video Recorders are available in the market
    - an old s60 model costs around 50$
Sum these all together, and you'll get a ***remotely controllable (by SMS) PVR!!!*** ;-)

  • Messages are forwarding to my sisters iPhone from my iPad not intended for her.

So my sister an I share a iTunes account, because it seemed easier for her to use mine. Well recently I purchased an iPad and registered it with my apple ID I began messaging a friend. And everything we were saying was being forwarded to her iPhone (which is quiet annoying due to privacy and all) how can this be changed! Whether she needs to be deleted! Oh and even when I message that same friend on my phone it does the same thing and forwards it too her.
It's an iPad 3 and we both have an iPhone 4!
Please can you assist me :)
    Cheers kaitlyn

When you text from phone to phone - those are SMS messages which will work from any cellphone to another cellphone. With the iOS Messages app, the user on the other end that you want to text - from your iPad - must setup and register the phone number or Apple ID email address in order to accept texts from you.
Messages works over WiFi and it only works with other iOS users - and Macs running Mountain Lion - but the user that you are trying to reach must set it up on their end first - or you will not be able to reach them. If she setup soup messages to use her iPhone number - you should be able to contact her with the phone number.

  • MMAPI compatibility Cell Phones

We are in the designing stages for a program to capture aduio from cellphones and store it. We are planning to use MMAPI in order to acheive this.
The following are the doubts I have..
    1. Can the program work across all cellphones implementing MMAPI or will it have to be modified in some way for each phone?
    2. If the program is built using MMAPI will PocketPC and Windows Mobile phones support it?
    3. Is there any other way to effectively capture audio from phones not implementing MMAPI?

I have devceloped MMAPI apps on several handsets..
What you should be doing at this stage is to complete spreadsheet called MMAPI compatibility matrix..
You will going throuhg the datasheets per hdnset serie4s and vendor to determine what compatibilityproblems exits..
Than when you have the full number of hadnsets that you can deploy to without problems you will thna have clearer pciture of to use MMAPi or not..
For most updated handsets yes you can use MMAPI..
on WIndowsMobile and other oSes as long as the J2ME jVm supports mampi you are golden..for the most part most J2ME JVms on wondowsMobile and pocketpc do support MMAPI..

  • 3G recommendation for Macbook?

I have a white macbook running OS 10.5.4 and I'm losing the DSL provided wifi in my office. I expect to be on the road more often but I still need to be able to connect to the net. I live in Los Angeles.
I figure I'll have to buy one of those USB key wi-fi antennas but which mobile wi-fi provider do you recommend for the LA area?
99% of my net action is reading/writing/sending emails with doc or pdf attachments or simple web surfing for research. I don't do video uploading or downloading.
    So....which company do you recommend?
    Thanks

3G speed is very good, even for dowloading or uploading and it works almost everywhere. It works with the cellphones network.

  • Headset question

I am looking for a good bluetooth headset that will work with my cellphone (moto v551) and my mac (mini). When I go shopping, will I just be able to pick up any bluetooth headset and be able to pair it to my phone or mac (depending on where I want to use it) or is there something special that I should look for.
Also, if anyone has any sugguestions for a good but cheep headset...I'm listening

I just bought this one from Plantronics and it's been working flawlessly. It was recognized immediately in the bluetooth setup preference and it works seamlessly with Skype.
I have to say that I would recommend it to anyone.
ps, don't be thrown by the price, I picked it up for $58.00 through Pricegrabber

  • End of Flash?

I used to love Flash, but now there are more bugs in Flash than in all Windows versions combined. Is this Adobe's way of getting back at Macromedia?
My feeling is that we are neering the end of Flash, especially since Apple will never suport it on the iPhone. Hopefully CS5 will fix some of the worst stuff, but I have the feeling that things will only get worse.

    Hi,
Adobe's end? Well, I don't even see a serious contender here. Photoshop. Illustrator, Acrobat, InDesign... No, I think Adobe won't go down any time soon, short or long term, bugs or not. These softwares I just mentionned are the main and most renown tools in the design, graphical and printing industries.
And no, I do not work for Adobe.
Flash and Dreamweaver are also part of the main tools of the web industry. So, the end of Flash? No, not at all. Flash websites are still (and since many years) the most modern looking websites that can be done out there, even though it implies more and more 3D skills for the very highend ones.
Apple's IPhone... The minute one of the (serious) competitors will have Flash working in their cellphone, Apple will follow (if they don't do it first).
Plus, no matter how long it lasts, the IPhone is a hype, a craze. Unlike Flash.

I have to definitely agree with this. Not to mention the video industry with After Effects. This is a staple in the motion graphics industry, and even many big name movies. The sheer volume of professionals that use these products i don't believe will let the 'ship sink' so to say because their livlihoods depend on Adobe's products, and you can bet they will have input on this.

  • Do not use Displex

My friend just used Displex on his iPod nano. Displex takes away layers of plastic when you "polish" it.
It came out looking WORSE then before he used it. It may work ok for cellphone screens because the screen's plastic is harder but NOT for the iPod nano.
This iPod nano needs to be recalled IMHO. In Switzerland they are on display all scratched up but some stores are refusing to sell them. I purchased a Sony walkman instead of a iPod nano. They are really nice and don't scratch if you want an alternative.

    DISPLEX Works.
I have a new black Nano, with a major dulling and matt area on the black front and screen caused by Nail varnish remover (don't ask!) a large patch that is much worse than scratching. I bought Displex (£4on UK ebay).
I applied it with a spectacles cleaning cloth and after 30 minutes of careful circular polishing, medium pressure, it has made an improvement of say 90%. Casual lookers will not notice the original damage. Another session of 10 minutes will probably cure all trace of damage, although wife is now happy that her precious Nano is not terminally scarred as it was.
